Hey, King Spike Rules here and her is the next chapter to Spike's Basket ball. After the crushing defeat from the Girl Team in the practice match, how will the boy's bounce back from this.
Chapter 6: Lost Passion.
Spike looking out the window in class, his mind on what happened the day before with the Boy's team facing so much trouble in their game. Even with the Girl's team using mostly lower level teammates in their game, Spike knew more was needed if this team was going to make it through the tournament. The bell rang out and Spike sighed standing up from the his desk, heading out with the other students who were on their way out to their own clubs or home.
"So, any plans for today?" Sorian was waiting for him by the side door that lead to the gym and the squeaking of sneakers told them the girls were well off on their own practice.
"Not really, sore from the other day and I'm sure the others are already on their way home." Spike said, "So i was going to check on what my sister wanted for dinner and then grab it from the store."
"Curry." a voice called out to them and they turned to see Twilight standing there with papers in her hand, "if it's my choice tonight then curry please."
"Fine then, but I'm making it." Spike spat out as Twilight placed her finger to her lips, looking up to seem like she was thinking.
"Then extra hot sauce from the store please." she told him and a long sigh escaped from Spike lips, giving her a thumbs up.
"Hey Twilight, we're about to start practicing." Applejack called out with Dash standing next to her, a smirk on her face.
"Hey boys, you getting ready for your own prac..." Dash was silenced by Applejack coving her mouth.
"We've talked about this." Applejack pushed her out of the view and then a loud bang could be heard as the trio stood there confused. Applejack popped her head out with a smile on her face, "Everything is fine, oh Spike."
"Huh?" Spike said confused looking at her, wondering what she could want.
"I forgot my gear at home, it's just a block away. Could you get it from my brother, I just called him and he'll have it ready when you get there." Applejack explained shooting him a kind smile.
"Oh, sure." Spike said walking on towards the the door and got the address before heading on out.
"Hey Twilight." Sorian spoke with her looking at him waiting for what ever question he could have, "I feel our team needs more then just the five of us, hopefully we can find a good coach soon." Sorain walked off leaving her there with the papers in her hand.
"I'm sure you will sooner then later." she said walking on towards the gym and looked at the gym full of the girls team practicing with their friends as she stepped into the gym, closing the door behind her.
Spike followed the address he was given by Applejack and he soon found a small fruit store with a house in the back of it. An older lady stood there with a smile on her face over her slight tan skin and stood behind the stnad.
"How may I help you young sir?" she said noticing Spike and he walked up to her.
"Uh, Applejack sent me to get her stuff." Spike looking around, "she said she called her brother to bring it out to me."
"Oh, he must have not heard the call since he's in the back in his space." she said turning and heading out back with Spike following close behind her when a noise could be heard, one he knew all to well and they were soon in front of a full court basketball court with a tall man practicing a few shots. His tan body was complimented with his long gold blond hair and green eye with his making a few shots before seeing them.
"Hey Granny, who's that?" the man asked looking at Spike dribbling the ball back and forth with a skill Spike could tell just by how he was moving.
"This young fella is here for Applejack stuff, she left it here and said she contacted you." she said as he reached into hsi pocket and pulled it out looking at it.
"Shit, i put it on silence by mistake." he said.
"Mac, watch your mouth." Granny said and he covered his mouth.
"Sorry mom, I'll go get those things for you." Mac said heading on towards the house while Granny walked back tot he front of the store in case someone came up to buy something. Spike didn't take his eyes off the court before him he had just been seen someone practicing on before a tap was on his shoulder. "Here's her stuff." Mac said hanging a bag over to him.
"Thanks." Spike took the bag and looked at it watching Mac heading for the court to practice more, "Hey." Mac turned to see what Spike wanted, "I wanted to ask if you go to Ponyville High?"
"Yeah, I'm in my fourth year." Mac said dribbling the ball looking at Spike.
"Would you like to join the Boy's Basketball Club." Spike said smiling looking at him and watched his expression change.
"I don't play the game anymore," Mac said.
"But your doing that right now." Spike said with Mac not looking at him with his eyes still locked on the ball.
"I'm doing this for my break and before the real reason we have this court." Mac said confusing Spike, who wanted to continue his question when his phone went off to show he got a text from Twilight. Knowing why he got it, he headed on out from behind the store and left Mac to stare at the ball in his hands. "There's a reason I wasn't already part of it already.
Mac walked out of the shower with a long sigh of relief from the feel of a cool shower in a warm spring evening and he headed into his room, seeing several awards of basketball from trophies, ribbons, and plaques. He looked at them all and this time a long sigh escaped his lips. Sitting on the bed, he looked at his hands and saw they were shaking.
"Hey Applejack?" a voice called out from the back yard, "I finished my chores and homework, can you show me some tricks before dinner?"
"Sure thing sugardube." Applejack's voice rang out with an answer and then the sound of dribbling from outside echoed it's way into the room, filling Mac with deeper feelings then ever this afternoon could do. his grade told him he was to far gone to be in any club and his mind continued to tell him that. His eyes turned to the night stand and a picture on it of a young him in a basketball uniform with a younger Applejack hugging him, a smile spread across her face. But there was another, a younger sister with red hair on his shoulder holding the trophy that he had in his room.
"The real reason we have the court." he repeated what he told Spike and he took the frame in his hand, careful not to knock over the sister frame from it's perch, running his fingers over it and tears fell onto it. "Wasn't me."
Spike was in his room looking out to the sky, his mind on what could Mac mean by not for him and he was sure he could get an answer from the only person who was willing to talk to him.
"Tomorrow, I'll ask." Spike said with a smile on his face and his eyes began to close with a plan forming in his head.
Spike was up and early standing next to the fruit store waiting for the siblings to come out, and he was soon rewarded with Mac opening the door and Applejack walking out with a younger girl walking out behind them. She had long red hair and gold colored eyes as she was ready for school.
"Oh, Spike." Applejack said, "What brings you here so early in the morning?"
"Oh, I was just wanting to talk to you about something to do with the club." he said smiling waving at them and Applejack looked at him for a few moments.
"Sure thing, Mac you have Apple Bloom this morning?" Applejack asked her big brother.
"Aw, but I wanted you to show my friends those tricks you showed me last night." Apple Bloom said with a frown on her face.
"You can bring them over and I'll show them after school." Applejack said ruffling her head and smiling when Mac looked away, hiding his face but Spike noticed what he was doing.
"Thanks Applejack, your the best." Apple Bloom said taking her brother's hand and heading on to school with him, leaving them alone with Applejack waving bye to her siblings.
"So, what do you want to talk about?" she asked looking at Spike with her arms crossed and Spike looked at the other two to wait before they were out of ear shot.
"Why does Mac not want to be on the basketball club?" Spike cut to the chase and crossed his arms in front of him with Applejack shocked at his straight forwardness.
"Not sure to be honest." Applejack answered looking at her siblings nearing the point where they couldn't be seen, "he just stopped in the middle of his last year in middle school and just let all his trophies collect dust in his room."
"Because I saw him, and he has kept up his skills." Spike said looking at Applejack and she turned to him with a shrug.
"That might be, but it's his choice." she said walking on past Spike with a long sigh escaping her lips, "But I know one thing." Spike turned to look at her and she shot him a glare, "my brother is not to answer to your problem with what happened at the practice game."
"I know, but I need to do something." Spike said looking back to where Mac would be if he was closer, "Lost skills doesn't mean gone." Spike took one last look of them walking along and then turned towards the school, heading on with what he hoped would come a better future then what they had moments ago.
Inside a gym near a castle like school, a team practice hard for their morning time with a young lady watching them with long, dark blue hair with golden eyes locked on the group playing their practice. One of the guy suddenly did a long jump and hit a slam dunk hard holding it in his hand as he hung there.
"Garble, I told you no showing off. Take this seriously." the young woman yelled out watching him letting go of the rim.
"Hey, when you have the skill, show it off Ember." he said smiling showing a light tan skin with wild red hair with a smile on his face as the others looked at him.
"Showing off makes you put your guard down, Dragon Force isn't a kingdom without putting effort into it." she said scolding him.
"Relax, we have this in the bag." Garble smiled as she sighed and forced him to resume practice in the game.
