Hey, there my readers! It's Friday with yet another chapter of Dead Silence: Do You Believe in Angels. This one is where we start to see Jasmine's angelic potential and the little secret that Melody and Cody also have. But I'm not one to like spoiling things for people so that's all you're gonna get! And the last thing, if any of you have a song that you think should be in here, please feel free to PM me and I will take it into consideration. Now, on with the show!

Chapter 4 - But Wait! There's More!

After Jake agreed to officially be part of the band, they never left him alone. He didn't mind it though, because it made him feel wanted and cared for. Even though all of his instincts told him not to get attached to the ragtag gang of strange people, he couldn't help his longing for a family latching onto them. The following couple of weeks were packed with practice, Mic Drop performances and exercises to help Jake get over his stage fright. Whenever Jake and Jasmine got some alone time, they would write new songs and duets, most of which were his feelings for her. His feelings for Jasmine Trevino was something he would never find in his life, he didn't believe he deserves that happiness. Yet, Jasmine gave him it in bulk, as if she had so much to give. She had this angelic energy around her that made him feel like his old self, but less arrogant. He had gotten better at talking to people and found being around the band made him more comfortable. He had friends again and that was one thing that made Elliot stay far away.

On Monday, the band was at the diner where Jake and Jasmine were practicing their song for Friday, the first round of the talent show. The stakes were higher than before when they got word that the winners of the talent show would represent their school for the district Battle of the Bands, then the winner of the district would be in the state competition in the district's place. And last but not least, the finalists for the state, go to the national championship. They didn't plan on going all the way there, but the thought was enough motivation to make them practice harder. Playing the last cords to their song, Jake felt Jasmine staring at him.

"What?" he said with a small grin.

"Nothing!" she replied, a little too fast to be convincing.

"Yeah right," Cody chuckled from the other side of the room. Melody promptly slapped him in the back of the head.

"Shut up, Rover! Can't you see she doesn't want to admit the fact that she was lost in Jake's devine voice and magical musical talent," giggled Melody. "Not to mention the fact that she was staring at his gorgeous eyes."

Jasmine was bright red and had a murderous glare directed at Melody and Cody, but she wore a friendly smile and still had her confident posture. Jake was blushing too, but he got an uneasy feeling from the way she was looking at the two trouble makers.

"Oh my, how could I forget about the little - no - big thing between you two. I mean, Cody, buddy, when are you going to be Alpha enough to ask Melody dear out. You've only had a crush on her for like, ever." Jasmine raised an eyebrow at the now burning red non-couple. Jake couldn't help but laugh. They all looked at him because this was the first time they have heard him really laugh. Cody stopped at their gazes, embarrassed at his outburst. And yet, Jasmine gave him a nice, loving smile.

"You have a wonderful laugh." These simple words, yet again made him feel so deserving of her company.

"Really?" he asked with uncertainty.

"Yes, definitely. You need to laugh more," she said shyly.

They stared at each other for a moment until someone, yet again, interrupted them.

"Is this a bad time?" said Miss Kester, one of the two music and drama teachers. She was a young, bright, and energetic woman with auburn hair and unusual silver eyes. Jasmine said that Miss Kester was once a third-grade teacher and then got a job here doing what she really loved, performing and teaching. Both Jake and Jasmine smiled as though nothing was going on.

"No, it's ok," said Jasmine. She got up and walked over the door.

"How can we help Miss Kester?"

"Oh nothing for the moment, Jasmine, but thank you. I just wanted to see where that amazing music was coming from."

The group of friends blushed at the complaint. Melody was the first to recover.

"Why thank you Miss Kester. We have been practicing for a few weeks now and I think we have a good chance of going to the nationals!" Everyone except Melody and Miss Kester looked at her with disbelief.

"What are you talking about, Mel?" Jake said. He never thought that they had a chance at nationals, he barely thought about getting past the district.

"Oh come on. You really don't think that we aren't good enough to go all the way?" she said, giving him a challenging look. His eyes went wide.

"I-I didn't- I didn't say that! I just- just was saying-"

"Melody! Stop that! You're making him glitch out!" yelled Cody.

"Stop!"

Everyone turned to look at Jasmine.

"Ok, thank you. Now, sorry you had to see that, usually they can handle themselves in front of an audience," she affirmed, sending each one of her bandmates a pointed glare.

Oh no worries, Jasmine. I understand completely. In fact, you guys remind me of my twin brother," Miss Kester remarked.

As she turned around and headed for the door, she halted. "Actually, now that I think about it, there is something you guys could help me out with."

Jasmine perked up at the mention of "help".

"Yes?" she inquired.

"Well, you mentioned how you guys are good with an audience, but what one student?"

"We love playing in front of people!" piped up Cody.

"Oh no. Not playing. There is a new student coming here today and I need someone to show her around. Now, if you guys aren't too busy, I was wondering if you could give her the tour and I will let you do it as a group if you agree."

The group looked at each other for conformation, then turned to Jasmine. She had a huge smile on her face that Jake couldn't help but mimic.

"We'd love to."

FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD LIIIIINNNNNEEEEE BREAK!

_POV_CHANGE_Jasmine - First Person (A/N I know! Living dangerously now!)

As we walked down the hall, I couldn't get the nagging feeling in my stomach to go away. Should I tell him? I don't know. He might freak out and fade. Yes, I know about his fading. And yes, I know you are reading this. It's one of my divine powers, seeing through the veil of reality to the truth. But that's not important right now. What is important is if and how I tell Jake about it all. And I mean all. Me, the shadow world, Melody and Cody. *cough* my feelings for Jake *cough* The list is endless. Not to mention himself. On my gods, my head hurts. I need a drink. Anybody got any tea? No? Oh well. Anyways as I was sayin-

"Hey Jaz! Where do you think you're going?" yelled Melody.

My head snaps up and I notice that we already were at the office. I almost walked past it! Geez, thanks for distracting me, guys. Jk, I love you all.

"Oh sorry, was kinda lost in my head there." Not even kidding.

"Yeah, don't do that. We already have one Jake, we don't need another," jokes Cody, making us all chuckle. We then went inside the office. Sitting there is Mr. H, the secretary/messenger for the school.

"What can I do for you kids?" he asks with a smile. Mr. H. is a kind man. He is super funny, really nice, and always has the coolest things to show us… ok me because I work in the office on Wednesday, but that is besides the point.

"We are here to show the new student around," I say with a smile in return. "Miss Kester asked us to help."

"Ah, yes of course. She is not here yet but I bet it will be any second. But I won't be able to wait with you, unfortunately. There is a delivery that I need to sign for outside." He responds and walks out.

And literally seconds later, a girl with crazy red hair and vibrant green eyes appeared in the door, looking quite out of breath.

"Sorry…*heave* I'm late…*heave* Got lost…*heave*," she wheezed.

"Oh don't worry. We just got here too." I assured her. "We'll give a minute to catch your breath."

"Thanks"

"Happy to help." I smile, but then I look over at Cody and see him shaking, with his eyes turning red. My eyes widen. What does he think he's doing?! He already has his mate! Melody! I look at Sarah who has gone into full defence mode, bearing her gleaming white fangs. Vampire! I look back at Cody, his wolf, Jasper, trying to break free and attack the enemy. And then my eyes land on Jake, who is completely confused. Oh shiznit.

hisup

I tried to jump into the way of the two seething downworlders, but the next thing happened confused me so much, you might not understand it either.

Jake stands in the middle, and he doesn't look like the quiet boy from earlier. He was…. I don't know how to explain it.

"Ok ok ok! Calm down now!" Jake demanded, but his voice sounded off. He faced Cody. "Jasper! Down. Now." At this, Jake's eyes were multan gold and he had this aura of power flowing off him in floods.

And the thing that surprised me even more (I know. How can it be? But wait, there's more!) was the fact that Cody/Jasper showed his neck in submission… Wow.

Jake turned his head towards the girl. She looked terribly frightened.

"State your business, life eater." It wasn't a request. It was a command.

"My-my name is- is Sarah Amana," she stuttered. "I'm here to seek refuge from The Blight." Me and Melody gasp.

For those of you who don't know what "The Blight" is, let me give you a crash course:

The Blight is a group or gang of human hunters that have found a way to see the downworld and hunt, experiment, turtures, or sell all of the downworlders that they find. They are disgusting and revolting but also extremely well hidden. No one outside of Los Angeles knows about them because this is their home base. To everyone else, they are just another worthless street gang. But we know better.

Jake seemed to be studying her, then…. Um…. then he sniffed her…. I know jealousy is an ugly color, but I felt a painful sting in my chest. But it went away as soon as he backed up and turned to me.

"She is saying the truth, my Luna," his odd voice said. Cody, who must have regained control by now, snapped his head up.

"Luna?"

Everyone's eyes were on me now, including Sarah's.

"I'm not a Luna, I'm not even a wolf!" I say back, still confused at what is happening to Jake.

And just like that, Jake growled possessively and tugged me by my waist until I was flush to his chest. The next word that comes from his mouth confirms what I thought was happening and what Jake really was.

"Mate."

=========GOTTA LOVE THE PLOT TWISTS UH?==============================

_POV_CHANGE_Jake - third person

When Jake came out of his blackout, he was not mentaly or emotionally prepared.

He had Jasmine pinned against him in a very possessive hold…. and sucking her neck. He jumped so high and far, he was surprised he was still in the office.

"What in the hell just happened?!" he all but screamed. He looked around the room to the faces of his friends with very shocked expressions and the new girl looking at him in fear. What did I do?!

You let me have the wheel! Elliot sounded different, more alive and less of an asshole.

Yeah dumbass, that's because our mate brought me back when we went to protect her. My true self has been dead since the accident, until now. Elliot sounded way too happy, it was freaking Jake out.

"Ok just everyone stop!" he yelled. Jasmine took his hand and it made him flinch when he felt small sparks pour out from her touch.

"Jake. No one is doing anything," she soothed.

"ButElliotwon'tstoptalkingaboutgrossthingstodowithyouandnottomentionthatIwaspracticalyeatingyourneckjustnowandIdon'tknowwhat'sgoingon-"

"Jake!" Jasmine said again. He looked down at her.

"Everything is fine. Me and the others will explain everything, just not right now. Mr. H will be back soon and if he finds us still here it won't be good."

Jake looked at the clock on the wall. What? It was thirty minutes until the end of the day. When did that happen?

Melody volunteered to show Sarah around and said to meet her at Mic Drop ASAP. Once those two were gone, the rest of them went to their lockers and got ready for the bell to ring. And soon, Jake was going to get some answers.

+++++++SMALL BOB SAYS HELLO+++++++++++++LOVING THE READS+++++++++++

As soon as school was out, Jake and the others made a beeline to the diner. Once Melody got there, the others saw she had Sarah in tow.

"She is doing the talent show too! And she said she would help with 'The Revealing'," she explained and ended with jazz hands. But Jake ignored her and instead, looked right at Jasmine.

"Now tell me everything."

"Ok." She looked him straight in the eye, blue-green against steel gray.

"What do you know about the battle between light and dark?" Jasmine starts.

"Um, there was a war between the heavens and hell," he answered.

"Very over simplified, but yes. The angels made their best warriors both human and part angel. They call them Shadowhunters. And the demons thought that they could have some powerful warriors too, so they made werewolves and vampires, also known as the downworlders. You, Jake, are a werewolf, like Cody. Melody is a shadowhunter and Sarah is a vampire. And I'm," she hesitated. "I'm an angel." (A/N So sorry for the really horrible explanation. It's been awhile since I've seen the show.)

"But-" He stopped himself. Should he tell them? It's not like things can get anymore weird. "Well, I, um, I fade whenever I'm scared or stressed out… does that happen to any of you?" He looks around the table, and they all lower their heads, except Jasmine. She held herself high. She doesn't regret what she did.

"No, that's just you," she began, but his shoulders slumped down. "But that's only because I saved you." Jake furrowed his brow in confusion.

"What are you talking about?"

"The night of the accident. I was there." Jake's eyes went wide.

"The voice," he whispered, barely audible. Jasmine nodded.

"But…. how?"

"Let me tell you what happened," she replied. Jasmine took in a deep breath, and began.

"That night, I was coming back from a dance practice. My dad was working before and said that he would pick me up after it. He was a truck driver for a big company and I loved riding in the big rig." Her eyes held in the memory and her smile was small. "I was writing a song in the car because the perfect tune came to mind that night, the rain, the mood, just everything. My dad asked me to sing it for him. He always loved it when I sang for him, so I did. But this time, it felt different. Like something was enchanting my voice and I felt someone else's emotions. They felt annoyed, frustrated, irritated, but also nervous and excited.

"Then, out of nowhere, this car runs a red light. My dad couldn't stop in time." She stopped and looked at Jake, whose face was paper white. "I dragged myself out of the car and saw my dad. He was gone, the light that I always sensed around him was gone." Jasmine reached for his hand making these magical sparks light up under his skin. "I saw something move from the other car. So I ran to it and saw this boy, his light was flickering. He was dying. I sensed he was a werewolf, and his wolf was fighting to keep him alive even though he was not fully developed yet, and I couldn't stand to watch another person die that night, so I bound his soul to mine. But in the process, it locked his soul while it was leaving his body, so he was stuck between life and death and made his wolf go dormant since then."

The whole table was silent. No one made a sound, not even dared to breathe too loudly. Then Jake broke the dead silence.

"It was you." Everything was starting to make sense and less sense at the same time. He heard Jasmine that night, but she has an enchanted voice. She was the girl in his nightmares to save him, but their souls are tethered together. And there is a werewolf and vampire sitting at the table and his crush is an actual angel. This is normal, right? Just for you buddy, chimed Elliot. And now Elliot is being less of a jackass.

"And that's not all," started Cody. What now? thought Jake. "You turned out to be an Alpha werewolf too!" He looked really excited about all of this.

"A what?" Cody gave him an "are you kidding me" look.

"You don't know what being an alpha means?" Jake shook his head.

"Oh my goddess, where have you been living? An alpha werewolf is the strongest out of all the ranks. They are the leaders. Your mom or dad must have been an alpha or have some alpha blood."

Great. Now more questions. Jake felt the beginnings of a headache coming on. You might be thinking, "why is he taking this so well?" Well, if he didn't turn invisible everytime his depression got bad, he might think these people were crazy. But he does.

"Ok, enough of the heavy stuff. Let's get some food and then go back to practicing for tomorrow," Melody piped up. They all nodded. Tomorrow will be something else entirely.

Soooooo….. Yeah, this chapter was…. weird but enlightening. Now you can understand what is up with everything and who is what and what is who. I'm sorry for the super long wait. Distance learning is not that good to my grades and AP and honors classes are eating at my time and non-existing soul. But, I have made it back to all of you! The next chapter will be up when I have time and an idea of how this will go. Well, until next time! Stay Lucky!
