The young trainer reunited with his grass-type pokemon now free from the confines of his Pokeball now sitting next to him. The sweet demeanor of the grass type seemed to be unaffected by the storm as the rain seemed to pick up, as the streaks across the sky as the power seemed to flicker a second as Alabaster curled up in the wool blanket alongside his pokemon. The small bead-sized pellets pelted the large bay windows to the Route 1 forest as the wind seemed to pick up, he guessed along with the arriving trainers he was going to be hunkered down at the center for the night.
Sipping the small cup of broth, Alabaster seemed to be transfixed on the storm outside. Glancing down at the phone, now connected to the free service charger on the end of the table as he browsed the small wifi at the center. The sleeping arrangements weren't what he imagined as Alabaster imaged late nights under the stars and campfire on his Pokemon Journey through Kanto. Checking into the social media site, but found the emails and messages were still nothing from his Aunt or Uncle, as he sipped the small broth in a cup before docking his phone and turning back to his sleeping Pokemon dreaming.
Setting his phone on the table in front of him, Alabaster was interrupted by a younger server girl in a cafe uniform who delivered something in a brown packaging that he swore smelled like a cookie. As Alabaster began trying to decline the offer," Sorry I didn't order-" he was interrupted by the taller girl, which upon closer relationship seemed similar to Nurse Joy or possible relative and answered leaving it on the edge of the table.
"Relax. Cafe usually gives away the last cookies to trainers." The fellow teen began, as she adjusted the messy grown bun and red glasses exclaimed once more, "your welcome...My Aunt Joy is pretty cool, allows me to work in the cafe."
Alabaster smiled, as the confident neice of Nurse Joy returned to the cafeteria corner and began to close up the shop, as a Chansey with a green apron seemed to offer the girl a broom, before waddling in a bouncy motion off toward the back, leaving the girl to sweep the back kitchen. Taking the cookie off the edge of the wood table, Alabaster smiled as he enjoyed oatmeal raisin and nibbled off the top corner before giving the broth another sip from the mug, before watching the weather outside still going as the dark foliage of the trees under the street lamp taking a pounding.
Returning to the docked phone on the table, he saw the poster with the QR code on the corner. He pulled the phone and ran the digital code as a checkmark cleared on the screen and highlighted the card indicating he was registered for the Pokemon League. The young trainer was astounded with technology and was familiar with old school way before the technology of phones where index by Oak's device or off-brand had to keep their trainer cards on them or license on each trainer.
Pulling up the small picture of the icon on his electronic card of the honey brown-haired portrait indicator, along with other personal information. The few taps of the Kanto competition revealed the rules of the contestants and needing the official eight badges of each gym before competing in the official tournament league. As Alabaster nibbled more on the cookie, he began, "Looks pretty straight forward..." as the trainer scrolled up to the first gym and owner supposedly 'Brock from Pewter Gym' as the type indicator, it was ground and rock types, which Bulbasaur seemed to have an edge over him, but experience outweighed the types as much as type disadvantage.
Peering over at his grass type friend, Parsnip seemed unaware of his investigation as Alabaster knew he was going to have to train his pokemon partner if he was going to challenge the gym leader of Pewter City, but before he could even get to Pewter he was going to have to trek through Viridian City and Viridian Forest on Route 2. Scaling over the digital map and comparing the weather radar, Alabaster estimated he might have clear skies upon his venture toward the direction of Viridian.
Alabaster awoke to the drifting sun peaking over the tree line of the early morning sun, as the server talked to him before was sitting across from him, as she spoke.
"Beautiful aint it?" The girl seemed to speak, so fixated on the beauty of the scenery, as the sun highlighted the multicolored dye job of the multiple pink, blonde and brown hair, as she now wore a pair of red glasses as she seemed to smile at his silence, before exclaiming, "I'm Jenny by the way...take it this is your first Pokemon Journey?"
The teen nodded his head, as he realized Bulbasaur was still sleeping soundly, as Jenny began, "Your pokemon really was tuckered out from what my Aunt Joy even said it was little scared in the examination room." Alabaster hung his head a moment, as he peered down at the grass type that seemed to stir a moment before he peered up at Jenny to speak.
"Professor Oak said...its parents' were-" The statement seemed to linger a moment, before Jenny's upbeat attitude stirred an uncomfortable gaze, and responded his direction,"Poachers..." The word seemed to designate, as she shifted her grey eyes toward her Aunt busy helping some straggling trainers tend to the pokemon before she turned to meet Alabaster once more. "My Aunt Joy said rumors have it that, even though Team Rocket was halted that they've returned worse for wear as Prism Rocket or something..." The statement seemed to confuse the young trainer, hearing the group once more, as Jenny explained, "don't worry about them, Aunt Joy said there is nothing to worry about from those thugs." Confidence seemed to brim from the fellow older teen, as Alabaster comforted the sleeping Pokemon.
Alabaster having listened to the girl's statement, immediately exclaimed, "I won't let them stop me from taking on the gym leaders." The cafe worker seemed to nod her head as she tapped the small Pokeball hanging off her necklace, as she spoke, "I can tell you really care about Pokemon, so do I. My Machop, I call Lexi."
Unaware of this pokemon identity, Jenny seemed to smile as she motioned to the phone on the table at the end of the table. Alabaster acknowledged it was okay to proceed before she picked up the phone, as Jenny began, "May I?" While picking up the phone under the consent, she undid the charger off the end of phone, as the younger teen watched Jenny scrolled through his phone, until a smile illuminated on her face and the trainer and opened the Pokedex encyclopedia entry programmed on the smart device to the correct pokemon, before typing a series of codes, as Jenny began to open the highlighting the once dark Pokemon humanoid shape, before it revealed on the viewing screen, as the female voice read the data of the pokemon named Machop.
"Machop. The Fighting Type Pokemon. Very powerful in spite of its small size. Its mastery of many types of martial arts makes it very tough."
Nurse Joy's niece seemed to bream with more confidence hearing the automated voice, as Alabaster watched Jenny toy with the Pokeball around her neck on the magnet before she exclaimed, "I know...Lexi is my best friend. I've had her since I was a child, before my father-" she seemed to pause and look toward the window once more before she finished curtly, "...however, that doesn't matter. I need to get back to work, great meeting you Alabaster."
Confused how she knew his name, but when she tapped the corner of his Pokemon Trainer ID badge display, he gave a reluctant embarrassed sigh as Bulbasaur seemed to finally wake up from the commotion of the trainer's voices. The young teen began toward his Poke Partner, "Hey sleepyhead. Good morning." Before Alabaster gave Parsnips a soft pat on its grass green bulb, and his grass type poker partner gave a 'SAUR' in a happy chime. It was then Alabaster exclaimed toward his buddy, "ready to continue our adventure?" The grass type seemed to beam with delight before it lept off the booth seat and onto the floor as the Nurse Center was starting to be busy even for the early morning, as hungry trainers began to line up at the counter of the cafe.
The radiated scent of fresh treats and bread filled the air, as coffee seemed so intoxicating enrichment that urged him to buy a cup. Hesitant of the limited funds, he saw his bank account on the application seemed to have enough, so removing the Pokeball belonged to Bulbasaur he began, "ready to return? So I can get ready and the two of us can hit the road?" The grass type seemed to acknowledge the request and tap the cylinder middle button and immediately teleported to its home before Alabaster tucked the ball onto his belt and decided to use the public rest area to clean up, before grabbing a few supplies from the shop now open before heading to Viridian.
