Chapter 6: Realm
Land Of Waves: Unfinished Bridge
"Hey, Naruto? Or should I say clone Naruto?" Tazuna asked the clone.
"You needn't worry about such small things. I may be his majesty's clone but you can refer to me however you'd like."
"Alright...I know this is a weird ask but...do you think we can move closer to see the fight?"
"This is surprising. Who would have thought you would be interested in such a dangerous matter." Tazuna couldn't lie, he was intrigued.
He didn't know much about shinobi, but he was starting to understand Naruto. The boy maintained a constant state of control, not just on himself but on everything around him. Tazuna felt he had to see if the might of one called himself king.
"I understand, but I believe I have a safer alternative." The clone then reached into its hoari and pulled out a small gourd, opened it up, and poured out water on the bridge surface.
"What are you doing Naruto?" Sakura was curious what the water was for.
"Nothing of interest. Do me a favor and look into the puddle for me Sakura." The clone gestured and Sakura complied.
She stared at the puddle for a minute as the water seemed to slowly spin like a mini whirlpool. She began to feel more and more tired until she could no longer fight the urge to rest her eyes. Sakura suddenly fell unconscious and was caught by Naruto's clone before she could fall to the ground.
"What did you do to her kid?" Tazuna asked.
"Just a little illusion to help her get her beauty rest. If you want you can gather the others to watch as well. It isn't every day you get to see a King in action." The clone pulled out 2 more water gourds and poured them on the existing puddle till a rather large one rested on the surface of the bridge as Tazuna and Inari turned to gather the rest of the bridge workers. They were scared, but they were also very excited. This was probably going to be the only shinobi battle that many of them will get to witness, so many pushed down that fear for the chance.
"Tōmegane no Jutsu(Telescope Technique)." The clone performed several hand signs and placed his hand on the puddle. A green wave of energy spread across the puddle before an image came into view. The people saw Naruto with a blade in his hand standing across from the assassin who also had his weapon handy. The onlookers commented about how cool Naruto was and how they hoped he came out on top.
"Will Naruto-nii be alright?" Inari asked. Naruto took the time to give Inari a firm reminder of how to be a man like his father and encapsulated many of his father's qualities. It might have been overnight, but Inari came to see Naruto as an older brother-like figure.
"Of course, his Majesty won't lose. Not when his realm is watching."
"His realm?"
"Yes. His Majesty, Emperor Uzumaki has come to enjoy the Wave and its people. He has decided that it will become part of the great Uzumaki Empire. He will free you all of the scourge that plagues this land and bring the wave to a new age of prosperity!"
"If he could free us from Gato then I'll call him king!" Said one of the workers.
"Me too. GO KING NARUTO!" Screamed another.
Soon a lot of workers were cheering and chanting, hoping that the blonde shinobi would liberate them from their oppressor.
"It looks like the kid's made an impression on everyone." Tazuna was happy to see this much hope among his people.
"Alright everyone, it's about to start." The clone said and everyone around settled down, ready to watch how a King fought.
Kakashi and Haku
Kakashi had been revered as a prodigy, a genius for his entire life. Sure he had come across others of the same title, and some of them surpassed him in caliber, but he was still confident in himself and his talent. At least, he was confident until a couple of months ago.
His fight with Naruto and Sasuke played out in the back of his mind constantly. Sasuke played with him and the more he thought about the boy's movements and maneuvers, the more certain he became that Sasuke had been able to influence his movements and reactions. Engaging Naruto felt like a match against Might Guy. No, if Kakashi was being honest, the boy might have hit harder than Guy. Naruto also immobilized him, and he knew what that would have meant out in the field. If they weren't his allies, or should he say, if they wouldn't have gotten in trouble for it, they could have killed him.
Now here he was, having that confidence tested again by a young woman who had to have been at least half his age. She had trapped them in the dome of twenty-one floating mirrors made out of ice. Twelve remained at ground level, eight floated above the first twelve and angled toward the ground, and the final mirror was above the rest and facing the ground. Any attempts to escape resulted in him avoiding a projectile to the eye. Kakashi also tried to use some of his earth-style escape jutsu but found they wouldn't work.
Haku's technique made her incredibly fast to the point where Kakashi's Sharingan had a hard time keeping up with her, meaning she had a constant element of surprise. Whenever she would throw a projectile or jutsu at him he would dodge it and it would enter one of the mirrors. Either instantly or after a delay, whatever went in the mirror would come out to attack him once more. She had also jumped in the mirror to avoid his attacks, and respond in kind with her projectile attacks or perform high-speed movements from one mirror to another.
Now they were locked in another taijutsu bout with Kakashi on the offensive.
"I'm surprised at how much I'm enjoying myself. No need to hold back, but no need to kill. Have I ever had a chance to just test my abilities?" Haku thought back. Her whole life had been one fight after another, with her honing her skills by spilling blood. This was the first time she had ever been able to use her abilities without the intention to kill. Haku's chain of thought was broken as Kakashi was able to land a kick to her chest creating a good amount of distance between the two.
"Katon: Karyūdan(Fire Release: Fire Dragon Bullet)!" Kakashi weaved through the signs and expelled a powerful stream of flame from his mouth towards Haku, but she jumped back and phased into the mirror behind her. The flame clashed with the mirror, but the mirror showed no difference.
Once again Kakashi was surrounded by the image of Haku reflected in each of the twenty-one mirrors.
"You are faring rather well Hatake. I haven't been able to land another hit on you since we began. You have earned your reputation."
"What are you guys up to? Your target was right in front of you yet you choose to engage us." Kakashi was trying his best to wrap his mind around the situation.
"Those are my orders. My lord has asked me to fight you to show my worth." Haku answered though she thought of both Naruto and Zabuza.
Zabuza didn't know, but Haku spied on Team 7 during the last week. She saw nothing special from Kakashi or Sakura, usually training in the forest, but Haku saw Naruto interact with everyone he came across. He would always ask for people's names and treated everyone with respect. The kids of the village had even interacted with him and called him the "cool blonde brother", though she had to wonder why he was sending so many clones out into the village all the time. Naruto was much like her, a kind and gentle soul who could become a heartless monster if necessary. She couldn't explain it, she never felt it before but she could see herself being a tool for his use.
"Then Zabuza must be losing his touch. You're skilled but you won't be able to beat me, and I think you know that." Kakashi then charged up his legendary Chidori figuring he would need higher attack potency than his fire jutsu to break the mirrors.
"To be honest with you, this technique requires me to use a lot of chakra to maintain. Hijutsu: Makyō Hyōshō(Secret technique: Demonic Mirroring Ice Crystal), It is my strongest defensive jutsu. But I know I'll have to push myself past my limits If I want to best you." Haku wasn't a fool. Kakashi was one of the strongest people she had faced to date, and though she wasn't going out of her way to kill him, she wasn't holding back.
Kakashi then shot forward and struck one of the mirrors with his lightning-clad hand, shattering it instantly. He gained a bit more distance before turning around to see the remaining mirrors, still in place and the wall Naruto made going across both sides of the bridge. Kakashi then saw Haku appear in the center of the dome. She formed a one-handed sign and the mirrors melted, the water falling and splashing on the ground.
"Come Hatake. I would like to see if I can be more than just a tool, just once." Haku felt so strange. She had never felt the need to improve or surpass anyone, let alone herself. Her purpose was to be useful to the man that saved her life. So why did she want to try? Why did she want to improve?
"You can just surrender. I have no interest in killing someone who isn't trying to kill me"
"I can understand that, but you'll just have to continue humoring me." Haku manipulated the water at her feet into the air and used them to create frozen spears that flew in Kakashi's direction.
"Katon: Hōsenka no Jutsu(Fire Release: Phoenix Sage Fire Technique)!" Kakashi launched a fireball that split into many miniature fireballs, colliding and neutralizing the ice attack, but creating a thick mist that covered the portion of the bridge they were fighting on.
Kakashi using his Sharingan could tell that his opponent was moving in for a sneak attack via the mist and figured another fistfight was most likely his best way of finishing the match. He put up his left hand to block a forward kick for Haku but felt an intense burning sensation from his hand upon contact. He immediately let go, jumped back, and looked down to see his hand covered in blisters and burns, and his glove somewhat burned together with his skin.
A mirror appeared and Haku shot at Kakashi at an insane speed. Kakashi saw a smoking shard of ice covering her right hand. As quickly and he could, Kakashi made a single-handed shadow clone that was able to push him out the way before Haku thrust through it. The clone then erupted into a current of electricity, shocking Haku and bringing her to her knees. Kakashi walked up to her.
"It's over, alright? I don't know what you did but you don't have the stamina to keep this up anymore." Kakashi was a bit winded himself, plus his hand was killing him. He could hardly move it.
A mist then erupted from around Haku. Kakashi found himself feeling a similar burning sensation all over and jumped back as fast as he could. He was having difficulty breathing and had to close his eyes, keeping the left one closed due to the stinging pain he felt.
Haku then came at Kakashi once more as they began another hand-to-hand exchange. Kakashi felt the stringing every time he blocked an attack but found he was quickly beating Haku. After a small exchange, Kakashi blocked a right hook from the girl, delivered a swift knee strike, then a powerful elbow to the top of her head, seemingly knocking her unconscious. Kakashi tried his best to catch his breath as he looked down at his opponent. He kneeled to remove her mask, but then she cracked. He couldn't react fast enough, his world turned black.
Kakashi fell on the ground with Haku standing over him, breathing haggardly. Her body was riddled with electrical burns and it took all her strength to remain standing. Haku was able to come out on top simply by the element of surprise. She had dabbled with freezing and solidifying the carbon dioxide in the air before, but found little use for it due to the amount of concentration it took. She felt foolish ignoring that the trade-off for the high level of concentration was a great deal of attack and defense potency at a relatively low cost. She already possessed a high caliber of chakra control so it wasn't too strenuous for her. The gas she was able to make alone could harm and debilitate her opponent quite well, and she thought her dry ice blade would have been effective too if she would have hit her target. After using her surprise gas attack, she made an ice clone while Kakashi had his eyes closed. The clone acted as a distraction with a majority of her remaining chakra while she lied in wait, for her perfect opportunity to strike.
"This victory is mine purely by luck...I guess...I do need to become...stronger." Haku then picked up Kakashi, bringing him to the clone Naruto left behind. He was the one who wanted her to fight him, so she figured he would know what to do in the case she was able to defeat him. Though she found herself wondering how the fight between Zabuza and the original Naruto was going.
She made it towards Naruto and a crowd of the bridge workers surrounding him. Haku also noticed the pink-haired female sleeping on one side of the bridge. Upon her arrival with the Jonin over her shoulder, the crowd became weary.
"Amazing! His majesty will be most pleased by this development. To think we would happen upon such a rare Kekkei Genkai, his majesty's truly is beloved by fortune! Never fear my dear friends, she is one of us. Oh and here come some more friends!" Suddenly two newcomers appeared one on each side of the clone.
"Hello Clone-sama, I see his Majesty has already begun his fight with Zabuza." Bando spoke. The crowd marveled at the massiveness of the man.
"Yes, and it looks like he's using Fun'iki. He must respect Momochi a great deal." The beauty which is Malice spoke, drawing the attention of the men in an instant.
"Who knew that the kid had such foxy friends!" Tazuna had to remember to introduce him to more of his "friends" after all this.
"His majesty knows many. Malice-san can you please tend to our new friend's wounds?" Malice then walked up to Haku and grabbed her hand. Haku had never felt a hand so soft.
"It is a pleasure to meet you, Haku. My name is Malice. If you don't mind, I'd like to tend to your wounds."
"Um...yes, thank you…" Haku didn't know what else to say. She was hurt and if they were going to heal her she wasn't going to say no.
"Everyone they're about to go at it!" The clone notified the audience.
"I didn't know the kid had a long sword. I've only seen that little one he's got on him" Tazuna asked. Sparking the curiosity of a couple of onlookers. Many had seen naruto over the week and noticed he only carried a small blade.
"That blade and the one Naruto-sama holds are the very same. It's the only weapon fit for a king of his caliber." Malice responded.
"So you guys call him king too? Is it for real?" The crowd had to know now, who was Naruto?
"Yes, it is of course true. Naruto-sama is the emperor of the Uzumaki empire, and he would like to ask for this great land to join our family. He is not foolish enough to believe you will join him simply because he asked. He would like you all to witness the might he will use to protect us, his realm!" Malice proclaimed, receiving whispers and chatter amongst the crowd. It soon died down as they watched the man called king. He deserved his utmost attention.
With Naruto and Zabuza
The two had stared at each other for several minutes. Neither one moved, it didn't even look as if they were breathing. Zabuza observed every muscle of his opponent. He had fought Sasuke and that had been one of the hardest fights of his life. He was being toyed with the entire time and he didn't think he could have done anything about it at the time. He was too naive, or maybe too cocky was more accurate. These were not kids and to treat them as such meant certain death.
"So can you use ice ninjutsu? That wall behind us looks rather impressive." Zabuza was a bit nervous. He knew what Haku was capable of and he never thought he would come across another ice user.
"No, nothing crazy like that." Naruto said casually while making a waving gesture.
"Oh, so I guess you're not that special after all." Zabuza had only a moment to place his blade before him to block Naruto's downward slash. He had felt as if someone had thrown a boulder at him.
"No, I meant that ice ninjutsu would be far too mundane for me. If I go crazy, it has to make no sense!" Naruto then pushed Zabuza forward causing him to slide till his back hit the ice wall. Zabuza felt like he had been pushed by some kind of invisible hammer.
"You did well against my Furue(tremor), but let's see how you handle this. Uzumaki tōgi: Kyūryū(Uzumaki sword technique: Rapids)!" Naruto shot forward towards Zabuza and upon appearing before him, began a rapid tempo of forwarding thrusts with his sword. Zabuza moved faster than he ever had before, blocking as many strikes as he could with the wide side of his blade.
"Good Zabuza, very Good! Now let's try Kyūryū kyūryū(Rushing Rapids)" Naruto thrusts seemed to multiply. Zabuza couldn't keep up and found himself slashed multiple times. He felt the ice shavings from the wall on his body, the boy's attack being that wide and destructive. The moment there was a lapse in the boy's assault, Zabuza swung his sword in a horizontal arc causing Naruto to jump back.
Zabuza quickly moved away from the wall towards his left, trying to keep out to the blonde's range until he was ready to strike. Hopefully, his arms would stop vibrating by then.
"Zabuza, if we are to become friends and allies we are going to have to get closer. Uzumaki tōgi: Bakyūmu(Uzumaki Sword technique: Vacuum)!" Naruto sheathed and unsheathed his sword in one fluid motion while performing a spin. Zabuza was pulled off his feet and pulled and forward towards him. Zabuza decided to use the forward momentum to enhance a downward strike.
"YES ZABUZA! USE ALL AT YOUR DISPOSAL AND FACE ME! ŌNAMI(Big Wave)!" Naruto continued his spin until he had spun around completely and made contact with Zabuza's blade. The result of their clash was a shockwave that managed to push Zabuza back a bit.
"I must admit, you are a lot stronger than I would have ever guessed." Zabuza then began to channel his chakra. His Kubikiribōchō adopted a blood-red aura around it.
"You know, I haven't had to use this technique since I went against Yagura, but you are definitely an opponent that deserves my best. I'll show you everything I've got!" The Kubikiribōchō shunk in width. It looked the same, it just wasn't as wide. Zabuza launched forward with a newfound speed and delivered a flurry of thrusts and swings at the boy. At first, his attacks seemed to put Naruto on the defensive, but after a couple more swings, Zabuza found it harder and harder to continue. It was as if something was holding his sword every time he tried to swing it.
"Interesting technique Zabuza. I'm glad to see you still have more in your bag of tricks, but so do I. Shūchū-ha(Torrential Wave)!" Naruto performed a downward slash that sent a wave of pressurized water at Zabuza. The wave crashed with Kubikiribōchō as Zabuza executed a downward slash of his own. He noted that the attack felt like a B-ranked water jutsu, but Zabuza ultimately fended off the attack.
The two engaged each other once again in a high-speed kenjutsu battle. Naruto executed many different types of maneuvers and seemed to be able to move to any position around Zabuza. The missing-nin had never witnessed sword techniques of this level. Every attack Naruto had thrown at him was fast and fluid but also had a ton of power behind them. The kid was like an ocean, calm and fluid one second then insanely powerful and unpredictable the next.
Naruto was having a great deal of fun. Zabuza was a more than respectable Kenjutsu practitioner. His attacks may have been big, and his weapon was bigger, but Zabuza had speed, power, and accuracy. There wasn't a single wasted movement in any of his attacks. The two were now locked into a stalemate.
"Zabuza, It seems I'm not the only one with a special sword. Tell me what was that ability you performed earlier and why is the sword smaller." Naruto was curious. Whatever the move was, Zabuza's combat capabilities by what seemed like double.
"I've heard and even seen a couple of the idiots hold this blade, but not one of them understood it. Kubikiribōchō is a weapon that devours the iron in the blood to repair itself, but it can also be used to strengthen its user, injecting iron in their body and allowing for an increase in blood oxygen. I call it Akuma no chūsha(Demon's injection)."
"What an apt name for a Demon." Naruto broke the stalemate off and jumped back, avoiding a horizontal slash in the process.
"I guess it's only fair to tell you about my blade. This weapon is of great importance to me. It is one of my oldest allies and I love her with all my heart and soul." Naruto lifted his sword till it was at eye level. Zabuza was curious about what the sword could do.
"Paradokkusuejji is a weapon, but not a weapon. It is one, but many. Before you is the majesty which is Fun'iki."
"Atmosphere? What's that got to do with your sword?" Zabuza was confused. Paradox edge? Not a weapon? One but many? It was as if Naruto was speaking in riddles.
"It has everything to do with it. With her by my side, I can influence the atmosphere around me. She is the answer to my wish, to be a King that can influence my realm for the better."
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Wish? Realm? You really are off your rocker aren't you boy?! Zabuza had seen many different weapons and moves but a sword that could affect all around them, insanity!
"Fun'iki: Totsuzen no ame(Atmosphere: Sudden rain)" Naruto twirled his blade in his hand till the blade's end facing the ground.
Zabuza's eyes almost leaped out of his head as it started to rain around them. Zabuza was even more stunned to find that the rain was coming from over their heads, but not from the sky. A couple of feet above them was a faint cloud, which was the source of the shower.
"Fun'iki: Ōame(Atmosphere: Heavy rain)." The rain came down harder and faster. Some of the droplets acted as high-speed blades, managing to wound Zabuza slightly before the man leaped out of the rain. He noted that it seemed to be confined to a specific radius, so as long as he stayed out of that range he would be alright.
"Fun'iki: Tsuisutā(Atmosphere: Twister)!" Naruto performed a large side swing and a powerful twister a tad larger than Zabuza ripped through the rain and wrapped around Zabuza. The wind, ripping and tearing into him.
"Furasshufaia(Flash Fire), then Netsu harikēn(Heat Hurricane)!" Naruto sheathed his blade and burst forward, kicking up a gust. Once he appeared to the side of his mini twister, Naruto unsheathed his sword and superheated the air around it, and used it to ignite his previous attack. The result was a large spring pillar of fire. It soon dispersed, revealing a burned and bruised Zabuza. He would have fallen to the ground if he didn't use his blade to hold him up.
Zabuza's sword shrunk once more in width as the man seemed to come back from the dead. He swung his sword wildly at the blonde forcing him on the defensive.
"He's a monster! The only way to beat him is to become a demon!" Zabuza knew his usual tactics and abilities would do him no good against an opponent like this. An opponent who was able to pull off ninjutsu-like attacks simply with a sword swing. Then again, Sasuke was able to defeat him with some strange power as well. He thought that maybe, this "king" would be able to make him stronger. Maybe even more.
"You seem to have a good amount of fight left in you Zabuza. So let's keep this going!" Naruto retaliated, forcing them into a dangerous exchange.
Blocks, parries, dodges, and strikes for what seemed like an eternity, but both of them continued.
"So Zabuza, are you excited about joining our great empire? I think you'll do very well amongst our ranks." Naruto was smiling amid their confrontation.
"You haven't beaten me yet. Plus, if you lose here, are you still allowed to call yourself a king?"
"Zabuza, there is an unfortunate truth for you here. I can't lose to you, at least not while my realm watches." Naruto's voice and demeanor seemed to change.
Zabuza felt a sense of danger as they fought, but nothing too worrying. It was like a spar between elites. Now, it was as if death surrounded him, but the fear would push him further. Zabuza disengaged and went through some hand signs resulting in 8 serpents made out of the water, rising for the ocean.
"Suiton: Kaimetsu-tekina haidora(Water style: Devastating Hydra)!" Each of the serpents lunged at Naruto.
"Fun'iki: Surudoi kaze(Sharp wind)." Naruto swung his sword multiple times creating airwaves that collided with all the serpent heads. The heads then reformed and doubled, launching towards Naruto yet again. The blonde dodged back and forth as the serpents continued attacking.
"This is the strongest jutsu in my arsenal. It isn't suited for my line of work, but it sure is fucking effective against threats like you!" Zabuza pumped more of his remaining chakra into his attack believing it would secure his victory.
"I'm honored that you would use your very best against me Zabuza, so it's only fair that I show you one of my best as well." Naruto said as he continued avoiding the serpents.
"Whatever you got, it won't beat my hydra!"
"Zabuza, have you ever swung a sword with no resistance?" Naruto asked ominously.
"What the hell are you talking about?!" Zabuza didn't know what was going on but he didn't like it. He added more power to create several more serpents that joined in on the attack.
"I'll take that as a no. As a king, I mold my will into reality. If I desire to swing my sword...There is no force that can stop, resist or impede me...My blade will touch you...Fun'iki: Tokutei no zero(Atmosphere: Certain Zero)!" Naruto swung his sword down and all the serpents dissolved.
He was nowhere near Zabuza yet he had struck him on his left side. He had a deep gash down the left side of his chest and went down his left leg to his foot. He had also noticed that his left arm had been severed from his upper forearm in the cleanest cut he had ever seen. He was dizzy from the blood loss and low chakra, but before he could faceplant on the ground, a black chain wrapped around and caught him.
"Fuck, fuck, fuck… I knew I took it too far! Don't worry Zabuza, I'll heal you up in no time. It might hurt a bit though." Naruto placed Zabuza on the ground and placed his severed arm together at the division.
"Jigoku no wakagaeri no shukufuku(Hell's rejuvenating blessing)" A dark green aura surrounded Naruto's chain, then engulfed Zabuza.
His wounds rapidly healed and his arm looked as if it had never been severed in the first place. He even felt his strength returning, but then he felt as if someone had set him on fire. He began screaming and thrashing wildly until Naruto finished and released him from his chain. Zabuza sat up, having a bit of difficulty steading his breath. He didn't feel bad. In fact, he felt better than before the fight, but during whatever healing the boy did to him, that pain was near excruciating.
"You almost killed me…" That was all Zabuza could think to say.
"Yea...My bad about that. I wanted to show off for everyone and I kinda got carried away. On the bright side, you should be better than ever." Naruto said, scratching his head.
"What did you even do to me?"
"Do you mean almost cutting you in half or putting you back together? Cause the first was just me swinging my sword with zero resistance in the atmosphere, the second was a technique one of your new allies will teach you. Trust me Zabuza when we are done with you, you won't recognize yourself. Now come on, time to meet the rest of our friends." Naruto and Zabuza began walking back to the crowd.
Front of the Bridge
The crowd had witnessed a bout for the ages. It might not have been the longest, or the flashiest fight, but it was a true testament to strength and skill. The two combatants seemed to have pushed themselves to their limits and though none of them were fighters the audience could tell.
Many of them believed that size and age would be the deciding factors in this fight but they were proven wrong. Naruto's display captivated everyone who had watched. No matter what Zabuza did, no matter what move he pulled, It seemed that Naruto was in control the entire time. He pressed Zabuza into a wall in the first minute, trapped the man in a burning twister, and then finished off the match by almost killing his opponent then healing them. One way or another, Naruto had earned the respect and admiration of many who watched the King fight.
As Naruto and Zabuza returned to the crowd, they were greeted by cheering and applause. They saw Kakashi and Sakura slumped over near the side guards of the bridge. Zabuza noticed the addition of 2 strange individuals, a black-haired woman and an orange-haired man that was taller than him, both of them wearing a swirl instead of a traditional village symbol.
"NARUTO NARUTO NARUTO NARUTO!" The crowd continued to cheer as he walked up to Malice, Bando, and his clone.
"Brillant showing your majesty!" The clone praised.
"Yes my lord, your display was beautiful. You have been training rigorously I see." Malice always loved seeing Naruto battle. It was more like a play, regardless of if you knew the outcome, it's everything in between that's such a joy to watch.
"My lord, it was absolutely amazing! That technique you used at the end was magnificent." Bando was stunned to see a sword slash of that potency. He knew if Naruto wasn't holding back, Zabuza would have been severed in two.
"Thank you for the praise Malice-san, Bando. By the way, I would like to introduce you to our new friends and allies. This is Zabuza Momochi and I believe you have already met Haku-chan. These are 2 of my knights and members of my cabinet, Malice Rinha and Bando."
"It's a pleasure to meet you Zabuza. I have already been introduced to Haku, but I hope that we are all able to become close allies." Malice delivered a warm smile.
"Welcome to the empire and I feel the same and Lady Malice. I'm sure you will make valued additions." Bando spoke, extending his hand out to Zabuza.
"Wait kid, I'll join your cause and call you king all you want, but let Haku go. You said it yourself, you were planning to recruit me from the start, but you didn't know about her."
"Zabuza-sama…" Haku chest felt tight, and she was a bit choked up
"Let her go and live her life and I'll be the best soldier you'll ever need." Zabuza continued making the case for his request.
"Zabuza, I would never make someone join me against their will. If Haku would like to leave and do something else with her life she is more than welcomed to do so. You as well, I have no desire for comrades that are only so out of circumstance."
"NO, This is what I want. It's what we both want and you know it!" Haku shouted.
"Haku…"
"No more running, no more jobs that make us question our morality. It may not have been the way we want but we might have found a home." Zabuza may have been a merciless killer, but he still had a heart, and that heart was Haku.
She was the strand of humanity that kept him from becoming something worse than a Demon. He found her when she was just a little girl, and over the years they had been through much together. He wasn't the best at displaying his emotions or offering praise, but she would always smile anyways. She always seemed happy around him, and that always made him happy around her. She was his little girl, and he would have happily abandoned his ambitions if that meant making her happy. It wasn't that his resolve was so weak he could abandon it, it's just he found something more precious to put that resolve towards.
"Are you sure about this Haku….?"
"I would follow you anywhere Zabuza-sama, but I've seen what this life has done to you. This could be the chance to do the good that you always wanted. We might have killed for our goals but we did so to get to a better tomorrow. I think this is our reward for all our hard work." Haku walked up and grabbed Zabuza's hands with both of hers.
To Haku, this man was the one she deemed father. Her own was fearful of her abilities, so much so he tried to end her. Zabuza encouraged her for the moment he saw her. He supported, helped, trained, and parented her. Sure he was harsh at times, sure he was rude, but he was never cruel. She felt the man's concern when he would bring her a meal and order her to eat, or when he would go out of their way to go to a good village tailor and make sure she was dressed in the best attire they could afford.
"If this is what you want Haku, then you got us, kid, we will join your empire!"
"Yes Naruto-sama, we will gladly accept your invitation to join your cause." This whole time it had been her and her father, but this was her opportunity not to just do for him, but for herself too. She couldn't explain it, but she wanted to follow Naruto, to see where he would go. She wanted to see how far he'd reach, and she wanted to help him, in whatever way she could.
"Excellent! It's a true joy to welcome you to the Uzumaki empire! Once we get back to the village we can begin your training."
"Damn kid, you don't mess around do you? But you sure you want to make me stronger? I might come for your neck later on." Zabuza decided to poke a bit of fun at his new leader.
"Zabuza, please refer to Lord Naruto with a title of respect. Plus, if you believe that you'll be able to try and kill his majesty it's only because you haven't seen what he's capable of." Malice retorted.
"What are you talking about? The kid almost cut me in half!"
"And you believe that was the pinnacle of his capabilities? He is half your age and you couldn't even land an attack on him." Zabuza didn't even realize with all the craziness of their fight, he never landed a hit.
"That look on your face tells me you've come to an understanding."
"Malice-san there's no need for aggression. I'm sure Zabuza was just joking around." Naruto knew of Malice's defensive nature when it came to him. One wrong move and she was a proud lioness defending her cub. She gave his Kingusugādo a run for its money.
"Before we continue I have some questions to ask?" Zabuza turned to Naruto with a serious expression.
"Please Zabuza, go ahead." Naruto matched his seriousness.
"How strong are Haku and I compared to those among you ranks?" Zabuza's first question was very telling. He was starting to grasp the power gap.
"You might be able to come out against our genin equivalent 2 out of 10 times in a fight. Maybe." Naruto's answer felt like a stab to the gut for the man.
He knew that the boy in front of him was the king of this empire, and if the genin under his command were able to take people like him and Haku on with a great chance of victory, they were a true force to be reckoned with.
"Where do those two rank amongst you?" Zabuza asked his second question.
"Malice-san and Bando are both seated members of my cabinet and rank directly and are the strongest among our ranks under me and My head knight." Zabuza got the point.
"So we are that weak huh?"
"Don't stress it Zabuza, it's as I told you. Once we are done with you, you will be a different man. The man you always wanted to be. You will just have to wait and see." Naruto's words made the man feel better, and quite excited. The boys were absolute monsters, so if he was able to acquire strength comparable to them, he would be a force to be reckoned with.
"I understand...Boss." This put a massive smile on Naruto's face and a softer, smaller one of Haku.
It was at this time that Tazuna and Inari went up to Naruto. They decided to wait till it seemed he finished his conversation, less they upset one of the people who could harm them.
"Boy, that was AMAZING! You were like slice slice slice and then BOOM and POW! Then he was like SLASH SLASH and you made the FIRE TORNADO!"
"NARUTO-NI IS SO COOL! YOU WEREN'T EVEN NEAR HIM AT THE END AND YOU GOT'EM!" The group couldn't tell who was the grandson and who was the grandfather. The pair were similarly fawning over the battle between Zabuza and Naruto, and all the cool techniques they were able to witness.
"Naruto-ni, can I learn to do all that cool ninja stuff too?" Inari looked up at the blonde with twinkles in his eyes.
"If your mother and Grandfather say it's alright, then I'm sure you will be able to train as a shinobi."
"But we don't even have shinobi here, how would he be able to train?" Tazuna asked.
"Don't worry about that right now sir Tazuna. Changes are coming to the Wave for the better." Naruto delivered his signature smile which resulted in small laughs and chuckles from those around him, even Zabuza.
"HELP HELP!"
"ITS GATO AND HIS MEN"
"NARUTO-SAMA, HELP US PLEASE!"
The group looked over to see Gato and what seemed to be a collection of about 100 mercenaries at the beginning of the bridge. People of varied sizes and appearances, each one armed with a weapon of some sort be it swords, spears, chains, etc.
"Well well well, looks like you guys decided to make this easy for me and round up all the garbage in one place." Said Gato. He was a short man with shaggy brown hair sporting a pair of small, circular black glasses. He also wore a black suit with a purple tie, a yellow shirt underneath his coat, and closed-toed shoes. Gato had been the founder and owner of a shipping company, which only grew once he took control of the Waves' trading routes. It was this man's greed and cruelty that was draining the country of life.
"So you are the one called Gato. You have caused my land and my people much pain and sorrow. You must be punished, you and your band of thugs." Naruto dispelled his clone and began to take a couple of steps forward towards Gato.
"Your people? I own this land and these people, boy! If I want to kill a couple or let my boys have some fun that's my choice. In fact, when we are done with that stupid old bridge builder, I'll have my boys go a couple of rounds with his daughter." This got laughs and cheers from the mercs, but the opposite from Tazuna.
"HOW FUCKING DARE YOU, YOU DAMN MIDGET! I'LL RIP THAT STUPID FUCKING HEAD FROM YOU BODY AND FEED YOU TO THE SHARKS!" Tazuna was too angry to worry about his safety. He ran straight for Gato with reckless abandon. Several mercs moved to protect Gato, but luckily Naruto stopped Tazuna before he got too close.
"HAHAHA! Did that upset you? How about the time where I got rid of that nuisance of a son-in-law for you? That one you should be thanking me for, now your daughter doesn't have to settle for some nobody!" Tazuna was turning red with rage with Inari not too far behind.
The boy's eyes were filled with tears due to his frustration. He wanted nothing more than to see the bastard Gato get ripped to shreds. Before either one of them could respond, an all too familiar voice shouted out for all to hear.
"HOW DARE YOU!? KAIZA WAS A REAL MAN WHEN COMPARED TO A WORM LIKE YOU! DON'T YOU DARE DISRESPECT HIS MEMORY!" Tsunami was standing at the front of a massive crowd of the Waves' denizens. Each and everyone one with some sort of makeshift armor and or weapons such as pots for helmets, lids for shields, and some guarding tools for attacking. With their arrival, Gato and his men were sandwiched between them and those on the bridge.
"You talk as if you have real power but you're a coward that couldn't come and handle this widow on his own! You had to send your stupid goon to try and kill me, luckily I had a brave knight protecting me." Behind Tsunami, Sasuke stepped out, appearing with his right hand on his blade and a scowl on his face.
Before their arrival, an assailant had gone to capture or kill Tsunami as a way to deter Tazuna from continuing on the bridge. Sasuke confronted said attacker, defeating them swiftly, but before finishing them off, the attacker revealed to them that Gato had planned to take his militia to the bridge and kill all there. Tsunami suggested that Sasuke's presence might be necessary at the bridge to ensure everyone's safety, but he disagreed and said that his mission of protecting her was his priority. She then suggested that she, along with the rest of the people of the Wave, accompany the boy to confront the tyrant that had caused them all this agony. Upon seeing how determined she was, Sasuke agreed, promising her that no harm would come to her or the people as long as he could help it. She did believe in the boy, but she didn't expect him to be able to protect them all. She didn't care though, because she wanted to fight for her home, for her family, for the man who gave it all so she could have that. Kaiza fought for what he believed in, if they were to truly honor his memory it was time for them to do the same.
The mob of townsfolk and the bridge builders were getting rowdy. They were screaming and shouting for Gato's head. It seemed that the only thing holding both groups back was the boys standing in front of them. Those on the bridge knew of what Naruto was capable of, and if the boy was to be their king, they knew they were in good hands. The other crowd knew of Tsunami and her sufferings. If she was the person to lead this charge, and this was the person she decided to have by her side when she did, then the people knew that they could trust her choice. Plus Tazuna's gossiping about his "super-duper" black-haired bodyguard, and the fact that Sasuke was guarding Tazuna's daughter helped people assume that this kind was the powerful guard he was bragging about.
Gato and his men were becoming noticeably nervous. They couldn't stay still, it was like they were itching to let loose, until….
"Fuck this! I'll kill this old man now and then we can get rid of the rest of these pathetic insects!" A random merc pulled out his katana and ran forward, almost passing Naruto...almost…
What those that were able to see, could have been described as gruesome or sickening, but Naruto never saw it that way. Moments like these were his favorite. It was like he controlled time and space, nothing happened in moments like these unless he wanted. Control, that was what he craved, and the more he acquired the more whole he felt. He did his best to hide his glee, his utter bliss, and simply looked over at the mess he made.
One of his onyx chains shot out from his back and curved straight towards the fool that dared to step towards the king. It hit its mark with devastating speed and force, striking right through the grunt's skull at a downward, diagonal angle with its tip stopping short of piercing the bridge. Along its length was scattered pieces of grey matter with skull fragments, glazed in the man's blood, dripping to the ground like a leaky faucet.
"Gato, you must do a better job controlling your men as a leader. That one's death is on your hands and your hands alone. When you are a leader, the lives of all that follow you are your responsibility, yet you can't even trust yourself with your safety. You and yours are a scourge to this land and its people, so I will be the manifestation of the people's will, I will answer their call!" Naruto proclaimed as those who watched on awed at his presence. He had eliminated one of the enemies to their land swiftly and without mercy. He protected the people like he said he would. He had been kind to them, never treating them as if he was better, but always as equals. He laughed with them, worked with them, even helped some of them in passing. Now he was standing up for them, showing that he would gladly fight for them.
"NARUTO-SAMA!
"KING!"
"LORD NARUTO!
"NARUTO-DONO!"
Once it started, the effect was resounding. The Bridge was a roar with the voices of the Waves', all calling for their leader, for their king. Gato and his men were visibly shaken by the sheer power of their combined voices, it snuffed out any of the orders he tried to deliver to the militia. Naruto unsheathed Paradokkusuejji as it assumed its Fun'iki form, and threw it in the air. This caused everyone to go quiet.
"People of the Wave, if you shall have me as your king, then I will give you all of me! My hands will work for the realm, my heart will beat for the realm, and my soul will burn for the realm! You shall now prosperity, you shall know safety, you shall know to thrive instead of only to survive! Wave, call for your King and the king shall answer his realm!" Naruto oozed majesty. They didn't know whether he was chosen by a higher power, or simply a man with a dream, but he had earned their loyalty, their respect, their admiration. Naruto had earned the heart of the people, all of their actions had shown this, but they had one more act to perform.
"NARUTO-SAMA!
"KING!"
"LORD NARUTO!
"NARUTO-DONO!"
The people called out once more to confirm their decision. He was their king and this was his realm. He would do anything for his realm. His blade fell from the air and he caught it with his right hand, it seemed to hum in delight.
"Very well! Gato, you and your lot are within my realm without my permission and have committed wrongs towards my people!" Naruto placed his right arm up as if he were about to swing his sword. His power exploded out of him, shaking all around him.
"This is insanity! I've never seen chakra so clearly. It's so dense! It's as if it's a liquid constantly pouring out of him! If I stick with him, I wonder if I'll become that powerful?" Zabuza couldn't help but be envious of Naruto's power. But he was more curious about the heights he could reach with his help. That, and how much stronger his new boss could grow.
"Naruto-sama, this is still just a fraction of your might...Does someone like you have a limit? I will gain strength...to stand by you... To make your dream come true...because...your making mine…." Naruto's display was reassurance for Haku.
She didn't doubt her choice but to see her new King using his might for the people instead of his objectives. It wasn't the same as Zabuza. The man saved her from the life of an orphan in his way, and she wouldn't change it for the world, but Naruto saved them from fate. From the brand that had been placed on them, the stigma that governed all their actions. Naruto gave her what she never knew she wanted, a choice and she chose him. She chose her king.
"You are to forfeit your lives to me for the sake of the realm!" Naruto's voice boomed. Everyone heard it as if he was talking inside their heads.
"YES MY LORD!" Kurama called out from inside his inner world. She felt him flex his strength and was overjoyed every time he was allowed to do so.
She couldn't wait for the day she could praise him in person, to show her love and fealty for him with everything she was. Until that day, she would do so from within, as his and only his confidant. As his and only his most loyal follower.
"Deliver your judgment swift and fierce my lord! Show everyone that you are greater than they will ever know. You are what shouldn't be, you are what has never been, you are paradox incarnate!" Naruto began his downswing as he heard his dear Kurama cheer him on once more.
"FOR I AM-" The world seemed too slow. Gato stumbled back and fell on his bottom, waving his hands back and forth in front of him as a show of surrender. Many of the militia tried to run and scatter, but found that their movements were restricted. They felt bogged down as if sinking in the deep.
"YOU ARE-" The people watched on in wait for the fate of their oppressors, now that their lord's fury was soon upon them.
"THE KING!" Naruto and Kurama declared in unison as his blade came down, yet nothing happened. It was then that Naruto uttered the words…
"Fun'iki: Shizukana konton(Atmosphere: Quiet chaos)!" True to its name, all was quiet.
Suddenly Gato and his men were decimated in an instant. Shred to the point that all that was left was an indistinguishable pile of flesh, cloth, and metals from weapons. It was a stomach-churning sight for sure, yet everyone stood strong. Not a single citizen turned their eyes or lost their composure. They decided to side with Naruto, and Naruto decided to do what was best for them. This was his answer and they weren't going to turn away from his gift. It was then that the crowd's emotions exploded outwards. Cheers, cries, screams, and shouts could be heard throughout the land, for it was celebrating its freedom.
Naruto and Sasuke walked up to what was left of their adversaries. They shared a look and a faint smile until Naruto turned and walked away. Sasuke performed a jutsu to burn the remains of Gato and his men.
The denizens of the Waves were now grouped together at the beginning of the bridge, celebrating their liberation and looking forward to the future of their home. Naruto appeared before the group, with them quieting down to hear what he seemed to have to say.
"People of the Wave! Your pain and suffering are now over! The plague that was Gato and his band of mercenaries will no longer terrorize your home. I am sorry for all you have gone through, and I wish I could return to you all you have lost, but alas that is outside my power. What I will do is dedicate all the resources available to me to make the Wave stronger than ever before, so that an atrocity such as this never happens again. You are all my family, part of the Uzumaki empire, the strongest the world has ever known! We will grow, we will thrive, we will evolve not just for ourselves but for each other! So join me, as we grow to take on the world!" The crowd went crazy for their new king.
He was going to be their chance to be able to live an actual life. The cheering and celebrating continued. Tazuna, Inari, and Tsunami all joined in, with people coming up and praising Tsunami on her bravery and her ability to convince all the townspeople to come. Naruto and his supporters had moved back towards the end of the bridge to talk and allow the people to revel in their new freedom. After a couple of minutes, a newcomer dress in red seemed to grapple up the end of the bridge, landing at its edge.
"Greetings Naruto-sama. I take it that all went according to plan?" Kagura stepped forward and kneels before her lord.
"Of course, you did an amazing job as always Kagura. I know I can always rely on you." Kagura drank it all in like the finest wine. Lord, how she loved his praise.
"Thank you, my lord, It fills me with joy that you are pleased." Zabuza was curious to know who this woman was, and what they were talking about.
"Plan? What plan?" It seemed Haku was also curious about a few things herself. One of them being who this "Kagura" was to Naruto and why she spoke to him in such a sultry tone.
"Ah yeah, since you are part of our ranks it's only right that you know of our operations. Yesterday, we had a meeting to discuss how to handle the situation here in the wave. It was decided that we would eliminate Gato and assume control of his wealth and operations. Using an imposter, we were able to round up all the mercenaries in one spot to take them out while the people watched." Naruto answered honestly, seeing no need to lie to those he called friends.
"But how did you know the townsfolk would show up? And why did they need to witness it?" Haku was still a bit confused about the point of the plan.
"Closure and proof. If the boss just took out Gato and his lot with no one to vouch for him, then no one will believe him or take him seriously. If he took this land using his strength, he would be no better than Gato. With this plan, he could show the people that the era of suffering they experience could come to an end if they trusted him. He gave them a choice and though in this situation it seemed they were choosing the lesser of two evils, it was still their choice to make. They haven't been given a choice in a long time…" Zabuza answered her, showing how insightful he could be when he wanted to.
"Very good Zabuza. You will be quite the threat after some training. I am Kagura, one of the seated members of Naruto-sama's cabinet. I am also the one responsible for getting the townspeople here, or at least getting the idea in Lady Tsunami's mind. Using my special ability, I was able to play the role of the thug that went to attack her. Lord Uchiha knew of my role and played along. With the threat knocking on her front door, she would feel the pressure to want to fight back, gathering the people and leading them here. Also, she was able to see some of Lord Uchiha's abilities, which helped her in making the choice to come." Kagura said as she got up and turned to face Zabuza and Haku.
"I see...You already had them...but you wanted to show them that they had a choice and that you were the right one." Haku said as she pondered over everything.
"Sound familiar? By the way Kagura, I apologize if I was too rough. I wanted it to be convincing." Sasuke said as he walked up.
"No need to worry Lord Uchiha, I sustained no damage at all."
"Hey, brat! I haven't been able to pay you back for what you did to me a week ago!"
"We can handle whatever grudge you have whenever you will like, but know you would be going against the head knight of the Uzumaki empire." Zabuza's suspensions were confirmed from that comment.
"I'm not dumb enough to take you on now, but once I go through this training you keep going on about, I'll kick your ass!"
"Then you'll get your rematch when you have obtained your Hatsu."
"What the hell is Hatsu? And what-" Zabuza was interrupted by Naruto.
"Now, no need to ask questions to which you are about to get the answers. Now that everything here is taken care of, clones of Sasuke and I will stay here and finish our mission, as well as prepare the land for when we can get the leaf out of here. We all are to return home for now."
Soragakure
What was once a testament to bitterness and resentment, was now a monument towards a better tomorrow. Soragakure was remodeled over the years, its architecture now composed of several metallic skyscrapers with rowed ducts connected to them and many power lines surrounding. With the multiple great minds and the seemingly infinite uses for Uzumaki seals, they were able to import the materials and have the village up and running in no time at all. There were stores and restaurants, spas and nail salons. It seemed that they had every amenity one could want. A massive fully equipped hospital and medical core, a well-supported technological division, even military, and police departments and barracks. This village seemed to have everything every other village could only dream of.
Naruto and company had been given a tour by Bando, Malice, and Kagura. Bando was most excited to show his lord the hard work of all of his followers and how their home had become the first of many to advance to this point. To say Naruto was pleased with what he had witnessed was an understatement. The ninja academy was stunning, and the kids were doing and learning everything he had approved of, with their being all the help and resources any of them will need to become splendid shinobi, or whatever they felt they wanted to do in their lives, due to the academy offering a plethora of non-shinobi courses. The military looked and performed like clockwork, the medics were getting more and more training every day and the people seemed happier than ever. He even got his own office! It was the largest and tallest skyscraper in the center of the village, which housed the main offices for most of the departments that he had implemented. On the top floor sat his office with everything a king could want and need. Big beautiful desk, check. Fancy computer, check. He even had living quarters on the same floor! Yes, Naruto was very happy to see what he and he were able to accomplish.
After showing Zabuza and Haku their living arrangements within the village and giving them their official Uzumaki headbands, they arrived at the training annex. It was a massive stadium-like building filled with different rooms for different training conditions. As Bando finished they all noticed a figure approaching them.
All but Naruto, Haku and Zabuza kneeled as fast as they could with their heads down. The former Kiri inhabitants looked on in confusion, believing this person to be someone of importance, but it was strange to see Sasuke kneel. He held a position second to the King, and they had not said anything about a position in between, so who was this.
"Nar-u-to-Kun...It has been too long since you've come to play with me…" The figure came into view revealing it to be a woman with light blue hair. She was clad in leg and arm restraints, but not much else. Her most noticeable feature was her large horns protruding from her head. The horns curved multiple times to form a unique look and were two-toned, the top being emerald and the bottom resembling the shimmering onyx of Naruto's chains. And then there were her eyes. Eyes that seemed as deep as the depths of the sea, maybe even deeper.
"I'm sorry, Tiamet-Okaasan. I meant no disrespect by being away for so long. I should have at least sent you a message through one of your servants. I am back for a little while showing some of our new friends the ropes and getting their training started." Naruto seemed like he was genuinely worried for the first time.
Zabuza and Haku hadn't known him for long, but Naruto seemed unfazed by all that came before him. Now, there was this woman who seemed to make them all nervous. The woman now identified as Tiamet walked up and grabbed the boy, wrapping him and a strong-looking hug.
"Awww it's alright. I know my little prince has been out making his place in the world, but you are here now so it's time for some mother-son time."
"But wait the b-" Zabuza and Haku were forced to their knees by a pressure unlike any they felt before. Unlike Naruto, unlike Sasuke. It felt like the sheer weight on them would have driven them mad.
"Naruto-Kun, it's time for us to go now. Say goodbye to your friends for now." Tiamet's voice sounded as if multiple females were talking at once. She turned around and began to walk away, while Naruto was still wrapped in her arms.
"Malice-san, Sasuke! You guys are in charge till I get back. Sasuke is prepared to handle if my clone pops. Get Zabuza and Haku started training. I'll be back in about a week or so. Oh and don't forget to-" Naruto gave his orders to his cabinet as they watched on. Tiamet began to sink into the ground as if it were made of water and eventually sank in completely, along with Naruto before he could finish speaking.
Sasuke sighed and got up, with the rest doing the same.
"How much crazy stuff happens around you guys?! I mean, what the fuck was that!? And who the fuck, or should I say what the fuck was that?!" Zabuza didn't think his heart could take any more of this sudden stress. It was then that Sasuke answered.
"That is one of his majesty's summons. Namely the most powerful one. Probably the most powerful being you've ever seen, but now isn't the time for you to worry about that. It's time for us to get stronger."
Chapter 6 End
Author's notes: Hello everyone thanks for reading the 6th Chapter of Naruto: Paradox!
Thanks once again to all who reviewed! I hope I did all the characters involved justice. I know many won't like the fact that Haku came out on top but I hope my explanation helps people understand the idea I had in mind. Kakashi is an amazing shinobi but has been taken by surprise before.
Before anyone kills me, yes the Tiamat I placed in my story shares the appearance of the Tiamet from the Fate series, but that is to help with the visualization for the story. She will have some similar lore but Naruto won't be summoning world busters out of the blue. She will be scaled towards the world as well as the summonings associated with the contract.
And finally, I wanted to write something for myself. One of the main reasons I finally decided to write and publish was because of my amazing girlfriend who was constantly pushing me to do what she knew I wanted to for so long but was too scared to. The reason I can write about a boy becoming a King is that that has been my experience with her in my life. She has made me feel like royalty every day and I wouldn't trade that for the world!
If there is anything that you, the reader would like me to address or do to enhance or better the reading experience please let me know. Again, thank you all for reading, and have a Paradoxical day!
