Team5dsforever- I would have to agree. By our own moral beliefs it's wrong but when you are a nation that is being blamed for something your ancestors did and the whole world wants to kill you. There is very little that you can do other than killing them back.
A/N: 12/04/2021-please stop requesting season 4 scenes. I said back in the second chapter what i plan to show. Season 4 will show, just not for a while.
"You're just tired, aren't you?" Eren placed his hand on Reiner's shoulder roughly. "Right, Bertolt? You've been through so much, it's making you crazy."
"Y-Yeah," Bertolt stuttered, sweating. "Reiner's just really tired."
"Besides, if you were really the Armored Titan that wants to destroy humanity why would you be asking me this in the first place? What did you think would happen? That I'd nod and say 'Sure, let's go?'"
Reiner looked horrified and Bertolt continued to look uneasy.
The wind pushed the dark gray clouds fiercely. Mikasa had yet to move as Armin and the others kept moving.
"Oh, right." Reiner finally spoke. "That's right." Beads of sweat covered his face. "What the hell was I thinking? Have I really gone crazy?"
"Reiner was having a split personality issue." The host explained, "After the death of Marcel, he got so into the role of being a leader and then a soldier of the walls and a warrior of Marley that everything blended together."
"Come on, let's go." Eren started to walk away. Eren's reflection could be seen walking away from Reiner and Bertholdt in a puddle.
The water rippled as the wind picked up speed. The flagpole broke and noisily fell down the Wall, hitting it and shattering the silence. Eren gasped, looking over his shoulder.
"Anyone else feel like something is about to go down?" Connie asked. Ymir hit his shoulder, "Will you shut up for once!"
The clouds moved quickly. Hange and Moblit had paused. Sasha looked back at Eren while Armin stayed facing forward. Sunlight broke through the clouds. Mikasa's hand rattled the handle of her sheathed sword, ready to strike.
"I see… That's it. I've been here too long for my own good." Reiner spoke, back facing Eren. "It's been three long years…surrounded by nothing but idiots. We were just kids… We didn't know anything. If only I never knew that there were people like this. I…wouldn't have become…such a half-assed piece of shit" Tears were gathered in his eyes.
Sympathy would be the best way to describe the Scout's faces, some still held looks of betrayal but most couldn't bring themselves to hate children who had no choice.
Annie was never one to show her feelings but as much as she loathed to admit it, Reiner and Bertholdt were like brothers to her. She should've fought harder against his decision to carry on, and stopped his personality shift from changing anymore.
Eren's eyes darted to Reiner's hurt arm.
"It's too late now…" Reiner removed the sling. "I don't know what's right anymore. But the only choice for me now…is to face the consequences of my actions…"
Slowly Hange and Moblit shifted their bodies back to them, but turned their heads in surprise, hearing the hissing of steam.
"…and as a warrior…fulfill my duty to the bitter end!" Reiner held up his arm. The wound healed quickly. Little flecks of embers flew as it closed completely.
Even after hearing their confession and story, some part of Eren was wishing it wasn't true.
Eren gasped, his breathing shaky.
"Reiner! Are we doing it?!" Bertolt asked, panicked. "Now?! Right here?!"
Eren turned around, "Are you crazy? On top of the wall, how would Bertholdt even form himself fully up there?" The warriors paused, surprised that Eren was even talking to them before Sasha interrupted, "Hey, how come Bert formed his titan so quickly at Trost? But when you guys first came here, from the stories I heard, most of the residents in Maria heard your transformation before they all saw you."
"The nine titans all have different special powers. As the Colossal titan I can control the power of my transformation, from a small lightning strike to a... city destroying explosion." Erwin turned around intrigued, but didn't show it. "So what are the other Titan shifters special powers?" Bertholdt looked at the host to see him shaking his head, "I don't know about the others, but for Reiner it's mainly his armour as his power. For Annie, it's her stamina and endurance. And for Ymir, her special power is in the name 'Jaw'. Her teeth and nails can break through some of the strongest materials on the planet."
"And what titan does Miss Leonhart hold?" Mike asked. "I hold the Female titan. I'll say this now, if any of you boys make a dumb remark when you see me, I'll kick you where it hurts." Annie answered, her face turning dark.
Gelgar snorted quietly and turned to Henning, "Doesn't Commander Pixis have a weird fetish thing to be eaten by a titan that looks female?" Henning smirked, "We should ask the host to bring him in here, he'd have a field day."
"Yeah. We settle this…right here, right now!" Reiner said as he turned away.
Mikasa appeared from behind Eren and swung at Reiner, cutting his arm and part of his throat but he caught the blade with his other hand.
Spinning, Mikasa struck Bertolt. Time seemed to slow as the three boys fell and she went for Bertolt.
Reiner was confused, 'she could've killed both me and Bertholdt from behind. We were distracted and threatening Eren. Given that she's an Ackerman, we both should be dead. So WHY didn't she kill us?'
"Eren!" Mikasa pinned Bertolt under her boot as he gurgled, clutching his neck. She pointed her sword straight down, ready to run him through with it. "Run!"
"NOOO!" Annie and Reiner screamed. Mikasa wasn't sure what to feel; killing the person who destroyed their lives would be a great pleasure but knowing who it was and his full story, she knew that the feeling of revenge would be quickly swept away.
Reiner shoved Mikasa off the Wall with his shoulder but she quickly deployed her 3D gear.
Mikasa felt pain in not killing Bertholdt, but a very small part of her felt relieved too. Behind her, Reiner and Annie let out sighs of relief while holding onto Bert's arms to assure themselves he was okay.
"Bertholdt!" Bertholdt clutched his bleeding neck as stared sadly. Eren continued to stand by.
Yellow-orange lightning crackled around Reiner as he stood protectively in front of Bert, as lightning crackled around him too.
"Eren!" Armin yelled, running for them with Hange, Sasha, Moblit, and the others behind him. "Get out of there!"
Reiner and Bertholdt's faces crackled with lightning, the faces of their titan forms flashed in front of them.
Constant lightning struck the wall, forcing Armin and Sasha off their feet. Scouts and crates were forced back by the strong gales.
Hange nodded, "So were you controlling your transformation just then? Pushing everyone back with the winds?" Bert nodded, "Probably to keep you from getting too close to us. I have a feeling its to take Eren away without anyone stopping us."
Krista was sent rolling and she tried to clutch the Wall for support.
"KRISTA!" Ymir yelled, holding onto the small form beside her. "HOLD ON!" Reiner called out. Ymir stared at Reiner angrily. "You put her in that position you bastard." Reiner held his hands up and shrank into the couch.
Bones began to form, digging into the sides of the Wall. Eren held the edge of the Wall, trying to pull out his sword. Still stunned, he watched the Armoured and Colossal Titans appear among the steam. Finally the steam pushed Eren off the wall, he flew backwards until the Armoured Titan grabbed him.
The screen faded away.
"Not gonna lie, I still hate you guys but I will admit you looked kinda cool when you came out from the steam like that." Everyone looked incredulously at Connie for a second before some nodded with him, "Thanks Connie. I think."
Before anyone could stand up to stretch, the screen flashed on again.
Two soldiers came out of the forest, followed by a Titan. It completely ignored the Scouts in front of it.
"That's an abnormal!" Armin said.
"Abnormals are very unpredictable. Half of them will ignore the meal in front of them. The other half will fixate on one target," Nanaba explained. "Fighting them is as easy as fighting two normal titans at once."
"It's only necessary to fight abnormals, whose behaviour is unpredictable."
"Damn, guess we have no other choice," Ness cursed. "Siss, you get it's nape! I'll stop it!"
"Sir!" Siss yelled from the other side of the Titan.
"Hey Ness, it's us!" Siss waved his arms in the air. "I can see that Siss." His smile dropped as he remembered what he was fighting. A human being.
Ness pulled out his blades. 'Fighting with ODM on level ground is clearly unfavourable. The chance of success is extremely low, but I can't risk having the formation torn apart.' He looked at its path. 'Arlet should be over there. I don't want to let a new recruit run into one of these. We have to kill it here!' He carefully stood on Charlotte and jumped.
Mike nodded, "As selfless as ever aren't you Ness." Ness smirked and held it, even though he was thinking the same thing as Siss. He was about to kill someone who was once human. 'It was a criminal before, but a human nonetheless. No,' Ness thought, 'Ymir said we are putting them out of their misery. Besides Arlet is still alive, I can't let my morality get in the way.'
A hook shot into the Titan's heel and the soldier surfed on the ground, using the speed and force from the abnormal to swing behind it. With a thrust of gas, he whipped forward and severed its left tendon, causing the titan to fall.
The Scouts whooped, albeit half-heartedly. Human or not, that was a good move. "Nice one squad leader!" Krista called from the front. Ness smiled and bowed. The humour and light-heartedness was bringing back some much needed relief for everyone.
"Now, Siss!"
Siss jumped and drew his blades, dropping and slicing at the exposed nape, killing the abnormal.
"What is that now Siss? 8 titan kills?" Lynne asked. Siss nodded, but not entirely comfortable with counting the kills anymore.
"You did it, Squad leader Ness!" Armin smiled widely.
Siss frowned, "What the hell Arlet?! Do we both look alike to you or something?" Armin glanced at the two men before smiling and nodding, making the room laugh.
Armin's smile dropped when he noticed something.
"Did I get him?" Ness wondered. A mean-faced horse came to him. "You came for me? That's why your my favourite." He quickly mounted her. "I love you, Charlotte!"
"Squad leader Ness? Why do you love Charlotte so much?" Connie asked. A lot of the veteran Scouts went silent real quick. Siss, Moblit and Peer faced away from Ness. Ness breathed deeply. "On the 46th expedition I was a new trainee. The squad I was with at the time were all people I grew up with. We were hit hard by a titan horde and I lost everyone in less than 30 seconds. I was standing still with no blades, no gas, no will left. Then Charlotte, who was my Squad leader's horse at the time, appeared by my side and practically forced me on her back. I don't know what it was but something within me just told me to fight."
Eren tensed. fight
"A voice in my head was telling me I had to fight back."
Fight
"You can't win unless you fight."
FIGHT
Eren turned to Mikasa, wide-eyed. Mikasa looked the same, "Those are the exact same words you told me." Eren nodded and turned back towards Ness. "Squad Leader Ness? How long ago was the 46th expedition?" Ness furrowed his brow in thought, "About 6 years ago. I remember it clearly, a nice sunny day before thunder and lightning hit. Why?"
Eren looked pale, "N-no reason." Mikasa wasn't faring much better. 'How? How did Ness hear those exact words on that same day. The same words Eren told me? It can't be just a coincidence.'
'Future' Eren looked between Eren and Ness. 'Damn fate, interfering with Ness's life. Keeping him alive until the day he's meant to die.' He looked up at the never-ending ceiling, 'That's just cruel.'
'YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO TALK TO ME ABOUT CRUEL. YOU MADE THIS LIFE FOR YOURSELF AND I HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE MESS THAT YOU CAUSED. NESS WAS ALWAYS DESTINED TO DIE AFTER HE MET YOU, YOUR 76TH VERSION TRIED TO STOP THAT AND NESS STILL ENDED UP DYING A FEW DAYS LATER. I PUT YOU IN HERE TO HELP YOUR LAST CHANCE. DON'T PUSH YOUR LUCK.'
A loud, disembodied voice echoed in his head, causing 'future' Eren to clutch his head in pain. "Are you ok?" Mike asked, seeing the host's discomfort. 'Future' Eren waved him off. "Fine."
Charlotte galloped by the steaming corpse. In the distance, a figure was moving toward them. Footsteps thumped. Ness and Siss looked over their shoulders. "Again? What is the right flank recon squad doing?" Siss said.
"If it ignored them and came this way, it must be another abnormal. We've got no choice then…" Ness pulled out his blades. "Let's do it again, Siss."
"Sir!"
The Scouts cheered again, "You got this guys!" Connie cheered. Jean narrowed his eyes and turned to Armin. "The music in the background. Do you hear it?"
"But really, to have to do this twice in a row. And I think it's at least a fourteen-meter class. This one will be tough."
Armin nodded, "Something's coming." Armin glanced at the warriors behind him. "It might be Annie's titan. We've already seen Bert and Reiner transform. What are the odds that this scene is about Annie's titan?" Jean sighed, "What are the odds that Ness and Siss are about to die?"
The footsteps were almost upon them and Ness looked over his shoulder, gasping.
The Female Titan raced toward them. Siss made a noise at the sight of it.
"It's a titan with TITS! Wait, it's a female! Those are Annie's TI-" CRACK! Connie screamed as Annie kicked his gonads painfully. The males in the vicinity winced and groaned at Connie's pain. Sasha giggled at Connie in the foetal position and patted his head, "She did warn you."
"HOLY SHIT! Annie, you're so beautiful." Hange screamed. Annie looked uncomfortable.
Gelgar and Henning were rolling on the floor in laughter. "I wish Pixis was here, he would DIE of jealousy right now!" Gelgar gasped out.
"Honestly Annie, if we hadn't learned that you can change into titans. I probably would've thought that maybe the female titan would want to MATE with Eren!" Hange yelled.
Silence.
Then...
Full bellied laughter erupted from the Scouts, most of them falling on the floor
Erwin sighed, closing his eyes, as he was nudged by a chuckling Mike.
Levi rolled his eyes, "Tch, brats."
"That's ugh" Christa gagged.
"That's grim," Jean looked grossed out.
Petra mock threw up. "Why would you even say that?"
"Is that even possible? Cause he's doesn't even have any..." Connie screamed as Annie kicked him in the nuts again.
Reiner whispered to Bertholdt, "with the power of hardening, anything is possible."
Bertholdt went red as he tried to hold in his laughter. A tear rolled down his cheek.
Eren was mortified and Mikasa just looked irritated.
They both dodged out the way as a massive foot came down between the horses. Armin fired a black smoke round. Ness looked forward spotting Armin. "What's that?" Armin's arm dropped limply by his side, his eyes wide. "It's too fast!"
"Don't let it reach Arlet! Siss!" Ness jumped off his horse.
"Right!" Siss jumped and flew toward the Female Titan. Coming in at a wide arc, he cried out, blades ready.
The Female Titan caught and crushed his upper body, his legs being the only thing shown. Armin gasped in surprise.
The female titan clutched Ness's wires in her other hand and smashed him into the ground. His body bounced. Blood spurted from the broken body.
As quickly as the laughter appeared, it left the room.
"... so. That's uh..." Ness scratched his head. Siss stared in disbelief. Their couchmates, Peer and Moblit, looked at the two in shock. "W-we just..." Siss trailed off. Ness appeared to be thinking deeply about something before standing and walking over to Annie.
The girl stayed seated and prepared herself for the likely verbal or physical attack. What she wasn't expecting was a hand to gently grasp her shoulder, almost comfortingly. She looked up to see the man scrutinising her, "You got someone waiting for you back in Marley?" Ness asked. Annie froze, not expecting his calmness. She would've welcomed insults or even a beating, mainly because she was used to them and could mentally prepare. For the first time, this was something she was completely unprepared for.
A small nudge from Bertholdt reminded her to answer Ness' question, "Yeah. My dad. He's all I got left." Ness nodded, "I don't have anyone waiting for me. Charlotte is the only light in my world. As long as I die before her, I'm happy. Well, you know what I mean. I can't speak for Siss because he has people back home. Judging from the direction you came from, it's likely you killed the right flank recon squad too. Some of them probably have family as well. They won't forgive you for killing them. As for me, I forgive you and I understand. You complete your mission you get to go home. It's just unfortunate you have to kill so many people to go back." Annie nodded dumbly, unable to understand why Ness was being so... okay with all this.
Ness smiled a little and squeezed Annie shoulder before going back to his seat. Everyone who watched the conversation had their jaws open. Mike shook his head sadly, "As selfless as ever aren't you Ness."
Ness gauged the room, "Oh come on everyone. I'm not dead yet. Neither is Siss and because we know this, we won't make the same mistake again." The room perked up a little.
'Future' Eren looked at Ness, Siss and the rest of the room sadly. 'They were all so full of life the first time. Now it's sickening. Knowing most of the room never get to live past ten years. And the few times the others managed to get them to live just a bit longer, fate has to kill them in worse ways. It's not fair to them, because of my failings, they have to suffer.'
He noticed everyone was silent and stood up. "Well, there's your Colossal, Armoured, Female and Jaw titan reveals. After Reiner and Bert reveal themselves, they get away with both Eren and Ymir. What I will show you next is the Scouts chasing them down and the beginning of the end. After this, you can all grab something to eat and go bed. You'll know when you have to wake up."
Will Connie recover from having his nuts hit twice? Will Zeke, Pieck and Porco show themselves? And just who is 'Future' Eren talking to?
Find out in uhhh... a week, maybe two?
Seriously though. Thank you all for your reviews last chapter. I do have to apologise as the only reason i managed to get 2 big chapters out within a week is because i am off work.
I'm back to working tomorrow so chapters will unfortunately be shorter and posted less frequently. But i have another week off soon and you can guarantee, some big chapters will be posted around them.
