The truth

Marinette looks down at the sleeping form of her cousin. Master Fu had told her that she needed to be taken to the hospital, as Ladybug's miracle cure might have taken the injuries from the akuma, it did not take the ones Hawkmoth had given her, he had been right. Marinette sighed; she really hoped her cousin would wake soon. The doctors had told her that the injuries hadn't been so bad, but Bridgette had taken a hit to the head at some point, and it had caused a small swelling of her brain. A door opened and Marinette looked up, finding the Agretse brothers. Marinette was still a little shocked after finding out that the brothers were her partners, but she was slowly getting over it and accepting the facts given to her.

Felix sat down in a chair on the other side of Bridgette's bed, sighing softly.

"Still no improvement?"

Marinette sighed, as she was brought back to reality. She softly squeezed her cousin's hand between her own.

"No, and with what the doctors have told me, I am afraid she will have a relapse and… and wake up to a bad memory"

Both brothers looked at Marinette, the same question in their eyes. Marinette sighed, her parents was home at the bakery at the moment, as Marinette had told them she would call if there were any news. With a sigh, Marinette looked up at the two boys.

"A year ago, Bridgette woke up in a hospital bed and got told she had been in a plane crash. Someone was dumb enough to inform her as some of the first that both my uncle and aunt had died. Apparently, Bridgette had fainted after the plane had crashed and had seen it all. It took a half year of therapy to get her out of shock. My parents took her in and that is why she is living with us. The plane crash had happened, as they were on their way here from picking up Bridgette in London, as she went to a special school there. It took a few more months for her to bounce into the Bridgette we know today"

Both brothers shared a sad look, obliviously shocked by the story. A soft groan made all of them turn to look at the bluenette in the hospital bed. A pair of eyelashes fluttered open, revealing a pair of blue eyes. Marinette internally wished for anything but the scream her cousin had let out last time she woke in a hospital. Bridgette looked at the three faces, before gasping and sitting up in a swift movement, ignoring the pain in her side.

"Nooroo, where is Nooroo?"

Marinette blinked that was not what she had expected, but she smiled all the same.

"Nooroo is fine, Master Fu is taking care of him at the moment"

Bridgette nodded, before slowly leaning back into the bed, groaning softly as her head hit the pillow. Marinette smiles softly at her, before telling her she would go out a find a doctor and call her parents as well. Bridgette nodded and looked up at the celling, letting out a soft sigh. Adrien followed Marinette out, winking at his brother, who send him a glare in return. Felix was regretting telling Adrien about how he really felt now, his younger brother had been nothing but a pain ever since. He turned to look back at Bridgette, as he felt her gaze on him. She blinked at him, looking confused.

"I can understand why Sunshine is here, but not you, you always seemed to dislike me"

Felix gulped, he did not feel ready, but who really was whenever it was about how you truly felt.

"Look Bridgette, I am sorry, if you feel like I do not care. As it is the farthest from the truth as can be. You see, after our mother disappeared, Adrien and I took grief differently. Adrien can be sad at times and put on the model fake smile, while I… I just disappeared deeper into myself, as I was antisocial in the first place. I… I… this is harder to admit than I thought… I am scared to let others into my life, to afraid they will disappear like my mother. But seeing you getting abducted by that akuma and then find you beaten like that, I feared losing you even more, and while you have been sleeping, I have realized that I care for you deeply. And much to my annoyance, Adrien is right, If I don't start to accept it and let you in, I might just really lose you and that is the last I want to do. But please go easy on me, I am still learning about all of this. So, would you give me the honor of giving me a chance to show you how much I care?"

Bridgette blinked at him, not sure if she heard him right, if it was a joke or if she was still out cold. As she watched him gulp and the nervousness getting more and more evident on his face by every second passing by, she realized that he meant it. With a soft smile she nodded at him.

"I would like that"

He smiled at her, really smiled, making his light-blue eyes shine. A soft groan escapes Bridgette, as a slow pain spreads over her body.

"So, how badly am I beaten?"

Felix blinks, clearly taken aback by the question. She giggles softly, slowly lifting out a hand towards him. He gulps nervously and takes it, looking into her eyes.

"W-well… you have three broken ribs, a sprained ankle and two sprained wrists. Whoever you were fighting seriously knew how to hit!"

Bridgette let out a huff of hot air, clearly annoyed by the statement.

"Yeah well, it is not funny being beaten up with a cane, especially not when you also have been beaten by an akuma prior"

Felix nodded, before looking down at their hands.

"Earlier, you ran off before you answered my question, how did you know it was an akuma and not me, I… I mean how could you tell the difference?"

Bridgette gave his hand a soft squeeze, before sighing.

"Well, at that time I was going to say because you never cared, I mean at that moment you wouldn't have accepted an invitation and you would diffidently never had asked me out, so that was how I got suspicious, then I tried to ask some questions that the real you would easily have answered, especially about your favorite book, when he couldn't I knew it wasn't you"

Felix nods softly, he is about to speak, when the door opens and in walks a doctor.

"Hello Bridgette, nice to see you awake, we are going to make a few tests and then see how you brain swelling is doing, after that we can determined when you will be able to go home, does that sound fair to you?"

Bridgette nods and gives Felix a soft smile. He gets up and turns to leave, so the doctor can do the tests, but Felix turns back to Bridgette and whispers softly to her.

"Please get better soon, I have a surprise when you are ready"

She blushes lightly, making him smile as he walks out the door.
