Sand Tomb
It was a sunny day, not a cloud was in the sky and birds were singing their morning chirps. In a abandoned two leg place, outside of the clans territory, two cats were unconscious and tied to a pole. On the left was a golden tom with white stripes, paws, belly, chest, and muzzle and on the right was a white and black she-cat with a black circle on her left eye. It was unclear on how long they were unconscious, but the room they were in had no doors, but there were air shafts and a window that was too tall for them to climb. The golden tom started to wake up, but his vision was blurry. After a few moments of regaining his vision, the tom looked around and was getting scared. Suddenly, he heard soft moans behind him.
"V-Violetshine?!" the tom called out.
"Tr-Tree?" she meowed softly.
Violetshine slowly opened her eyes and after a few moments, she was fully awake. She and Tree looked around, it was clear to them that they were in a dark room with sunlight shining through a high window and that they were tied to a pole. Violetshine looked around and wondered how they were going to get out of here. She struggled and bit through the rope, but the rope was too tight; in fact, it almost felt like Violetshine and Tree were getting a tight hug. Both cats tried to think; how did they end up here and why, but their memories were a bit fuzzy and some of them were a bit black.
"Violetshine, how did we get here?" Tree asked confused.
"I don't know, I can't remember, I can't remember anything!" Violetshine cried.
Suddenly, they heard shaking, and than they heard a voice.
"Tree and Violetshine, you two are codebreakers. As punishment for your crimes and existence, you both shall be executed by being buried alive, with sand." a voice announced.
Both cats recognized the voice; it was Bumblestripe, a Thunderclan warrior and Rootspring's killer. Ever since Rootspring and Bristlefrost's charred bodies were found on the border between Skyclan and Thunderclan, Tree and Violetshine have never been the same. Both cats became depressed and were desperately looking for answers. Violetshine would lay on her nest and cry and Tree would take long walks and try to summon Rootspring or Bristlefrost's ghost. The problem was that both ghosts were in Starclan and Tree couldn't summon cats from Starclan. Tree and Violetshine had their suspicions on Bumblestripe, especially when he smirked at the news that Rootspring and Bristlefrost's bodies were found charred and burned on the borders of Thunderclan and Skyclan, but they couldn't prove it. Once they figured it out and put the pieces together, both cats were enraged.
"BUMBLESTRIPE! I swear when I get my claws on you, I will...!" Tree yowled.
Suddenly, the air shafts made a unrecognizable sound and then, sand started pouring in fast. It first started just forming two large piles, but then it started pouring sand on top of them. There was a hidden air shaft above Tree and Violetshine and sand was pouring on them hard. Tree and Violetshine tried one last time to break out of the ropes, but their lower paws and the rope itself was already buried in the sand. It was pointless, the pouring sand was causing the rope to be impossible to break. Furthermore, the pressure from the mounts of sand kept the rope from moving anymore. After a while, sand from the two air shafts still continued to pour and the sand that poured from the hidden air shaft stopped. When the sand piles were high enough, the piles collapsed on top of Tree and Violetshine. The couple was smart to keep their mouths shut, they weren't going to end up like Mothwing and Puddleshine; having sand in their bodies that would suffocate them until their last breath. If any of them had anything to say to each other, then they would have to whisper it. Tree was the first to speak.
"Violetshine?" he whispered.
"Yes?" she replied.
"I just want you to know, I don't think we're going to make it out of here, so I want you to know, I love you." Tree whispered.
Violetshine choked, she knew very well that she was going to die, but she didn't want to die now. She had her sister, Twigbranch, her father, Hawkwing, and her daughter, Needleclaw. Violetshine couldn't bare the idea of Needleclaw being all alone, but she knew she wouldn't be alone; her grandfather would be there, along with her aunt, and she would have her clanmates to comfort her. Violetshine knew her daughter would be safe, but it wouldn't help that Bumblestripe and his friends were still out there. Violetshine shed a tear and lifted her head; she felt an uneasy peace, but accepted her fate.
"I love you too, Tree." She whispered.
Meanwhile
Bumblestripe's gang dumped the last bit of sand into the air shafts and laughed maniacally as they knew that Tree and Violetshine wouldn't survive. By now, Tree and Violetshine would be suffocating from the lack of oxygen and it was only a matter of time before they would loose air. Bumblestripe looked through the window and saw the sand filled room. He smiled, there were no survivors and his task was complete. This wouldn't be the last time he would do something like this, he had work to do, and it started with killing off known codebreakers.
