Hunters of Telos
Featuring the Eighth Doctor and Asla
Traavia Jensen advanced through the abandoned ruins of Telos City, swinging her ion rifle from side to side carefully. She had seen herself through the Dalek War and now she had found herself in the midst of the Time War. She sometimes even wondered why the Daleks even wanted war. She wished that they could see the pointlessness of constant conflict.
"Traavia, I'm detecting two lifeforms heading towards you." the voice of her Commander, Lakis Streva, crackled through her comms unit, "If they are Daleks, fire at will. Use the ion detonator if you wish."
"Thank you, Commander." Traavia replied, checking that she still had the ion detonator in her pocket. She felt the small silver trigger stick and smiled, knowing that she was covered in case the Daleks were too tough to handle.
Suddenly, a man in a battered blue coat, beige shirt and brown boots and a young woman in a grey t-shirt and a brown leather jacket, with a vortex manipulator on her wrist and a blaster in each of her hands ran towards her. Traavia aimed her ion rifle at the two strangers and noticed that they instantly put their hands up, with the woman placing her blasters into their respective holsters.
"Don't shoot." the man insisted, "We haven't done anything wrong. I'm the Doctor and this is Asla and we simply want to know where we are."
"You're in Telos City." Traavia replied, watching the Doctor become afraid, "And I'm Traavia Jensen. My commander sent me here to hunt for any Daleks that may be lurking in the ruins of this city."
Asla had also noticed the horrified look on the Doctor's face. Something was going on.
"Have you been here before?" she asked him, knowing that the answer would probably be 'yes'.
"Oh yes." the Doctor replied, with the fear present in his voice, "But there weren't any Daleks on this planet the last time I visited."
"What was here then?"
"Cybermen."
Underneath Telos City, something unusual was going on. Dozens of Cybermen lay in chamber after chamber, with rows of hibernation chambers extending into infinity.
"There are intruders in the city." a deep electronic voice whispered to each hibernating Cyberman, "You must deal with them at once."
Once the voice had spoken, the chambers began to deactivate and open.
The Cybermen were waking up.
The Doctor had informed Asla and Traavia of his past experiences on Telos and how he had sealed the tomb of the Cybermen a very long time ago.
"But that was years ago." Traavia explained, "Things have moved on."
"Evidently." the Doctor remarked, taking out his sonic screwdriver and scanning the ground, frowning after a few moments.
"What is it?" Asla queried, "Have you found something?"
"Just a sensation in the ground. I think there's something coming, Asla." he said ominously, "I think the Cybermen are coming back."
In the Cyber Tomb, an army of two hundred Cybermen had woken up and were now stood directly beneath Telos City, ready to dig directly upwards and upgrade the intruders that had arrived. The Cyber Controller, a Cyberman with black metal handles and silver metal armour, was ready to lead the charge.
"Controller," one of the sleek silver-armoured Cybermen asked, with its electric buzz of a voice, "shall we begin the attack?"
"Yes. Upgrade the intruders. They must not be allowed to escape." the Cyber Controller responded, placing his glimmering silver gauntlet on the central blue light on his torso and flying upwards. He carved a way through, upwards to the surface and then his Cybermen followed him, ready to fight.
The Doctor had brought Asla and Traavia back to the TARDIS and had unlocked the doors when the Cybermen began to rise out of the ground. They looked at them and advanced towards the travellers. The Doctor shoved Asla and Traavia into the TARDIS and entered the ship himself afterwards, closing the doors behind him.
"Where are we going? And how can this room even be here?" Traavia exclaimed, putting her gun down near an unusual beige coral-like structure. The Doctor ignored her as he ran to the console and activated the dematerialisation control, making the TARDIS wheeze and howl away from Telos.
"Traavia, was there anyone else in Telos City?" he asked, adjusting controls and looking curiously at the scanner screen.
"No. My commander and the rest of my team is on a nearby space station." Traavia explained, "Where are we going now?"
"Well, my people want me to do something for them." he announced, looking at Asla and saying, "Cardinal Ollistra wants to meet us."
"Ollistra? After last time?" Asla mused, commenting, "I don't think you two will get along."
"Yes, my thoughts exactly." the Doctor replied, as he piloted the TARDIS towards Cardinal Ollistra and his new mission for the Time Lords.
