Every week you visit Dr. Trent twice to deliver his herbs, as he became one of your loyal customers you decide to throw in some freebies such as cow's milk or fresh veggies. Nonetheless you are gradually able to save more money for your calculated expense when you go back to the city. On the other hand, the Doctor is growing more fond of you. He looks forward to seeing you every week, delivering the goods in a very jolly manner. You would first stop to have a small chit chat with Elly then to him. In fact you have learned a lot about both of them already. He also found it nice how you would play with Elly's little brother Stu or visit Ellen, Elly's grandma. You are a ray of sunshine he seldom sees from his white enclosed office.
Whenever you deliver your goods to the Doctor, you would see Rick walking with Karen to the store. Sometimes you would avoid their path or run past them, trying to avoid as much as possible because seeing them pains you. Especially that you and Rick were the ones who used to take those walks together going to the supermarket every morning. Oh how you felt as if you were the mistress. You feel ashamed as Karen stares down at you as you pass by.
On the other hand, Rick sees you everyday and wishes he could be with you instead. He is also curious on why you are more frequent to the clinic than before, seeing you holding a lot of crops or baskets filled with herbs and such. You never throw him any glance anymore, in fact when you accidentally glances at him you would shy away immediately and avert your gaze. Sometimes the supermarket takes time to open so he would sit outside the nearby tree with Karen, and he would see you go out of the clinic, happy, sometimes laughing while waving goodbye. It pains him to be trapped in this relationship he does not want. During this time, he finally realizes that his feeling for you does not falter. He tried loving Karen genuinely, but there is little to none that he can give, the only thing he can offer her is friendship. Truly his heart belongs to yours now, and he has nothing else on his mind everyday but you.
The stories you both shared, your laughter, your memories together in the farm, running and chasing around. All those things haunt him everyday and he can no longer take it. He's gonna place his foot down this time, he told himself that he would try to talk to you this upcoming pet festival. One day to your surprise, Dr. Trent has called you to go to his clinic. You were worried that he might not need your products anymore so you decided to bring the best Strawberry milk you have to bribe him. As you went to the clinic, he asked you to try a medicine he made out of the herbs you deliver "I was developing a new medicine that might help the local residents here! I thought of you first when I was looking for someone to try it" Dr. Trent said excitedly as he took out this medicine bottle. You gulped as it does not look appetizing. "So am I your guinea pig now?" you teased. "No of course not" he chuckled "I just thought that maybe it could help with your energy level since you tend to get fatigue so easily" he handed you the medicine. "Are you sure about this? What if I die?" you look at the gooey substance in a bottle "Don't be silly, I'm a professional". With that, you drank the medicine, eyes tightly shut and gulped it in one go. You gagged and prevented yourself from throwing up. "What was THAT?!" you shrieked "It tastes horrible!" , "I combined all the herbs you've gathered this past few weeks and turned them into this humble energy medicine. Perhaps I could make it taste a little bit better…" he took the bottle. "Definitely!" you pouted. "Um anyways, here's something that could help, I was worried you might not need my products anymore so I bought this." you gave him the strawberry milk you made and he laughed but took it. "Silly girl, of course I would always need your help! Just seeing you walk down the clinic already makes my day" he said ruffling your hair. You blushed at that remark and said your goodbyes to Elly and Doc, skipping happily to your farm.
The next day, Zack invited you to come over to the beach after lunch to watch the pet festival, so you hurried fixing your animals and crops. You decided that since you're going there to relax, it's time to bring out your inner fashion designer and you dressed into one of your summer dresses after taking a cool shower. You wore a cute sun hat with a sunflower on it, and a light green spaghetti strap dress that flows with the wind. You came there early to feel the breeze of the summer on the beach. You will definitely miss this when you go back to the city, you thought to yourself. Without you knowing a pair of green eyes is watching you from afar, mustering his courage to talk to you. "Come on bro! You can do this!" Popuri massaged her brother's shoulders as if he's going to a fight. "But what if she just shoves me away?" , "Tch. Don't be a chicken! Just explain everything and say you're sorry!" Popuri pushed him towards your direction. Rick gulped as he walked towards you from a distance, when suddenly Dr. Trent approached you first. He stopped midway and watched from afar on how Dr. Trent casually puts his arm on your shoulder, and you get surprised, looking up at him. Just seeing another man casually approach you like that, he gets a feeling that you two have grown to be close, which makes him jealous. Oh it can't be. 'Is it why she is always in the clinic? And why is she happy every time she steps out of the clinic?' he thought to himself. 'No, not right now Rick', he told himself as he shook those thoughts and continued his approach, but suddenly Zack started the event. Popuri from a distance sighed in disappointment, seeing her brother fail midway.
The event started, you and Dr. Trent sat under an umbrella shade. "Wow it's my first time to see you wear something so casual" , "It's hot on the beach, you can't expect me to wear formal in this weather" he replied, "How bout you? It's my first time seeing you dress like this other than your usual farm outfits' ' he returned your comment while offering you juice in one hand. You chuckled at his witty remark "I told you before that I'm a fashion designer back home, and I kinda miss dressing up since I'm always farming. It isn't bad to take a break isn't it?" he nodded in agreement, as you both sipped on your juice. Rick waited for the right timing while constantly glancing at you two. Maybe he could approach you after the event, he thought. As he tried to focus on the event, he can't help but watch you two instead. Popuri sat beside him and gave him something to drink to ease his thoughts.
"Look at that dog! He's soo cute!" you pointed at the one in the event, "No look at that one! That one's smart", doc pointed at the other puppy "yeah! Who do you think is gonna win?", both of you went on like that for the duration of the competition, while Popuri watches her brother be distracted by looking at the dogs while looking at you. The festival is now over as Zack awards the winners, you sighed and Dr. Trent looked at you, admiring your beauty. "I wish I had a pet too", you pouted while holding your cheeks when suddenly Dr. Trent pulled down your sun hat to cover your face "Hey!" You shouted. He laughed as he stood up. "Come now, let's go home, the event is over" he offered his hand to you and you gladly took it. "But I'm hungry", you pouted while getting dragged by Dr. Trent. "Wanna eat at Kai's snack bar?" he turned back to you and you nodded happily. 'What is this?', Dr. Trent thought as his heart raced when you smiled back brightly at him. Oh how your beauty has captured his heart the first time he saw you up close, when you were brought to the clinic unconscious. He can't believe that you were this close now, going out on small summer nights. He definitely will repeat it again, he feels as if he wants to spend most of his time now with you. Afterall, you are his sunflower.
Rick was dumbfounded, he was supposed to approach you but it feels as if the Doctor just took you away just the moment when he was so near. He sighed, knowing that now he has a competition to your heart. It seems as if the Doctor has found his way in. You might not see it, but Rick saw how Dr. Trent looks at you during the event and when you were wanting to have a pet. Rick knows that he's not the only one longing for you now, for your beauty has captured yet another heart. He wanted to drag Dr. Trent away from you but at the same time he can't blame you for looking for another man especially with what happened to him and Karen. But one thing's for sure, he's not the type of man who easily gives up.
