"Hey, Sirius, come on in", Harry smiled at him and let him enter, they were meeting in Remus' office.
"Hi Harry, Hi Remus", Sirius smiled at his godson and his best friend, and flopped into one of the armchairs, "the Founders not here yet?"
"They are probably still busy packing", Remus guessed, taking a sip of his tea.
"Packing?", Sirius repeated, he swallowed, "why…what does that mean?"
"Haven't you heard? They are leaving Hogwarts and are moving back to Gryffindor Manor", Remus informed him, "cannot say I blame them- they were cramped into two small rooms for weeks here, and Gryffindor Manor supposedly has about 100 rooms and a huge park."
"And a Quidditch field!", Harry added, "we should go visit at some point, don't you agree, Sirius?"
"Uhm…yeah, sure", Sirius forced himself to smile, but his hands were shaking all of a sudden.
So, they were leaving. Leaving Hogwarts, leaving their quarters- and leaving him.
No more playing with Aurelius, no more dinners with them, no more sleepovers, no more Little Star…
He suddenly felt like crying, which was ridiculous of course, when he had agreed to be a spy for Slytherin, he had not even known the Founders, and this was always supposed to be for a limited amount of time only, right?
"Would you like some tea, Sirius? Sirius? Some tea?"
"Sorry, eh…no thanks", he was fidgeting around the armchair now, and he was sweating, "I…am not really thirsty."
"Well, I hope you are going to be thirsty later- I was hoping we could get some beers in Hogsmeade tonight", Remus said, he grinned playfully, "after all, we need to celebrate you being an adult again!"
"Sounds great!", Sirius lied, he was getting more and more agitated now, and it annoyed him that he had to lie to his best friend.
There was a knock on the door and Sirius almost jumped out of his skin.
Harry laughed, "you can hardly wait to get that beer tonight, hmm?", he did not wait for Sirius to respond, but walked over and opened the door for the Founders.
"We are sorry for being late", Salazar said apologetically, "we had a meeting with Fudge that went longer than expected."
"No worries", Remus answered, "would you like some tea?"
"That would be great, thank you", Salazar said, and then he walked over and sat on the couch, "so, how are you doing, Sirius?"
"I am fine", Sirius replied curtly, not even bothering to hide the annoyance from his voice.
Godric, who was busy preparing himself some tea, frowned, "would you like to try that again, Sirius Black?", his voice was calm, but Sirius could hear the hidden danger in it- not that he cared anymore.
"Don't you have some packing to do?", he asked snidely, a defiant expression on his face.
Gryffindor slammed his tea cup down so hard the tea almost spilled over, "come over here, Sirius", his voice was cold as ice, "now, do not make me come get you."
Sirius did not move, "why? I was just stating a fact", he responded, crossing the line between acting out and being downright disrespectful.
"One."
Sirius swallowed hard, "you can't make me do anything!", he stayed put, but the defiant expression on his face slowly turned into fear.
"Two."
"Stop counting! It's not like you care anyways!", he shouted, completely forgetting that Harry and Remus could hear every word, "you can't just come in here and boss me around and…and…"
"Three", Gryffindor got up, and Sirius let out an angry sob, frantically looking around the room for help; Harry seemed startled, Remus was frowning, and Salazar was the only one who was even looking at him, a sad smile on his face.
"Noooo! Leave me alone! PUT ME DOWN!", Sirius started to struggle, he was kicking and screaming now, while Gryffindor simply carried him over to the nearest corner, grabbed a chair, and then he sat down and pulled the struggling boy over his lap, "you know what happens when you disrespect me, Sirius, don't you?"
"I said leave me alone! I don't have to listen to you!"
"Is that so?", Gryffindor's voice was icy now, and Sirius immediately regretted being so rude, "please…no!"
Gryffindor lifted his hand and gave him a hard smack to his backside, "now tell me, Sirius, what happens to little boys who misbehave?"
He blushed, praying that Harry and Remus were too far away to hear this, "they…they get spanked", he finally whispered, "but…please…I…don't want to…"
"This is not about what you want, Sirius", Gryffindor replied, "it is about what you need- or do you think the way you were acting is okay?"
He sobbed, "no, but…"
"Tell me why you are getting punished, Sirius."
Sirius began to struggle again, whimpering, "because…I yelled…and I was rude…and I did not listen", he was close to crying now, "please don't! I am sorry for being rude!"
Gryffindor ignored his pleas, "you will get five- and I expect you to count them, understand?"
"Yes, Sir", Sirius sobbed, his whole body clenching in anticipation of the pain- and he did not have to wait long.
Smack.
"One"
Smack.
"T…two", this is so humiliating.
"If you have a problem, I except you to come to me and talk to me, instead of acting out", the hand came down again, and Sirius yelped.
"Three!"
"Good boy", Gryffindor praised him, "almost done, Sirius."
Smack.
"Four! Please, it hurts, no more!"
"One more", Gryffindor replied, unmoved, and lifted his hand, and Sirius struggled and kicked, but he was not able to escape the last one, and he cried out, "fi…five! Please, I am sorry! No more!"
"Shshsh…all done, Sirius", he lifted him up, and hugged him, and then placed him on the chair, facing the wall, "you know the drill- ten minutes for today", his voice was firm, "and if I hear any noise from you, I will spank you again and your pants will come down- understand?"
Sirius sobbed, his whole face red with mortification, "yes…Sir", he finally managed to say, not daring to give Gryffindor any more reasons to be upset with him.
"Good."
He turned around and went back to the others, and Sirius stared at the white wall in front of him, feeling hurt, embarrassed, angry, sad, and guilty all at once.
He started to cry softly, careful not to make any sound, he had messed up…Gryffindor was gonna be glad when he finally did not have to bother with him anymore, he always screwed up…
His cries turned into quiet whimpers, it was all his fault…and maybe Goyle had been right, maybe he did not deserve to be happy after all.
"You do deserve to be happy, Sirius", Gryffindor was back, his voice was still firm, but with an undertone of calmness, "now, anything you have to say to me?"
"I…I am sorry", Sirius mumbled, staring at his lap.
"For?"
He blushed, "I am sorry for misbehaving, Sir."
"Good boy", Gryffindor smiled at him, "do you want to tell me what you were so upset about earlier?"
"I was just…mad I guess", Sirius answered quietly, "about you leaving."
"Hmmm…", Gryffindor started slowly stroking his hair, "are you telling me that you would miss me? I thought you might be glad to get rid of me, especially after all the punishments, and all those times you spent over my lap."
His blush deepened, "I…yeah, I mean…I guess I deserved most of that stuff", he confessed quietly, "and I like…", he took a deep breath, this was so embarrassing, "I like it…that…you…care to make sure I don't make the same mistake again…and I like the snuggling after", he quickly added and Gryffindor's smile got wider, "can I tell you a secret? I like the snuggling, too", he picked him up and pulled him in a close embrace, "and I was teasing you, I know you would miss me- just as much as I would miss you", he softly kissed the top of his head, "which is why we are going to take you with us."
Sirius' eyes widened, his face suddenly glowing with happiness, "really? You…you are gonna take me with you?"
Salazar came over, he smiled as well, "we love you, Sirius- and Aurelius will be delighted to have you as a big brother!"
"We are going to adopt you", Godric confirmed, an amused smile on his lips, "and we were planning to do that anyways, even before you were throwing your little tantrum, that is the reason why our meeting with Fudge took longer."
"Sorry", Sirius said in a small voice, then he looked over to Harry and Remus, who had been listening to their conversation in quiet astonishment, "are you…okay with this?", he finally asked, "I…I am sorry…it's just…I am happier…and…", he did not know what else to say, so he hung his head.
Harry was the first one to speak, "of course I am fine with it! I mean, I am going to miss you as my godfather, but…I just…I want you to be happy, Sirius."
"Thank you, Harry", he smiled through the tears, then he looked over to Remus, who seemed to be a lot less enthusiastic than Harry.
"This is really what you want, Sirius?", he asked in a low voice, "you know there is a time limit on that deaging potion- at some point, you will be unable to change back to your adult self."
"I know- and this is what I want, Remus", Sirius responded, his voice steady, "you knew my parents…I never had…a real childhood, I was never happy…and I am happy now."
Remus looked at him thoughtfully, obviously processing what he had said, and then he nodded, "I understand", he responded quietly, "well, I guess I will have to drink my beer by myself tonight then."
"You can always ask Snape", Sirius replied wickedly, and Remus started to laugh, "I am going to miss you, Padfoot."
"I will visit often", Sirius promised, suddenly feeling so light he thought he could fly, I have a family now…I am not alone anymore.
Tom looked around the cell, a smug smile on his face.
Phase three had gone just as smoothly as phase two- he had gotten transferred to the less secured sector.
The cell was far from luxurious, but the bed was big and comfortable, the bathroom, hidden behind a curtain, had a toilet, a sink, and a shower, and he got food four times a day instead of three, he had a window to look outside, and he was allowed to have visitors and use the library.
Obviously, no one was going to visit him- not that he wanted any visitors anyways- but he had already been to the library, and now he spent his days reading and sleeping and playing mind games with the wardens, and overall, he really could not complain.
Phase four, the final phase, was going to be his escape- but for right now, there was no rush- he wanted to make sure everyone thought he was a good little prisoner, so that his escape would go just as smoothly.
Besides, it had gotten cold, and it was raining nonstop, so why bother to hide somewhere in this kind of weather?
Tom grinned to himself and snuggled closer under his blanket. He was warm and full and his book was exciting- how he wished Gryffindor could see him now, he would be furious.
That bastard was in for a shock at his trial, and he could not wait to see his face when he had to realize that he was not going to go to Azkaban!
He snickered, and then kept reading- and forgot everything around himself, just like he always did, therefore, he barely realized that one of the wardens brought his dinner, and he did not even realize when he yawned, he kept reading.
Until a strange, unfamiliar noise took him right out of his blissful trance.
He blinked, looked up from his book, suddenly perceiving that it had gotten dark outside, and- that he had a visitor.
His heart seemed to stop beating for a second, then he got up from his bed slowly, "what the hell do you want here?"
Harry looked up when Ron came over to him, "are you still doing homework? It's almost nine, mate", he grinned at him and took a sip of the bottle with butterbeer he was holding.
"I…I just wanted to finish this tonight", Harry mumbled, "forgot about time, you know."
"What homework is this anyw- wait, Potions? You are working this late for Snape?", Ron snorted into his drink, laughing, "and that stuff is not due til Friday, so I am planning to do it Thursday night."
Harry forced himself to grin back, "we have some Quidditch practices coming up, that is going to take a lot of my time this week- and you know, I don't want to get on Snape's bad side again."
After it took me almost four years to get on his good side.
"I understand", said Ron, even though he looked like he didn't- and who could blame him?
If he was being honest to himself, he did not know when it had started- that feeling that he wanted Snape to acknowledge him, to praise him, and even worse- he wanted the man to be proud of him.
Obviously, he was not going to tell Ron that- it was difficult enough to admit it to himself at this point.
After Voldemort and the Death Eaters had been captured, the army was useless- there were no more meetings, no more secrets, no more talking to Snape, discussing what to do, talking about Dumbledore, talking about the Founders…and God, he missed talking to Snape.
He talked to Remus, daily even, but it was not the same- Remus had always treated him more like a friend, more like he was a reincarnated James Potter, whereas Snape had treated him like…like…
Harry sighed, why was he doing this to himself? Snape barely called on him in class, he basically ignored him at this point, so why was he sitting here doing this stupid homework anyways?
A sudden wave of anger washed over him, and he stood up, "I think I am done for tonight", he declared, "you wanna play some Exploding Snap?"
"Now you are talking!", Ron grinned again, "come on, let's see if Neville wants to join us."
Harry followed his best friend across the common room, secretly more than relieved to take his mind off the situation with Snape.
Sirius sighed contentedly, his bed was so incredibly soft…and warm…
"Everything alright, Sirius?", Salazar was smiling at him, "do you need anything else?"
"I…am good…thank you. Today was…", he swallowed, "I had a lot of fun."
Exploring Gryffindor Manor, playing with Aurelius, having the most delicious dinner, being bathed by Salazar, and now having this amazing bedroom all to himself- it felt like a dream come true.
"I am glad you are happy here", Salazar's smile was soft, "have a good night, Sirius- I love you."
"I love you, too", he answered without hesitation, "good night, Da…Salazar."
The Slytherin pretended not to hear the slip, he had told Sirius that he could call him Dad, or Daddy, or Salazar, and he knew it would take Sirius some time to say dad consciously.
He left the room and softly closed the door, smiling to himself. It had been the right decision to adopt Sirius- the boy was going to thrive here, and finally would have the childhood he deserved.
Sirius listened to Salazar's footsteps fading, and he snuggled into the covers. It was raining outside, the wind was howling, and his bed was nice and cozy…
He dozed off, and woke up hours later by a loud noise.
Thunder.
Sirius started to tremble, a memory flashing back into his mind, he had always hated thunderstorms, and his dad had always punished him for being afraid.
You are a Black, act like it!
Sirius squeezed his eyes shut, it was fine, just thunder…just noise…
The thunderstorm got worse, and Sirius let out a terrified whimper.
I am scared…please…
Another rumbling sound, he screamed into his pillow, and then- there was light, and strong arms picking him up and holding him close, "shshsh…I got you…it's going to be okay…"
Gryffindor.
Sirius sobbed, "I…I am sorry…"
"Nothing to be sorry about, Little Star", Gryffindor smiled, "Aurelius does not like thunderstorms either, he always sneaks into bed with us then."
Sirius fought an inner battle for a moment, "can…can I…come…"
"I thought you'd never ask", Godric laughed softly, "let's go. Aurelius is already waiting for you- and Salazar made hot chocolate for you boys."
"I love you", Sirius blurted out, pressing himself against Gryffindor, "I love you, Dad."
And he did not even hear the thunder anymore when Godric looked at him and said: "I love you, too, son."
Albus Dumbledore came closer, a strange glint in his eyes, "surprised to see me, Voldemort?"
"What do you want?", Tom repeated coldly, "it's late."
"Is it?", Dumbledore stared at him now, the glint in his eyes became stronger, "well, time has certainly been kind to you- look at you, all…young, and wild, and handsome."
Tom's throat suddenly felt dry, "what…are you talking about?", he managed to croak.
"You, Tom, I am talking about you- when I first saw you, you were just a little kid, no one to be bothered with, but now- you are a big boy now, aren't you?"
He started to sweat, panic slowly spreading through his body, where were the wardens? It must have been midnight at least, or was he just having a nightmare?
Dumbledore entered his cell and Tom shrank back, "stay away from me!"
Albus laughed scornfully, "do you think I take orders from you, big boy?"
"Fuck off, or I am going to tell!"
"Who? Who are you going to tell? Do you really think there is anyone out there who cares about you? You are useless. You have no one, Voldemort, and no one is going to believe you", he came even closer, "we are going to have a lot of fun, just you…and me", he grabbed him, fondling him, and Tom struggled, filled with loathing and raw fear, what was he going to do? Dumbledore was right, there was no one who gave a shit, no one- except, maybe…
No. No, of course not. Gryffindor would probably laugh his ass off it he saw him now, all scared and humiliated, maybe he had even sent Dumbledore? To punish him?
The thought alone made him want to throw up, and he gathered all his strength and slammed into Dumbledore, "get off me, you sick old bastard!"
Albus stumbled, he almost fell, and then he shot him a look that was pure murder, "you will regret this, big boy!", he hissed, "just wait until your trial is over- I will find you, and I will make you pay!"
He disappeared in the hallway, and Tom sank to his knees, trembling, feeling furious and degraded.
He got no sleep that night.
yeah...Dumbles is a sicko in this story...and this won't be the last awful thing he does.
the next chap has some harry& snape confrontation, and tom and godric will meet again- which won't go too well (surprise, surprise!)
if you enjoy this story, please leave me a review! :)
