Chapter 6: Heartbreak Hotel
Lost in Traverse Town, little Sora had found his way to the Second District's oddly child and midget-proportioned Hotel. Roaming the empty hallway, he approached the counter and read the "closed" sign mounted on the window. Still, he rang the bell to see if anyone would answer, also because it was sitting there tempting him, and he was desperate to hear what it sounded like.
After ringing it a few more times and still getting no response, he noticed the fine print on the "closed" sign, which read, "No vacancy".
"How about a brochure?" said the lone boy, taking one of the concessions from the counter.
He read it. Well, he skimmed it.
"Hm…an art exhibit?" He saw a nearby painting on the wall, examining the art. "Let's see…. 'The Autumn Dusk'. That's…autumn-ey."
Apparently, the only other art exhibit was another painting on the opposite wall waaaaay down at the other end of the hallway. Taking a slow stroll, Sora reflected on what the word "dusk" meant, pondering internally, So, was that the morning one, or the nighttime one?
Brainstorming, he muttered out loud, "…There's 'dusk and dawn'…like that movie I was too scared—I mean, too young to see. Who knows what it could mean?"
Finally reaching the opposite end, Sora examined the second and last art exhibit on the wall. "This one says 'Midsummer Dawn'—whoa, I predicted it!"
Suddenly, a mysterious person's voice blared over the intercom, "Paintings are great…"
"HOLY CRAP!" Sora jumped in fright. Spinning right around, he huffed and puffed, then timidly shouting, "Hey, didn't you hear me ring the bell?"
He awesomely received no response.
"…Hello?"
Running back to the front counter, Sora furiously rang the bell some more. This time, the curtain behind the window moved slightly, accompanied with another intercom message, "Paintings are great…. If you ever stay the night…try hitting the clock."
"Uh…okay? How about letting me have a room?"
No response.
Frustrated, Sora grumbled before leaving the hotel, "Whatever. This place is creepy, anyway."
But within that staff-only room behind the front desk, a man dressed in a long black coat with the hood pulled up sat reclined in the darkness, listening to relaxing music. Satisfied with whatever he'd accomplished that night, the Master of Masters commented out loud, "That kid's gonna thank me later for the free Mythril. Of course, he'll probably forget all about it until after those Moogle-guys open their shop. Silly kiddo—"
"Is someone back there?!"
"Oh, geez!" The Master seemed to jump in irritable surprise. Whispering, he bemoaned, "Isn't that kid supposed to have a short attention span…?!"
Back outside, a frustrated Sora declared, "I am so done with this place—!"
The door to the first room, the red room, opened gingerly, revealing the…the same guy who got murdered in the Second District a few minutes before Sora walked in. He and the older gentleman met eyes for three whole seconds.
"Uhh…" said the gentledude.
"Didn't I just see you get…?"
"Come back soon, hon!" said a woman's voice from within the room.
Shockingly, the woman in the green dress, she of the "unhappy past", appeared in the doorway, apparently seeing off the totally-not-dead guy. All three, frozen, stared for a single hot second before Sora uttered in listlessness, "Iuhiiihhhh-er, iuhhh…?"
"Er, yes, hello there" said the man. "Well, thanks for stitching up my new vest, and um…ironing it! Good day to you madam!"
The guy turned and left for the door waaaay on the opposite end of the hallway, leaving Sora to stare wide-eyed at the she-lady in the green dress. She-lady then stated, "Get munny, kid," and closed the door.
The door behind Sora, that which led back to the Second District, swung open, revealing a platoon of Moogles carrying an unconscious citizen of Traverse Town, and that was a tremendous feat considering the citizen was definitely the wide and portly man who excessively frequents the First District, likely intoxicated.
"What the—"
One of the Moogles yelled over Sora, also nearly tripping the boy with their plus-sized inventory, "Put him on the wall!"
The little kupos were struggling to prop up the big man, so they just settled for tossing him sideways against the floor trim, tits diagonal. Then, the five little agents began rummaging in the comatose man's pockets, extracting various items. One even started checking the guy's vitals, and that particular Moogle ordered, "Potion, STAT!"
A Potion was quickly splashed on the man's face, and he seemed to stir mildly. Speeding up the process, a Moogle slapped that bouncy face until satisfied with the man's level of lucidness.
"He's good! Let's bounce!"
The Moogles cheesed it, and Sora was upset, especially when the big dude got more comfortable against the wall, wherein he ripped ass quite loudly, and it's funny because he fat.
"You gotta be jokin'—"
Suddenly, the fourth room, the blue one at the opposite end of the hallway, burst open, and Sora ran like hell for the exit, using speed and agility to return to the Second District for the sake of mind-numbing mortal combat.
Yuffie exited that blue room, which must've been a bathroom or something, for she appeared to have just showered, merely wearing a towel and slippers. On the way back to the yellow room, she grumbled at the sight of the fat guy sleeping against the wall, muttering, "Again with that guy!?"
