Volume I: Doctor Octopus
Note: This will be the sixth chapter of Volume I, this will introduce Otto Octavius AKA Doctor Octopus as the first supervillain of Spider-Man, this will also mark Norman Osborn's first appearance. This will explore the romances with Gwen Stacy and Liz Allan, it will also include George Stacy's investigation of Spider-Man and Peter Parker.
Gwen was drowning in the water being tied up to a chair, she tries to get free but is unable to, she closes her eyes as she's running out of air and water filling her lungs.
She felt something on her lips as she then felt herself coming back to life as she woke up and sees Peter Parker in front of her.
Gwen woke up as it's morning already, she has the same dream again. She kept thinking about Peter Parker, her best friend, and she can't figure out why.
"Peter... why am I thinking about you?" Gwen wonders as she can't stop thinking about Peter.
To her, Peter Parker has always been her friend for a long time, but lately she can't get him out of her head, her heart starts beating when she thinks about him.
"Peter... could I be falling for you?" Gwen thinks that she has feelings for Peter.
The door knocked as her dad is outside.
"Gwen! Breakfast is ready!" George says outside the door.
"Okay, let me get cleaned up!" Gwen says to her dad.
(Later in the kitchen)
George and Gwen are already having breakfast as she hasn't had a single bite yet, like she's got other things on her mind.
"Gwennie?" George talks to Gwen.
"Huh? I'm sorry, I was distracted." Gwen looked at her dad.
"Are you okay? Seems like you got something on your mind?" George is curious.
"Not something... someone." Gwen corrects him.
"Who?" George ask her who it is.
"Peter Parker. I kept having dreams about him." Gwen says it to her dad.
"Oh! So... you and him..?" George thinks that she and Peter are an item.
Gwen blushed. "What? No! Of course not, he and I are friends."
"That's good, though you two have been friends for a long time, is there any chance that you're starting to see him as more than just a friend?" George wonders about Gwen's relationship with Peter.
"Do you think that's what's happening?" Gwen wonders what she's feeling.
"Gwen, you've grown into a young woman, it's natural that you're bound to be attracted to boys. Believe me, the last thing I want is for you to think about boys." George admits to Gwen.
"I didn't think that I would, but since that night where I nearly drowned the first thing I saw when I woke up was Peter's face, then next thing I know is that Spider-Man was there and he told me that it was a hallucination, my mind playing tricks on me." Gwen tells about that night.
"And the first thing you thought about was Peter?" George says to his daughter.
"I know, but when he came by the hospital after that incident, I felt safe with him for some reason. Do you think that I'm starting to falling for Peter?" Gwen wonders what she's feeling.
"From what I can tell, you and Peter have a lot in common, you're both very smart and share a passion for science. If anything, you two are a perfect match." George smiled.
"What if he doesn't feel that way for me? What he just sees me as a friend?" Gwen is worried.
"Gwennie, you need to work up the courage to confess your feeling for him. If he does feel the same for you, then you'll be happy and in love, if not then you'll find someone else." George gives advice to Gwen.
"Thank you dad, for the advice." Gwen smiled.
"Anything for you Gwennie." George smiled back.
Gwen checked the phone and sees the time, she needs to get going.
"I have to go, school will start soon." Gwen stands up.
"Okay, take care!" George reminded Gwen.
"Will do!" Gwen walks out the door.
George is left alone as he read the Daily Bugle, it's titled 'Spider-Man responsible for the death of Lonnie Lincoln', he knows what really happened that day, Lonnie tried to kill Spider-Man and Robbie but ended up falling in the vat. He sees a decent picture of Spider-Man taken by Peter Parker.
He remembered what his daughter told him about seeing Peter after she woke up breathing, she thought that it was a hallucination. He saw Peter again at the Bugle after Betty and Robbie were kidnapped by Lonnie Lincoln.
He then remembered the Ben Parker homicide that happened last month, a luchador in a red mask attacked Dennis Carradine in anger after he murdered Ben Parker.
He's starting to think that this luchador and Spider-Man are one and the same, the only person connecting these events is Peter Parker.
"Peter Parker, what's your connection to Spider-Man?" George ask himself that question.
Meanwhile In the city, at the company called Oscorp, a multibillion-dollar multinational corporation, the CEO of Oscorp Norman Osborn is walking down towards the lab to check up on the progress of a project that he invested in.
He enters the lab that Dr. Otto Octavius, a brilliant scientist is using for his research on fusion energy. Dr. Octavius is using a harness on his body that connects to his spine, the harness is equipped with four mechanical limbs each that has metal claws. He uses the device for safety when working on a prototype fusion reactor.
"Doctor Octavius, I expected some results!" Norman came into the lab.
"Oh! Mr. Osborn, as I said before it's not ready!" Octavius reminded Norman.
"You said that you were close?" Norman not looking too happy.
"I am close, you can't rush science, this is a delicate matter." Octavius says to Norman.
"I spent a lot of money because your research was supposed to bring Oscorp to the top and yet for the past year you've yielded no results. Do you remember that Stark Industries has a large power source in their lab in California? In other words, they have the advantage over us. If you can't get any results, then I'll pull the funding on this project." Norman Osborn stated.
"But... this was my life's dream, I just getting so close. I can't afford to make a mistake. I can finish this soon, I promise." Octavius pleaded with Norman to continue the project.
"You have one last chance! Don't disappoint me again! Is that understood?" Norman looking at Octavius with a look.
"Yes Mr. Osborn." Octavius replied.
"One chance!" Norman walks away from the lab.
Dr. Octavius doesn't want to take risk in science as this experiment was never done before and could come with unintended consequences. But he knows full well that Norman Osborn isn't known to bluff when it come to his word. If he can't complete this project, then Norman will pull all the funding needed and all of Octavius's hopes and dreams will be gone.
Meanwhile back in Midtown High as the science class lead by Raymond Warren is about to go on a field trip to Oscorp.
"Alright everyone, since all of you got permission slips, we'll be taking a tour to Oscorp Tower in the city, we'll pair each of you up with a partner, Harry Osborn and Mary Jane Watson, Flash Thompson and Liz Allan, Betty Brant and Glory Grant, Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy..." Raymond continues to pair up students.
Gwen couldn't believe that she's partners with Peter, even Peter is surprised too.
"Alright everyone on the bus and take your seats with your partner." Raymond Warren says before getting on the bus.
All the students in the science class are boarding into the bus.
(Sometime Later)
The bus is driving across the bridge leaving Queens and into Manhattan. Harry and Mary Jane are looking out the window. Harry is kinda nervous as he's sitting next to Mary Jane Watson, he always though of her as a friend, but he finds her attractive, everyone does but this felt different. Mary Jane looked back a Harry as he broke away his stare.
"Something on your mind?" Mary Jane ask Harry.
"Uh... no, nothing." Harry says nervously.
Mary Jane smiled as she didn't pry too much, she could tell that Harry has something or someone on his mind.
Flash and Liz are still remaining quiet as they're still not on good terms.
"Liz, come on, it's been more than a month, are you still going to give me the silent treatment?" Flash tries to talk with Liz.
"Look I'm glad that you've changed a bit and that you want to be a better person, but I think that you and I aren't good for one another." Liz says it to Flash.
"Liz... are you saying that you want to break up?" Flash is worried.
"I... I don't know... Maybe." Liz isn't sure about her relationship with Flash.
Liz isn't sure about what their relationship is, even though Flash has made some changes to himself recently, Liz did too.
Peter and Gwen are still sitting together as Gwen is looking at Peter and felt her heart beat, Peter looked at Gwen and she blushed a bit, turning her head away.
"Do you think that Mr. Warren paired us up on purpose?" Peter ask Gwen.
"What do you mean?" Gwen says nervously.
"Well we're both the smartest students in Midtown, do you think that we're a perfect match?" Peter ask for her opinion.
Gwen blushed a bit again. "Well... I think that we work well together, as a team, you know what I mean."
"Yeah, you and I are good together. I like having you in my life." Peter says to Gwen.
Gwen looked at Peter as he blushed a bit too.
"I mean... as a friend, you know what I mean, right?" Peter is bit red on the cheek.
"Yeah, I know what you mean." Gwen still blushed.
They looked away from one another as things got awkward. Peter couldn't believe that he's feeling something for Gwen, he looked a bit at her and noticed how beautiful she is, she like an angel. He sees her lips and remember that time he performed CPR to save her life. Whatever is happening to him is something he never felt before in his life.
Liz looked back at Peter and Gwen sitting together and couldn't help but feel something. She's never paid special attention to Peter in the past, but lately she began to see him differently.
Sometime later as the bus stopped in front of Oscorp Tower, everyone got off the bus and sticks with their partners.
"So this the big building your dad owns?" Flash looks up at the tower.
"Technically it's the company's, my dad is only the president of Oscorp." Harry corrects Flash.
"Alright everyone! Stick with partners and let's go inside." Raymond Warren tells the class.
Everyone got inside and see the lobby of Oscorp Industries, and they see the man himself Norman Osborn, Harry's father whom Harry is the spitting image of.
"Welcome everyone to Oscorp, my name is Norman Osborn, CEO of Oscorp. We at Oscorp are here to study about genetics and advanced technologies for the good of mankind. Everything we make here today is for a better tomorrow. I hope that you'll find Oscorp very interesting and enjoy the tour, thank you!" Norman Osborn says the class.
"Thank you Mr. Osborn, now shall we continue the tour?" Raymond Warren says to the class.
The class explores around Oscorp and sees the research the scientists are doing in the lab, and they explore the testing area where new technology is being developed. They all got to see the glider that flies around the room by the test pilot.
"Whoa, that is so cool!" Flash smiled as he sees the glider.
Everyone continues on with the tour as they stumbled upon the lab that does research in alternative energy. They see a man who got like tentacles with claws on him. This man turns around and sees the class.
"Oh! Welcome everyone, my name is Dr. Otto Octavius and I'm in charge of research on fusion energy." Octavius introduced himself to them.
Everyone is still staring at the device he's got on.
"What are those things you got on you?" Gwen ask Octavius.
"Oh these are my personal invention, a harness that links up to my nervous system which in turn allows me to control these tentacles and bend them to my will. With these I can operate from a distance more safely and without risks." Octavius explains his device to them.
They sees the tentacles moving around as Octavius himself are controlling them without difficulty.
"And now that you're all here, allow me to show off my latest invention, the crown jewel, a prototype fusion reactor." Octavius shows his new invention.
Everyone sees the fusion reactor that Octavius had invented though Peter and Gwen are surprised by how compact it is compared to other power sources.
"Are you sure that it's safe to work on such a device this small?" Peter is worried.
"I understand your concern young man, but I've worked on this for years and it's shown some promising results. This could revolutionize the world with clean energy. Allow me to demonstrate as you all get to witness history in the making." Octavius uses his tentacles to activate the device.
The device turns on as everyone gets to see the results of Octavius's work, the fusion reactor is working.
"Looks like we got a successful fusion reaction." Octavius smiled as his device is working.
Peter then got a spider sense alert as something is wrong, the screens are turning red as there is a malfunction with the reactor, everyone is starting to worry.
"Calm down everyone, I'm sure that it's just a glitch. We're working on stabilizing it." Octavius tries to calm them.
Peter quietly dragged Mary Jane and Gwen out of the lab as Harry sees Peter leaving, he decided to follow along with some classmates.
Peter and the others gotten far from the lab as the whole building is on alert.
"Mary Jane, get Gwen out of here!" Peter tells Mary Jane.
"Where are you going?" Gwen looking at Peter.
"I gotta make sure that everyone is away! Now go!" Peter runs back.
Mary Jane took Gwen out to safety as the other classmates are following after them. Peter found a restroom nearby as he enters and uses a bin to hold the door tight against the knob. Peter brought his backpack and pulls out his suit.
Norman Osborn passes through the crowd as he reached the lab and sees the reactor becoming unstable.
"What is going on Octavius?!" Norman demands answers.
"Not to worry about, I can fix this!" Octavius assured Norman.
"It'll blow up and take this building down with it, shut it down now!" Norman orders him.
"No! I can fix this!" Octavius refused his orders.
"I'm in charge here! I say shut it down now! That's an order!" Norman yells at Octavius.
Spider-Man appears at the lab as the situation is worsening.
"Spider-Man? What are you doing here?" Norman is surprised by his appearance.
"I just happened to be in the neighborhood, what's going on here?" Spider-Man ask Norman.
"The reactor is gonna go critical if we don't shut it down fast." Norman explained the situation.
"Okay, get to safety right now! I'll stop it, now go!" Spider-Man tells Norman to leave.
Norman leaves the lab as Spider-Man and Doctor Octavius are alone in the lab.
"What are you doing?" Octavius tells Spider-Man.
"I'm shutting it down!" Spider-Man gets closer.
"Noooo!!!" Octavius swings his arm and hits him.
Spider-Man got knocked back by the force of the tentacle. Doctor Octavius gets in closer to try to stabilize this device until electricity started to surge out of the reactor, his tentacle got caught up in the surge and shocks Octavius and his device. Spider-Man sees Doctor Octavius in pain from the shock.
He sees some wires plugged into the reactor as he gets in closer and pulls the wires hard. Doctor Octavius is still in pain from the shock as his device is heating up. Spider-Man pulled with every force he has, he pulled the wires off as the reactor is slowly losing power.
The electrical surge has stopped and Doctor Octavius is saved though he has taken too much damage and the harness on him is still in heat. The good news is that the danger is over and the reactor has been damaged beyond repair. Doctor Octavius is still too weak as his dream work has been destroyed by Spider-Man, he slowly closes his eyes and rest after the whole incident.
(Later Outside of Oscorp Tower)
Peter got all dressed up and sees that his classmates are safe and sound.
"Peter, thank god that you're alright! I got so worried!" Gwen runs up and hugs him.
"I'm okay Gwen, I promise." Peter hugs her back.
Everyone outside sees Doctor Octavius being wheeled out by paramedics as he suffered some damage to himself.
"What happened to him?" Flash wonders.
"I'd say that he became like Icarus, he flew too close to the sun." Peter says to everyone.
"Damn, that guy could've destroyed this building, hell he could've destroyed this city." Harry says it to everyone.
Everyone watched as an unconscious Doctor Octavius is being loaded onto an ambulance along with his tentacles. Peter was a bit scared himself that there could've been an explosion and that he could've died. He's feeling a bit better thanks to Gwen in his arms.
As nighttime came, Doctor Octavius slowly woke up and finds him in a hospital bed and the tentacle hanging up.
"Where am I?" Octavius is confused.
"Ah Doctor Octavius, I'm glad that your alive."
"What happened?" Octavius ask the doctor.
"You were in an accident, the paramedics found you unconscious in the lab. Lucky you were still alive."
"That's good to know." Octavius felt a bit relieved until he sees the Doctor's expression. "What wrong Doctor?"
"I have some bad news... because of the shock you went through the device heated up the metal and wiring to your spine... I'm afraid that there's not we can do."
"What are you talking about? What wrong with me?" Octavius is getting worried.
"The harness and the wiring are fused into your spine, I'm sorry."
Octavius couldn't believe that he's now stuck with his device for the rest of his life. He began to break down and cried in pain. He lost everything today, his dreams and his old life.
At the Parker Residence, Peter and Mary Jane are both shocked by the day they had. Peter has other things on his mind than Doctor Octavius or the reactor.
"What a day, we were so close to getting blown up." Mary Jane is still shaken.
"Yeah." Peter replied back.
"Tiger, are you alright? You look like you got something on your mind than just Dr. Octavius." Mary Jane could see Peter got something else on his mind.
"Sorry, it's... it's about Gwen." Peter says to Mary Jane.
"Oh! What about her?" Mary Jane ask about Gwen.
"To be honest, I don't know. But lately I've kept having her in my mind and I don't know what I'm feeling for Gwen." Peter admits to Mary Jane.
"Do you... have feelings for Gwen?" Mary Jane wonders about his feelings.
"Honestly... yes. I don't know why I'm feeling them right now." Peter is confused about his feelings.
"Peter... when Gwen was drowning and dying before your eyes, how did you feel?" Mary Jane is curious.
"It felt like someone I lo- care for was being taken away from me and I was scared of losing her." Peter described his feelings.
"And after you saved her?" Mary Jane ask again.
"I was relieved that she was alive. Since that night, I've been having feelings inside me that I never thought was possible." Peter says it to Mary Jane.
"You know what that's called? It's called love." Mary Jane smiles and tells it to Peter.
"Is it that obvious?" Peter wonders about his feelings.
"It is, I think that when Gwen was dying, it felt like a part of you was dying with her, those feelings you had bottled up inside bursted out. To be honest Tiger, I think that deep down you've always felt something strong for Gwen." Mary Jane tells Peter.
Peter couldn't believe what he's feeling for Gwen, he remembered the time at the Stark Expo that Uncle Ben told him to have fun on his date. Ben must've seen something between him and Gwen that neither of them yet see. He always seen Gwen as a friend but lately he's beginning to see her differently than before, as a woman.
At the hospital in the city, Dr. Octavius dressed in a hospital gown, got up and looked himself in the mirror, he sees his own creation is now a part of him for life.
"Osborn, you did this to me. You couldn't be patient with my work and threaten to take it from me. I sacrificed everything for you, and now look at me." Octavius is angry as he says to the mirror.
Octavius moves his tentacles around to see that he still has control over them and that they work properly.
"You will pay for this if it's the last thing I ever do, I swear it." Octavius vows revenge against Norman Osborn.
He looks around the hospital rooms and found a coat with round sunglasses in one of the rooms. He puts them on and walks out.
The doctors and nurses sees him walking out against doctors advice. A security guard came in holding a gun.
"Hey you! Stop right there!"
One of the tentacles disarmed the gun off his hand and picked the guard up with ease, everyone got frightened by his appearance.
"I'm checking out!" Octavius then tossed the guard across the hall.
He just tossed the man like a rag doll, everyone is too frightened to stop him as he continues to walk away from the hospital, he burst out the doors and everyone around it ran away in fear.
In the morning at the 13th precinct, George Stacy is looking at the footages from the UCWF match between Crusher Hogan and the luchador that calls himself Hombre Arana that happened last month on the same day that Dennis Carradine robbed the arena and Ben Parker got murdered.
He watches the footage and noticed the movement in the way this luchador took down a wrestling champion. He then switches to the the footages of Spider-Man fighting off the robbers from the jewelry store days ago. The moves are a bit different but there are certain similarities to Spider-Man and Hombre Arana.
The door opened as Yuri Watanabe enters to see George Stacy busy on the computer.
"Sorry to interrupt Captain, didn't know that you were busy on the computer." Yuri sees him looking at the computer.
"Don't worry, I'm just looking over something related to a case I'm working on." George looked at Yuri.
"What case?" Yuri wonders.
"Nothing important for now. You wanted to speak with me." George wants to know why she's here.
"Yes, last night Dr. Otto Octavius checked himself out of the hospital against doctors advice, he tossed a security guard across the hall and burst out of the hospital." Yuri explained about last night.
"Wait, he just tossed a grown man like that?" George Stacy is confused.
"See for yourself." Yuri hands the tablet of the footage from last night surveillance.
George sees the footage of Dr. Octavius tossing the man across the hall with his tentacles like a rag doll.
"Things were already weirder with Spider-Man around, now we got man with mechanical arms melded onto his body. What's next, androids, aliens, and wizards?" George Stacy says to Yuri.
"The media is already calling him Doctor Octopus." Yuri says to George.
"And now he's got a nickname too, wonderful. Put out an APB on Doctor Octopus and let's find him before anymore people get hurt." George stands up and grabs his gun.
"Yes Captain." Yuri follows George out the office.
It's PE time outside the school as everyone is running around the field for a jog with their workout clothes on. Peter is running slow as to not attract too much attention to himself.
"Come on Parker, keep up with the rest of the guys!" Coach Wilson tells Peter.
"Okay, I'm going!" Peter kept on running.
"Seriously Tiger, you run faster than anyone here." Mary Jane jogs next to him.
"I'm just trying to keep a low profile, don't want anyone to put two and two together. So this is the best I can do as Peter Parker." Peter kept jogging.
Liz is jogging as she sees Peter and Mary Jane jogging together too closely, she began to have that feeling again. She kept jogging until she tripped and twisted her ankle, everyone stopped to see Liz in pain.
"Liz, are you alright?" Sally got worried.
"Yeah, but I think that my ankle is sprained." Liz holding her ankle.
"Fine, someone get Ms. Allan to the nurses office." Coach Wilson looking for a volunteer.
"I can take her." Flash volunteered.
"Thank you Flash but no!" Liz refused Flash's help.
"Come on Liz, this is not the time for this!" Flash is debating Liz.
"Fine, someone else help her out!" Coach Wilson say to the class.
"I'll go, I can take her." Peter volunteers to help.
"Ms. Allan?" Coach Wilson looked at Liz for her answer.
"Okay, he can take me." Liz accepts Peter's help.
"Fine, everyone else keep jogging!" Coach Wilson tells the rest of the class.
Peter walks over and helps Liz on her feet, she felt the pain from her ankle.
"Oww!" Liz says in pain.
"You okay?" Peter says concerned.
"Yeah, but it hurts when I stand." Liz described her pain.
Peter then picked Liz up in his arms and carried her, much to Liz's surprise.
"You mind if I carry you?" Peter carrying Liz.
"Not at all. You're quite strong." Liz blushed a bit.
Peter carries Liz away as Flash sees them and doesn't feel jealous or anything. Gwen on the other hand sees Peter carrying Liz out and can't help but feel a little jealous.
(At the nurse's office)
Peter enters carrying Liz and sees that the nurse isn't here yet.
"The nurse isn't here." Peter says to Liz in his arms.
"Apparently, I think that you can put me down now." Liz still being carried.
"Oh, right!" Peter laid her onto the cot.
Liz could still feel the pain on her ankle, Peter then rubs her ankle to help with the pain.
"What are you doing?" Liz is confused.
"Massaging your ankle, trying to relax the muscles." Peter kept massaging her.
"Where did you learn to do that?" Liz is curious.
"I was in the boy scouts during my preteen years, got a merit badge in first aid." Peter explained to Liz.
"You were in the boy scouts?" Liz got curious again.
"Made it to Eagle at 13. Surprise to think that these skills would come in handy for something like this." Peter kept massaging her ankle.
"It's working, the pain is swelling a bit, thanks." Liz smiled at Peter.
"You're welcome... so what's going on with you and Flash?" Peter got curious.
"That obvious?" Liz wasn't expecting that question.
"Pretty much." Peter says to Liz.
"Well... you remember that day in Rockaway Beach?" Liz tells Peter.
"Yeah, me and Flash got into a scuffle that day." Peter remembered that day.
"Flash thought that you and me were flirting, didn't like that." Liz explained to Peter.
"I'm sorry Liz, I never meant to come between you and Flash." Peter apologize to Liz.
"It wasn't your fault, I told Flash that you we just helping me out and he didn't believe me, he started to insult me and I slapped him." Liz told Peter.
"You slapped Flash?" Peter is surprised.
"Yeah, after that I walked away and he tries to apologize, but I wouldn't listen to him. So we became distant that day, still are." Liz tells Peter.
"Didn't you think about patching things up with Flash?" Peter wonders.
"Are you really defending him after all those times he bullied you?" Liz is surprised by his words.
"I'm not gonna say that Flash is a saint, because he isn't." Peter says to Liz.
"But?" Liz wonders what he'll say.
"But he still can change himself, look at me, more than a month ago I was just a weak nerd wearing glasses avoiding socializing with a popular crowd, now I ended up doing things I never thought I would do, gotten a bit stronger and started to dress casually. Liz, don't throw away what you two had, because you might not get the chance to fix your relationship." Peter says to Liz.
"Are you saying that I should give Flash another chance?" Liz ask Peter.
"I can't tell you what you want, only you can decide for yourself." Peter gives his advice.
"Thank you Petey, is it alright I call you that?" Liz smiled at Peter.
"Yeah, it's fine." Peter smiled back.
The nurse came into the room.
"What brings you two here?"
"Her, she's got a sprained ankle that needs to be treated, I did my part in massaging it." Peter explained to the nurse.
"Thank you Mr. Parker, looks like you took great care of her. I can take it from here."
"Sure, get well Liz." Peter says to Liz as he left.
Liz is glad that Peter helped her out, in the past they've been distant because of her popularity as the head cheerleader but lately she began to see him differently and feel something for him that she can't yet described.
Doctor Octavius returned back to his home alone as he looks at the achievements and awards he earned through his hard work, remembering the man he use to be. He then picked up today paper from the Daily Bugle titled 'Doctor Octopus breaks out of hospital'.
"So they now call me Doctor Octopus? So be it, I'm no longer that same man who wanted to change the world through science, now I'm a man who will get vengeance on everyone who's every wronged me, starting with Norman Osborn." Doctor Octavius calls himself Doctor Octopus.
Doctor Octopus then walks out of the apartment as he walks outside to find police waiting for him.
"Dr. Otto Octavius! We have warrant for your arrest! Put your hands up in the air!"
"Fine!" Doctor Octopus smiles as he comply.
He raised all his hands up, including his claws that he uses to strike back at the cops, they all got caught as he then tossed them around.
"You said hands up!" Doctor Octopus looked at the defeated cops. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have some business to conclude with Norman Osborn."
Doctor Octopus leaves the area as the injured cops over heard him going after Norman Osborn.
The bell rang as school ended, all the students are exiting the building. Harry and Peter are walking out talking.
"So how did things go with Liz?" Harry is curious.
"Nothing, I just helped her out and carried her, then we just talked, that's all." Peter explained to Harry.
"Haven't you noticed that Liz Allan, one of the most popular girls in school who is the head cheerleader that didn't paid as much attention to us geeks since Freshman year now is suddenly nice to you?" Harry telling Peter.
"Yeah, I've noticed." Peter says to Harry.
"Isn't it obvious Peter?" Harry looking at Peter.
"What? Tell me?" Peter waiting for Harry's answer.
"She likes you." Harry smiles at Peter.
"What? No way Harry, come on!" Peter smiled until he got curious. "Does she?"
"Come on Pete, you finally ditched the glasses and gained some muscle on your arms. I'd say that you're now good looking that girls will want to date you, including Liz." Harry tells Peter.
"Do you think so?" Peter asking his opinion.
"Of course, you're very smart and you gotten close to girls like Mary Jane, Gwen, and Liz, you're pretty much like Tony Stark." Harry tells Peter.
"Except that I'm not rich and that Tony lived in Malibu." Peter tells Harry.
"My point is Peter, you spent most of your life not dating girls, it's time that you finally step out of your shell. Girls like Liz Allan don't come around to guys like you more often. As your best friend, you need to take a chance, if not then you'll back to this moment and realize that you've regretted not taking it." Harry gives his advice to Peter.
A limo pulled by the house as the window rolled down and Norman Osborn is waiting.
"Harry, time to go!" Norman calling from the limo.
"Sorry, Daddy Warbucks is here." Harry jokes.
"No problem Richie Rich. See ya tomorrow." Peter jokes as he says his goodbyes.
Harry runs up and enters the limo.
"Typical of Harry Osborn to leave school grounds in a limo." Mary Jane says behind Peter.
Peter turns around and sees Mary Jane and Gwen Stacy walking out.
"Maybe Mr. Osborn got worried for Harry ever since that incident weeks ago, not to mention what almost happened at Oscorp." Peter tells Gwen and Mary Jane.
"Almost every parent is, my dad in particular." Gwen sees a unmarked car parked nearby.
George Stacy came out and walked to see Gwen with Peter and Mary Jane.
"Dad, you didn't have to come to pick me up." Gwen smiled at her dad.
"Sorry Gwennie, being a dad means I'm always worried about my daughter." George tells Gwen.
"Of course." Gwen understands him:
George phone rang as he answered it. "This is Captain Stacy here." He listens to the phone. "What? When?" They were listening. "Damn it, send all the unit in Queens and Manhattan to find him immediately." He hangs up.
"Everything okay Captain Stacy?" Peter got curious about that phone call.
"No, the units that went to arrest Dr. Octavius have been taken down, no one died luckily, but one of them overheard him talking about going after Norman Osborn." George says to Peter.
"Norman Osborn? He was just here minutes ago picking up Harry, he's probably crossing the bridge as we speak." Peter tells George.
"Okay, thank you for the tip, I should get going. Gwen, get home as soon as possible." George tells Peter and Gwen.
"Will do." Gwen replied to her dad.
George then runs to his car and activate his sirens. Peter is getting worried about Dr. Octavius going after Norman Osborn, his son Harry is with him, they're both in danger.
"I should get going, work stuff." Peter runs away.
"Sure! Be careful!" Mary Jane stayed with Gwen.
Peter runs away from the school and found a place nearby to change into his suit
At the Queensboro bridge that connects Queens to Manhattan, there is a lot of traffic going on as the limo is stuck in the middle.
"What is taking so long with the bridge?" Norman is getting impatient.
They then see a lot of people getting out of car in front of them and running back out of the bridge in fear.
"What the hell is going on here?" Norman is confused.
Norman and Harry then looked front as they sees something flipping the cars over with much strength as possible.
They see Doctor Octavius here outside the limo with his tentacles armed and ready.
"Osborn!" Doctor Octopus yelled out.
Norman and Harry gotten out of the limo as they look at Doctor Octavius angry.
"Dr. Octavius? What is the meaning of this?" Norman demanded of Octavius.
"Dr. Octavius is gone thanks to you. I am Doctor Octopus!" Doctor Octopus calls himself.
"What is it you want?" Norman wants an answer.
Doctor Octopus uses his tentacles to quickly grabbed Norman's son Harry and pulls him.
"No! Harry!" Norman screamed for his son.
"So the great Norman Osborn has a weak spot after all." Doctor Octopus holds Harry in the clutches of his tentacles.
"Don't hurt him, he has nothing to do with this!" Norman pleaded with Octavius.
"Wrong, he has everything to do with this! Because of you, I'm like this!" Doctor Octopus says in anger.
"I told you to shut it down and you didn't listen!" Norman tells it to Octavius.
"I risked everything for you, I told you that there were risks and I needed more time but you didn't listen and threaten to take away my life's work. Because of you I'm now stuck like this forever! You took everything from me and now I'll do the same to you by taking what matters to you most, your son." Doctor Octopus then squeezes Harry.
"Dad!" Harry is getting squeezed.
"Harry! No!" Norman yelled out for his son.
A web was shot to Doctor Octopus's face and blinded him. Spider-Man jumped down and kicked him in the face, the tentacle gotten loose as Harry slips out and Spider-Man caught him. He swings Harry to Norman for safety.
"Son!" Norman felt relieved.
"Dad!" Harry hugged his father.
"You two, get to safety! I'll deal with him." Spider-Man tells them to leave the area.
Harry and Norman took his advice and left to safety. Doctor Octopus uses his claws to remove the webbing off his face and sees Spider-Man here in person.
"Eh! What's up Doc?" Spider-Man does a Bug Bunny quote.
"You! I was wondering when I was going to see you again. I still have a score to settle with you." Doctor Octopus is glad that Spider-Man is here.
"Me? What did I do besides saving your life?" Spider-Man is confused.
"You destroyed my life's work, it'll take me years to start over from scratch. You'll pay for that!" Doctor Octopus wants revenge on Spider-Man.
Doctor Octopus then unleashes a fury of his tentacles to attack Spider-Man. Spidey moves and flip across some cars to avoid the incoming attacks. He's having a hard time fighting back until he shot out a web and Doctor Octopus uses his tentacles to protect himself.
"Damn, talk about all hands." Spider-Man jokes during battle.
Doctor Octopus unleashed another attack at Spider-Man but he kept missing as Spider-Man is fast and agile. He picked up and empty cab then tossed it at Spider-Man but he caught it with his strength.
"You're late to jail, here! Take a cab!" Spider-Man tossed the cab.
Doctor Octopus uses the tentacles to form a defense but the impact was too strong and knocked him back hard. He then moved the cab off with his tentacles and gotten freed from the wreckage.
"Why do you defend Norman Osborn so much? He has a lot to answer for!" Doctor Octopus says to Spider-Man.
"Because what you're doing is wrong and it won't make you feel better. This won't bring back your life! We can find a way to help you with your condition." Spider-Man offers to help.
"I use to think that this was a curse but now I see that I've been freed to embrace my true destiny as a villain with you as my archenemy." Doctor Octopus refused his help.
"Fine, then I'll have to stop you here and now." Spider-Man won't stop fighting.
Spider-Man charges in and fires off a volley of webbing at him but the tentacles kept protecting him. He slides under Doctor Octopus and got behind him, he jumped and gotten onto his back.
"Get off me!" Doctor Octopus struggles to get Spider-Man off him.
Spider-Man is too close for his tentacles to strike, Spidey sees someone on the back of the harness besides the tentacles, it's gotta be the power source.
"Hmm, I wonder what will happen if I do this!" Spider-Man grabbed the power pack.
"Don't you..." Doctor Octopus tells him not to do it.
Spider-Man pulled the power pack off the harness as the tentacles started to shut down. Doctor Octopus has been disarmed off his most powerful weapons.
"You'll pay for this! I swear it Spider-Man!" Doctor Octopus yells.
Spider-Man punched him in the face and knocking him out cold.
"Not today Doc Ock!" Spider-Man looks at a defeated Doctor Octopus.
He then sees the police cars and choppers coming in to take Doctor Octopus. He swings to the spot on the bridge where the camera he placed earlier before the fight. He took it off the web and sees the pics of the fight.
"Hopefully this will turn things around with JJ." Spider-Man says to himself.
The next day, Peter is at home reading the Daily Bugle titled 'Spider-Man and Doctor Octopus wreak havoc on the bridge.'
"You got to be kidding me? After all the risk I've done to save lives I get crucified on the front page." Peter is disappointed.
"Hey, look at it this way, no one got hurt and you got paid for the photos of the events, I'd say that's a big win in my book." Mary Jane tries to lighten him up.
"Yeah, you're right. Thanks MJ, I don't know what I'd do without you." Peter smiled at Mary Jane.
"By the way, have you seen Gwen lately?" Mary Jane ask Peter.
"No, why?" Peter why she's asking about Gwen.
"Yesterday she saw you and Liz together and it might have affected her feelings about you." Mary Jane tells it to Peter.
"I didn't know that, I was just helping Liz out, that's all." Peter assured Mary Jane.
"Then tell it to Gwen, because she's our friend and she doesn't deserve to be hurt by something like this." Mary Jane tells Peter.
"MJ, I'd never hurt Gwen, you know that." Peter tells it to Mary Jane.
"Not intentionally, but please be careful of what you do with your actions, because sometimes the people closest to you get hurt because of them whether you like it or not." Mary Jane gives her advice.
"I know, hiding this from everyone I care about, it hurts me as much it hurts them." Peter admits his pain.
At the Thompson residence, the doorbell rang as 12 year old Jessie Thompson is running to the door and opens it, she sees Liz Allan at the door.
"Liz?" Jessie is surprised to see Liz again.
"Hi Jessie, is your brother here?" Liz ask Jessie.
"Sure, Flash! Your girlfriend is here!" Jessie calls her brother Flash.
Flash went downstairs to see Liz Allan outside the door.
"Jess, why don't you leave me and Liz alone to talk?" Flash asking his sister for some privacy.
"Sure, please be nice to Liz, brother." Jessie walks away.
"Love you too sis." Flash says to Jesse then he turns to Liz. "Want to talk outside?"
"Yeah." Liz is still outside.
Flash walks out and closes the door behind him.
"Too be honest Liz, I wasn't expecting you to see me again." Flash is still surprised by her appearance.
"Neither did I, but I don't want to cause some friction between us. I know that you wanted to apologize to me last month and I wouldn't listen to you. That's on me and I'm sorry for pushing you away." Liz apologize to Flash.
"Liz... you had every right not to talk to me because of the way I treated you, treated everyone. I want to apologize too for what I said, I'm sorry Liz." Flash apologized back to Liz.
"I forgive you Flash." Liz accepts his apology.
"Thank you, and there's something else I need to talk to you about." Flash still wants to talk some more.
"Flash, you don't have to do this." Liz says to Flash.
"But I want to... Liz... I think that it's time that we break up." Flash wants to break up with Liz.
"Breaking up? Why? It's it because of Peter?" Liz can't believe what she's hearing.
"No, it's about us, you were right, you and I aren't good for one another. I know that I've changed so much but so have you. Your feelings for me aren't the same anymore. I think that it's better that we end this relationship so that we can move on." Flash speaks with honesty.
"Are you sure about this? About what you're saying?" Liz ask his opinion.
"I'm sure, you need this too, you need to figure out who you want to be with." Flash says to Liz.
"I guess this is it then." Liz says to Flash.
"It is, this needs to end." Flash says to Liz.
"It already has." Liz said what she needed to say.
As of this moment Flash Thompson and Liz Allan are no longer a couple, they go their separate ways.
Peter is outside the Stacy Residence as he rang the doorbell. George Stacy opened it.
"Peter? What brings you by?" George is curious.
"I was wondering if Gwen is here?" Peter wonders about Gwen.
Gwen came by downstairs as she's surprised to see Peter here.
"Peter, what are you doing here?" Gwen wonders.
"I... I was wondering if... you want to go out somewhere?" Peter says nervously.
"Like... a date?" Gwen is curious.
"Yeah... a date... as friends." Peter says to Gwen.
"I... I'd like that." Gwen smiled and blushed a bit.
"Great!" Peter blushed a bit.
"Great!" Gwen still blushes a bit.
"Okay, you two have fun and please be careful." George says to Gwen and Peter.
"We always do, promise." Gwen walks down and leaves the house.
"Shall we?" Peter waiting for her answer.
"After you." Gwen smiled at Peter.
Peter and Gwen are heading out on a date as friends for now. George smiled as he can't believe that his little girl is in love.
He closed the door and went back to the table to work on a personal case he's investigating. He looked at the surveillance footage from Oscorp the day of the accident. He's looking for something out of the regular, until he sees Peter running back to the lab.
He switches to another footage from another camera and sees that later Spider-Man appears minutes after Peter disappeared.
He looked at today's paper about Spider-Man and Doctor Octopus wrecking havoc on the bridge, the photo of the incident was taken by Peter Parker himself.
"Peter Parker, what is your connection to Spider-Man?" George is asking that question again.
He remembered what Gwen told him about seeing a glimpse of Peter's face after breathing, she told him that it was a hallucination, but he's starting to think that it wasn't.
He remembered a case of Ben Parker's homicide about Hombre Arana wanting revenge against Dennis Carradine for Ben's murder.
Peter was there when George got the call about Doctor Octopus going after Norman Osborn. Later Spider-Man shows up around the time that photos of the events happened.
He put the pieces together and finally figured out the connection.
"Oh my god... it can't be?" George is shocked to find out the truth.
Peter Parker and Spider-Man are one and the same. His daughter's best friend is the hero known as Spider-Man.
