Part 6
It was a week later that Caitlin was having her morning coffee when a bunch of papers were placed in front of her. She looked up and saw Henry smiling at her.
"We are badly in need of some physicians assistants at the hospital. You need to fill those out and they will place you in the department that you most qualified to be in. They already have your employment record from the clinic in Hub City. I pulled some strings. Nora is more then happy to watch Crystal while you are at work if Barry is unable to." Said Henry
"No one there has met me or interviewed me. Why are they hiring me based on your word?" asked Caitlin
"It is not just based on my word. Your friends and Dr. Grant from the clinic sold you really well."
"I was under the impression that Dr. Grant didn't like me."
"He doesn't. From what I hear he doesn't like very many people. Do you know why he has been working at that clinic?"
"No."
"He was arrested for a DUI. He took a plea deal. Five years working at the clinic with no pay or lose his medical license. He took the five years at the clinic."
"That is not a surprise."
"So fill out the paperwork. You will just have to pass the drug test. Which I don't think will be a problem."
"No it won't. I mean I was on oxytocin after a car accident a few years ago. But I had a broken arm and three cracked ribs. But I never even finished the prescription."
"That is a good thing. Fill that stuff out and we can get things rolling. I know you want to get your own place. Barry is getting you a phone today. I know you can get your own. But talking with Eddie and Joe West we think this is the best way to keep your ex from tracing you."
"I get it. If I don't have a phone in my name then it will be harder to trace. After the way I left I can't thank you enough for all the help you are giving me."
"Caitlin, we understand why you left. You were hurt and angry. Iris for whatever reason set out to hurt you. Which she did. Caitlin, Nora and I love you. Not because you were Barry's girlfriend or are the mother of our granddaughter. It is because you are a kind and loving woman. No matter what happens with you and Barry you will always be family to us."
"Thank you."
"Now get to work on that paperwork."
Caitlin smiled and picked up a pen and began to fill out the forms.
Barry smiled as he watched Crystal eat her french toast. He had brought her to a little mom and pop diner that his parents use to bring him to as a kid. He had even brought Caitlin here a few times. He took a sip of his coffee. Crystal looked so much like her mom. Well she had green eyes like him. But other wise she was a mirror image of Caitlin.
"Hey Barry."
Barry looked up to see Iris's father Joe West coming over to him.
"Hey Joe."
"Who's kid is this?"
"Uh um mine. Caitlin was pregnant when she left. She came back a couple days ago. She ran from a bad relationship."
"Eddie filled me in on that. He didn't mention the kid."
"He knows about Crystal. Caitlin and I took Crystal to the park yesterday and Eddie was there with his family."
"Well maybe Eddie didn't think it was his place to bring up the kid. He only mentioned Caitlin's ex because he is a cop."
"I know. Caitlin only came back here because she knows there are people that will keep her safe. Plus to let Crystal and me get to know each other."
"Daddy, who is this?" asked Crystal
"This is Joe West he is a police man." Said Barry
Both Barry and Joe noticed the look of fear on Crystal's face. Joe knelt down so he could meet the young girl's eyes.
"Crystal, will you look at me please?" asked Joe
Crystal looked at Joe.
"Honey, I know the man that was hurting your mom was a police man. But not all police men are like that. I would never hurt you or your mom. I am not going to let anyone hurt your mom and get away with it." Said Joe
"You a good cop like Eddie?" asked Crystal
"Yes I am a good cop like Eddie."
"Ok."
"She is a little shy." Said Barry
"So she is a lot like her mom."
"Yeah she is."
"I should go. Tell Caitlin to come by the station. I will talk to Singh see if we can get an order of protection for Caitlin."
"Some how if he finds Cait, I don't think it will do much good. This guy used his position as a sergeant detective to keep the patrol officers from reporting him beating Cait."
"Well I happen to know if his captain had known it would not have been swept under the rug. His captain is Steven Singh our captain's brother."
Barry smiled knowing if Steven Singh was anything like David Singh then Richard Carson was going to be in big trouble.
Joe walked into CCPD he spotted Eddie and headed over to him.
"So what did you find out about Caitlin Snow's ex?"
"Well she isn't the first he has been suspected of beating. He grew up watching his old man beat not only on his mom but two sisters. He does a lot of undercover assignments. Mostly going after gun runners and mobsters. In the past six months the police were called to his address fifteen times. All from neighbors but all have been found to be nothing. Even though an ambulance was called twice. I need Caitlin to release her medical records to us to find out what kind of injuries she or Crystal might have from him."
"Well I just saw Barry and met that little angel. She looks just like her mother."
"She's sweet too. I mean once you get past her shyness."
"Well Caitlin was like that when she first moved to Central City after her dad died. Her brother was very over protective of her."
"Well the way she was bullied it was no surprise."
"Yeah and my own daughter was one of the biggest. I think we should go talk to the captain. See if we can have him talk to his brother about looking into this guy."
"Sounds good."
Joe and Eddie headed for Singh's office.
