Alright! Well, I know it's been awhile, but here is the next installment to this collection of one shots. The song this one shot is based off of is by someone that I have already featured in one of my chappies. Let's see if anyone can guess this one?

I actually started this one long before the last one I posted but couldn't get my thoughts down on paper or document, I should say. I kept changing it but in the end decided to go kind of simple. So here it is!

Oh, and Happy Easter! (Late I know)...

"It is with great pleasure that I introduce to you, for the first time anywhere, Mr. and Mrs. Scott, everyone! Make some noise for the newlyweds."

Everyone in the reception hall glanced to the double doors that they had all entered or exited at one point or another during the night. They waited with bated breath as the doors eventually opened and in walked the bride and groom.

Like most bride and grooms, they were smiling. The looks on their faces telling everyone in the vicinity, that they were so glad the day had finally come. The day they were joined as husband and wife. They waltzed through the room swinging their entwined hands between them. He raised a hand and waved to the crowd. She stopped them now and then to give a hug to a special friend.

At one point, he looked down at her and the look he gave her made the guests clap with glee. She glanced up at his face with such love in her eyes. Anyone looking could feel the passionate love between the two.

He led her to the dance floor in the middle of the reception space as the emcee spoke into the microphone again. "Now it's time for the couple's first dance as husband and wife. Help me in welcoming the band back to the stage. Yah!"

As the band members made their way to their waiting instruments with great applause, the newlyweds had made it to their destination. The first few notes of the song echoed from the guitar and the groom took his lovely bride in his arms.

When the first few words rang out in the room, Nathan knew he had picked the right song. The words just captured perfectly everything that he was thinking, all of the wonderful feelings that he had all bottled up inside of him. He wasn't that great with expressing his feelings and chose the perfect song to show them to his new wife.

He even knew the band, this particular band, had been a good idea. He had heard this band play this same song once, back when he and Haley were just friends. He remembered that day like it was yesterday.

...

Nathan Scott made his way into the club just as the band was setting up. Good he wasn't late. He had heard good things about this particular band from his brother's girlfriend, Peyton. He and his group of friends were just trying to find something different and fun to do on this particular Saturday night during break and a concert seemed like it fit the bill, even if it was at their usual spot.

He made his way to the bar to grab a drink. While the bartender went about getting said drink, he looked around the club searching out his friends. He spotted Brooke first. She was always the easiest to spot, the most vivacious and lively of the group. She was the literal life of the party and had the personality to fit.

Next to her was her ever-present younger sister, Haley James. On the more quiet side than Brooke, she had the girl next door look. He had met Haley on a group hangout his first week of college, sophomore year. She was a freshman. She was more reserved than most girls, but she was also smarter than many of them, guys too. He doesn't think he's met anyone who was as smart as her. She was like a genius and a pretty one at that. She had big brown eyes in a heart shape face framed by honey brown locks. What made her beautiful though, was her big heart and kind personality.

She was always helping someone in some way. She offered her time to tutor students that were failing and needed the help. She helped him with his schoolwork from time to time, as well. There was truly no one like her.

Haley and he had became fast friends, even with their conflicting personalities. She was caring and completely selfless. She almost always had a smile on her face and looked at the world through rose-colored glasses. Not that she was naive to the world's problems but she chose to look on the bright side of every situation. She was also beyond patient. Their homework sessions together could attest to that.

While not on the complete opposite end as her, he was more of a glass half-empty kind of person. He was conceited and arrogant at times, sometimes selfish. He wanted what he wanted and he usually got it. He had been the King of the basketball court in high school and that had helped to solidify his popular status then as well as now. He also played for the university. He was a starter when he had been a freshman, that's how good he was. And he knew it.

The coach had passed most of the upper classmen to play him. It had certainly paid off for the team because they had not only made the final four during March Madness but they had gone on to play for the championship. They had lost by a hair. It was quite the feat though, they hadn't made it that far in years.

You could say the girls had flocked to him after that, not that they hadn't before. He was after all, not hard on the eyes. It was hard to find a decent girl though, that didn't just want him for his popularity.

He just knew Haley wasn't like that at all. And that is why he had feelings for her. Not just because of that though. There were a million other reasons that he had grown to like her, or maybe even more than that.

Not that he would ever admit to that, not in a million years. Sometimes though, he dreamed of doing just that. One day he would be hanging out with the gang or just her, and he would think about voicing what was on his mind and that night he would have a dream of what might happen. It happened quite a bit to him. He couldn't even count how many times it had happened.

He never would go through with it, though.

He was roused out of his thoughts of the caramel-haired beauty when the bartender set his drink in front of him. With a nod towards the man behind the counter, he turned once again towards the dance floor to make his way to his friends.

It didn't take him long, even though the place was pretty crowded. While he had been occupied with his thoughts, the girls had made their way off of the dance floor and were now seated at a booth with the usual suspects. His brother gave him the nod as he slid into the empty spot next to Haley. She turned towards the him, feeling a dip as he sat down.

"Hey Nate." she commented, bringing attention to his presence. She bumped his shoulder with hers and raised her glass in toast. Nathan followed the movement of her hand as she brought it to her lips to take a sip of the dark-colored wine.

'I love how she does that.' He thought.

A minute later he shook the forbidden thought from his mind, reasoning with himself. 'Where the heck did that come from? I shouldn't be thinking this. But look at her. She's so hot. Wait, stop Nathan. Stupid... Stop thinking with the wrong head. She is your friend and a really good one at that. Do not ruin your friendship with her because you think you might like her.'

He stopped the thought as soon as it had entered his mind. He couldn't like her like her, could he? No, he was just getting confused wasn't he. Wasn't he?

Just then a figure walked out on stage to introduce the band. A skinny blonde stepped up to the microphone. It was none other than his brother's girlfriend Peyton Sawyer. She was the music director at the club that the group most frequented. One of her duties was finding and promoting the bands that would play there.

"Hey Durham, let's give the band a warm Carolina welcome. Without further ado, The Boyce Avenue Trio." The room erupted with applause as the three band members took their spots behind their respective instruments. A few minutes later, sound check was complete and the band started to play.

A few minutes later Haley spoke up. "Peyton did a good job with this one." She practically had to yell directly in his ear.

Nathan had to agree. They sure were something. He had to give it up to Peyton for her connections and great ear for talent. He was so glad his brother had found a girl like the curly haired blonde, who was walking over to their booth at that moment.

"Hey guys! Glad you could all make it." She said loudly, one hand on her hip and the other propping her body up against the booth they were all sitting in.

"Hey Peyt." Brooke greeted her friend, getting up from the booth so the blonde could slide in next to her boyfriend.

"I guess I could sit down for a few minutes." She mumbled to herself as she sat down.

The group finished listening to the song in silence. When the song ended, another one, this one softer started up right after.

A minute or so into the new song, Peyton was the first to speak up. "What do you guys think of the band?" She looked around the group waiting for some reaction.

"Well, I for one think you did a great job babe." Luke commented, leaning over and giving her temple a soft kiss.

She thanked him with a sweet smile and peck on the lips, an eye roll, and a comment of her own. "But you always say that." Peyton looked away from him and called out, "What do you think Hales? You're the one studying music."

"I think their amazing, actually. I love their sound."

"Alright, now there is some positive feedback. Anyone else?" Peyton said, looking around at her other friends.

Nathan leaned over and whispered in her ear, "did you just come up with that on the spot?"

Haley glanced at him guiltily. "Kind of. It's not like I'm actually studying music, if you call taking a couple of music classes studying music, sure."

Nathan let out a rather loud guffaw. Sometimes, she was just too much. The whole group looked at the two of them, chuckling to each other.

Peyton and Brooke turned to each other, with knowing expressions.

...

Towards the end of the bands set for the night, Nathan found himself at the bar with Haley. They offered to get the next round for everyone. There they both were, leaning against the bar, watching the band and waiting for their drinks. The lead singer of the band had just introduced their last song. Nathan let the words wash over him. Every few seconds he would glance at the girl by his side. He turned towards her then. "Hey can we talk?" Nathan said quietly to the beautiful coed standing beside him, gently grabbing her by the arm. She nodded and followed without complaint when he turned away from the crowd, a curious expression on her face.

When the two had made it to a more private alcove in the club, he turned towards her dropping her arm from his grasp.

She could tell he was nervous. Whatever he had to say must be important because he had crossed his arms, rigidly across his chest, his hands fisting as he did so. After a few seconds, one of his hands made it's way into his hair and tousled it, scratching his scalp as he went.

Knowing he needed a little encouragement, she said, "It's okay Nathan. At this point in our friendship, there's nothing you could say or do that would surprise me."

Nathan had the sudden urge to kiss her so that's what he did. While she was still speaking he leaned over and planted a short but extremely soft kiss on her lips. He pulled away a few seconds later, trying to gauge her reaction to what had just happened.

Her eyes were still closed and when she opened them to look at him, it was like he could see the whole universe in her chocolate orbs. She nervously bit her lip and her eyes glazed over. He was about to apologize when she spoke softly. He had to lean a little forward to hear what she said.

"Why did you do that?"

"I wanted to." He spoke just as softly in answer.

Another few seconds passed and she blinked a few times to refocus on his face. She mumbled "Yeah" just barely loud enough for him to hear.

He didn't know what was happening but something in the air had shifted. In the next moment, she lunged forward, going up on her tip toes, her arms going around the back of his neck. Before he knew what was happening her lips were on his.

His arms wrapped around her back just as hers tightened around his neck. They were chest to chest and still he wanted them to be closer still.

...

He was brought back to the moment, the dance, when Haley gently set her hand on his cheek. "Where were you just now?" She asked, knowing he wasn't entirely present at that moment.

He smirked at her knowing what he was going to say would bring a flush to her cheeks. "Remembering our first kiss."

It did just that. He knew her too well. Her face lit up with a brilliant and bright smile. Through her smile she said, "I never told you this, but ever since the first moment I laid eyes on you on that stupid group date, I knew that we were going to end up together."

Nathan let out a laugh at that. He had thought the same thing after meeting her. "I also never told you this. Hales from the first moment I saw you and talked with you it felt like you had my heart. I know, it was a long time ago but it's true. In case you didn't know, I was and still am crazy about you."

Just then, the couple heard a ringing sound echoing throughout the chamber. "Why did we get that kissing bell again?"

"I thought it was a great idea." Haley scoffed, pinching him on the arm. When the bell rang again, they knew their guests really wanted them to kiss so they obliged. Not that they didn't want to kiss. Sometimes, once they started it was hard for them to stop.

Hearing a male voice shout out, "ugh. Get a room," they broke off the kiss, breathless, with obnoxiously wide smiles plastered on their faces. Their thoughts going to the same moment only a few hours before.

...

Nathan watched as Haley walked up the aisle with her father, Jimmy James. She looked so beautiful in her dress. He could not wait for her to be up there with him. He almost took off down the aisle himself to meet her halfway. But he didn't.

What felt like an eternity passed as she slowly made her way to him. When she did, she placed her hand in his outstretched one. She gave her bouquet to her sister and turned to fully face him reaching for his other hand as well. They smiled at one another. The priest started his speech but Nathan wasn't focused on the words. He felt the need to lean forward and give her a kiss but he held back. There would be a time for that later. He settled for bringing her hands to his lips and leaving a kiss on them.

Before he knew it, it was time for their vows. He knew he should've been paying attention to the words she was saying to him but all he could focus on were the movements of her lips and not the words leaving them. All too soon it was his turn and his brother behind him had to nudge him to get his attention.

He smiled at his soon to be wife, letting go of her hands. He grabbed a folded up piece of paper from his jacket pocket. He unfolded it and started to read. "Just the other day, as I tried to write these vows I thought about all the things that I wanted to say to you when we finally stood up at this altar after so long. It was like I literally hit a brick wall and I couldn't find the words to explain my feelings. I actually scrapped that whole draft because it was nothing but my ramblings."

He stopped and looked up, realizing he didn't really need the scrap of paper. Taking her left hand, he continued, "there is not a doubt in my mind at this moment standing up here with you. I would be lying if I said I could live without you. The first time I kissed you, it did me in. It actually got me thinking, thinking about everything and I almost told you right then and there, how much you meant to me. So here I am telling you this, you've got me, all of me. I belong to you and will for the rest of my life. Always and forever."

I hope you liked!

I'll try and get the next one out to you guys as soon as possible. Hopefully, just as soon as this one came! I don't know if I can beat half a month though. That's how long in between this chapter and the last. That's pretty fast! Probably the fastest I've updated, right?!

I had the hardest time trying to come up with a band name. So I used an existing band because they did do a cover of this song. And I do not own that band at all. I also know they aren't exactly in the right time frame for the show but it's called creative license for a reason. Okay. Please read and review!
