Chapter 5 - Eight, Fourteen & Twenty Two
"I cannot believe Mr Tanner let you on the team!" Caroline gushes from where she pointedly perched herself on Damon's knee, who's eyes continuously stray unconsciously to the kitchen.
"Tyler must be seething! But good for you. Go for it." Caroline adds, missing the exasperated look Elena and Stefan exchange.
"That's what I always tell him. You have to engage. You can't just sit and wait for life to come to you. You have to go get it." Damon announces subtly mocking Stefan, his attention snapping to the kitchen doorway as Angelina sashays through and sits next to Bonnie.
"Yeah well, Elena wasn't so lucky today. It's only because you missed summer camp." Caroline reassures her, loving that for once little miss perfect isn't so perfect.
"I don't know how you're ever gonna learn the routines." Caroline muses brushing her blonde hair out of her face as she eyes Elena up and down.
"I'll work with her. She'll get it." Bonnie interrupts pointedly, seeing the upset look on Elena's face. Her eyebrows furrowed, what the hell is wrong with Caroline?
"Angelina can help can't you AJ?" Bonnie questions looking at Angelina with her puppy eyes.
Angelina hums noncommittally before taking a sip of her whiskey, having decided she needed something stronger to cope with all the teenage drama.
"I really don't think Angelina's help will make any difference!" Caroline objects careful not to sneer, she does not want to be the subject of Angelina's wrath.
"I guess we could put Elena in the back." Caroline allows, pursing her lips slightly.
"Angelina's brilliant at cheerleading." Bonnie interjects, as always happy to brag about her.
"You were a cheerleader sexy red?" Damon asks shocked, trying not to groan at the imagine of her in a cheerleading get up.
"She was captain" Bonnie adds smugly, exchanging a smirk with Elena at the jealous look on Caroline's face.
"Ugh don't remind me." Angelina grimaces slightly, she loved gymnastics but hated cheerleading she only did it because it looked good on record.
"Yeah but it's a shame she got kicked off." Caroline mock mourns, not liking the fact that that Damon's eyes have barely left Angelina since they arrived.
"No I didn't, I graduated." Angelina comments dryly, not fazed by Caroline's attitude.
"What but you where only 16!" Caroline protests vehemently, there is no way she graduated two years early.
"And? I graduated early." Angelina drawls slowly as though speaking to someone thick, causing Stefan to hide his snigger with a cough.
"Why did you graduate early?" Damon asks confused tilting his head.
"To look after my son." Angelina states flippantly, not liking how close they're venturing to a subject she'd rather avoid.
"Oscar right?" Damon asks, having heard about her son. He had been ready to rip someones throat out for touching his red before finding out they were biologically Siblings.
Angelina bows her head in confirmation giving a small hum.
"You know Elena, I was wondering why you cheerlead, you don't seem like the cheerleading type" Damon changes the subject, instinctively knowing Angelina needs it.
"Oh, it's just because her parents died. Yeah, i mean she's just totally going through a blah phase. She used to be way more fun." Caroline criticises ruthlessly, uncaring of the horrified looks that she's receiving.
Caroline blanches at the scathing look Angelina gives her, "And I say that with complete sensitivity" She adds hastily, giving a sigh of relief as Angelina looks away dismissively.
"I'm sorry, Elena. I know what it's like to lose both your parents." Damon sympathises, frowning at Elena in mock sorrow.
"In fact, Stefan and I have watched almost every single person we've cared about die." Damon adds with a grimace, some by their own hands.
"We don't need to get into that right now, Damon." Stefan warns, an unimpressed look on his face.
Bonnie looks at Stefan in sympathy
"You know what you're right Stef. The last thing I wanted to do was bring her up." Damon smirks discreetly, watching Stefan close his eyes in frustration and Elena's face fall.
"I'm sure." Angelina dryly, rolling her eyes at the mock innocent look Damon sends her.
"Oh! It looks like you two and Angelina have something in common then. She lost all her family including her siblings." Caroline pipes up enthusiastically, Damon's compulsion having messed with her head.
"Caroline! Shut up!" Bonnie hisses defensively, furious that Caroline would even think about bringing it up.
"What everyone knows her siblings were mu-" Caroline begins only for Angelina to cut her off.
"Caroline I am going to only say this once, you speak another word about my family and I will rip out your tongue." Angelina warns her, allowing everyone behind her usual impassive mask to see the cold promise lurking in her eyes.
Caroline flinches back wide eyed and pale as a ghost.
Damon and Stefan look at them confused. What the hell are they talking about.
—
"One more." Damon announces striding into the kitchen, glass held up.
"Mmm, Thank you." Elena smiles, holding her hand out.
Damon passes the glass to her only to drop it before Elena can grab it and quickly catches it as Elena lets out a gasp.
"Nice save." Elena laughs, tilting her head and brushing her hair out of her face.
"I like you... you know how to laugh." Damon states pointing his finger at her and walking around her, "And you make Stefan smile which I haven't seen in a very long time." Damon adds, leaning against the counter as Elena looks at him inquisitively.
There's a pause.
"Earlier did you mean Katherine?" Elena asks hesitantly, going to put a plate in the dishwasher.
"Mm-hm." Damon hums in confirmation, leaning forward to take the plate out of her hand and place it in the dishwasher, looking at Elena with a raised eyebrow.
"How did she die?" Elena asks, her eyebrows furrowed.
"A fire. A tragic fire." Damon frowns, placing another plate in the dishwasher.
"Recently?" Elena questions, curious despite the pain on Damon's face.
"It seems like it was yesterday." Damon smiles, the smile a lie to cover the pain. The pain that has been receding more and more with every moment spent in Angelina presence. His Angels presence.
"What was she like?" Elena wonders quietly, watching Damon cautiously.
"She was beautiful, a lot like you in that department. She was also very complicated and selfish and sometimes not very kind, but very seductive." Damon explains, he can't bring himself to call her sexy that's reds name.
"So which one of you dated her first?" Elena questions a smug look on her face as she holds a plate out to him.
Damon chuckles huskily, "Nicely deduced." He praises a slight smirk on his face.
"Ask Stefan. I'm sure his answer differs from mine." Damon says indifferently, closing the dishwasher.
Elena watches him for a moment before walking to the kitchen island. Brushing her hair behind her ear, she starts folding the pile of cloths.
"I'd quit cheerleading if I was you." Damon recommends, sitting himself at the island and grabbing a cloth.
"Why do you say that?" Elena asks, focusing on folding.
"Oh, I saw you at cheerleading practice you looked miserable." Damon declares with a smirk, enjoying watching her squirm.
"You saw that? I figured you were too busy staring at Angelina." Elena states mischievously, glancing up to see Damon looking at her with wide eyes.
"Am I wrong?" Damon asks ignoring her last comment, it's nobodies business.
"I use to love it, it was fun. But things are different this year, everything that use to matter doesn't anymore." Elena explains with a sigh, brushing her hair behind her ear a nervous habit she's had since she was a child.
"So don't let it. Quit. Move on. Problem solved! Tada!" Damon shrugs with a light smirk, honestly humans make things so complicated.
"So things could matter again." Elena denies shaking her head, not wanting to let go of the things that made her... her.
"Maybe. But... it seems a little unrealistic to me." Damon shrugs unbothered.
"I'm sorry." Elena suddenly blurts out, "About Katherine. You lost her too." She elaborates seeing the lost look on Damon's face.
Damon looks at her in shock, nobodies ever seen it from his point of view before, it's always been poor Stefan. Maybe... just maybe... she might make a good friend after all.
"Hey. You need some help." Bonnie makes herself known, desperate to get out of the living room.
Elena lets out a light chuckle and waves the pile of cloths around.
"Sure, why not." Damon approves with a shrug, wondering if she would be able to answer his questions.
"Can I ask what... what did Caroline mean, about reds family?" Damon asks cautiously, as Bonnie helps fold.
"Well-" Elena starts ready to explain everything, only for Bonnie to interrupt.
"It's not our place to say." Bonnie tells him rudely, pointedly looking at Elena.
"Bonnie!" Elena protests, looking at her shocked.
"Of course, sorry I wasn't trying to be nosy." Damon apologises, his concern for his Angel growing.
"Just." Bonnie hesitates, running a hand through her hair
"All you need to know is that Angelina's had a really tough past." Bonnie finally says reluctantly.
Damon looks at her more confused than ever. What the hell happened to his feisty red?
—
"What the hell where you thinking letting him in the house?" Stefan hisses discreetly to Angelina as Caroline prattles on.
"Sorry." Stefan mumbles sheepishly, as Angelina raises an eyebrow at him.
"Relax, I have everything under control." Angelina smirks lightly and excuses herself as her phone rings.
"That's a really nice scarf" Stefan compliments Caroline with a small smile.
"Thank you, it's new." Caroline giggles, straightening the material.
"Can I see it? I mean would you mind taking it off?" Stefan ask, sliding along the sofa to be closer to where she sits in the armchair.
"Oh I can't." Caroline explains innocently with a smile.
"Why not? You okay?" Stefan prompts her, now fairly convinced that she's been compelled.
"Um... all I know is that I can't take it off." Caroline frowns, looking slightly confused.
"What are you two kids talking about? Where's red?" Damon asks loudly, walking into the room and perching on the arm of the chair.
"I was just commenting on her scarf." Stefan states, the accusation understood between the two brothers.
"Hm, hey Elena and Bonnie are just finishing off the dishes, why don't you see if you can help." Damon coaxes Caroline, wanting her out of the way.
"Does it look like I do dishes?" Caroline laughs, sending Stefan a smile,
"For me?" Damon mock implores, with a stiff smile.
"Mmm...I don't think so." Caroline admonishes with a smirk, who does he think she is?
"Go see if Elena needs help in the kitchen." Damon compels her, having run out of patience with the obnoxious girl.
"You know what? I'm going to go see if Elena needs help in the kitchen." Caroline announces with a smile, unaware of what just transpired.
"Great." Damon fake smiles, rolling his eyes as soon as she leaves and looking around for his Angel.
"They are people Damon! She's not a puppet, she doesn't exist for your amusement or for you to feed on whenever you want to." Stefan challenges, sick of his brothers twisted games.
"Sure she does, they all do. Their whatever I want them to be, their mine for the taking." Damon counters with a wide smirk, loving how riled up Stefan is getting.
"Right you've had your fun, you used Caroline, you got to meet Elena good for you. Now it's time for you to go." Stefan commands, looking at Damon beseechingly.
"That's not a problem, because I've been invited in. And I'll come back tomorrow night and the following night and I'll do... with your little cheerleader whatever I want to do." Damon boasts smugly, sliding into the armchair and placing a hand on Stefan's shoulder in mock assurance.
"Will you really?" Angelina asks cooly, leaning in the doorway.
"Yes, I will." Damon smirks, trying in vain to ignore how good she looks.
"No you're not Damon Joseph Salvatore." Angelina comments, Damon's eyes widen how the hell does she know his middle name he thinks to himself confused, trying to suppress the shiver his name on her lips causes.
"You are, also going to break up with Caroline and compel her to forget all about your vampirism and then you're going to leave her alone." Angelina adds thoughtfully, well aware of what he's been doing to her.
Damon gulps and tries to smirk confidently "and what are going to do about it if I don't sexy red?".
Angelina suddenly smirks and a ball of fire suddenly roars to life in the palm of her hand, the flames dancing between her fingers and casting shadows over her face.
"I've always wondered whether the age of the vampire effects how fast they burn."
—
Later that night Damon goes to climb through Elena's bedroom window only to find he can't enter.
"What the hell?" Damon mutters in confusion, trying again to enter.
"Why did I know I would find you here." Angelina amused voice pipes up.
"Why can't I get in Red?" Damon asks frustrated, quickly looking up too see her perched on the roof.
"I put wards around the house, any invite you or any other vampire except Stefan gets will be a one time thing. Each time you want to get in the house you will have to be invited." Angelina smirks lightly, "and they can't be compelled whilst in the house."
"Clever." Damon admits joining her on the roof and sitting next to her.
"I'd like to think so." Angelina smirks, slightly smug.
"How did you know I'd be here, Angel." Damon asks curiously, watching her from the corner of his eye.
"Because you love to toe the line." Angelina says dryly, raising an eyebrow at the new nickname before deciding to let it go.
They sit in silence for a moment, Damon discreetly admiring her beauty in the moonlight.
"What were you going to do?" Angelina asks mildly turning to him, already having a faint idea.
"Wouldn't you like to know." Damon smirks tauntingly, straightening his leather jacket.
Angelina just raises an eyebrow at him, throwing her scar in stark relief.
"I wasn't going to hurt her if that's what you're thinking." Damon finally confesses, for some reason unsettled at the thought of his Angel thinking that.
"I wasn't thinking that at all." Angelina tells him honestly, watching him start slightly in surprise.
"You weren't?" Damon asks in surprise, everyone always thinks the worst of him, except Stefan but he doesn't count.
"No Damon, I wasn't." Angelina smirks mischievously, "I was thinking you were going to make her dream about scandalous displays of desire."
Damon laughs with a smile, he can't remember the last time he laughed so genuinely. He doesn't know what this pull is... but maybe it's not so bad.
—
"You came?!" Matt exclaims in disbelief, watching Angelina walk towards him with Oscar in her arms.
"Hi Matt!" Oscar waves his hand frantically, Angelina catching his hand before it hits her in the face.
"Hey Oscar." Matt spares him a small confused smile.
"You said you had a game." Angelina shrugs nonchalantly, her lips twitching at Matts wide eyed expression.
"We came to see you play!" Oscar cheers, "I've been practising my shouting spesifally!" He adds, a serious look on his cute face.
"I didn't... nobodies ever..." Matt stutters, running a hand through his hair.
"Well now they do." Angelina smiles slightly, an understanding look on her face.
Matt gives a blinding smile when his instinctive search for pity comes up empty. He knows he should know better by now, Angelina hasn't ever shown him pity. In her words pity is pointless.
Before Matt can thank her, a commotion to their left catches their attention. Pushing through the crowd they see Vicki standing to the side shouting at the two figures on the floor. Jeremy quickly gaining the upper hand, pinning Tyler to the ground, and continuously punching him in the face a furious expression on his face.
Everyone crowds around and indistinguishable shouting fills the air.
"Jeremy enough!" Angelina shouts her voice cutting cleanly through the noise, causing all to go quite.
Jeremys head snaps up from where he's straddling a pinned down Tyler, his eyes locking onto Angelina.
"He's down, you made you're point. Get up and walk it off." Angelina commands sternly, watching as Stefan goes forward and helps Jeremy to his feet.
Jeremy nods to Stefan and turns to walk away. Tyler quickly scrabbles to his feet, broken beer bottle in hand and with a yell aims for Jeremys head.
"JEREMY!" Elena yells in a panic, quickly trying to push through the crowd.
Stefan's eyes widen as he quickly pulls Jeremy to the side, raising his hand and feeling the glass slash across it.
Everybody freezes in shock.
Angelina pulls Matt back and dumps Oscar into his arms before striding towards Tyler, a deadly look on her face, as he starts to scramble backwards fearfully, the crowd to taking a few steps back cautiously.
Angelina grabs Tyler's arm firmly and in one smooth motion twists it behind his back, causing him to cry out in pain.
"You alright Remy, Stef?" Angelina asks cooly, as she nonchalantly holds a struggling Tyler in place.
"I'm feeling great." Jeremy smirks, watching Tyler's face redden in embarrassment at being restrained by a woman.
"I'm fine." Stefan nods, startling slightly as his hidden bloody hand suddenly becomes clean of blood.
"Matt can you watch Oscar for me?" Angelina asks mildly, watching from the corner of her eye as Tyler shakes his head frantically.
"Sure." Matt nods, holding Oscar in his arms and watching as Angelina twists Tyler's arm further causing him to still.
"You and I are going to have a long talk." Angelina tells Tyler coldly, dragging him away as he struggles fruitlessly.
"My momma's gonna kick his butt!" Oscar states cheekily into the silence, giggling as he watches her drag him away.
Several people laugh hearing his statement and the crowd disperses.
Matt chuckles as Oscar starts cheering at an approaching Jeremy for 'kicking that meanies butt'.
—
Damon wanders around in search of entertainment whilst trying to avoid Caroline. He wants to go find his Angel, but he doesn't want to interrupt her punishing the Lockwood boy.
Just as he's about to give up waiting and go find her, he sees Elena alone by her car. Watching Elena slam her car boot closed he speeds behind her, revelling in the startled gasp she gave out as she turned around to see him.
"You scared me, what... what are you doing here?" Elena pants, holding a hand to her chest.
"I'm hiding from Caroline." Damon whispers, looking over his shoulder cautiously.
"And why is that?" Elena whispers back confused.
"Well, we broke up and she's obsessed with getting me back." Damon sighs, pursing his lips slightly. If it wouldn't be noticeable he'd have compelled her to stop.
"Why did you break up?" Elena asks, eyeing him warily.
"She talks more than I can listen." Damon jokes with a smirk, "and she's a little too young for my tastes." He adds seeing the unimpressed look on her face.
"That's it?" Elena asks in disbelief, whilst she wants Angelina and Damon to get together, Caroline is still her friend.
"I don't see it going anywhere, it was more of a fling. She'd drive me crazy in the long run." Damon tells her, enjoying the way her metaphorical hackles raised at his words.
"Caroline does have some really annoying traits, but we've been friends since the first grade and that means something to me." Elena states firmly, a scowl upon her face.
"I apologise, I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable." Damon apologises, yet mischief shines in his eyes.
"Yes you did." Elena says narrowing her eyes, as she catches the slight smirk on his face
"You're right." Damon shrugs, "To mess with you, is to mess with Stefan."
"And what about Angelina?" Elena asks abruptly.
"What about her?" Damon tilts his head, confused at the subject change.
"Oh please a blind person could see the sexual tension between you two and don't think I didn't see you look at her. She's the reason you broke up with Caroline isn't she!" Elena accuses, not sure whether to be delighted or furious.
"Are you jealous?" Damon teases, amused that she's so close to the truth.
"I'm surprised you're not with her" Elena sighs, deciding it's not worth getting angry about.
"I figured i wouldn't interrupt her." Damon smirks, gleefully wondering what she was doing to Lockwood.
"I saw her just a second ago." Elena tells him confused, pointing back to the school.
"Excuse me." Damon walks away in search of Angelina without waiting for a reply.
—
"No excuse." Matt states shaking his head as he holds his hand out to Stefan.
"Good luck tonight." Matt says, shaking Stefan's hand when he clasps it. "We're lucky to have you." He adds, before walking away.
Stefan watches him go, before freezing as he hears a slow clap start behind him.
"Isn't that nice, Stefan joins a team and makes a friend." Damon leans on the wall within the shadows, only his silhouette to be seen. He'd been looking for Sexy Red but when he heard the absolutely heart warming bonding going on he couldn't pass up the opportunity presented to him.
"It's all so, Rah! Rah! Go team! Yeah!" He chants mockingly, raising a fist into the air.
"Not tonight, I'm done with you." Stefan sighs exhausted, turning away only to start as Damon appears in front of him.
"Come now don't you want to talk to your brother? Tell me about your day?" Damon asks mockingly.
Stefan goes to say something, but stops when he sees Tanner approaching.
"SALVATORE!" Tanner yells, "What the hell we got a game to play!" He rants unaware of the danger.
Damon smirks darkly a growl ripping out of his throat, he'd been waiting for this opportunity since the pest asked HIS Angel on a date.
"Damon no!" Stefan exclaims, spinning around just in time to see Damon sink his teeth into tanners neck.
Angelina strides around the corner and throws her hand up, making Damon fly off of Tanner and into the wall.
"Really?" She sighs exasperated lowering her glowing hand, and placing it on her hip snuffing the light out.
"Did you have to throw me?" Damon grumbles, getting to his feet with a slight pout.
"Be thankful I didn't ruin you're jacket." Angelina quips with a smirk. Looking at Tanner who lay bleeding out on the floor, Angelina rolls her eyes.
"Damon sort this out. Stefan get back out there." Angelina demands calmly, "Without killing or turning him." She adds, seeing Damon's face light up with a wicked smirk.
Damon's face falls into a pout "I wasn't going to turn him." He grouses, crossing his arms.
"He's doesn't want the eternal competition." Stefan snarks with a scowl, feeling Damon's glare at his back as he walks away from the tempting blood.
With a sigh Damon crouches down by Tanners, who lays whimpering feebly on the floor. Grabbing his face he forces him to look at him. "You came to search for some of your players, you didn't see anyone back here. The last thing you remember is an animal attacking you from behind." Damon suddenly smirks smugly, "And the experience has terrified you so much you've decided you're going to move away from Mystic Falls and never return." Finished compelling him, Damon roughly let's go of Tanner who immediately falls unconscious.
"What?" Damon widens his eyes mock innocently at the eyebrow Angelina raises.
"Really?" She asks dryly, rolling her eyes.
"Being attacked is very traumatic for a coward!" Damon declares holding a mocking hand to his chest, "You could do much better."
"And I suppose you have a recommendation." Angelina states dryly, cocking her hip.
Damon just smirks, lazily trailing his eyes over her fine form, ignoring for the moment the child on her hip.
"So what did you do with that Lockwood boy?" Damon questions nonchalantly, hiding his eagerness. It was incredibly sexy to watch.
"That's for me to know and you to, dot, dot, dot." Angelina smirks mischievously, turning and walking off.
Damon laughs and falls into step with her as they walk away.
"I'm guessing that's Oscar?" Damon asks, looking at the blonde little boy fast asleep in her arms.
"No, it's a different little boy that I've kidnapped." Angelina drawls sarcastically, shifting Oscar more securely in her arms.
"He's cute, must take after you." Damon wink, watching as she shakes her head with a suppressed smile.
"Did you just use my kid to flirt with me? Poorly may I add." Angelina laughs slightly, raising an eyebrow at him.
"That depends, is it working?" Damon smirks roguishly, brushing up against her as they walk.
Damon spotting a lone student, speeds over and grabs her. Quickly covering her mouth Damon locks onto her eyes, "You were just heading to the back of the school because you wanted some quite and you didn't see anybody on your way there." He compels her, watching as her eyes dilate and she walks away.
Angelina seeing what he's doing, opens her truck and straps Oscar into his seat, before sliding into the front and closing the door.
As she sees Damon approach, she rolls down her window with a sigh and starts the engine.
"So?" Damon rests his hands on the roof.
"What?" Angelina questions amused.
"Is it working?" Damon asks again with a sexy smirk.
Angelina gives him a light seductive smirk and slides on her sunglasses.
"Yes, your green eyed monster is very attractive." She drawls sarcastically and drives off.
—
Bonnie pulls into the track leading to Angelina house with her hands shaking and tears staining her cheeks. Pulling up to the house, she sees Angelina open the front door. Quickly clambering out of the car, Bonnie allows herself to fall into Angelina's waiting arms.
Bonnie follows numbly, as Angelina gently guides her into the house and seats her onto her favourite spot on the sofa.
"What wrong, bunny?" Angelina asks concerned, reverting back to using her childhood nickname.
Bonnies barricades shatters and she clings onto Angelina tightly as she sobs hysterically.
—-
"Thank you." Bonnie sniffles, cradling the herbal tea that Angelina pressed into her hands.
"What happened Bonnie?" Angelina asks, perching onto the sofa next to her.
"I think I'm going insane." Bonnie says, taking another sip of her tea.
"More than you already are?" Angelina teases gently, pulling a wet chuckle out of Bonnie.
"Weird things keep happening to me and whenever I ask grams she doesn't give me a straight answer! I know you know what going on, AJ. Please I need... I need answers." Bonnie pleads desperately, watching Angelina's face fall to her impassive mark.
"It's not really my place to bunny." Angelina pursing her lips, consideringly.
"Please AJ!" Bonnie begs, "I need... I need to know I'm not insane."
"You're not insane. None of what has happened to you is a part of your imagination and it is completely normal." Angelina reassures her, watching Bonnie practically melt in relief.
"Then what-?" Bonnie begins.
"I will tell you no more tonight." Angelina states firmly, holding up her hand when Bonnie goes to protest. "You are exhausted and there is lots to explain, I will tell you everything tomorrow."
"Alright." Bonnie sighs rising to her feet, "Night Angie." she kisses her on the check before making her way upstairs.
—
"How's Mr Tanner?" Angelina hears a feminine voice asks, as she makes her way to the council room.
"Still unconscious." A male voice replies.
"I'm surprised it left Mr Tanner alive." Angelina comments dryly, pushing open the double doors.
"How did you not know it was there?!" Mayor Lockwood rages, his anger getting the best of him as he strides up to her and gets in her face.
"Don't start with me Richard." Angelina warns him coldly, making the Mayor take a few hastily steps back, "I was busy dealing with your son."
"Don't try turn this around-!" Richard objects, only to be interrupted.
"He was harassing Vicki Donovan and he nearly smashed a bottle into Jeremys face! You get your son under control before I do!" Angelina tells him, her tone made of steel.
"He's just a boy!" Mr Lockwood excuses with a roll of his eyes.
"Being male is not an excuse." Angelina says firmly, staring him down until he looks away.
"Are we done here? I need to get back home." She turns away from the red mayor dismissively.
"We still haven't decided what we are going to do about the vampire?!" Carol Lockwood protests, knowing that they need her input.
"That could be because you've spent the entire time picking fights." Elizabeth points out dryly, "Angelina?"
"Right now? Nothing. It's most likely hunting away from where it lives, it'll be long gone by now." She shrugs before turning and walking out of the room.
Feeling no regret for the lies she just told.
