A/N: There's one more part after this. Then this piece that came to me practically overnight will be posted.

Time went on and we managed to find a little more information but not what we wanted to know. Our call to Shuri didn't give us hope either. She was currently busy helping her brother repair the issues that had arisen from their five year gap. We understood and she promised as soon as she had time she would let us know. So we went on with our lives. Bucky went to his therapy sessions and together with Steve they managed to help Sam out with whatever government contract came his way. They weren't gone for long periods of time, Steve wouldn't allow it, but they were gone more often than either of them wanted to be. Steve tried to be home whenever Lily had an appointment but it wasn't always manageable so when he couldn't I would be there in his place. I had managed to find a job helping out at the outreach center not too far from our home. Lily talked me into it and said it was the least we could do given everything we had gained from snapping back. So three days a week we found ourselves surrounded by troubled youths just looking for someone to listen to them. It was during one of these that we heard about a group of people trying to take down the governments. They believe that things were better during the blip and they wanted to put it back. We immediately told Steve and Bucky who gave the information to Sam. Steve wanted us to stop going to the center and Bucky agreed with him. We didn't want to give it up but the looks on their faces had us convinced that it was the right thing to do. So we planned to go the next morning to give our notice.

"I promise Bucky, straight there and straight back." I said as I kissed him goodbye.

"I mean it doll, straight there."

"Yes Soldier I'll be right back."

"Come on Cora let's roll." Lily said as she smiled at Bucky.

"You watch yourself. You get hurt and Steve will literally kick my ass up and down the street."

"Yeah yeah I hear ya." She laughed as we closed the door behind us, "They're such worry warts."

I laughed and we climbed into the car.

The center was about fifteen minutes from the house and before we knew it our resignation had been turned in.

"Miss Cora," I turned as we started heading out the door and found my favorite little youth waiting for me.

"Paige, what's going on girl? I thought you were out of here."

She smiled and handed me a note. "I wanted to say thank you."

I smiled down at her, tears in my eyes. "You be good, okay. And remember you're not alone okay?"

She smiled then wrapped her arms around my waist. "I'll miss you Miss Cora."

"Me too kiddo." She pulled back then ran to join her friends.

"Awe you made a friend." Lily said as I rolled my eyes at her.

"She reminded me of myself, so closed off and emotionless. It's nice to see her so alive."

"Closed off and emotionless sounds exactly like your file."

I whirled around and saw a man standing behind us.

"Who the hell are you?"

"Oh no one really important. But you are. Both of you really."

"What do you know about us?" Lily asked as he smiled.

"Well I know you miss possess the ability to make me do whatever you want huh? And you well you're just interesting."

"How do you know any of that?" I said, slowly pushing Lily behind me.

"Hm well you made a mistake when you took Lilja to the hospital a few months ago. You gave your real name."

I looked back and Lily was crying. "Lily?"

"I didn't mean to. God damnit I didn't mean to Cora."

I nodded and looked back at the man before us.

"What do you want?"

"Nothing too big, just you two."

I stood up taller as Lily's hands came to my back. "No."

"Yes, and I can say one thing to make you do it too."

I stared at him, my eyes filling with tears. My worst fear was coming to life. "Please don't." I whispered.

"Then come with me."

I turned and looked down at Lily. "I'm sorry. I love you, all of you." She stared at me and I turned back at the guy.

"Just me. I'll go no trouble but just take me. She's pregnant and her powers don't work right now. So she would be no use to you in her condition." I lied hoping like hell he would believe me.

"Figures. Fine you're coming with me." He walked forward and grabbed my forearm.

"Cora!" Lily cried and I looked at her.

"Go." I said before I was dragged out of the building and thrown into a black car next to the curb.

My worst fear had come to pass and I could only hope that Bucky would be able to save me.

Bucky POV:

Straight there and straight back. That's what she said they were going to do. I paced the living room, waiting for them to get back as my stomach turned. I had a terrible feeling the second they closed that door and it hadn't gone away the entire time they'd been gone. If anything it had gotten worse.

"BUCKY!" Lily screamed as she ran through the door.

I grabbed her before she fell and her eyes were red from crying.

"Lily? Where's Cora?"

She cried as she clung to me gasping through her sobs. I picked her up gently and set her down on the couch before kneeling in front of her.

"Breath Lily, this isn't good for the baby. Just breath."

She took a few minutes and calmed down slightly before clutching my hand in hers.

"They took her Bucky."

"Who?"

"I don't know. Some guy that knew about us. I'm so sorry I made a mistake. I used my real name at the hospital and they found us somehow."

"Fuck." I said as I started pacing.

"Cora wouldn't let him take me too. She lied, told him my powers don't work when I'm pregnant."

"Why? Why did she go with him?"

"He threatened to use her phrase Bucky. He was going to take her no matter what."

My stomach sank. Cora had just confessed to me a week ago that her biggest fear was someone using that phrase to take control of her. She had heard what happened to me, not only from my accounts but also from Steve. She didn't want that happening to her and I had agreed.

"Fuck!" I screamed as I punched a hole in the wall.

"Whoa what's going on?" Steve said as he closed the door behind him.

We filled him in on what had happened and immediately contacted Sam. If anyone could find out what was going on it would be him.

Cora POV:

"Let me go." I said as I stared at the ugly asshole in front of me.

"You know I'm getting real sick and tired of your mouth."

"Fuck you." I whispered and he laughed.

He turned to his buddy who was standing behind him, a leather notebook in his hand. "Should we have some fun?" He asked and the other guy smiled.

"Petit il est temps de rentrer à la maison."

My entire body shut down and my vision went dark.

Bucky POV:

It had been two weeks since Cora had been taken. Sam had only been able to find one group who was capable of it. There was a small group of people who believed that Hydra was the true power in the world and they had managed to get a lot of the intel files the same as we had. Only they were using them to restart a Hydra plan. Fortunately it was only a small group and they had not yet been able to do much with the pieces of the puzzle that they had. Sam had concluded that most likely they're the one who took Cora based on what Lily was able to tell them. Sam was also able to help us locate the two phrases for each of the girls that would control them only there was more.

"So you're saying with these triggers if said correctly they will either activate us or deactivate us?" Lily asked as Sam nodded.

"Yes but there's a catch. You didn't finish."

"What?"

"Yeah wait what?" Steve asked. And I laughed.

"Why didn't I figure that out?" I laughed as I walked across the room.

"Feel like filling us in there Bucky?" Lily asked and I nodded.

"My programming was filled with pain. They could control me because they hurt me to get that control. The phrase works but to keep me in control I had to be tortured and my mind wiped every single time. You get what I'm saying?"

She looked at me and nodded. "There's no mention of torture or memory wiping in the files."

"Because they hadn't gotten to it yet. Cora and you escaped before that could happen."

"We left in the middle of the night. Cora woke me up and we ran. I didn't ever really think about it but maybe she knew. Maybe not consciously but subconsciously maybe she knew what was coming."

"And she saved you both." Sam said as I nodded.

"So what does this mean then?"

"It means if they do activate her, they won't be able to control her. She will just react and if she's violent it will be directed at anyone even them."

"And they might be too stupid to realize that right?" She asked and I nodded.

"That's what I'm counting on." I said as she sighed.

Lily looked at Steve then over at Sam. "What's my phrase?"

"Lily," Steve said and she shook her head.

"We need to see what happens when it's said. So let's say it and then just deactivate me." She looked at him and smiled.

"Lily it might be dangerous."

"Or it might save Cora. And I owe her everything Steve."

He stared at her before nodding.

"Well my Swedish sucks so I probably shouldn't say it." Sam said as he handed the file to Steve.

"It's in Swedish," Lily asked as she chuckled.

"Cora's is in French." I said and she smiled.

"Her's is probably pretty."

"Actually you have the same phrases." Steve said as he looked at me.

"The exact same?" I walked over and looked at the file.

I saw immediately that they were identical just in two different languages. It was very clever when you thought about it.

"Holy shit."

Steve laughed and Lily smiled at him. "Language Bucky."

I glared at her and Steve went to sit next to her.

"Are you sure about this?"

"Positive. Do it okay? But bring me right back, understand? Don't let me hurt you." She whispered and he nodded.

"Okay my Swedish is rusty like war time rusty. So let's give this a shot." He took a deep breath then looked right into Lily's eyes, "Lite det är dags att komma hem."

The change was instantaneous. One second she was the normal bubbly Lily and the next she was staring at us with dead eyes.

"What do you want?" she said as she glared at Steve.

"Just to know what you want." Steve asked as she looked him up and down.

"Where is Cora?" She asked and he looked at me.

"You have her?" She asked as she stood up.

"No," I backed up as she got closer, "She's taken."

"By who." She asked as she got closer to me. I felt my back hit the wall as she stopped in front of me.

"We don't know." Her movements were faster than I thought they'd be as she punched me in the gut. I gasped and she laughed.

"You don't know huh?"

She stood up and turned to face Steve. As she started to advance on him I grabbed her arms to hold her back and Sam got in front of Steve.

"Read the damn words Steve!" I yelled as Lily tried to break out of my grasp.

"I'm trying, Okay here," He said as he looked at Lily, "Liten du ar hemma."

She immediately went limp in my arms and Steve dropped the file to catch her.

"We are not doing that again." He said as he picked her up and took her from the room.

"I second that." Sam said and I nodded.

"If they already activated Cora that's probably what they dealt with."

"Then she's probably gone or out there somewhere."

"I'll find her Sam. Wherever she is I'll find her."

Steve came back out later that night and sat on the couch next to me.

"She doesn't remember anything."

"She doesn't remember kicking my ass?"

"I sure will." Sam said from the kitchen.

Steve chuckled and sighed. "No but now we know what we're dealing with. They're just like you, Bucky strong but uncontrollable."

"And that means if Cora is out there activated then she's capable of doing some damage."

He turned to me and nodded.

"I'm sorry we had to do this to Lily."

"She isn't. She wanted to know what she was capable of and now that she does, she wants it gone."

"Can't say I blame her."

"Steve," Lily said as she walked out into the main room. "Go get me some ice cream." She said she stared into his eyes.

I looked over and Steve was already moving to the kitchen.

"No, go get the good stuff from that fast food joint I like."

He didn't even acknowledge her, he just walked out the door.

"Lily?" I asked and she looked down at me.

"I kept the powers. I don't know how and I don't know how I know it but I have them." Her eyes lit up as she smiled.

"Are you telling me that Steve left because you told him to." I stood up and stared at her.

"Bucky sit your ass back down." I immediately fell back into the couch.

"Shit."

"Yeah."

"Well this is new."

I spent the next week making sure that my French was perfect in order to get the phrase exactly right. I had no idea where Cora was, but if she was anything like Lily had been I had a feeling she would come to us. The only thing Lily had been concerned about was Cora and finding out where she was.

"So I only wanted Cora?" Lily asked as I went over the phrases one more time.

"You punched me because I didn't know so yeah I'll say that's all you wanted." I glared at her and she laughed.

"I'm still pissed you made me walk fifteen blocks to get you ice cream." Steve muttered as he walked past her.

"And I've said sorry honey like forty times." She called and he grumbled back at her.

"Sometimes I wonder about you two." I said as I went back to reading.

"You think you got it this time?"

"Yeah I'm pretty sure. I just have to lay out a trap now."

"You want to lure her to you?"

I turned around and nodded. "I won't put you in danger but you might be the only person that can help me get her back."

"Then I'll help you and if Steve has an issue with it I'll just make him go away."

"I heard that!" Steve called and I laughed.

"I'm kidding." She yelled then looked at me, "But seriously I'll help no questions asked."

"Thanks Lily."

So with Lily's offer to help we started working on a plan. Cora couldn't have gone far but we also couldn't be certain that they had not taken her farther than a city or two away. Sam decided to leak some information out that he knew the location of a hydra child. He gave enough away to prove it was real but hid Lily's identity. Within a week his information paid off. Someone had taken the bait and was trying to locate the hydra child. They didn't give their name, just sent texts daily asking for confirmation and any other information that Sam would be able to give. We kept the texts simple, never revealing enough to give it away. Finally the person grew frustrated and asked to meet with Sam. We agreed on a meeting time for the following night and I prepared to get my girl back.

"If she fights you, you can't hold back Bucky." Lily whispered while Steve got our stuff together. I slowly turned to her and cocked my head to the side.

"But you didn't remember?"

"I lied. And you let me hit you." She said, her eyes connecting with mine, "You can't do that with Cora. She's stronger than me Bucky. I'm starting to remember some things and one of those is Cora's strength. So you don't hold back. Trust me she wont hold it against you."

I nodded and went back to getting things ready.

"I'll do my best."

"Your best won't cut it Soldier. You need to do better than that."

"I will."

"If you don't," She walked in front of me and stared at me, "I'll make you."

She walked away and for the first time I wondered if Lily was more dangerous than I originally thought.

Cora POV:

Someone had Lilja and they were gloating about it. I clutched the phone that'd I'd taken weeks ago in my hand, careful not to crush it. It was my only way of finding her and I wasn't going to lose that. I'd been searching for her since the morons had uttered that fucking sentence and I'd gotten nowhere until one of them handed me a phone with a code. She was alive and someone had her.

"Let us out." The moron I'd come to learn was named Hank, yelled from his cell.

"No." I said as I crouched down in front of his cell.

"Let us go you fucking bitch."

I laughed as the other idiot two cells down tried to say a bunch of words in French over and over again.

I walked towards him and he cringed as he looked up at me. "How's the hand Lance?"

Last week he'd tried to get the book back and I broke his hand before he even got close to it.

"Fuck you."

"Yeah yeah yeah. Look once you say the phrase you can't just say it again and think I'll turn off. You got to know the other one genius but you monkeys only found the first code didn't you?"

"Bitch." He muttered and I laughed.

"Eh been called worse but thanks."

I walked to the desk and sat on top of it as I stared at the monkey's in their cages.

"I've got a little errand tonight. I'm going to get my friend since you fucked up and didn't know where she was. So I'm going to get her, while you little monkeys stay nice and quiet."

I stood up and started walking out of the basement as their screams followed behind me. I didn't know if I was coming back nor did I care. I held the book in my hands as I walked over to the stove. I turned the knob until it finally caught and flames flickered from the burner. I looked at the book in my hand and knew what I had to do. I had to destroy it, no one would control me ever.

"Never." I said as the book caught fire. I dropped it on the stove and switched the burner off. I watched the last proof of my trigger phrase disappear and I smiled.

I arrived earlier than the text told me too, mostly to do a little scouting. Being able to predict someone's decision was nice, but it only works if you're looking at the person, so getting a tactical layout of the area is an absolute must. 'Got to love Hydra training,' I thought as I cleared all the advantage points before finding a good open spot in the middle of the empty park. I got nice and cozy on a park bench and waited. I didn't know who I was meeting only the code name of Redbird. The name alone raised some red flags in the back of my brain but I brushed them off. I leaned back on the bench and watched the sun setting in the distance. I couldn't wait to get the hell out of here. I just needed Lilja and we could leave.

"Cora," I looked up, my brown hair flying behind me.

"Lilja," I whispered as I stood up and made my way to her, "You're here. Are you alright?"

"Cora I'm fine. I need you to come with me okay?"

I backed away from her and scanned her body. "You're not you."

"What? What do you mean I'm not me."

"I can fix it, I'm sorry I can fix it just give me a second I know the words."

"Cora no what words?"

I walked up to her and took her hand. "It only hurts for a second, but then you'll feel better and we can leave. We can get away, I messed up last time and they still found us. I'll do better this time." I said as I tried to remember her activation phrase.

"Cora wait no I don't want to be like that."

I looked at her and scoffed. "You'll feel better."

"No I won't. Cora please come with me and I can help you."

I backed away from her and scoffed. "I'm fine as long I get you out of here Lilja. It's not safe. Hydra wants to finish the program and I won't let them. I didn't let them last time and I refuse this time. Please before they send-" I stopped when he stepped out of the shadows and I knew we'd run out of time.

"Cora, send who?"

"It's too late. He's here." I looked behind her and she turned to see who it was.

"Bucky? You're talking about Bucky? Honey they didn't send him, he's here to save you."

"He's here to kill me Lilja. I messed up. I tried so hard to get us out. But he found me."

She grabbed my arm and I glared at her. "Let me fix you dammit and we can fight him together." I pleaded and she shook her head.

"No Cora no he's here to help not to kill you. We're not there anymore. You got me out remember. You saved me and we ran, remember."

I yanked my arm from her and threw my hands into my head. "STOP IT! NO!" I cried as I fell to my knees, "They told me they said if I didn't fight you, if we didn't they would kill both of us."

Lilja came beside me and kneeled down. "Honey you're safe just please let us help you."

I looked down and realized there was no saving her. She was lost to me. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes before turning my head to look at her. "You're lost to me. That's fine I don't need you," I turned and looked at the man standing ahead of us, "I can kill him just fine on my own."

"Cora you stop it right-" I reached my hand out and clamped it around her throat.

"You will not give me an order Lilja. I am not your puppet." She slapped my hand and suddenly I was shoved away from her, landing on my back hard. I looked up and glared at the blonde man who was standing between us.

"You don't touch her."

"Who the hell are you?"

Lilja coughed on the ground ahead of me. "Steve don't hurt her."

"Lily, she tried to kill you."

"She's confused we have to help her not hurt her."

"But the baby Lily."

I looked down and noticed the distinct bump under Lilja's clothing and scoffed.

I stood up and made my way towards the man I knew was there to kill me.

"I'll take care of you both, but right now I have a winter soldier to kill."

He stared at me as I made my way towards him.

"Hey doll," he said a smirk across his lips.

"I'm not your doll. If you're here to kill me for Hydra you're going to find I'm not an easy target this time."

"This time?" He asked and I laughed.

"You don't even remember. Whenever we failed they told us you were going to kill us, remember Soldier."

He shook his head, "No I never killed kids. Never."

"Well we weren't kids anymore."

He stared at me and shook his head.

"Cora I don't want to fight you."

"That's too bad because I want to kill you. I have to protect Lilja."

"Cora,"

"You will fight me, or you will die. But it's going to be rather difficult to fight me."

"Why is that?" He asked and I smiled.

"Because I know everything you're going to do before you even do it. Just like I know right now you're wondering if there's a way to save me. But I have news for you, I'm already saved."

He looked at the ground and shook his head.

"Cora I-"

"Love me? I don't even know who you are. So how can you love me?"

He took a step towards me and looked me in the eye. "You're Cora Bernard, and you're the woman I love. You were one of the vanished and I just got you back. I promised you that I would save you and I will."

Stared at him as his thoughts entered my mind and his choices became laid out before me. They all said the same thing. This man would not put up much of a fight. I watched as he got closer and then I made my move. I ran straight at him and kicked him square in the chest. He flew back a couple feet and rolled to his feet.

"Cora,"

"No more talking." I ran back at him and punched as he held his metal arm up. I knew the way he was going to block so I kicked his legs until he started to fall to the ground. He tried to grab me but I easily flipped backwards out of his arms and crouched into a fighting stance.

"Baby please,"

"You have to fight her Bucky!" I turned and saw Lilja standing with the other man staring at me.

"You're on his side Lilja?"

"No I'm on yours you know that." I scoffed and turned back to the soldier.

"You heard her, you're going to have to fight me. I can tell you're considering it. You don't want to, but you want to beat me." He shook his head and I laughed. "Did you forget I know every choice you're going to make before you do it?"

I ran at him as his mind decided to grab me by the throat. I quickly dodged his arm and yanked it behind his back as he screamed out.

"Damn it"

"You can't win, Soldier. I will beat you. You will not take me back to Hydra."

He took a deep breath and suddenly I was thrown from behind him and landed a few feet away from him.

I reached up and wiped the blood from my nose and smiled. "Nice you got me with that one, but that's the only one you get." I started advancing on him when I felt something slam into my back. I turned around ready to confront my attacker when I felt strong arms tightly around me.

"What the hell?"

"I've got you doll."

"Let go of me you asshole. Let me go don't take me back there please." I pleaded as Lilja ran to me.

"Cora,"

"Lilja I'm so sorry I'm so sorry. Don't hurt us please."

"Cora," I heard whispered in my ear as his breath fanned against my neck, "petite tu es a la maison."

My entire body locked up and the last thing I saw was Lilja's eyes full of tears.
