The next day at school soon came and everybody met up, except for Elyse who went home early, though she might come back later. Who could say, really?

"So far, so good." remarked LJ as they came inside.

"Feeling any better, Kim?" Kimberly asked.

"A little bit, I guess." Kim replied.

Just then, an announcement came over the speakers: "Remember, students, no staff play," said Mr. Barkin. "Regardless of how easy Athena made it look in the online video I've seen nine times... Today."

"Now he's the principal?" Jenny asked with disbelief.

"Apparently so..." Martin sighed.

Nearby, Bonnie was busy gushing over Athena. "You're the BEST," she complimented. "Your moves are great, your style is flawless, and that HAIR? Pfft, perfect lip shade, perfect outfit, and those boots are everything."

Ron turned to Kim and shrugged.

"Bonnie, you're seriously so nice," smiled Athena as she sat at the table with Kim, Ron, and the others. "Hey, guys."

"Hey, Athena." Ron gave a small smile back as he tried to feed Rufus who looked shy from the high school environment.

"Bye, girl," Bonnie told Athena. "I'll see you after school."

"Yep." Athena beamed from that.

"Uh... After school?" Kimberly asked.

"Oh, yeah. Bonnie really wants me to try out for soccer," Athena explained with a smile. "Which is weird because I know they don't take freshmen, but she just laughed and said not to worry."

LJ snorted. "Sounds to me like she's just kissin' yer butt to get in good with ya after you got famous online." he replied.

Raúl suddenly realized something. "Hey, wait a second... I watched the video, and I didn't see Turbo Tigre in there! He did help to save you!" he replied.

"Oh... I wonder how that happened?" Athena replied bashfully.

"Well, T.T. and I are pretty tight, like Prince Adam and He-Man," replied Raúl. "I let him know you were in a bit of a scrape, so he dropped by to help out!"

Jenny hid a small chuckle from the Prince Adam and He-Man comparison.

"Oh, I was wondering what happened to you," Athena replied. "Some people seem to suddenly disappear whenever a hero drops in to help out."

"Yeah, life's pretty funny like that." Kimberly remarked.

"Well, they have to go let the hero know what's going down, right?" Raúl replied. "Other than that, they have to get to safety so that they don't get hurt in the crossfire."

"That makes a bit of sense," Athena smiled before hugging him. "I appreciate you looking out for me."

Raul's eyes widened from the hug before he smiled a bit loopily with a loving look on his face.

Later that day, Kim was scrubbing out the soles of the soccer team's shoes using a toothbrush. One of the team members tossed a sweaty towel at her as she ran by.

As that happened, Bonnie presented Athena with her own soccer uniform. "Welcome to the Mad Dogs~" she smiled. "You're number 18!"

Athena let out a little squeal of joy as she accepted the jersey. "Thanks so much!" she exclaimed.

Kim glared as yet another sweat-covered towel hit her in the face.

The other soccer players clapped and cheered for their newest member. "Athena! Athena! Athena! Athena!" they chanted.

"Well, at least she's having a better time in school." Jenny shrugged sheepishly.

"Hmph." Kim pouted out of slight jealousy.

The other players tossed out their towels at Kim on their way to Athena.

"I'm sure she won't forget about her real friends though, like us, you, or Ron." Kimberly told Kim.

"Hmph... Easy for you to say maybe." Kim sighed.

Later at Bueno Nacho, Kim came with the others, only to see Ron and Athena, hanging out and laughing. Kim glowered, then just turned and left. The copy of the Middleton Student Journal that she picked up didn't help much either; apparently, Athena had been elected Student of the Month.

"Jeez..." LJ muttered. "It's like she just can't win."

"Athena has just been Senorita Popular lately..." Kimberly said with narrowed eyes as she seemed to look annoyed herself, which was quite rare for anyone to see.

"Mm-hmm..." The Mazinsky twins had to agree.

"I will admit that it's kind of crazy how she could be so popular in such a short amount of time..." Raúl confessed.

"Yeah, not even 15 minutes of fame could get you that far." Martin shrugged.

Kim soon stormed off to go to a house after school as she looked like she had a dark cloud hanging over her head.

"This isn't your house." Jenny said.

"I know," Kim replied. "I have to talk with someone."

The group watched as Kim went up the steps and knocked.

A red-haired woman with glasses came to the door. "Kimberly Anne!" she exclaimed. "And I see you brought friends!"

"Hey, Nana." Kim replied.

"So that's her grandmother in this universe..." LJ remarked.

"Well, she still seems cool," Jenny replied. "Kinda like mine and Marty's grandmother."

"On our mother's side because our mother's parents are alive in this universe." Martin added.

"Weird thing to say..." Kimberly said to him.

"Yeah... It was almost like I had no choice, but to establish that." Martin replied.

"Mostly cuz the people reading this didn't know that," added LJ. "Helps establish previously unknown facts without making people look stupid."

"Please, come on in, all of you." Nana smiled.

Kim gave a small smile as they came into the house that felt cozy and warm.

"Lucky you, I made a batch of brownies this morning," Nana smiled at her granddaughter as she carried a plate. "Double chocolate chocolate chip with pecans on top."

"No thanks, I'm good." Kim said softly.

"You're turning down double chocolate?" Nana asked with concern.

"But we'll dispose of those for ya." Jenny grinned hopefully.

Kim shrugged. "Sure... I don't care..."

Nana took off her glasses. "...Feel up for a-"

"A work-out?" Kim finished.

Nana reached over to the piano and played four familiar notes. Suddenly, the bookshelf gave way to reveal a martial arts dojo.

"So, Nana... I was wondering today if you could teach me to fight with a bo-staff?" Kim asked.

The others just looked amazed to see what Kim's nana kept with her.

"Looks like Kung-Fu Panda back there." Jenny said to the others who nodded in agreement from that.

Nana tossed a staff to Kim as she twirled her own.

"Oh, this is gonna be good," Raul said with a chuckle. "Almost like my Great-Grandpapi."

"I guess we'll just see for ourselves." replied LJ as he and the others sat nearby, and Martin and Jenny ate the brownies.

"Don't bogart the brownies, Bro." Jenny said.

"No, you." Martin replied.

Raul rolled his eyes a bit from his cousins. The others continued to watch Kim and her Nana spar. Raul looked the most invested in what was going on.

"Bojutsu began in the early 17th century in Japan." Nana educated as they started.

"Uh-huh." Kim replied.

"Great, I'm learning." Jenny muttered.

"Aw, don't be like that." Kimberly told her.

"Yeah," LJ agreed. "At least it's about something cool."

"But it seems to me... Not much call for a Bo Staff today," Nana soon continued as she kept sparring with Kim while she talked wisely. "Bit of an antique," she continued as she tried to strike Kim, only to be blocked twice. "And it takes one to know one."

"She's got the moves." Jenny said.

"Yeah, I guess Kim had to get them from somewhere." Martin added.

"That new girl, on the internet," said Nana, as she blocked Kim again. "She had a bo, didn't she?"

"Yeah, she kicked Shego's butt." replied Kim.

The fight grew a bit more intense as it seemed to be more fiery as it was fueled by Kim's anger and jealousy.

Nana held out her staff in front of Kim, but of course, didn't hurt her. "You've done that plenty of times yourself, without a Bo." she then said.

"I thought I'd try something new." Kim replied sharply.

Nana then knocked the bo from Kim's grasp. "If that's the reason..." she replied, before tripping Kim up and making her fall over. "Something's off."

Kim groaned. "It's me. I'm off."

Nana helped her up. "Why?" she asked.

"Because I walked into high school and it's like... I stopped being good at things!" Kim replied as she walked to the side. "Even worse, Athena had ONE good fight, and it's like she's amazing at everything."

"Well, she's your friend, right?" asked Nana.

"...Yeah." Kim said.

"Then you should be happy for her!" Nana replied. "After all, you guided her, now she's having success, all thanks to you!"

Kim still looked upset despite her grandmother's advice.

"What is it, baby?" Nana asked softly from that.

"I've never met someone who's better than me, and I know how stupid that sounds, but it's like, whatever I have that makes me me, she has more of it." Kim said with a broken voice.

"Jealousy is very unbecoming, Kimberly Anne." Nana lightly tutted.

"I'm not jealous, Nana," Kim sulked. "Seriously, I'm glad she's finding her way. It's more about me. I-If I'm not the best at those things, then who am I?"

"That's just the thing," Nana replied. "Even if you're not 'the best' at... What have you. You're still you."

"Nana, I'm Kim Possible, okay?" Kim cried out. "I'm a star student and I save the world. That's who I am."

"No, that's what you do," Nana shook her head as the others sat in silence. "That's not who you are."

"Well, then... Then I don't know who I am." Kim said from that.

"Oh, Kim..." Jenny pouted as this looked so sad.

Kim soon welled up into tears and ran off as she was unable to keep it together.

"Aw, jeez," LJ sighed. "If Kim wasn't down in the dumps before, then this proves it. If only there was something we could do to help..."

"Yeah..." The others agreed.

"What could we do though?" Martin asked. "Maybe Nana should bake another treat."

"I'm not sure if my baking can help my little Kimberly Anne," Nana replied softly. "Not even my famous lemon squares."

LJ glared. "This isn't the time for stuffing your faces, you two. This is serious!" he told the twins.

"Sorry, LJ." The twins replied bashfully.

"Excuse us, ma'am, but we should get going," Kimberly said to Nana. "Thanks for letting us come over too."

"Anytime, dears," Nana replied. "Any friends of Kimberly Anne's are honorary grandchildren of mine."

The group waved as they left Nana Possible's house and headed for home.

"And so, I return to my previous question: how can we get Kim to snap out of this funk that she's in?" LJ asked.

"Maybe some movies?" Kimberly suggested.

"A novel idea," replied LJ. "I suppose we could invite her for a movie night sometime," he jotted it down. "Anyone else?"

"Uh... Let her take a look at your adventure scrapbook like your mom used to have?" Raul shrugged.

"...Probably," LJ replied. "I'll consider it."

"Well, if I have a bad day, I like to get some milkshakes and play video games, but then again, that might be just me." Jenny then suggested.

"Milkshakes sound pretty good right now." Martin chuckled.

Kimberly rolled her eyes a bit, but milkshakes could probably help out.

"Alright, we'll get milkshakes, then head back to the house," replied LJ. "Maybe we'll think of something by tomorrow."

"Maybe tomorrow Athena will be yesterday's news?" Kimberly shrugged.

LJ sighed. "Personally, I hope so..." he replied. "Having an adventure with the Transformers sounds pretty cool right about now..."

The others gave small smiles from that as they came back to the Possible household.

Unfortunately, by the next day, Athena was not yesterday's news.

"Attention, students, during last period today," announced Mr. Barkin. "We'll be holding an all-school assembly to honor our star student, Athena, with the first ever Most Promising Freshman of the Year Award."

Kim felt sick to her stomach, and it didn't get any better: by later, she was surfing the web when she saw an article on 'WASHED-UP HEROES: WHERE ARE THEY NOW?', with her own picture on the top of the page.

"Wow... That's a punch to the gut if ever I've seen one." Jenny flinched with slight disgust as she sunk in her temporary school desk.

"Oh, no doubt." Martin agreed as Kim got up and walked out. Clearly she'd had more than enough of "the great Athena" for a lifetime.

The twins looked at Kim's test paper before flinching as she had received the dreaded grade of failure.

"Kim, school's not over yet." Ron said as he spotted his best friend as he tried to follow after her.

"I'm ditching," Kim sulked as she stormed off. "I can't even get good grades anymore. Everything's changed."

"Things really have gone off the rails..." Raúl sighed as he and the others followed behind.

"Look, I'm not gonna lie, it's been a rough few weeks, but, you're still my best friend, and pals support pals," Ron advised to Kim. "Always."

"I think I know where you're going with this." Kim sighed a bit from that.

"Athena's our pal, too," Ron smiled comfortingly. "We helped her when she was down in the dumps, and our help paid off. She's amazing now, so we should be there to cheer her on."

Kim stopped to think about what was just said to her before she spoke up again. "So, we're going to this assembly?"

"Yeah, we owe it to her." Ron smiled.

Kim let out a small sigh before smiling back weakly. "Fine."

"Boo-yah!" Ron beamed from that before they decided to go back to school.

LJ looked into his bag, full of action figures. He cradled it tightly before heading back into the auditorium.

"All right, attention students, settle," announced Mr. Barkin. "In the short time that she's been at this high school, she's earned a 5.5 GPA, is a rising star on the soccer team, and has already been voted homecoming queen and king."

"Okay, now I know this is too good to be true," noted Raul. "I mean, I love her, but I'm not blind."

"And as Sonic once said, if it's too good to be true, then it's probably false." LJ added.

The other students cheered happily for Athena's biggest accomplishments.

"Also, I thought GPA's went up to 4.0." Kimberly added.

"It is my great pleasure to introduce your most promising freshman of the year: Athena!" Mr. Barkin actually smiled as he presented Athena as she sat, very proud of herself.

"With no last name given." Jenny mumbled to herself.

"Now that I think about it, that's very suspicious." LJ replied, rubbing his chin in contemplation.

Kim tried her best to clap, though with her fair share of mild jealousy.

"Uh... Why is there an ominous green circle being cut in the ceiling?" asked Ron, pointing upward... To a green circle being cut in the ceiling.

"Drakken and Shego..." LJ glared. "Alright, team: time to put up or shut up. Remember your Kids Next Door training!"

"Right!" The group replied like field operatives at work.

"I'll give 'em a shot of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet!" Kimberly said a bit sharply.

The ceiling soon cut fully into a circle and crashed onto the floor as the students panicked from the bad guys. Shego then shot down as her glowing hands worked like jet engines as she came in for a landing.

"Everyone, remain calm and walk to the exits in an orderly fash-" Mr. Barkin told the students.

Shego soon shot at him, though he missed so it hit the wall and popped a couple of balloons.

"And I'm out." Mr. Barkin then said as he took that time to flee like a coward.

Raúl rolled his eyes. "Dependable as always..." he muttered as he turned into Turbo Tigre.

A tractor beam was seen, as Drakken floated down like a feather. "Good afternoon, students," he proclaimed. "Don't be alarmed... We're only here to kidnap Athena!"

"...What?" asked Athena, looking nervous.

"Ron, grapple me!" Kim told her friend.

Ron soon gave Kim her grappling hook while the other students looked on with terror.

"...Before she becomes so powerful, she wipes out evil as we know it." Drakken continued.

"Let's go." Shego glowered at Athena.

"What? No!" Athena cried out. "Guys, help!"

Kim soon swung in with her grappling hook as she kicked down Shego in the process.

"Cowabunga." LJ wheezed.

"...HENCHMEN, ATTACK!" Drakken ordered.

"Hench-WOMAN!" Shego corrected as she got to her feet, and 10 females in black ninja garb came out.

"...Ah." Drakken replied with a nod.

"Ninjas... It's always ninjas..." Jenny collected.

And so, the ninjas attacked Kim and the others.

"Okay, guys, just think of the training against those Teen Ninjas!" LJ advised.

"Easy enough to remember," remarked Martin. "LET'S CARNIVIZE 'EM!" he and Jenny shouted in unison.

"How about you take a SEAT?!" LJ asked as he threw a couple of chairs, hitting two of the ninjas head-on.

Kim grabbed a book as she kicked some ninjas at her way while Ron watched happily with the other students. Soon, the teen grabbed the book to hold as a shield at first before she swung the ninjas away with it to divert them.

"Not fair, that's dirty," Drakken pouted like a child from where he watched. "Dirty fighting."

"Ladies, please escort Cinderella to her pumpkin." Shego said as she filed her nails in the background.

Athena bonked the two ninjas together, and then made a run for it. Shego followed behind, not really taking this seriously. Athena stopped inches from the tractor beam, and turned to see Shego, who had just ignited her energy.

"Guys, help!" Athena called to the group, being surrounded by ninjas.

Kim glanced to her left and saw an unattended mop, which she picked up and spun around, breaking off the mop part and leaving only the handle.

"Throw it to me, I can do my killer move!" Athena called out to Kim from that.

"Oh, now she wants to be independent." Jenny muttered to herself.

Kim held onto the mop handle as she had a lot on her mind now.

"Remember what your nana told you." Martin advised to Kim.

"Throw it, Kim!" Ron called out urgently.

"Come on!" Athena added.

Kim glared as she began to spin the mop handle, then jammed it down, and prepared to do the move herself... And then... IT happened. The handle fell over, and as Kim flipped into the air, she landed right on her face. EVERYONE winced audibly at that.

"Ooh, face-plant!" Drakken mocked.

Shego just laughed her ass off at this, and soon some of the others students joined in... Except Ron. He just winced some more.

"PLEASE tell me someone got that fail on video!" Shego cackled, as several kids were indeed filming the incident as it happened.

Kim looked all around as her reputation was slowly being destroyed. Shego soon grabbed onto Athena to pull her into the tractor beam to escape with her and Drakken.

"I'm sure you're wondering what's next," Drakken smirked as it was time to go. "Well, it's my most diabolical plan yet."

"Shut it!" Shego glared at him. "What have I told you about overshare?"

"Oh, right," Drakken said sheepishly before giving everybody the "Peace" symbol as they left. "Bye-ee!"

"Help! Please! Anyone?!" Athena called out as she was carried off, while Drakken laughed evilly.

Kim and the others ran outside, only to see Drakken and Shego's ship flying off into the distance.

"Well... This utterly bites." Raúl sighed, changing back and flopping down on his haunches.

"I guess at least we got to kick some butt." Jenny shrugged in a near Buttercup fashion.

"Yeah, that was pretty neat." LJ replied with a small smile.

"But at what cost?" Raul cried as Athena was being taken away. "At what. Cost?!"

"Don't worry," replied LJ. "We'll get her back too."

Kim soon ran out of the school as Athena was being whisked away just like that.

Mr. Barkin and the other students soon rushed out beside Kim as he shook his head. "Possible, I was up all night making that banner." he then told her in dismissal before he walked off.

"Way to prioritize..." LJ remarked sarcastically. "A student just got kidnapped!"

"Useless adults are useless." Jenny muttered sharply.

"Alright, we might as well get to work," replied LJ. "After all, we are the useful ones."

Kim breathed a bit heavily.

"She's not looking so good though." Kimberly said as she looked to Kim.

"I blew it, guys," Kim frowned sadly. "This was all my fault."

"Oh, come on," Ron said as he came to soothe his best friend. "It's... Well, yeah. It's your fault."

"Nice work, Stoppable." Jenny deadpanned.

"What? I'm not gonna lie to her to raise her self-confidence," replied Ron. "Even I have my limits."

"What was I thinking?" Kim sulked to herself. "I should have just given her the Bo Staff."

"Why didn't you give Athena the Bo Staff?" Ron asked.

"Because I needed to be the person who saves the day." Kim replied.

"How'd that go?" Ron rhetorically asked.

"Oh, real, real not great." Kim pouted.

"Yeah, we saw," replied Raúl. "You let Athena get captured because you couldn't stand being second-best even once. Might as well fix your mess."

"You're right, Raul..." Kim sighed. "I just... I can't believe how mixed up I've been, like... Just because I'm not the best at something doesn't mean I'm not me."

"Atta girl," replied Raúl. "Admitting you screwed up is Step 1 of fixing it."

Kim wiped her eyes a bit. "Yeah, I guess..." she said with a sigh.

"So, what do you suggest we do now?" Kimberly prompted.

"We're gonna go save our friend." Kim soon said as she stood up with determination.

"That's the spirit!" LJ replied with a smile. "Let's go kick some villain skidplate!"

"Skidplate...?" Kimberly asked with a scratch to her head.

"Cybertronian speak for 'butt'," replied LJ. "Other terms include actuator, afterburner, hard drive, among others."

"Oh! Right! Of course." Kimberly replied.

"You up for this?" Ron asked Kim.

"Let's go!" Kim replied as she took his hand.

They soon ran off together to go and help out Athena. After making a stop and gearing up, they headed to Drakken's lair to stop his sinister scheme.
