Summary:
Some Magic Knights play a friendly game of tag…
Chapter 6: Fun – Magna, Luck, Fragil, Finral
Luck had gotten bored about ten minutes into the party, so Magna had to come up with something so Luck didn't pick a fight with someone. Thankfully, their Aqua Deer friend Fragil had the suggestion of playing a game of tag. Magna thought it was a good idea and Luck seemed game for it, especially since it was something he could win. Magna managed to convince Finral to join the game, for the sole reason to make sure that Luck and Magna didn't go overboard. Magna knew that when it came to Luck, he got a bit excited.
Fragil asked Klaus, Sol, and Wainsley to join them. Then, Noelle's sister Nebra had asked what they were doing and Fragil had to explain to Nebra about the game tag. Luck goaded Nebra into joining the game too.
It all started out great. Klaus was "it" first. Eight adult Magic Knights ran around the Golden Dawn gardens and forest as if they were children again. Then again, none of them had ever really gotten to be children, except maybe Wainsley who had great tag skills and dodged Klaus with great skill.
Things began to devolve when Klaus tagged Nebra as "it." Nebra was very impatient and she was the first to use her Mist Magic to confuse the others.
"Oh, no," said Finral.
"Shit," said Magna.
"Oh? We can use magic in this game?! Awesome," said Luck, charging up Lightning Magic to run away.
Different magic spells began flying around the garden after that with Finral using his spatial magic to redirect stray attacks so it wouldn't hit the children or the other people actually eating and talking like you were supposed to at a normal tea party picnic. Thank goodness, Magna managed to convince Finral to join the game.
Nebra caught Sol and made Sol "it." Sol took no prisoners and tricked Magna into being tagged "it." Magna targeted Luck. Luck was too fast. Magna got a little competitive with Luck.
The game of tag descended into an all-out brawl between the seven Magic Knights with Finral attempting to make sure the damage was minimal.
Except fire and lightning were unpredictable. As was ice, snow, steel, earth, and mist.
Because not only were Magna and the others having this brawl, there were two Captain-level fights happening. Captain Mereoleona and Captain Fuegoleon were fighting with the Crimson Lions cheering both of them on, while Captain Yami and Captain Jack started a fight themselves. Captain Vengeance was in the middle of that too, trying to stop the destruction.
Things came to a head when Mereoleona, Fuegoleon, and Magna's fire magic let out some sparks on the trees and flowers, starting a fire. Wainsley's ice magic and Fragil's snow magic wasn't enough.
Thankfully, Noelle showed up and dumped gallons of water on the fire and the entire garden party.
Everyone at the party was drenched, from the Wizard King to the Captains to the children. Only Noelle and Kahono, who arrived moments later, were dry.
Magna, drenched with water, sunglasses missing, grimaced, as silence descended on the garden party.
This wasn't the worst thing to happen when the Magic Knights got together. At least, there was no enemy invasion while they were bickering with each other.
Luck stood next to Magna and grinned at him and Luck opened his mouth to say something but was interrupted by the Black Bull Vice-Captain screaming bloody murder.
"CHARMY, THAT'S MY HAND!" Nacht, who had been very cool and mysterious and kind of a jerk when Magna first met him, had a problem named Charmy. He had been put on Charmy duty. Charmy must have roped him into feeding her by being extremely lazy and pushy. No one could deny Charmy.
Rookie move, Magna grinned.
Charmy couldn't tell the difference sometimes between people and food. Charmy munched on Nacht's hand, who looked horrified as he tried to get her off of him, while his four devils laughed and laughed.
"Ooh, it was too soon to put Vice-Captain on Charmy duty," said Finral, sighing.
"No shit. Ya should've pawned her off on Zora. At least, Zora knows not to get close to her when she's eating," said Magna. Where did Zora run off to anyway? He'd have had a blast playing tag, though he'd win because of his Trap Magic.
Luck cackled. "That's so funny!"
"Shouldn't you help him," Fragil asked, concerned.
"I guess," said Finral, Magna, and Luck at the same time.
Fragil giggled. "I can make a snow-cone to bribe her?"
"Ooh, make me one too, Fragil," Luck asked.
"Okay, I just need some fruit for flavor," said Fragil, agreeing readily.
That's how Magna, Luck, Finral, and Fragil suddenly were in charge of an impromptu snow-cone stand. Fragil made the snow, Magna and Luck smashed the fruit from the table that had fruits, and Finral handed them out. Charmy thankfully saw the line of children eating snow-cones and released their poor Vice-Captain.
(There was another line in front of a very apologetic Fuegoleon, who was drying everyone's clothes.)
"Not a bad diversion," said Captain Vengeance, who was next in line after Captain Yami (who had whacked Finral, Luck, and Magna on the head for being stupid). "But you four will be helping fix the garden. Yami and Rill already agreed."
"Awww," said Luck.
"Well, that sucks," said Magna.
"Fair," said Finral.
"I don't mind helping," said Fragil.
Once everyone had snow-cones and were dry, the party continued. Kirsch cut the alcohol consumption off when Captain Dorothy began hiccuping in her sleep and producing random things from her Dream Magic. Captain Vangeance started mapping out changes to his garden. Magna brought over a blueberry snow-cone to their sullen Vice-Captain who was off in the corner by himself. "Here, Vice-Captain. Next time, don't get close to Charmy when she's eating."
"She's feral," said Vice-Captain Nacht, taking the blueberry snow-cone, almost gratefully.
"No, she's just hungry," said Magna.
Nacht paled and muttered, "They're all insane. Am I insane too? I must be."
Magna felt sort of bad for the guy. Nacht just wasn't used to being a Black Bulls yet. He'll get there.
"MAGNA, FRAGIL SAID SHE'LL THROW SNOWBALLS AT ME SO I CAN DOGE THEM," screamed Luck.
Magna groaned. "NOT WITHOUT ME."
"CAPTAIN RILL, MAKE FRAGIL STOP ENABLING MAGNA AND LUCK," screamed Marx Francois, off in the distance.
"WHY," Rill asked, oblivious.
"STOP SCREAMING," roared Mereoleona.
"I'm really glad I cut the alcohol," Kirsch muttered as Magna ran past him to get to where Luck and Fragil were ready to play another game.
This party wasn't half-bad if Magna said so himself.
