Standing in front of her, waiting for the questions to be asked. Green eyes beneath the veil look at him, seeing red youki outlining his body, smiling.

'Hmm… such malice intention'

"To what do I owe this pleasure of having a hanyou in my presence?" Or perhaps you have a hidden agenda that requires my powers for it, hm?"

"Keh, do you have the power to travel through time?"

"Oh, and what do you need that for?"

"I need to send someone back to her time, she does not belong here."

"I see but, is that all it is?"

"What is it to you woman? I just need it, if you're not that powerful just say so, instead of wasting my time"

'Arrogant hanyou'

Yellow eyes look at her, sighing, when the woman doesn't even move, pivoting on his feet as he turns towards the exit when a voice stops him.

"Hanyou, I do have a power but this wish of yours have need of exchange"

'Wish, eh'

"What is it?"

Untangling themselves from embrace, Tomoe catches her right hand on his as they held hands on their way home, it was past afternoon when they arrived in her hut. Violet slitted eyes look at her face flushed, remembering their kiss.

"Mama!"

Running at her in full speed, she stops and spreads her arms to catch her son, laughing at his antics as Shippo burrows his head on her neck, basking on her scent, missing her. Smelling some of the dried blood and poultice, he whimpers while a callous hand comb his hair, knowing what causes him to whimper.

"Shh, it's okay honey, Mama is okay, she will heal"

"Hm"

Blue eyes glance at him, while hugging her son, he nods at her and together they make it to her hut.

The sound of the rooster signaled the rise of the sun, Kagome rubbing her eyes to adjust from the light leaking from her window, before stretching her arms upward. Looking at the small figure on her side, she saw Shippo on his chest while in fetal position, reaching for her blanket and covering it around him before standing up slowly.

Washing her face in the sink, a small mirror shows her reflection before flushing red remembering yesterday's event, changing her apparel as she dons her blue floral kimono, she stepped out of the hut and saw her suitor cutting woods outside. Opening her mouth to call him, when she senses a familiar youki.

'Inuyasha'

Tomoe, sensing his youki as well, forgoes his axe and summons his foxfire in case the half-demon decides to randomly attack him. Stumbling in front of them, red kosode and hakama was evident upon his arrival.

Yellow eyes watch them from afar, noticing Kagome striding in his direction before stopping a meter from him, while the full fox youkai decided to place himself in front of her, growling at the sight.

'Tsk'

"Inuyasha, what are you doing here? If you're here to drag me back, I will forget that you once became my friend. I will not back down"

"Keh, calm down wench, I just wanna talk"

"Is that so?"

"Believe what you want, but I'm here to talk to my best friend nothing more"

Blue eyes met his, uncertainty showing in them, before clearing it away looking at Tomoe - his eyes wanted to protest but he nodded to respect her decision.

"Okay, but I will be coming with Tomoe"

"Keh, okay but I need him away from us, so, that he won't hear what I'm about to say"

"Hn"

Sighing at him, yet her eyes soften knowing that Inuyasha won't say anything unless out of earshot from other people.

'I guess, he's still shy after all this year, eh'

Carrying her on his back, his hands clutching on the back of her knee while her hands were holding his shoulder to prevent from falling, leaping towards their destination.

Hours have passed, blue eyes watch her surroundings, before catching a familiar tree - the Sacred Tree of Ages, unshed tears look at the reminder of her future. Yellow eyes, glance at her before, narrowing them as he lands in front of the Bone-Eater well. Dislodging herself, her eyes soften at the passage well, her arms reaching on the edges, smoothing her hands on the rough surface.

"Inuyasha, why did you bring me here?"

"I… I just want to bring you here like last time, I thought you would miss this place."

"I see…then, what do you want to talk about?"

Sensing the fox's youki nearing them, walking forward to Kagome with unreadable expression on his eyes as he extend both arms to hug her, while blue eyes look at him in confusion as she back away until the back of knee bump on the edge of the well, stabilizing herself as she glance back before getting caught in his arms, hugging her whilst her eyes widened.

"Kagome, I'm sorry… I'm really sorry… I hope you will forgive me"

'Eh?'

"I've loved you Kagome, I hope you will become happy"

Blue eyes widened, everything was happening in slow motion as she caught Tomoe entering the field with arms stretched out on her, while Inuyasha standing on the edge of the well with tears falling down on his cheeks, making his eyes brighter. Her body slowly falling backward, tears gathered on her eyes, letting them fall whilst her mouth opened to scream as her arms were extended, reaching for both of them.

"TOM-

Her scream halted as her body was engulfed with familiar blue light, before it dimmed as the magic faded. Kneeling on the ground, clawed hand clutched on the well whilst his eyes continue to shed tears before getting tackled by the fox youkai.

"WHAT DID YOU DO!? WHERE IS SHE?!"

Violet slitted eyes bled red as the anger built in him, his hands clutching the hanyou's neck hearing him choke as he was left breathless. Growling at him, Inuyasha stayed quiet as his hair turned black and his eyes turned violet - his half heritage began to fade at the sunset.

Image of her flashes in his memories, before loosening his hold on his neck. Inuyasha gulped air greedily as his face turned blue from the lack of it, a human hand clutching his neck to ease the pain before glancing at him, his violet eyes continuously shed tears.

"Y-you don't need to worry, you'll be able to see her again… It's just five hundred years from now."

"HOW DARE YOU! She was your friend! Your not fucking worth it, I hope she won't forgive you"

Growling at him, before turning on his back and leaping away. Leaving him behind, as he continued to sob.

"Kagome… I'm sorry, please forgive me…"

'Yes, you still be able to see her, unlike me….'

Flashback

"What is it?"

"Hahahahahahaha…..I just need you to share your 30 years of life span"

His eyes narrowed at her, having a dilemma before nodding.

'...Yes, I don't have much time left to see you, my true friend'

Meanwhile, Kagome landed on the floor, looking at the ceiling, her eyes widened at the familiar ceiling, staying seated for a while, her eyes shed tears, sobbing at the betrayal she felt.

'Why?…. Why did you do it, Inuyasha?!'

Hearing footsteps near the shed, she waited for someone to come inside as the door slid open. Light flashes on her place, before she hears someone call her name.

"Kagome!"

Looking up, teary blue eyes met brown eyes - her mother leaning on the well.

"Mama!"

2 years have passed since she came back to her present, in those months she cried in the arms of her family - these tears were mixed of joy for reuniting with her family; sadness because of those people she left behind, her son, her soon-to-be mate, and her friends; and pain for being betrayed by her best friend.

It was her last year in highschool, since she came back she decided to resume her studies by transferring to another school and moving out of the shrine to get away from the passage of time which only reminds her of painful memories.

Now, blue eyes glance at her blockmate, this young woman called Nanami has long brown hair and brown eyes, who stayed with her other two friends as they were grouped together for their project in science. Looking at her, she can see that Nanami has dark rings under her eyes, empathetic towards her.

'I guess she didn't sleep a lot last night'

Lost in her thoughts, she didn't hear the conversation between her group mates.

"... gome"

"...Kagome"

"Kagome!"

Blue eyes startled at her name being called, glancing towards the person, her eyes caught short curly pink hair and hazel eyes pouting at her, raising her right hand to scratch her back, sweat dropping.

"Ah, sorry Ami! Yes, I agree"

Agreeing despite not knowing about it, she saw Ami smile at her.

'Ah…'

"Great! Then, see you tomorrow Kagome!"

Nodding at her, she saw Nanami gather her books and stuff them inside her bag before she hurriedly walked out of the door.

It was night when Kagome walked outside the store, venturing down the street she heard a sound of dog barking, reaching the noise she saw a young woman just rescued a shady man on the tree before sitting beside her. Passing in front of them, her groceries grabbed by her right hand, when she felt a strong aura from the man, glancing back she saw a familiar figure beside him.

"Nanami?"

Blue eyes met wide brown eyes, before narrowing at the man beside her, striding in her direction, she pulled Nanami behind her.

"Kagome! What are y-"

"Stay back Nanami, that man was dangerous"

"Eh?"

Blue eyes glared at the man smiling at her.

"What business does the god have here?"

"Oh, you must be the Shikon priestess eh, never thought I would meet you Kagome Higurashi."

"Eh? Kagome-san you knew him? And what do you mean god?"

Lifting pale hand to remove his hat, he bowed to them before brown eyes met a similar one.

"Good evening ladies, I'm Mikage, one of the land gods at the Mikage Shrine. Nanami, I would like to thank you for saving me earlier, and so, I decided to give you my shrine as a form of gratitude…. and I think you deserve it, now you can have a house to live in with"

Pale hands grab a piece of paper inside his pocket before extending them to Nanami, when a callous hand reaches for it, following the owner of the hand he sees blue eyes glaring at him, snatching the piece of paper.

"No, Mikage-sama, I won't allow you to have this young woman thrown in your responsibility, instead I will offer her my house while I accept yours."

Kagome turned towards Nanami, facing her fully.

"Nanami, we may not talk often to one another but, I won't let you take this responsibility. This… I want you to have a normal life as a student and live your dreams, I… I don't want you to experience this and so, I decided to let you live in my apartment while I take your place. I'm sorry that this was sudden, and it felt like I'm robbing you of something but please understand, I will tell you the truth tonight"

Nodding at her, not fully understanding the situation. Kagome turned to Mikage once more before bowing.

"Mikage-sama, I may seem rude to you earlier but please understand my reasoning… I'll accept her task as my own, I want to save her from pain later on"

'Just like what happen to me'

Brown eyes behind eye glasses soften at her, understanding her situation before glancing at Nanami.

'She may not be the one to take over for now, but she will be awaken in time'

"I see, then this is my boon for your strength and being responsible for taking the role, Kagome. However, remember that Nanami won't escape her destiny, and shall be awakened later on, and so, I ask that you train her for it and become ready.

Now, in that paper was the address to my shrine. On the morrow night, you can visit that place and let my familiar know that you're the new Land god, just present this mark on your forehead."

Disappearing in a flash of light, as bubbles remain signifying that a god talked to them, bowing once more before turning to Nanami, who's gaping at her. Laughing at her comical face, Nanami sputtered at her, before ushering her towards her apartment.

'I never thought youkais were real…. and Kagome'

Brown eyes looked determined, walking down the streets venturing to her school, her long brown hair swayed behind her whilst her uniform fluttered as well, absentminded (recalling memories from last night), she bump into someone, falling down she close her eyes waiting for the impact when a hand catches her waist, opening her eyes she met a handsome man with black short hair and black eyes looking at her, flushing, releasing herself from his hold before bowing.

"Ah… ummm, Thank you!"

"Hn."

Passing her by, she followed his stride and stared on his broad back, dumbfounded.

After their class, Kagome went to Nanami giving the keys as she told her to go first while she would go to the address the land god gave her. Nodding at her, she went outside first before reaching for the piece of paper indicating the direction - a scrappy one. Looking at her watch, it was 7:00 pm when she found the rundown shrine, annoyed at the Land god before venturing forward.

As soon as her right foot steps in the shrine, a voice echoed in her surroundings before a wisp of spirits appeared in front of her.

"Land god?"

"Are you the Land god?"

"No she's not Mikage-sama"

"Not Mikage-sama"

Looking at them, blue eyes soften at the spirits - they were children, missing her son.

"My name is Kagome Higurashi, I was sent here to be your Land god by Mikage-sama. This here is my proof."

Removing her bangs to let them see the mark the previous land god gave her.

"Then, Kagome-sama, you may enter. I'm Kotetsu while he's Onikiri."

"WELCOME, KAGOME-SAMA!"

Laughing at them, before striding inside the shrine.

Sitting inside the empty shrine, blue eyes scan her dirty surroundings.

'If I'm going to stay here, I better clean this place'

Glancing at the girl will-o-the wisp child.

"Kotetsu, do you have a rug here? I would like to clean this place as I decided to stay here"

"Eh?"

"Kagome-sama, you're going to stay here?"

Both wisp children turn to her, behind those masks she felt their hopeful gazes, smiling at them brightly.

"Yes!"

"Yatta!"

"Thank you, Kagome-sama!"

"By the way, is Mikage-samas' familiar here?"

"Eh…ummm"

Kotetsu looks at Onikiri, nodding at her.

"Kagome-sama, Tomoe-sama isn't here."

'Tomoe?'

"Then where is he? Would you bring me there?"

Staring at her for a moment, hesitant heads bowed at her.

On the demon world

Laughter was heard inside the room, as women's voices entertained a male youkai inside, his head resting on one of the woman's lap as a cup of sake was held by his right clawed hand, indulging himself in alcohol and debauchery.

Suddenly, the door to his room slid open, ignoring the familiar auras that entered the room, his eyelids remaining close whilst his right ear twitched towards the sound.

"Tomoe-sama"

"What do you want Onikiri?"

"Tomoe-sama, the new land god was looking for you. I advice that you return to her"

"Oh so Mikage did not return eh, and now it was replaced by a woman. Then, tell her I have no intention to return unless it was Mikage"

Exhaling smoke while letting his cup be filled and drinking it, turning his back on them.

"But Tomoe-sama…"

"What is it, Kotetsu?"

"Kagome-sama is here"

Silence stretches inside the room, Tomoe continuously drinks his sake, while the wisp children let the information sink in.

'Kagome, eh….'

Eyes snapping open, as violet slitted eyes widened, getting sobered.

"Wait, Kagome!"

Leaning on the door, her fringe covers her eyes, sensing the familiar youki enjoying the company of other women behind the door, grimacing.

'I see, five hundred years is too long after all. I can't expect him to remain celibate. Still…sigh'

"...Wait, Kagome!"

'I guess that's my cue'

Stepping forward as the light revealed her appearance, violet slitted eyes widened at her, trembling, before lifting her head looking at him, forming a smile to greet him.

"Hello Tomoe, it's been a while neh?"

Blue eyes dimmed at the sight of the room, him lying while two women-tanuki demon she presumed, splayed on each of his side.

"I see, you've been busy these days. Carry on. Kotetsu, Onikiri let's go, I think Tomoe likes to stay for a while."

Not waiting for the wisp children, she pivoted on her feet and ran outside the building, tears fell on her cheeks not looking where she was going, wanting to get away from them.

Violet slitted eyes look at where Kagome stands, body stilled before gasping, tears filled his eyes finally seeing the woman he loved, glancing at the spirits, frustrated that their meeting happened like this.

"Why did you bring her here!?"

"Ummm… ummm, Kagome-sama insisted to come"

"Tsk!"

Standing abruptly, he chases after her, ignoring the protest from the courtesans, summoning his foxfires to help him find her.

'Kagome I'm sorry…. I will definitely find you'

Blue eyes scan her surroundings, she finds herself in the middle of nowhere, looking at the dead trees, summoning her spiritual energy as she senses several youkais surrounding her from the woods, running forward she bumps into someone. Looking at the person - demon per se. It was an oni, its appearance is intimidating for a normal human, and she's not.

"A human, you look delicious"

His mouth opened, exposing sharp teeth while drooling, its eyes looking at her.

'Shit, I don't have my bow'

Looking at the oni, glaring as she was beginning to get annoyed at her situation, first she saw her soon-to-be mate indulging himself in other women, second, she's lost and third, she got no bow and there's an oni in front of her, wanting to devour her.

"Fuck this"

Her power rises as white light outlines her figure, flowing on her hands before raising them towards the oni, purifying him. Screams of the oni being purified echoed all throughout the forest, low-level demons back away at once, some run to hide afraid of getting caught.

Not sensing any demons, she started to walk when a voice called her, turning around she saw Tomoe dashing towards her.

"Kagome!"

Embracing her, trembling as he shed tears on her shoulders. Patting his back as he continues to burrow his head on her neck.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry… thank god you're safe… I'm sorry… I miss you"

"Shhh, I understand… it's okay if you have someone you like, I understand"

Gripping her shoulder, he let her see his face, anguished.

"NO! There's none, there's only you Kagome. I'm sorry, after Inuyasha pushed you down the well, I don't know when we will meet… It was five hundred years, he says, ``I tried waiting for you but you never appeared, I tried to forget you….but I can't. I'm really sorry…"

Tears fell on her eyes, caressing his face - finally she was able to meet him, her knees buckled as she fell on the ground with him, sobbing hard, finally she found him.

Hugging one another, relishing in each other's embrace - finally they found each other. Blue eyes met Violet ones, whispering to her, nodding back, before leaning his forehead on hers, only hair width separating their lips before meeting in between, sharing a kiss - pouring all those frustrations from being separated and finally reuniting once more.

Minutes has passed when they separated, standing up as they held each others hand.

"Kagome, let's go home"

"Yes, Tomoe"

"Kagome, do you want me as your familiar?"

"Do you want to?"

"Yes"

"Then, yes"
