A/N Hey, guys. Welcome back to more of The Hawthorne Twins season one fanfic series. So first off, I hope you guys are staying safe out there, waiting your turn to get a vaccine since we're still living in this world of pandemic. Second, I want to thank you guys for sticking with me so far as the the story progresses. Third, I want to apologize to writer AvidMovieFan16 for the previous chapter. And fourth, this sixth chapter is the continuation of where the fifth chapter left off. In this sixth chapter, Luke tries out for the football team and Leia learns the truth about Veronica's backstory. But, anyway, this is the sixth chapter, and here we go.

I only own my OCs Luke and Leia.

After debating on whether he should try out for the football team, Luke decided to try out and prove that his old skills hasn't left him. But this would give him an opportunity to talk to Archie and find out what has happened in the summer time.

"Excuse me!" he called as he ran out to the football field.

"Can I help you?" asked Coach Clayton.

"Is there an open spot on the football team? I want to try it out and prove myself." Luke replied.

"Sure. Grab a jersey and show me what you got." said Coach Clayton.

"Thank you, coach!" said Luke as he grabbed the jersey and ran to the change room.

After a few minutes of changing into his new football uniform, Luke admired the number 19 on his jersey as he ran out on to the football field and started using his old skills to practice.

'Glad to see that my football skills hasn't left me. I hope everything is still in me.' he thought.

"Hey, young man! Come over here!" Coach Clayton called and gestured the older Hawthorne twin to come over.

"What's up?" asked Luke as he ran and took off his helmet.

"What's your name, son?" asked Coach Clayton.

"Luke Hawthorne. The son of Daniel and Natalie Hawthorne." Luke replied.

This made Coach Clayton pause. He hasn't heard the names Daniel and Natalie for so long.

"After seeing your skills, this proves that you're something more. We are gonna need a player like you to help us win our games." said Coach Clayton.

"What does that mean?" asked Luke.

"Welcome to the Rivedale Bulldogs." Coach Clayton declared.

The older Hawthorne twin stood in shock. He wasn't sure if he heard it wrong. Coach Clayton had just told him that he's on the football team Riverdale Bulldogs.

"Thank you, coach! I won't let you down!" said Luke as he returned to the football field and joined his new teammates.

Meanwhile with Leia, the younger twin is in the girls' locker room with Betty and Veronica, getting changed into her cheerleading uniform after the heated debate with Cheryl.

"Perfect," Veronica commented. "Very Betty Draper season one."

Looking around the room, Betty asks Veronica a question.

"Veronica. Why did…why did you defend me?" asked Betty.

Leia frowned upon hearing the question. She actually wanted to ask Veronica about that.

"I know the crowd you ran with in New York." Betty said. "Why are you being so nice?"

"When my father got arrested…it was the worst thing ever." Veronica explained.

The younger Hawthorne twin blinked as she listened. The three friends are walking past the football field, having a heart to heart conversation.

"All these trolls started writing horrible things about us." Veronica continued.

Leia continued to listen, wanting to hear more about Veronica's backstory.

"We'd get letters and e-mails saying that my dad was a thief…my mom was a clueless socialite…and that I was this spoiled, rich bitch, ice princess. And what hurt the most about it was…the things the trolls were writing…were true."

This made the younger twin pause. She and Luke had seen reports of Veronica's father being arrested for his financial crimes while Veronica and Hermione were living in New York.

"I was like Cheryl," said Veronica. "I was worse than Cheryl. So, when my mom said we were moving to Riverdale…I made a pact with myself. To use this as an opportunity to become maybe, hopefully…a better version of myself."

"Veronica, don't ever compare yourself to Cheryl. She's just a mean person." said Leia.

"That's a lot of pressure," Betty remarked.

She exhaled before the blonde continued.

"When Polly and Jason got together…it meant everything to her and nothing to him." Betty informed Veronica.

"And things got super intense and weird and toxic…and my mom turned on Polly. Said Polly wasn't her daughter anymore. Said all these awful things to her. Jason hurt Polly. But it's my mom who broke her. She's the reason why Polly ran away from home."

Veronica frowned, sympathizing with her new friend and Leia could feel her heart breaking into a million pieces. She and her brother never met or knew Jason and Polly personally.

Just then, the three girls spotted Archie and Luke, dressed in football gear, among the other jocks. The two boys came running over to the girls.

"Archie!" Veronica called.

"You're so doing this," She said to Betty.

"What?" Betty asked, confused.

"Slaying your dragons, Betty Cooper, one by one." Veronica said.

"Hi, Teen Outlander." She greeted the red head.

"Hey, nice outfits." Archie commented, gesturing to the girls' uniforms.

"You look good in your football gear, Luke." Leia said to her older twin.

"Thanks. You look nice in our cheerleading outfit." Luke said to his younger twin.

"Betty here has something she wants to ask you about the back-to-school dance." Veronica informed.

"Go on, Betty, ask." She encouraged.

"I was wondering if you wanted to come…with both of us," said Betty.

"Huh?" Archie asked, puzzled.

"What?" Veronica asked.

"Hold the phone. Is this about the back to school semi-formal?" asked Luke.

"I want to go, too. Maybe my brother can go and be an escort out of the five of us." said Leia.

"It's your first dance at Riverdale," Betty pointed out. "You should have someone to go even if it's just a friend."

"I mean, I'd love to." Veronica agreed.

"No, I'm not really in the headspace for a dance." Archie declined.

"Oh, that's okay." Betty said.

"Totally unacceptable, Archiekins." Veronica disagreed. "We need an escort."

"Take a break from being a tortured musical genius…and come spend a blissful evening with not one, but two newly-minted River Vixens." Veronica suggested.

"Make that three newly minted River Vixens." Leia corrected Veronica.

"Come on, Archie. It wouldn't hurt. You need to be outside of your comfort zone." said Luke.

"We'll text you time and place."

"Heh, okay. Yeah, okay. Bye." Archie agreed, grinning.

"Later on, Vixens." said Luke as he walked away and joined Archie.

"Bye," Betty and Veronica exchanged glances, smiling.

"Good luck, Riverdale Bulldogs!" Leia called to her older twin brother.

"Whatever you say, River Vixen! Good luck with your new cheerleading squad!" Luke called back to his younger twin sister wihout turning around.

And that will be the end of the sixth chapter for now. So what do you guys think so far? Love it? Hate it? I apologize for not updating because I'm almost close to finishing my final semester in the next few weeks and most of all, spring break got cancelled last month and everyone wasn't happy about it. I'm taking my time to write this project as well as my other current projects that I'm working on right now. In the next chapter, the twins discuss about the squad they joined and they face their certain future ahead of them. The back to school semi formal chapter and the discovery of Jason Blossom's dead body coming up soon. So I'll see you guys in the next chapter. Take care, continue to stay safe out there, and keep drinking water every week to keep yourselves hydrated.
