Flying Ebony – 1925
We've flown escorts before but this ship is … indescribable. It's the largest I've ever seen and I'm awestruck. We're only told it's important, vital, to get to its destination and those who ordered it. Our job is to see that it arrives as promised and in one piece unlike that giant craft that Riga ordered then Spectra hijacked a few years back. Apparently, this one is to be used to transport colonists even further into space. Strange that it's dark. The only way to know it's there is its silhouette against a star field. They call it Flying Ebony.
Bubbling Over – 1926
"You need to calm down." "Take a chill pill." I don't get why everyone isn't as enthusiastic about this life as I am. Can I help it I'm excited about what we do? Sure, I don't have a huge fan following like my teammates but I'm still ready to go – facing down our enemies once and for all. There will be nothing greater that finally putting our training to the test. Sure people die but we have to do what we have to do. I get worried looks sometimes from my team because they feel my passions are Bubbling Over.
Whiskery – 1927
Sitting in the bubble is great because you can see in every direction, especially when we're going through oceans. Most of the time we're in the Pacific Basin but we do go off the beaten path exploring other places. Like today, we're patrolling off the west coast of Australia. It's so neat to see all the fishes and corals of every color. The stingrays are hanging out while the eels hide in their cubbyholes. I'm testing out my new scanner; it's how I know where the eels are hiding. There are sharks aplenty in this area too including the Whiskery.
Reigh Count – 1928
There are times I know I'm not the smartest book on the shelf, the sharpest knife in the drawer. My sarcasm makes up for it but there are even instances I wish I can take back some of my comments. I open my mouth then see the hurt in my teammates' eyes. Never my intention, I never want to injure them. We depend on each other for our lives. Imagine out enemies exploiting the situation. I don't want to entertain that possibility. But what a surprise they'll receive. While I'm not the smartest, I will remain the team's Reigh Count.
Clyde Van Dusen – 1929
I hated our latest go round with Spectra. We defeated their newest mech-du-jour and freak captain of the day. It wasn't without a cost, unfortunately. I felt like we got home to lick our wounds. The Phoenix was really banged up when it landed. It'll need to be down a week to make the proper repairs. We also carried back survivors of a kidnapping spree. While helping some in the back, two of us were jostled pretty good during the dogfight. No matter, we all made it. I lay here now under constant supervision of my doctor, Clyde Van Dusen.
Gallant Fox – 1930
It takes quite a bit of time and energy to create the program I have to such a scale. The challenge itself is no a small feat, it is actually a tall order – we must protect the planet. Our enemy is cunning and at times, desperate or appears so. I'm in charge of standing our ground and to make every move and counter-move against a shadowy figure that is as clever as they come. His fierceness puts lions and bears to shame. Unfortunately, his manipulations towards his men are despicable. But in their eyes, he is the perfect Gallant Fox.
Twenty Grand – 1931
There is rubble everywhere. Where once grand trees stood are now mere stumps and skeletons of limbs. Clean up, as always, is slow going. There is the dreaded task of burying the dead bodies. Tending to the injured doesn't provide the relief that is so desperately needed and hoped for. Battered bodies and broken bones only anger me more. These people didn't ask for this! They were just living their lives, providing for their families, and raising their children. Now, homes collapse in ruin while cities begin the grim task of rebuilding. We wish the damages only cost Twenty Grand.
Burgoo King – 1932
That's it. We need to sign up for a frequent flyer mile plan. I mean, how many trips out of the solar system have we really made? I've lost count! Of course, you're about to tell me that sometimes we go on fun missions, or better yet, vacation. Well, yeah – you're right. There are times our missions are fun and the best part: we meet the most interesting people. Just the other day, we met the leader of a planet. Can you imagine being the head of state for a whole world? It was nifty to meet the Burgoo King.
Brokers Tip – 1933
Speculation is not my thing – I hate the whole idea of instability or volatile situations. What I really dislike are guesses, especially when we don't have all the information. Give me cut and dry, black and white, or real facts any day. Better yet, give me a set of crosshairs and a solid target. That's easy – one shot, over and done. No fuss, no muss. Well, no messes for us. I can't say the same for those people on the ground. I mean, I'm not a betting man but there are times I see a need for a Brokers Tip.
Cavalcade – 1934
I couldn't believe my bad luck. First, Dr. Brighthead chewed out Hooty and I for gambling. Second, we had to chase down this kooky scientist. It took us a long while to find him. He then told us Galactor's scheme. He didn't even want to be a part of the plan after he found out what they wanted to do with his creations. He told us what we needed to do and we did it. It was awful but what these robots were capable of was so much worse. It was up to us to stop this weird, runaway Cavalcade.
