Chapter 5
Weekends were always special for the Cosma family. It was a time when Timmy was released from his earthly duties. Which allowed the family of four (soon to be five) to relax a little. It was the time when the toddler was closest to his old self after his parent's unfortunate demise. They had bought a house in Fairy Woods, the richest part of Fairy World. Which was sparsely populated their house sat on an acre of land away from people and the fairy council. It was also perfect for the two toddlers to practice their very unstable magic without worry. After class, they poofed directly towards their house in Fairy World.
Timmy raised his rattle and dropped his backpack. Going from his usual human self to fairies. His wings spread and he flew into the air which was natural to him. It was always different from his human form. "So what do you want to do Poof? I don't have any homework." Poof smiled for a moment.
"Poof Poof!" Poof said happily. With that, the two toddlers dashed off towards another area in the house. Leaving Cosmo and Wanda alone in the living room. Wanda could only shake her head. With that, she raised her wand and poofed the backpack away.
"Those two I swear," she spoke to her husband. Cosmo could only shrug his shoulders. "So what do you want to do?"
"Well-"
"Oh is that it," she asked. With that, she kissed him on the lips. "So what do you think we should name our daughter?"
Three days was a long time to wait. They started by heading to his empty house. Went to his school which was closed for the weekend. And after that, all the family could do which was turned into a vacation. Since it was a Friday there was no proof of him living. They checked his old house which had been cleaned to the point it was brand new. As if no one had ever lived there almost like magic. Which was a knotting feeling in his stomach. His cousin, wand-wavers, and magic. Which was quickly tying itself into only one specific creature. Fairies. Which left him rather uncomfortable at the thought. Fairies. But while his parents were focused on the party he went to work.
Danny and Valerie stayed behind his family who decided to take time to the beach. Which made him question their curiosity for his cousin, but he likely wouldn't appear till Monday. He transformed into his ghost form with a deep focus claw-like talons appeared outside his hands. With that, he drew an 'X' and pulled it open. Which allowed him to transfer between the Ghost Zone and Earth. Pulling it open so it formed a circle he turned towards his girlfriend, "Ready?" She nodded her head and with that the two of them entered the room.
Stepping into the ghost zone the portal collapses upon itself. Stranding them in the Ghost Zone. Valerie was in her metal suit as a giant hovering board appeared beneath her feet. With that Danny pulled out the infimap which he kept on himself most of the time. Valerie grabbed the other side and with that, "Take us to the Ghostwriter!" And within the instance, they were zipped through the infinitely vast space that was the Ghost Realm. After about an hour even at the near speeds still took some time they finally came upon the giant castle library of Ghost Writer.
Stepping inside they could see the giant ghost who was sitting at his table. With that, the two of them separated from one another going to different sections of the library. If there was one thing true, the Ghost Writer had more books than even the US congressional library. "Hey, Hey, Hey! Ghost child, what are you doing within this room? Uninvited, unwanted, unnerved. Too dally-"
"Found it!" She yelled, both of them had dealt with him a few more times than they had the desire to care. Valerie slammed the book onto a table that was floating; it had a picture of a humanoid-like creature. With deep butterfly-like wings, a small wand, a pointy six-pointed crown above its head. "I have no clue what language this is in. Hey, paintbrush spread the gems. What's the catch? With the wand-wavers. I've been trying for weeks to unravel this mystery."
"Ah," the Ghostwriter said. After fixing his ghostly glasses he looked over the image. Raining his hand the book raised into the air. "I fail to see how you ghost-child have any such fascination with such a being. For even a toddler could bring you below in pain. But hey that's none of my business," he just shrugged his shoulders. "Wand-wavers as they are called or fairies. Are a relatively young race though not too much younger than we. At this time the earth was a hell molten, lava infested. Ash-ridden wasteland where not even a single clump of rock had yet to form."
"In this time do not fall for fool's errand. When I mean lava I do not mean the molten rock with which you humans are so fascinated by. No, I mean of a more dangerous variety. At this time the earth was swamped with ectoplasm so high it ran like water. As thick as grease and deadly as the most dangerous plague. Within this time it is said that the first forms of magic clumped. How and why? A question that shall never be answered. Over the billions of years in this time which was called the 'ectoplasmordic' age. Our ancestors formed. It is believed that upon the very first laugh to ever be echoed the first fairy was born."
"And?" Valerie asked annoyed. "Get to the point."
"Calm down," he replied. "I'm getting there. These early wand-wavers were dangerous. Their tutelage towards magic was unwavering and experimental. Differences between them and anti-fairies didn't exist. Nor did they have any medium to channel magic. Which made them wild and uncontrollable. So our early ancestors went to war against their rowdy neighbors. Who just by a simple poof! Could cause massive problems, but our ancestors. Didn't understand or apprentice these beings. And in response four of the most powerful members of their species. Rose together and crafted this realm in which we inhabit. And banished our ancestors to this realm which we inhabit till this day."
"Magic?" Danny asked.
"Ah, magic. Quite like how our body ghost-child is born from that of ectoplasm. Hers are made of carbon, the fairies are born of magic. A quirky irrational substance. That overpowers our kind. A simple touch from their youngest could wreck whole armies. And there are many more species who inhabit this earth, but for some reason or another. They refuse to reveal themselves to humans. This book is all I have on them."
Danny frowned, "Can you at least translate this book into something we can read?" Ghostwriter frowned, but Danny raised his fist. Allowing a giant glow of green energy. "Or we could do other things."
"No no no!" Ghostwriter said. Shaking his hand, "I'll translate it as close as I can, but it will take me some time." He cursed under his breath, but Valerie could only shake her head. "Worthless slop-"
"I'm guessing we're going to find the rest of this with the wand-wavers and this book." Valerie spoke, "I swear…"
