The Scarlet Witch.
Peter sat on the arm of the couch while his Father dressed his right hand for him, his knuckles were already healing due to his mutant ability. But Erik had insisted that his Son's wounds should be cleaned probably in case they got infected, he was in full parent mode. Peter didn't mind, he liked seeing Erik being a good Father to him. It didn't happen often due to Erik living in Paris, but Peter managed to visit him and Charles at weekends when he wasn't needed at the X Mansion.
Wanda was upstairs with her boys, they were hooked up to drips and sleeping soundly in the front bedroom of the house. Monica had left the safety of the house on Ellis Avenue, she wanted to search for her friend Darcy Lewis. She had told them about what had happened outside of Westview after the barrier had expanded, there was more outsiders trapped inside this town now. She was going to bring Vision and Darcy to the house if she found them, they had no idea when Monica planned to return.
Hank had been analysing the liquid in the bottle, he had informed them that it wasn't poisonous which was a relief. But it was toxic though, he had found living organisms in the liquid, it seemed to be plant based. But he was unsure which plant Agnes had used to make the potion, they would need to find out the plant's identity just in case the medical supplies weren't affective.
There was deoxyribonucleic acid in the blood samples he had taken from the boys, he was hundred per cent confident that it was the genetic material found in plants. The atropine and magnesium would clear up the toxins in the boys system, they needed rest for the next few hours. Hank also informed Peter and Erik that there was traces of the X Gene in the twins DNA, it seemed like they may had inherited from Wanda. But she wasn't a mutant by birth which was the confusing part, they all had a lot of questions about where the boys had gotten this gene from since their Father was an android.
Erik was tidying away the leftover bandages while Peter was in the kitchen making some coffee for his teammates, but Hank soon interrupted everyone in the room. He had found out the identity of the plant used in the potion, he was actually quite fascinated with the information he had found. They all gathered together in the living room, they were ready to find out what Hank had learnt about the plant.
" The Wundagore Everbloom!" Hank said.
" A what now?" Peter asked.
"The Wundergore Everbloom is a very rare flower that can only be grown in the shadow-passes of Wundagore Mountain." Hank replied while he paced back and forth in front of the fireplace. " Standard tourist guides to Transia recommend visitors to refrain from buying Everbloom blossoms from local dealers because most of the blossoms in the market place are simply standard roses with dyed petals."
" I've heard of legends about the Wundergore." Erik said before he crossed his arms. " Local Transia gypsy used it in spells, it's a very old practice."
" You've been to Transia?" Peter asked.
" Decades ago, long before you were born." Erik replied.
" It seems like I've still got a lot to learn about you." Peter said.
" Indeed." Erik said.
" Guys, I'm talking here." Hank said, he looked back at the book and sighed to himself. " According to legends, it's possible for a person to have visions of the future by lying a petal of an Everbloom on their tongue. It can allow people to see the future, it's required for the essence of the petal to be consumed twice, first after hunger and second after murder. That is to say, to kill and consume an individual or creature who peviously ate a petal of the Everbloom."
" Wow, that doesn't sound good..." Peter said.
" I agree, it's a very dangerous practice." Hank said.
" Do you think this Agnes had sinster plans for the boys?" Erik asked.
" I'm unsure, but it could be possible." Hank replied.
" The visions you mentioned, do you think she was trying to use the boys to gain information about Wanda?" Peter asked while he looked at his teammates in turn. " I mean Billy is telekinetic, he may have more of a connection with his Mom than Tommy."
" You may be onto something there." Hank said with a slight smile. " There's no stronger bond than a child with their Mother, it's definitely a possibility."
" Do you think we should tell Wanda?" Erik asked, his speaking tone was serious. " She should know what Agnes may have been planning to do with her boys, if I was in her position I would want to know if anyone planned to harm my children... I'd kill them."
" Whoa, vengeful Dad!" Peter said.
" Erm... not just yet, she needs to rest." Hank said before he turned the book around to show Peter. " Have you seen any flowers around the town that look like this?"
Peter zoomed over to Hank and took the book from him, he raised an eyebrow while he pointed at the picture in the book. He told his friend that he had seen these flowers growing in Agnes's front yard. Hank informed Peter that he may need a sample of the petals to study them more for a fall back plan, he told them that they may be able to use the poison against Agnes if necessary.
" Do you want me to swing by her place to steal you one?" Peter asked.
" Not right now, it's safer here sInce I placed the Labradorite around the premises." Hank said before he took the book from Peter. " Agnes may be looking for you, Wanda and the boys. I gave Monica a piece of Labradorite to carry with her and a walkie talkie, but she may not have the advantages of being inside the house than you four."
" What's Labradorite?" Peter asked.
" It's a protection crystal, they're very precious in some cultures." Hank replied.
" Groovy." Peter smiled.
" Peter, you should go and check on Wanda." Erik said, he glanced up at the ceiling before he returned his gaze back towards his Son. " Take her some coffee and question her, she may have more information about Agnes since she's known her longer than us."
" But do it in a polite and gentle manner, she needs to trust us." Hank said.
" Polite is my middle name, I'll be gentle." Peter said.
" Do you even have a middle name?" Erik asked.
" I do, but we never talk about it." Peter replied.
Peter smiled at his Father before he zoomed back to the kitchen, he wasn't about to tell him that his middle name was Django. His Mom had named him after her Father, he had passed away when she was eight years old. Peter took two of the coffee mugs from the counter side and carried them upstairs, he had no idea what he was going to say to Wanda though. He would have to think on feet, it was lucky for him that he had the gift of the gab.
Walking long the landing Peter noticed a purple shimmer from outside of the end landing window, he had noticed it happen a few times since he had arrived here with Wanda. It could be the protective crystals or Agnes patrolling the streets of Westview for Wanda and the boys, he just hoped that they remained anonymous for now. Peter stopped outside the door where Wanda was located, he knocked three times on the door before he opened it. He peered his head around the door, the boys were sleeping soundly in the double bed. Wanda was sitting in an armchair near the window, her knees were tucked against chest while her gaze lingered on the window.
Wanda looked lost in her own thoughts, she looked tired and uneasy. Peter knocked on the door once again which caught her attention this time, he stepped into the room and showed her the coffee mugs. Her gaze lingered on him while she placed her feet down on the floor, she told him to close the door behind him.
" It looks like you could do with a coffee." Peter said before he quietly closed the door with his foot. " How are the boys doing?"
" They're finally asleep, the treatment your friend as given them seems to be working." Wanda replied, her gaze returned to her skeeping children. " Please thank Hank for me, I'm so grateful for his help."
" I told you Hank was smart, but you can thank him yourself in the morning." Peter said.
Peter carried the two mugs over to Wanda, he gave her one of the mugs before he said down on the edge of the double bed. He wrapped his hands around his mug while he looked at the twins over his shoulder, they did seem to be improving. Their breathing was normal and they had colour in their cheeks, they were lucky that they had found the boys when they did. Peter's thoughts were interrupted by Wanda's voice, he immediately turned his attention towards her.
" Who are you?" Wanda asked.
" My name is Peter Maximoff, I'm from a different reality than yours." Peter replied before he took a sip of his coffee. " It's kind of hard to explain how I got here, it's a long story."
" We've got time, tell me everything." Wanda said, she learned in closer toward him. " How did you get here? Where did you and your friends come from?"
An airy laugh escaped Peter's lips, he wasn't going to tell her everything about himself and his teammates. But he would tell her how he had gotten inside Westview, he began by telling her about Xaviers School For Gifted Youngster and how someone had pulled him out of his reality to help her. She seemed intrigued about the school, she soon asked him about this Sorcerer Supreme she had heard him and Hank talking about in the living room. Peter didn't know much about Doctor Stephen Strange, but he knew Stephen was very powerful.
" I've only ever met him once, but he seems to know a lot about your situation." Peter said while he made eye contact with her. " Professor Charles Xavier implanted your memories of your deceased brothers into my mind, he somehow gained them by connecting his telepathic ability with Doctor Stephen Strange's mind. It's not the first time Charles had manipulated the minds of people, but it had to be done so I could play my given role as your Brother."
" He sounds powerful, this Charles Xavier." Wanda said.
" You've got no idea what he's capable of doing, but he's one of the good guys." Peter said with a reassuring smile. " So basically I arrived outside of Westview, if you haven't noticed I'm fast. My mutant ability is speed, I gained access into your television show world by breaking through your wiggly woo barrier."
" How is that even possible?" Wanda asked.
" I guess you're not the only powerful one around these parts." Peter replied, he couldn't help but give Wanda a cocky smile. " My Father and Hank were brought into Westview through a portal, they have been here for two days now. They have been watching you on television, they're here to help you too. Just like Monica, we come in peace."
" And Stephen Strange, where his he?" Wanda asked.
" No idea, he seems to show up when I'm not around." Peter replied. " Monica as gone to try and find Vision, her friend Darcy Lewis was sucked into your world too. I'm not sure when she'll get back, but I'll tell you when she returns."
" Do you know if Vision is safe?" Wanda asked.
" No idea, I've not seem him since Halloween." Peter replied.
Wanda sighed to herself before she returned her gaze towards the window, her thoughts were else where. Peter couldn't really tell her anything else, his attention was drawn to the window too when the purple shimmer lit up the bedroom for a few seconds. But his attention was soon caught by Wanda, she was the one who broke the silence between them. Her gaze was fixed on him now, there were tears forming in her eyes.
" How can I trust you?" Wanda asked.
" I don't think you've got any other choice." Peter replied.
" I can't lose my boys..." Wanda said.
" You're not going to lose them, they're getting better now." Peter said, he reached his hand towards her and wrapped his fingers around her hand. " I know I'm not your Brother, but I won't let anything happen to your kids. I'm actually quite fond of them, they've grown on me."
" Do you have children?" Wanda asked.
" I've got a school full of students, that's enough for me." Peter replied with a slight smile. " I'm a big Brother too, I've got a younger Sister. I kind of helped my Mom to raise her since it was just the three of us, I use to babysit her while my Mom was working her two jobs. It was never easy because I was only thirteen when my Sister was born, but I'd do anything for my family."
" Where is your Sister now?" Wanda asked.
" She's back in my reality, her name is Lorna." Peter replied.
" You must miss her..." Wanda said.
" I do, it's been ages since I last saw her." Peter said, he lowered his gaze for a moment. " May be when I get back to my reality I should visit my Mom and Sister, I should make time for them between my workload."
" You should, if I ever had the chance to see my Brother again for a brief second I would jump at the opportunity. " Wanda said with faint smile. " Family is important, I won't let Agnes take my husband or my babies away from me."
" What does Agnes want with you?" Peter asked.
" The magic I possess is called choas magic, she told me of my forthcoming." Wanda replied while she let go of his hand. " Agnes wants my magic, she wants to absorb my chaos magic and claim it as her own. She wanted to make a deal with me before you and Monica showed up, my magic for the world I have created."
" Wait, what do you mean by forthcoming?" Peter asked.
" There's book called the Darkhold, it's in Agnes's possession." Wanda said before she looked down into her coffee mug. " She was lecturing me about the legend of the Scarlet Witch, a being destined to destroy the world. Forged into existence possessing magical abilities surpassing those of the Sorcerer Supreme."
" Wow, that sounds heavy..." Peter said.
" Agnes told me I've always possessed this magic, but I don't know if that's true." Wanda said with a sigh. " She played with my mind, she showed me memories from my past. The explosion at my childhood home and the undetonated bomb, the experiments at the laboratory. I'm beginning to question myself, I willing volunteered to be experimented on years ago by HYDRA. I thought I had developed my powers through those experiments, but what if I had always possed them from birth?"
" Being gifted is nothing to be scared about, I've grownup with my mutation." Peter replied, he kept his gaze on her. " Yeah it was tough, but I coped. You just need guidance, I think the Professor could help you."
" What we really need is the Darkhold." Wanda said.
" I don't think that's a good idea..." Peter said.
" Why not?" Wanda asked.
" It's outside the house for a start, you could get hurt." Peter replied.
" My life does matter, my children come first!" Wanda said.
" Your boys won't have any life if they lose you, they need their Mom!" Peter said.
Wanda looked up at Peter from her coffee mug, she told him he was right. But she still wanted to get her hands on the Darkhold, it may hold the answers they seeked. She wanted to understand this choas magic she wielded, if she learnt how to channel it properly she may be able stop Agnes from taking her family away from her. Peter knew Wanda wasn't completely wrong, but if they left the safety of their hideout Agnes may be waiting for them. It would put everyone in danger, he didn't want Agnes to know their location right now since the boys were still recovering. Their conversation was interrupted by Tommy asking for his Mom, he had woken up without them knowing about it. Wanda and Peter glanced at each other before they turned their full attention towards him, they just hoped Tommy hadn't heard any of their conversation.
" It's okay sweetie, I'm here." Wanda said.
Wanda gave Peter a slight smile before she headed over Tommy, she placed her coffee mug on the bedside cabinet and sat down next to Son. Peter watched them over his shoulder, he smiled to himself while Wanda smoothed down Tommy's hair and reassured him that he was safe here. Billy was still sleeping, but it seemed like Tommy was fully awake for now.
" Mom, I'm hungry." Tommy said.
" I'll make him something to eat." Peter said, he got up from the bed and turned around to face them. " I'll see what's in the refrigerator, surely there's something editable left in this kitchen. If not you may have to have potato chip sandwich with ketchup, it's a favourite snack of mine."
" Whoa, that sounds so good!" Tommy said.
" Thank you, Peter." Wanda said.
" Sit tight, I'll be right back." Peter said.
Peter necked the rest of his coffee back before he left the bedroom, he closed the door quietly behind him. The purple light shimmered outside of the window once again which caught his attention, he walked over to the landing's window and peered through the gap in the curtains. Ellis Avenue was motionless and dark, he could see a few lights on in some of the houses across the street. He had no idea where this Darkhold was located, he was also worried about Monica since they hadn't heard back off her yet. They just had to sit tight until the morning, then they would devise a plan between them and venture into the unknown witches domain beneath Agnes's house.
