Naruto slept longer than he thought, it was 5:00 in the evening, he was supposed to see Hinata!
The blonde boy got up and went to find a bathroom, he wasn't blessed with the gift of a bathroom. He ran into a maid, literally RAN into a maid, and asked her where one was. The maid was kind enough to show him.
Good, there was a bathroom close by, he really had to go. He did his business, washed his hands, and stormed out...
Wait.. where was his room again?
He went down countless hallways, attempting to find his room, but it seemed to have disappeared, he shouldn't have gone to the bathroom, he damned his weak blatter.
Finally, he found a maid and asked if they knew, and she took him to it, he was thankful there were so many maids around, he wondered how much they got paid, whatever...
He looked down the hall, where Hinata's room stayed, she had the last door, and he walked to it. Naruto knocked on the door and this time it was a males voice
"Come in, quietly," The voice said
It was almost so quiet he couldn't hear it, but he did, and he knew who it was
Neji.
Naruto opened the door and saw two figures laying down, while another one, Neji, was sitting up, seeming to be reading a book
When Naruto walked closer he saw the two bodies were Tenten and Hinata, and that they were sleep
"I know you are late Naruto" Neji stated quietly
"No, I just fell asleep" Naruto tried to defend himself, but, The blonde was a loud person, and Tenten shifted.
The lights were down low, almost off, and the room was peaceful, Tenten slept away quietly on Neji's lap, while Hinata laid in her bed, she slept quietly as well
"You shouldn't be so loud, Tenten gets violent, and Hinata will quietly judge you, should you wake them" Neji turned slightly, to face Naruto
"Whatever, why are they sleep?" Naruto questioned as he took a seat on the floor
"Hinata tried to stay up, and wait for you as her father said, but you never showed. Tenten told Hinata a whole bunch of stories and fell asleep, eventually, Hinata fell asleep as well, leaving me all alone to read."
Well... Now Naruto felt like a prick, how was he supposed to know Hinata knew he had to come? He thought that was just an afterthought of Hiashi, but it was planned. What if Hinata's feelings were hurt and she tells her father to fire him? Oh no, how could he oversleep? He can just see Sakura scolding him for this, Naruto outwardly shuddered, she would hit him so hard
That's it, his life was over
"You know, Hinata's feelings weren't hurt, I already told her you either wanted ramen or fell asleep" Naruto looked up quick, he said that out loud?
"I'm sure Sakura won't be the one hitting you though, that might be Tenten..." Neji had a slight smirk on his lips
Naruto looked at Tenten, she was up and looking back, she looked... So angry
"You idiot, I'll kill you" Tenten seethed
Luckily, Hinata also seemed to have awoken, and asked Tenten, not to kill him
So she didn't, because Hinata was just 'too adorable'
"H-Hinata, I'm so sorry, I fell asleep a-and-" Naruto started
"I-it's ok, I understand" Hinata was calm, and her voice seemed like she had been awake the entire time, even though she has just woken up
"I promise, tomorrow I will spend the whole day with you!" Naruto stood up and drew closer to Hinata
"I-I-" Hinata attempted to start, he really says everything he thinks, does he never feel embarrassed? The indigo-haired girl wished she could do that, but, she couldn't even talk without stuttering.
"She appreciates it," Neji tells Naruto "However, could you not be so blunt, she gets embarrassed easily" Neji defended his cousin, then went back to telling Tenten to go back to sleep
"If you're so tired, then go back to sleep" Neji sighs
"You don't understand, you can't sleep when you're mad" Tenten pokes his shoulder "If that idiot wasn't so loud, I'd still be asleep"
"I'm sorry, I honestly didn't know I was talking out loud!" Naruto said as he rubbed the back of his head
After some more bickering between Neji and Tenten, and apologies from Naruto... Tenten stated she was going home.
"I'm gonna go home, so I won't be awoken by unaware idiots," Tenten says as she stands up
"I'm sorry" Naruto started again
"Don't be sorry, Naruto, Tenten is petty when she wakes up, she just needs some coffee, it's not you" Neji says as he gets up too, "I have to go walk Tenten home, Hinata, I will call you tomorrow, sleep well." He says as he walks after Tenten.
Hinata agrees while Naruto mumbles "Maybe she doesn't want just 'coffee', you sly dog" Neji obviously heard him
"Your opinion is not appreciated, thank you" he states calmly, soon Neji was out of sight
The room went silent
" So Hinata, " Naruto started "What do you do in here anyway?"
"I um..." She stuttered out before turning red "I r-read" She finished
"Really, what do you read?" Naruto walked even closer to her bed before sitting on the floor and facing her
"I-I read... B-books" She shifted
"No, not that, what kind of books?" Naruto questioned further
"I-" Should she tell him, if he tells her dad she would get in trouble again... He doesn't look like the type of person to betray trust at all, but like the outburst that woke her up, what if it slipped from him? He seemed to want an answer really bad, she would just have to take his word
"I-If I tell y-you, you can't t-tell anyone, o-okay?" Hinata bargained
"Okay!" He agreed
"R-romance..." she said it so quietly he had to strain his ears to hear it
"Oh, that sounds cool, I don't really read at all, so don't worry, I won't judge you!" The blonde boy grinned
"A-alright.."
The room went back into silence
"I-it's getting late, s-shouldn't we head to sleep?" Hinata stuttered
"Are you tired?"
"Not really,"
"Then why should we go to sleep? If you're bored we can... Oh, I know... You can read me one of your stories!" Naruto's grin returned just as Hinata's blush
"W-well I'm n-not s-so sure ab-about th-" Hinata started
"You don't have to be embarrassed, don't we need to get to know each other better? I mean, I am your new caretaker. How will I know how to make you happy if I don't know what you like? I can't force you, but it would make me happy" Naruto's grin softened, turning more into a soft smile
Hinata blushed even more but nodded her head, she told Naruto to close his eyes as she went into her secret hiding place, so she can get a book, she picked her favorite and told Naruto to open his eyes
Hinata then told Naruto that he can sit on her bed, as she knew the floor could get uncomfortable, and he did.
Hinata read to Naruto, she was pleasantly surprised she didn't stutter. She was also surprised to find Naruto engaged.
About 12 chapters in, Naruto fell asleep, and 1 chapter later, so was Hinata.
