Reaching this UA place had taken a bit longer than even Aizawa could admit. The villain that had brought KO here and whisked Midoriya away had caused a significant amount of trouble before the three teens had arrived by sending civilians and pro heroes across the city making room for several villains to make their move.
Thankfully, and with some difficulty, he'd kept himself and KO out of the chaos but the boy had tried to insist he could help. Even if by some miracle that was true, which Aizawa heavily doubted, the boy lacked any form of license so any involvement would end badly and in a lot of paperwork.
By the time they'd reached the dorms the sun was already setting and many of the students had gone to bed.
"Woah! Is this the school, it's really huge that's so cool! You know my friend Enid got to go to a hero school in our dimension too but-"
"They were operating with the ideals of villains more than heroes." Aizawa finished. He'd already heard the story before at least a couple times on the way here. KO's stories were incredible to imagine even in a society like this that he wondered if there was actually some truth to them. A kid couldn't get into such specifics so easily for a story they just made up? And that theory hadn't been disproven altogether either. "And no these are just the Dorms for Class 1-A. The students I teach."
"Oh right I already told you sorry." he laughed as he followed the Pro Hero inside. "And woah that's still pretty big, there must be a ton of them. And I'm sure they're all going to be great heroes since you seem to be one too Mister."
'Mister'. Yes, the boy had yet to use his actual name and he suspected it was due to having trouble pronouncing it. "Maybe someday, but they still have a lot to learn." leading him to the elevator, he pressed the buttons for one of the boy's floors. In the event of receiving more students from either recommendations or via students transferred from other classes, each floor had one additional room that was to remain unoccupied.
Aizawa had already called ahead to have one of those rooms ready for him and so the room was cleaned of any dust that may have accumulated since its furnishing. "Anyways, you'll be staying here until we can find a way to get you back to-"
"Lakewood Plaza Turbo!" he asked, smiling as he walked on inside.
"Right." Aizawa sighed. If this kid was lying, he was very persistent. "Breakfast is at 8 am if you want to head downstairs then and afterwards I've asked about having you demonstrate your quirk in a much safer environment. And please, don't tell anyone else about the possibility of you being from another dimension for now. I would rather wait until we can confirm or deny it ourselves." he explained.
"Hey don't worry I won't! Thanks so much by the way Mr.!" KO smiled as he walked on in. Clearly happy to pop into any sort of bed after what must've been a very long day for a kid his age.
"There's an alarm clock so please try not to be late." he said, then sighed again before adding, "Have a goodnight kiddo."
"It's KO." he smiled back.
Tired was a word that KO only shared a brief acquaintance with. At his age while sugar often kept the blood pumping, it was hardly the only thing he needed to keep him up at night. Initially, he'd crashed for maybe an hour or two before waking up again, eager to start a day in an entirely new world of heroes.
So, as an exciting and clever kid would do, he pushed himself out of bed and quiet as a mouse, slinked his way out of his room. He wasn't planning on staying out too long, but he'd seen a few nameplates and wanted to look around at them and try to guess what kinds of powers the students had.
While names back in his dimension had a degree of association with their powers sometimes, the names here made little to no sense to him so he was left clueless as to whatever cool abilities they may have had. With a huff of indignation and the realization that he may be pushing his luck if he tried to explore the other floors, he walked back to his own room.
By the time he passed the door marked, Fumikage Tokoyami, a name which KO hadn't even tried to pronounce, he felt a cold chill run up his back. Twirling around to look for anything that may have induced the feeling of unease. Stumbling onto his bum when he saw a strange shadowy looking figure looking down at him that had creeped from under the door.
"Hmm, just some weird kid." the creature spoke, as if to answer a voice KO hadn't heard. He remembered the villain from earlier today and his wispy abilities and felt himself brace up for another fight.
"Wait a kid?" A teenage voice came from the other side of the dorm door as it was opened by a tall boy with a strange..bird face? "Oh I'm sorry if Dark Shadow scarred you child. But I don't normally suspect to hear anything at this hour. Especially not from a kid. Why are you here?"
The boy seemed kind thankfully even if his power and his appearance both seemed a bit creepy. "Oh well, it's a bit of a long story. I'm staying here in the dorms for a while, Mr. A was going to introduce me to you guys tomorrow but I woke up and thought I'd look around the floor." he explained, "My name is KO by the way!"
The bird boy chuckled in what must've been amusement. "I am Fumikage Tokoyami, and you have already met my quirk Dark Shadow." he introduced, giving a nod to the strange shadow which had scared him. "I'd ask you more questions but if Mr. Aizawa would rather complete introductions tomorrow it may be better for you to go back to bed and get some rest KO."
"Well what about you? It's like, super late for you guys too right?'' KO hadn't noticed until then but he was partly blocking view into his room. Was he hiding something, there wasn't much to see since it all looked dark anyways.
Tokoyami chuckled, "Well, my quirk prefers the night time and often will keep me up quite late. Don't worry too much, I still get all the rest I need. But you're clearly still growing and need all the rest you can get."
"Oh well okay. But then, before I go, I'd really like to know how your power- or erm quirk works? Dark Shadow right?" KO asked reaching over to pet the living shadow and oblivious that nocturnal quirk or not this was perhaps a bit too many questions at 2 am.
While Dark Shadow swatted away his hand rudely, Tokoyami didn't mind answering. "It's a part of me and does what I say in order to fight on my behalf. Somewhat of a dark alter ego that exists outside of me if that makes any sense to you."
KO tilted his head and nodded in understanding. "That's pretty cool! Kinda creepy but like not in a bad way ahah. I guess you could say I sorta have something like that too. I can't really control it that well though...actually I don't know how much I can say since Mr. A wouldn't even let me show off until tomorrow, or, today I guess it is."
"I'm sure whatever it is it's nothing compared to me kiddo." Dark Shadow said but was shushed by its master.
"I'll be looking forward to seeing what you are capable of then. Maybe in the morning you could help explain why a child is here in the dorms." he said.
"You too! I'd really like to see how cool Dark Shadow looks when fighting." KO smiled, running off towards his room again around the time one of the other students knocked on the wall to try and shut them up. "Have a good night Toko!" it was the best he could remember.
And while he ran over into his room. He would've missed one comment from Dark Shadow.
"See, I told you kids would love me."
