Don't you just LOVE it when you promise new content to your readers and immediately feel like you jinxed yourself only to find that you actually did end up jinxing yourself and end up having to do something else on the days you told your readers to expect new content and you end looking like a big ass douchebag?

Yeah, I have, lots of times. It's getting annoying.Well, at least I've finally set up a story updating schedule up and running. Guess that's one thing to be positive about. I really am sorry by the way.

Alright, review time. And thanks to all of you have supported this story.

Valkrus: Hehe, sorry, that's probably my bad…

SilverWolf227: It's intentional, I plan to have this Izuku a mixture of certain characters. Namely Tony Stark, Niles the Butler, and one more when it comes to his combat prowess. You'll see in time. ;)

Argo Devilian: Once I read your review, I took the time to watch over some of the moments Momo and Iida shined through in the anime. And I gotta say, you're right. I struggle to write the more subtle personalities in characters like them, more so in Iida than in Momo, but I'll try my best to stay as faithful to the source material while adding my own twist. As for Momo in greater detail, well, she did grow up with Izuku, which is a pretty big change in the influences she had while growing up, so it'd make sense for her to be a little OOC. Same with Izuku, who's got plenty of that. But like I said with Iida, I'll try my best to get it right while putting my own additions. As for that other fanfic you've read with a similar concept, only with Izuku receiving a Quirk, it's called The Bodyguard by 29tigers. That is, if the Quirk Izuku receives is a spiritual animal (tiger) power. If not, then I'm as lost as you, lol.

Zechs-DXD: Well, it may not be as soon as we'd all like, but I'll definitely update when I can. And now I'm here with a new chapter for you! Enjoy!

PasiveNox: Thank you!

Fox Boss: Well, this fanfic will sure utilize the support course a lot. And with the plans I have for this story, ideas for suits to be used later on down the road are welcome. So go ahead and PM me if you'd like. I'll see where I can integrate them in the future, be it in a some future chapters or arcs. Looking forward to seeing your creativity!

wildarms13: Why, thank you!

Chapter 6

"Stop right there!"

Mei Hatsume couldn't help but be startled as her focus was diverted from her spectacular baby-making to the young boy in front of her; face set in mild panic, effectively stopping her in her tracks. "Hm?"

The boy held a finger towards her project; a set of bulky boots with rather large soles, "Your wiring on the generator to the vents are misplaced."

Mei took a look at the interior workings of her boot. Just as she thought, every wire was correctly placed. Wire type, color, and thickness, all correct and accounted for, what could possibly be wrong?

"Umm, no?"

The boy walked over, and stopped right next to her. He gave the work a once-over, murmured a 'as I suspected', grabbed a wire, and tugged it loose.

"Hey!" cried out Mei, offended at the audacity of some random boy taking apart her work, "My baby!"

The boy -okay, she needed something else to refer to him besides 'the boy'... He had green hair, freckles too. Maybe greenie? Yes, greenie would do for now. Anyway, greenie only shrugged off her efforts to push him away from her work, and turned to display the wire he had removed, revealing it to be two intertwined ones. "Do you see this?"

"Yeah! What's so wrong about it that you need to dismantle my baby?" Mei called out.

"Look closer, Miss Hatsume. These are 8-Gauge wires; connected to a 30-amp inlet box. If you are to use an inlet that large, you must use wire worth 10 Gauges or more. It's basic NEC Safety Code." Greenie dug around some more, "Thankfully, it's only this particular set that suffered this problem. The rest you seem to have followed protocol for. Why substitute two for one?"

"I ran out," Mei said. The boy only sighed before heading back to his work desk. The pink-haired girl turned in her stool, brow furrowed in thought. Yes, she had run out of 10-Gauge wires, but she was Mei Hatsume, and Mei Hatsume never stopped her work due to a simple lacking material -hence the intertwined wiring. It was an easy enough problem to ignore, until greenie brought it up -literally- and disrupted her focus. But she was Mei Hatsume, and nothi-

"Miss Hatsume?"

Mei jerked her head back around, what now? Surely he couldn't be coming back with the teacher? Was he trying to kick her out of the lab? No fair! She only blew up her station four times these past five days, and they weren't even that big! And this wire situation, it was a simple mistake! A misplaced replaced wire! Sure, the numbers were a little off, but with enough current running through the wiring, the amp flow could be stabilized! Which inventor didn't make improvisations on the spot?

Her ramblings were cut off as she saw the boy at her side, his hand outstretched to offer a handful of 10-Gauge wires.

Mei alternated between looking at the offer and the boy, her features becoming brighter with each passing second.

He smiled softly, "Your work is wonderful, I think it a shame to act so recklessly and risk damaging such a beautiful 'baby'. If you find yourself lacking in resources, please, there is no shame in asking."

Mei swiped the wires from his hands, "Thank you! Now official baby number twelve can be completed properly!"

The boy raised a brow, "Twelve, you say?"

Mei nodded, keeping the somewhat hasty conversation going without losing concentration. It seemed as if she had garnered his interest. Well, time to show him what Mei Hatsume, inventor extraordinaire, could do!

"Yep! This is my latest baby; fan-powered hover boots! They're more or less a prototype, but once I can get my hands on more juicy parts, this baby will be getting a big upgrade!" Her energy palpable in her voice, she finished setting the wiring and drilled the panel closed. Turning to her observer, who appeared happy with her repair, she gave him a wide business-centric smile, "Wanna see?"

The boy put a thumb to his chin, glancing at his own workspace momentarily before grinning down at her, "Why not? Just let me gather a few of my own things, and we'll head out to the field."

~-*-~

Despite his willingness to observe Hatsume's rather sleek Hover Boots, Izuku did have his own support items to test out before the submitting period at the end of the week. So deciding to entertain the girl's enthusiasm and fulfill his assignments, Izuku brought along his own contrivances.

While letting Mei fasten the boots on; which required many straps around the legs thanks to their monstrous size, Izuku himself hurried over a few dozen meters of the field -a pair of test dummies grasped in his arms, and proceeded to set them up. Going back, he took out a small liquid vial and a grenade.

Yes, a grenade, a custom one though.

Opening the vial, he allowed the smallest bits of the nitroglycerin compound stored inside to trickle out and seep into the small hole-like gaps layered over the shell. The absorbent padding further inside absorbed the compound, priming the grenade. Preparing himself, Izuku went behind a tree, and pressed the two igniter boxes at the top and bottom of the grenade. A 'click' was heard, and Izuku flung the grenade.

"Bombs Away!"

It flew, and landed right at the dummy's feet. 'One one thousand, two one thousand, three one thousand-'

Boom!

An explosion bloomed from the grenade, the force and the heat slamming into the dummy. It flew a far few meters, and satisfyingly, the grenade was no worse for wear. Izuku smiled in pride, for at only two test trials, the utility grenades for Bakugo's Hero Costume were finally ready.

Walking up to the dummy, Izuku examined the side where most of the grenade's blast had impacted. Definitely burned a bit, but that was inevitable. Nothing Recovery Girl couldn't kiss better for students during practice, and for villains, well, boo-hoo for them. The dent made from the blast was more prominent though, but that could be simply due to the dummy's softer composition compared to the actual human body.

Izuku took out a notepad, 'Concussive Grenades. Status: Complete. It appears that the foam I used for the second trial is far more resilient than the first, given that the layer underneath the grenade's shell is still in prime condition. The mixture of sponge and kevlar has proven effective. Countdown until detonation is proficient as well; quick and silent; no trace that the enemy will hear until too late. Concussive factor is at Max proficiency; heat factor could be added unto, but that will be up to future testing.'

He snapped the notepad closed, "Very well, Miss Hatsume, let's hear it."

Mei, who had finally gotten herself ready, walked up to the center of the testing field, her boots strapped to her feet. Surprisingly, even with their large size the pink-haired girl seemed to have little to no difficulty in moving around while wearing them. "Get ready for Amazing Mei's baby number 12! Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the Hover Boots!"

The boots whirred with a powerful hum, and the metallic soles began to kick up dust as their fans spun with power. Before Izuku's eyes, Mei began to float up into the air one, two, three, four entire inches.

The boy's emerald eyes widened and an excited grin worked itself unto his lips. "Amazing! Simply amazing Miss Hatsume! Tell me, are you only able to hover in place, or are you able to move around? How long do the generators last? What about weight to watt ratio?"

In response to his first pair of questions, Mei simply angled her body forward the tiniest of bits, and the boots proceeded to move her right towards him. "I can move as much as I want! The generators last around an hour regardless of power output, so that means I can move slowly or quickly without worry of having my time limit decreased! As for weight, the boot's expanding vamps can fit a large number of foot sizes without me having to build new ones!"

Izuku lifted a finger, "Just a minute, if the boot can fit a variety of sizes, then… the generators- all those inlet boxes, don't tell me…"

"Adaptive Generators!" cried out Mei.

"And it's merely a prototype," he breathed out as he nodded, "To think that such a beautiful item would have been destroyed because of some inappropriate wiring, I'm glad I was there to help out, Miss Hatsume."

He looked up, and saw a beaming Mei practically in his face.

"Isn't this just the cutest baby?"

"A-ack!" he exclaimed, stumbling back. Another thing to note about the boots was that -despite their bulk and powerful generators- they were practically soundless barring the light whirring sound they gave off; practical for sneak attacks.

"What about you?" Mei asked, not even waiting for an answer before hovering to the side and crouching to pick up a grenade, "What's this baby do?"

Recovering from his earlier startle, Izuku softly took it out of her hands. She was known in the studio as being a hazard with these types of things, and Izuku had no wish to experience an explosion, regardless of location. "I'm glad you asked. This is a concussive grenade. My Hero Course student has an explosion Quirk; one that allows him to secrete a nitroglycerin-like substance from his palms. Using the absorbent foam layered under the grenade's shell, he can use these to carry spares should his sweat reserves be exhausted or an ally is in need of one. Just a couple of handlings while his hands are sweaty, and voila."

Mei nodded, her features studying yet another grenade. "And the trigger mechanism? Why are there two primers? Assuming you've adopted the mechanics of a standard grenade, then there's definitely a chemical delta along with the detonator. But if the nitroglycerin is the detonator, what ignites it?"

"Do you recall the spark lighters used in high-school chemistry?" asked the green-haired boy.

"Uh-huh…" Mei's eyes widened, "Oh! That's how you do it! The two primers are connected to one of those right? And when pressed, the mechanism creates a spark…" her features scrunched up for a moment, "But wouldn't that cause an immediate detonation? How did you get the delay factor in?"

"The foam is only able to fully absorb the nitroglycerin within its first layer; courtesy of the foam and kevlar infusion as the middle layer. When the sparks hit the innermost layer, it begins to burn through the foam, eventually meeting with the first layer. You can infer what happens next." was Izuku's response.

"Yeah, and thanks to the kevlar infusion, the foam is just that more resistant. It's a reusable grenade!" she shouted. Mei hugged the grenade to herself, "This is such a cute baby!"

The girl then flopped onto the ground, heavily so that a small dust cloud was kicked up. She pouted, "It's not fair you know, you get to make super cute babies for your assignment while I'm stuck with plain old clothes."

"And the boots?" Izuku commented, "Surely they're for one of your assigned students?"

She shook her head no. "All I got was someone with a skin-tight suit with a tape theme and another literally only made up of a pair of pants, boots and shoulder pads shaped like gears, and it was all red. Hmph, at least they had some aesthetic. But c'mon it's still not fair! How else am I gonna show the world my amazing babies if they have me only making clothes? They should assign clothes to someone else, we support students need to work on the technical stuff; the good stuff!"

Izuku only hummed in sympathy as he fastened a vambrace unto his arm. He pitied the girl, having the unfortunate task of only designing clothes with no gadgets whatsoever seemed like the worst nightmare for a support student, especially one as technically talented as herself. But maybe Majima Sensei assigned her those costumes for a reason?

"Perhaps if you proved to be less… of an explosive wild card, Majima Sensei could assign you more technical material? He's definitely acknowledged your talent. It's mainly a matter of not causing a ruckus so often." Izuku said.

"But what's baby-making without the thrill of the unexpected?"

Izuku chose not to answer that question.

~-*-~

They spent a little more time talking, mostly bouncing small ideas back and forth on how to improve their respective inventions before Izuku had to busy himself with his final task. Mei took it in stride, going back inside the Support Studio for some more tinkering with her boots and to design a new baby, leaving the green-haired boy by himself.

He never got to formally introduce himself, how rude of him. Though he doubted she would remember his name properly. After all, she had already forgotten the name of their Sensei, both civilian and hero.

"Power Stocker? Loader Trucker? Bucket Head?" she had guessed. Boy, didn't that lead to a few sniggers.

The sounds of machinery and busy support students echoed from the inside of the Studio as Mei opened the door and continued as it proceeded to close. Once it shit with a soft click, the only sound within earshot was the simple singing of the birds; courtesy of UA's forest-like grounds at the distance.

Izuku closed his eyes in concentration, shutting off all foreign sounds barring his own heartbeat. A soothing sound, rhythmic and focused. This week had been full of excitement and creativity, an environment that the young butler thoroughly enjoyed. But every once in a while, Izuku took the time to ground himself; to let the busy-ness just fade away even if only for a moment.

What seemed to last a good few minutes was only a couple of seconds, but the grounding did the trick. Now, back to business.

Grabbing a vambrace out of his organized pile, Izuku fastened it firmly onto his arm. Colored a forest-green with grenade-like studding over its exterior with a long and large silver grenade's pin along the outer forearm side, it cut a sleek and intimidating appearance. A big improvement to Bakugo's original bulkier request.

The idea of nitro-sweat reserves was not something that hadn't been considered in Izuku's pondering when it came to the blonde's costume. In fact, the young inventor had seemed it a necessity. The body -no matter the degree of mutation- did not have an unlimited amount of perspiration, and once it was exhausted, it needed replenishment. So a form of offense during that time period would no doubt be appreciated -hence the grenades and current vambrace, among other items.

But back to Izuku's current testing. The request that Bakugo had asked for was based off of two storage tanks that collected excess sweat from his palms and sucked it up into the gauntlet's vambrace tank, effectively storing it up until full and ready to use.

And when the handle was retracted and the pin pulled… let's just say that the results could be classified as rather unsavory.

That had been too much. Far too much.

Izuku had ignored the excessive amount of death references in his charge's requests -his knee pads being used to, and he quotes, 'kill with his knees' being such an example- he had accepted the flashiness of the costume, he had accepted the possibility of Bakugo himself having rather… unpleasant talks with Izuku if Momo's record of the boy was anything to indicate.

But creating such a tool for a Hero Course student who was capable of beheading a three-pointer with an raw, unaided explosion was definitely something he would not stand for. His lady had given him a small run-down of the boy's character, and while it was premature to jump to conclusions based off of one interaction alone, plenty could be seen with the recordings of the entrance exam. Katsuki Bakugo was a young boy whose battle prowess was honed immensely. Reaction times, Quirk usage creativity and control, it was all seen in the way he moved.

But he was also recklessly excessive, putting more power than necessary into his movements. He was telegraphed as well; fighting style relying on his Quirk far too much for a future hero to be comfortable with. In simpler terms, the blonde was flashy in all but the literal sense.

Well, maybe that too.

And due to this excessive behavior and mentality -because the way one acted was the reflection of the way one thought- Izuku had decided that while he wouldn't outright reject the idea, as he didn't want to provoke any ugly confrontations, he would downgrade it to appropriate levels.

Because in the end, they were still first years.

So here he was, with one of the slimmer, modified, low-powered versions of the Grenadier Gauntlets Bakugo himself would use by the start of next week, ready to try it out.

Taking out a miniature vlogging camera, Izuku angled it so as to capture both him and the future impact zone.

"Grenadier Gauntlet, Mark 1. First Field Test."

He took out one last vial of Nitroglycerin, and poured it into the storage tank fitted within the entirety of the outer side of the forearm; the side with the silver handle. Lightly shaking his arm about, Izuku let the liquid flow and slosh around before lifting his arm in an aiming position.

"Retracting handle now."

With a 'shlik' of the metal being retracted and the pin popping out, Izuku focused his eyes onto the boulder placed at a distance. The perfect dummy.

"Computerized simulations previous to this have been run, and the chance of success for this field test is at 97%. This Grenadier Gauntlet -while using the same detonation method as the prototype- does not require a full tank to be able to fire, though there is a minimum that must be met. The following trial is set at full tank storage so as to establish the result of a fully powered gauntlet beam. Further details in GGP logs one through five. Field Test commencing now."

A laser sight from the gauntlet's wrist honed onto the boulder's center, and Izuku prepared to fire.

"Pulling pin."

Ping!

The pin fell to the ground, and a glow began to shine from the handles. A whine of pure explosive power readying to spew forth sounded around Izuku's arm, and the heat was felt even through the gauntlet's protective layers and Izuku's own thick gloves. The boy planted his feet firmly on the ground, legs stable and strong. His shoulder and rest of his arm were reinforced with a reinforced testing pauldron, and his other hand safely grabbed at the forearm of his armored one; a stronghold created throughout his body.

And then the laser fired.

A beam of pure fiery energy shot out from the grenade-like handle, streaking right towards the boulder with incredible speed and precision. And once it impacted, the boulder was reduced to chunks amongst dust.

"Grenadier Gauntlet, test successful."

The pride was unmistakable in the young butler's voice.
