(A/N) Alright! I swear I'm trying to pick an actual specialization for Sakura. It's just so hard!
Mito started their specialization days easy. Ninjutsu.
She could teach this one herself, so she did.
"First things first," she instructed, handing each of them a piece of paper. "It's not hard to tell what your elemental affinities are likely to be, but it's good to check."
"Mine's probably going to be wind!" Naruto cheered, bouncing up and down. "Like my dad and mom!"
Mito inclined her head. "Sasuke, you're most likely to be fire or maybe lightning because of your clan, Sakura, you have a fair chance of being anything, but since you are from Konoha you're most likely to be fire since it's the most common affinity."
Naruto, ever excited and ready to go, pushed chakra into the paper and it immediately split in half down the middle. "Whoo!" He shouted, throwing the pieces in the air. "Wind!"
"Sasuke, why don't you go next?" Mito suggested. "You push chakra into the paper to activate it."
Sasuke eyed the paper warily, but did as instructed. The paper crinkled around his fingers, the edges starting to burn.
"Fire and lightning," Mito said, nodding. "I thought so. Sakura?"
Sakura pushed chakra into the paper, and part of it crumbled to dust while part of it became damp with water.
"Duel water and earth," Mito knew she sounded impressed, which she was. Two affinities rare for Konoha, and when she hadn't practiced jutsu of either element either. "We have all five elements here, very impressive. I'm glad I thought to ask Shisui and Itachi for D-rank jutsu of all elements."
"You didn't know enough before?" Sasuke asked, somewhat scathingly.
"I don't know very many D-rank jutsu," Mito admitted freely. "My arsenal tends to be B and A-rank jutsu primarily, with a few S-ranks. So no, I didn't know enough before. I don't know many C-rank jutsu either, so I'll probably ask them again when it comes time to teach you some of those."
Sasuke just huffed annoyedly, so Mito ignored him for the moment, making two shadow clones. "Sakura, Sasuke, you go with the shadow clones. I believe Naruto is far more likely to pop one, so I'll have to do him personally. If you want to be caught up in the inevitable blowing up of a wind jutsu when Naruto over loads it with chakra, be my guest and stay here. If not, my clones know where to go."
"I'm going!" Sakura squeaked, racing after the clone that led her away. Sasuke glared at her for a moment longer, then went with her clone. Mito just sighed at his back.
"Whadda mean when I inevitably blow it up!" Naruto squawked after a moment. "I won't blow it up!"
"Naruto, my dear, you have massive amounts of chakra and not very much control. You're going to blow it up at least twice before you manage it. I know this because it's what happens to most Uzumaki the first time they try a low level jutsu. It happened to your mother, it happened to me, it is going to happen to you child."
Naruto just pouted. "I'm going to try anyway. I'm not going to blow it up!"
He blew it up. And the next eight tries. Tenth try it didn't blow up, but it certainly wasn't stable yet. The next three were blown up in Naruto's excitement over the slightly successful try.
Her clones popped a moment later to let her know Sasuke and Sakura were heading home, having managed at least two successful runs of their jutsu. Mito was glad Sakura's chakra reserves were at least up to that. They needed to be improved more, but it was a slow process. Well, she and Naruto would be here for a while. Good thing they had plenty of leftovers in the fridge at the moment and she'd been planning to do a leftover night anyway.
The next specialization on the list was medical ninjutsu, or at least a basic introduction to what it was. Mito left a clone with Naruto. Well, she left ten, but the other nine were hidden and just backups. She figured he could manage on his own for today while she taught what she knew about medical ninjutsu.
"Now, this is possibly one of the most important specializations," Mito said firmly. "Taijutsu and ninjutsu are all well and good, but if you get injured, what then? If you break a bone, or get a burn, what then?"
"A medical professional," Sakura said immediately. "They're the best suited to deal with it. Although basic first aid is taught in the academy."
"First aid only goes so far," Mito reminded her. "There are some things I simply cannot teach you because it requires a demonstration and I don't feel like injuring myself or you to demonstrate things like stitches or fixing broken bones."
"We were taught to relocate joints!" Sakura volunteered.
"Good, but that won't help with a broken bone," Mito told her. "This is simply me making sure you know how important it is you pay attention to this basic course and even if you don't go into the field yourself, anything you learn may come in handy later. You'll be in the hospital tomorrow, learning from actual medic nin."
"Then what can you teach us," Sasuke huffed.
Mito channeled healing chakra to her hand, and held it up. "I know basic healing jutsu, and how to use it. It will come in great use and is the basis for every following medical jutsu."
Sakura was watching attentively, interested, and Sasuke looked uninterested and bored. Perhaps she'd be able to change his mind.
"I doubt your brother or your cousin is capable of anything past maybe a basic medical jutsu at most," Mito remarked casually. "Well, actually, I doubt there have been any Uchiha medics since the Warring Clans Era. You'd be the first in a long time."
Ah there we go, she had his attention now. He was looking far more interested in the medical side of things now. She thought that would work. Good to know it was working.
Well, perhaps it had worked too well since now, two days after that, Sasuke actually wanted to become a medic now. Mito was fully on board with this, it was about time the Uchiha clan produced a medic. This was going to be great. Even if now she had to deal with Fugaku getting very annoyed with her over this. Maybe she'd write to Itachi, who'd probably be delighted at this turn of things. Perhaps he could convince his dad to knock it off.
Sakura had decided medic wasn't for her, and had decided to look at the other options instead. Mito wasn't inordinately surprised, she'd seemed a bit aggressive for just a medical path. Punching things seemed more her style than fixing them anyway.
(A/N) Well now we know Sasuke and Naruto. Just gotta figure out Sakura. Great.
