Chapter V: Wan Tested

"I can't believe Professor Palladium is taking us to the famous simulation room," Hoku says as she sits down. The day was bright and sunny, as the Changix team hung out in the open courtyard of the school. Students are walking to class or enjoying the free time. Wan was reading a small book on the grass, cross-legged.

Korra was practicing a little by moving a small bulb of water around playfully.

"I heard some great things about it," Logan says, laying on the soft green grass. "Fairies do amazing things there."

"And horrible things happen too." Amy counters. "I heard that a student lost her powers in that room," Amy shivers in fear at the thought.

"Relax, that's probably a rumor." Logan waves his hand, ignoring the crystal fairy. Kaiyo meanwhile was sketching in a small book. "Yeah, relax."

"Your right, your right." Amy puts her hand on her chest, "Maybe I'm overthinking."

"As usual," Logan replies. The group laughs at Logan's comment. "Say, Amy, I hear you were talking to that specialist boy at the Ball." Kaiyo changes the subject, Amy turns to Kaiyo, blushing a storm. "Checked up with him?"

"Ooo" Hoku adds to Kaiyo's comment, "Well, he is pretty cute." Amy looks to the side, "His name is Bisho, he's from Medley."

"Oh?" Wan looks up now, his attention was caught, "The musical planet?"

"Yep, he's a good singer too, and handsome." Amy giggles thinking about the boy, "Did you ask him out yet?"

"No." Amy slumps, "Too hard."

"Dude, if you like him go for it!" Korra encourages Amy. "Oh like you would know anything about confessing." Amy retorts, glancing at Wan and back at Korra. " What !" Korra shouts, clenching her hands blushing. "Oh, it's quite obvious." Amy flips her hair, "Or do I need to spell it out for you?"

"Damn, she got you Korra." Logan laughs, Kaiyo steps up, "Korra doesn't like Wan, you guys! Leave her alone." Kaiyo defends the water Avatar. Korra crosses her arms, "Thank you Kaiyo.".

Wan has his nose in his book, trying to hide his feelings the best that he could. It was almost insufferable. "Anyway, I'm going to do so great in that situation room, just you wait!" Korra confidently announces.

Sarah and Raelynn are standing in front of each other. With a wave of their hands, they summoned their vacuums.

Bottle-shaped crystals, Sarah's is black and thin at the opening but thick at the end. A little spiral from the top, wrapping around the bottom.

Raelynn's bottle is thin and red. The bottles formed a connection. "Now, show us Vacuum! Witches of the Black Sun and Moon!" The sisters call out as the crystals rise in mid-air. The duo focuses on Korra first, seeing her power level up at the top. Soon they focus on Wan, having the same high power.

"Well, Well, well." Raelynn smirks, "As I expected."

"We should put both of them to the test." Sarah points out.

"Good idea,"

The Vacuums disappeared, and the sisters smirked.

The Changix club along with the other students walks into the simulation room, the room is large and full space. "Woah!" Korra gasps

"Now, I have set up a simulation that will be your midterm." Professor Palladium says as the group of students entered the control room.

"This room combines both magic and technology. You all will choose between two tests. The first is to reverse a wicked spell that a group of witches cast the second test would be to heal a damaged environment."

"I'm doing the spell reversal," Amy says determinedly. Hoku clasped her hands, closing her eyes, "Damaged environment for me."

"Now all of you will have to be well prepared, study well."

Late at night, Wan reads through several books trying to study. Korra walks in, with some warm tea from the small dorm kitchen "Hey," She sets down the teacup next to Wan. He smiles warmly, "Hey, I guess you're done studying?"

"Yeah, I feel pretty confident." Korra sits on Wan's desk, "And you?"

"Well, you see the books and notes out. I'm doing a damaged environment for my exam." Wan sips the tea and keeps reading. Korra yarns, stretching her arms, "Ima go to bed, we have a big day tomorrow." Korra gets up and closes the door to Wan's room.

He smiles as he takes a sip and closes the book. Feeling okay with himself about the spells.

Morning came once more in Alfea, the group of students was in the simulation control room. The headmistress watched on a magic mirror in her office, excited for what these young fairies could accomplish.

"Please don't be first, please don't be first." Kaiyo crossed her fingers, whispering. "Oh stars, I can't be first." Hoku adjusts her glasses. Palladium turns to his students, "Now then, who would want to go first?"

The group of people was silent, "Yo I ain't going first." One guy whispers. "Well then, I guess I have to pick. Wan, what did you choose?"

"Well, I studied for a damaged environment, so I guess that's the test I'm doing." Wan answers, Logan arm buds him, "Not a bad choice."

"Alright, which environment would you like?" The professor begins to work on the computer. Wan hums, "I was thinking of a damaged forest."

"Ah, now, the simulation would last thirty minutes. Once you enter the chamber, the environment will appear all around you. Are you ready Wan?"

"Yes, more than ready." Wan responds, "Good, now do your best." Palladium opens the door for Wan to step inside. "You got this!" Korra yells out.

"You can do it, Big bro!" Kaiyo adds on.

"Do your best." Hoku smiles with her eyes closed.

"You studied, you got this!" Amy puts two thumbs up.

"Don't fail," Logan smirks, Amy puts her hands on her hips at Logan's response.

Wan puts up a peace sign and he closes the metal door behind him. Wan steps up to the metal ramp, soon one by one, the lights begin to glow. Wan closed his eyes and when he opened them he was surrounded by a burned forest. The fire went out, and the only thing left was burned wood and ash.

Wan breaths in, his hand touches the burned branches. Trying to figure out a good way to heal this forest. He digs into his pocket and brings out seeds. He digs the ground with his earth bending and places the small seeds into the hole. Wan kneels and digs it up.

He softly places his hands on the ground, focusing with orange magic surrounding his hands. Soon a small green spout began to emerge. Wan smiles as focus, however, Raelynn and Sarah teleport in.

"Well, Isn't it Wan?"

Wan stops his spell and turns to the witches, "You again, and your friend! What are you doing here!"

"Don't you know not to ask questions?" Raelynn raised her hand as darkness reached the area. Wan jumps out of the way, "Magic Winx!" Wan transformed that instant into his fairy form. He attacks the witches with a fire beam. Sarah uses a black defense shield.

In reality, it was just an illusion spell created by the two witches. Who was using the vacuum's power to cause the illusion.

"Getting anything yet?" Raelynn asks, the witch of the black moon shook her head. "Well, let's get this little Avatar fired up."

Meanwhile, Korra and the Changix Club's eyes widen as they see Wan facing the red-eyed witch, even more so her friend.

"By the way, I'm Raelynn."

The blond summons another strike that Wan avoids and counters with airbending to throw them off.

"Are you guys serious!" Wan screams now infuriated, he summons a plasma ball and shoots it at the two witches.

"Very much." Sarah smirks, "Oh, and by the way, Sarah." She attacks again, this time knocking Wan back.

"Professor, do something!" Hoku yells, "I'm trying Miss. Hoku, but it seems like the computer is malfunctioning." The professor begins to panic as he tries to figure out what was going on. Wan flies and attacks the witches. He showed off nearly all of his power. Confirming to the witch duo that he is the Avatar.

"I think that's enough, sister. We got what we needed." Raelynn smirks as the two vanish. Wan blinks and glances around.

"Where did they go?" Wan then sighs and flies down to complete the test. He was worried though like he had given them something he shouldn't have.

It didn't matter right now.

Wan went back to his seeds and focused on the energy. The tree grew enormously. Green pastures and soft sweet flowers blooms. Meanwhile in the control room, the students gasped in awe. "There we are, the computer is working again."

"Amazing," Kaiyo says in awe of her brother's abilities. She was proud of him for passing.

The test was completed, Wan went back into his normal form hands in his pockets. He exited the simulation with a smile.

Faragonda was impressed by the young man's ability. Even more so as an Avatar, she just knew he would be a powerful one.

The other tests went well, Kaiyo decided to undo evil hexes by Witches. She focused on what was the core and used her light magic to reverse it. The frogs turn back into humans. Kaiyo pants but proud of herself.

She exited the simulator, "Well done Miss. Kaiyo."

Hoku throws a thumbs up and Kaiyo replies.

Korra's test was similar to Wan, and she performed pretty well. She used a mixture of earth and water.

Afterward, the Midterms were over. Hoku jumped up and landed on her feet. "I can't believe we passed that!" Hoku armbuds Logan who crosses his arms. "You two were pretty cool out there."

Wan and Korra glanced at each other "Ugh thanks?" They say in unison. "Do you guys want to go to Magix to celebrate the first great midterm?"

"Yeah, sure." Wan sighs, still thinking about the witches. They almost seemed to have gotten what they wanted out of him and were just waiting to strike.
