"GOOD MORNING LISTENERS! ARE YOU READY FOR TODAY'S EVENTS?!" Present Mic began from his booth in the stadium owned by UA for the yearly event UA does, known as the UA Sports Festival, the First Year Festival now underway. The response he got from the audience was a loud round of cheers, which made him smile even more than he already way, despite how worried he was for a number of reasons.
"Well get ready, because we're about to begin with the festivities!" Present Mic said, before turning off his mic, and looking over at Aizawa, who he "convinced" to sit up here with him for the festival, Aizawa having some of his bandages off now so you could see at least one of his eyes, and also so his arms were free, though they had bandages around them still, but he didn't have his arms wrapped like he was a Villager from Minecraft.
"You think he'll hold back?" Present Mic asked Aizawa, referring to Katsuku.
"Honestly… no," Aizawa said, staring off into space for some reason.
Present Mic was concerned and decided to pry. "So… what happened? You're never this quiet, or spaced out."
"That kid, gave me hell," Aizawa answered, thinking back to last week.
"When?!" Present Mic asked.
"So you remember when you walked into the Teacher's Lounge and I was watching the videos for the battles between 1A and 2A?" Aizawa asked Mic.
"Yeah," Mic said, remembering. "You were watching the video of Katsuku's match."
"Well get this," Aizawa began. "He deliberately smacked one of the Second Year female's ass during the training session when she was on top of him-"
"Phrasing!" Present Mic said randomly.
"-and then he knocked her out," Aizawa continued. "Obviously, I did give him Detention that should've lasted until now."
"...why do I get the feeling you let him off early?" Present Mic asked.
"Because he kept bugging me by being an ass to me," Aizawa finished. "Seriously! The boy kept asking if I was gay or in a relationship with you and Nemuri at the same time! Like, what the fuck?! And don't get me started with what he was watching on his phone."
"What was he watching?" Mic decided to ask.
"Something with some stupid bug man and his pet frog," Aizawa said, while Present Mic's jaw dropped. "It was almost as bad as when you forced me to watch Dragon Ball Abridged with you for a whole week."
"Even I know that what Katsuku was watching was crazy and stupid!" Mic said. "Not to mention what they did to Zarbon…"
"...let's just start the festival before I decide to strangle someone," Aizawa told Mic, before Mic scooted his chair away from Aizawa by a few inches while giving him a sideways glance.
"Yeah…" Present Mic cleared his throat, before turning back on the mic. "ALRIGHT! ITS TIME TO INTRODUCE OUR COMPETITORS!"
Katsuku was simply smiling as he walked onto the field in the stadium, excited for being able to get a chance to fight so many people. He was hoping there would be a free-for-all event and everyone would come and fight him. The thought of it made him all giddy, something he never felt as Izuku or Katsuki.
Whatever the case, he was ready to fight and win.
He soon got a glance at all of the other classes, and immediately conducted a basic understanding of how this would go so far. The two Hero Course classes would advance to the next round if the occupation for the next round was over 40, and maybe one or two students from other courses, though one student from the support course looked like she might make it too. Nobody else caught his eye though.
"And now Katsuku Midorigo will present the Student Pledge!" Came from their on the field's announcer, Midnight, which snapped Katsuku from his thoughts.
Wait, what?
"Huh?" Katsuku questioned, which made Kirishima give him a slight tap with his elbow.
"You gotta present the Student Pledge," Kirishima said.
"...well fuck," Katsuku said, not expecting this. "Gonna have to wing it." He then raised his hands. Kirishima was confused before he Katsuku flung himself into the air via a explosion when he thrusted his hands to the ground, and then he sent himself at the microphone with another one, sticking an epic landing in at the same time while grabbing the mic stand.
"Show off," a Gen Ed student said, a few of the students nodding and muttering their own insults and putting in their own two cents.
Katsuku stood up and slammed the mic stand into the ground as if it were a staff, and he turned back to where all of the students had gathered. He didn't know exactly what to say, so he decided to say what was on his mind.
"I don't care if we're from different courses," he began. "And I don't care if we're from different classes. In this event, we're all rivals, and we're all equals." He narrowed his eyes into a small glare. "I intend to put up a fight and make the title of winner hard to get in this festival, even if I was handicapped because the teachers thought it would make it 'fair' to the other courses." He gripped the stand harder. "YOU HEAR ME?! I'M GOING TO GO PLUS ULTRA REGARDLESS OF WHAT MY POSITION IS! SO YOU'RE EITHER GOING TO GO ALL IN, OR YOU'RE GONNA FAIL MISERABLY AND WON'T EVEN MAKE IT TO THE BOUTS AT THE VERY END!" Katsuku then pointed at the other students, glaring all the more harder now. "SO SHOW ME THE PLUS ULTRA FROM ALL OF YOU DAMN EXTRAS, OR YOU CAN KISS ANY CHANCE OF GETTING INTO THE HERO COURSE, GETTING NOTICED, OR GETTING RECOGNIZED GOODBYE IF THAT'S WHAT YOU'RE AFTER! GO ALL IN OR FAIL!" He then slammed the mic stand harder into the ground and made a small circular dent into the cement. "NOW GO ABOVE AND BEYOND, DAMN IT! PLUS FUCKING ULTRA!" He let go off the mic stand, before walking back to the students, and placing himself right back next to Kirishima and Uraraka, who were who he was standing with originally.
Everyone was left rather speechless from his speech, but then the mic stand fell apart, and Midnight had swallowed the lump in her throat. "Al-... Alright then. L-Let's begin the first event."
"Dude…" Kirishima whispered to Katsuku. "That was a nice speech."
"Then why do I get the feeling I fucked up somewhere?" Katsuku asked.
Kirishima was silent before asking, "Do you have Stage Fright?"
"N-No," Katsuku said, dismissing it though a bead of sweat was coming down from his head. "I don't have St-Stage Fright. What kind of question is that?"
"He so has Stage Fright," Kaminari whispered to Kirishima.
"Well, nice to know he has some form of weakness," Kirishima whispered back.
"I can still hear you…" Katsuku growled, his anger leaking through a bit.
"And the first event shall be an obstacle course!" Midnight said, trying not to laugh a bit since she heard what all three of them said.
"..." The three of the boys went silent before Katsuku said, "Well, I'll see you boys in the next event should you actually get that far."
"What?" Kaminari and Kirishima questioned at the same time, before Katsuku immediately walked away to the tunnel.
"Now, let the countdown begin!" Midnight said, already sensing where this was going as Katsuku took place at the start of the line.
"Three…" Katsuku popped his neck, and yawned, which made the few Gen Ed students who were at the front think he was being cocky.
"Two…" Katsuku smiled, before explosions rippled across his palms.
"One…"
"I choose this one," Katsuku said, before looking at where in the stands All Might sat, his three parents also with him.
"GO!"
"And I plan to win with it!" Katsuku shouted, before sending himself flying forward and shot out of the tunnel, and began fire more explosions so he could get farther ahead, smiling as he avoided a streak of ice that shot put and froze most of the students in place as Todoroki shot forward as well, using his ice to glide across the ground.
"I won't lose to you," Todoroki said to Katsuku as he almost caught up with him.
"I know," Katsuku replied. He turned and landed before aiming his hands at Todoroki. "That's why I plan on taking you out!" An explosion formed in his hands; a explosion that Todoroki wouldn't be able to dodge from how close they were. "STUN GRENADE!" He shot the explosion, which blinded Shoto. "See ya!" Katsuku then used his explosions and immediately left, before stopping again as he saw a bunch of robots. "Oh shit."
"Welcome to the first obstacle!" Present Mic said. "Robo Inferno!"
"That is a very poor choice of a name since they were just here to begin with, and they're not coming from anywhere, so it's more like Robo Appearance," Katsuku said to Mic, unaware that Mic could hear him.
"Well I'm sorry that I didn't name this event, and that Nezu did," Present Mic said to Katsuku, which made the boy jump.
"Fuck, they can hear me?!" Katsuku questioned. "Is there a mic on my weights?!"
"He's wearing weights?!" The remaining students that weren't stuck and that were close to him questioned.
"First, no. We have a drone in the air," Present Mic answered. "Second, yes we have weights on him! His Quirks are strong as hell! Though it does seem like the weights aren't having an affect…"
"I have no idea what you're talking about," Katsuku said, before blasting the head off of a robot, which he recognized as a 3-Point Robot from the Entrance Exam from his memories from his Bakugo side. He began running forward before he looked up and saw a 0-Pointer, standing right by a bunch of other 0-Pointers. "...well shit."
Katsuku then decided the best course of action was to dip. And by dip, he means getting the fuck out of there and blasting forward. So he unleashed the biggest explosion he could before shooting past all of the 0-Pointers. As he shot past them, his eyes widened before he quickly placed his feet onto the ground, before face planting and beginning to roll before coming to the edge of a cliff, and almost fell down it but he grabbed a rope just in time. "That, was close."
"Katsuku has made it to the second obstacle! The Fall! There is a net at the bottom, so if you touch it, you're out of the game! Also, there are a lot of foam blocks to cushion your fall since our stunt runners said that the net hurts a lot!" Present Mic announced. "One of them even broke their leg!"
"Sucks to be him," Katsuku muttered, before slowly coming back to the edge of the cliff and climbing back up, before he looked up and saw Monoma of 1B. "..."
"This is the end of the line, you arrogant dick!" Monoma monologued. "Today shall mark the day of Class 1B's rule, and proof that we are bet-" Katsuku grabbed his leg and threw him down the cliff. "-teerrrrrrrr!"
"I hate him a lot, and was kinda tempted to punch him in the balls," Katsuku said to no one in particular before climbing back up the cliff and standing up, before beginning to use his explosions to hop from pillar to pillar. He made it to the other side, and he turned around to look and see that a large portion of the students had made it to The Fall. "Well, I guess they're finally catching up." Katsuku then began to run to the exit, before noticing a bunch of lumps in the ground and he stopped. He looked to a part of the course right within boundaries, before grabbing a rock and throwing it at one of the lumps, which exploded.
"And this is the final obstacle! The Minefield!" Present Mic announced. "The mines only hurt a little though, and are more or less just disorientating. Nothing extreme like the last two obstacles."
Katsuku smiled. "Easy." He was tempted to just leap over with his explosions, but his arms still ached from releasing the massive ones from earlier. So, he came up with a better idea that seemed more fun.
And then he leapt above the mines.
Saying that Ochaco didn't think that Katsuku was amazing and unique, was an understatement, since she admired his unpredictability and randomnes, despite how predictable and subtle he was.
Of course she was surprised when Deku had suddenly fused with Bakugo in the middle of their training session. In fact, she feared that the school was under attack, which it luckily wasn't.
He was kind yet arrogant, protective and violent, and he still was so much like Deku, it made her realize how much he hadn't changed. He was just way more confident though, so that was nice.
Back to the present, Ochaco was running hoping to get somewhere in the top 20 or so, when she saw a bunch of the student gathered in a group, watching the path ahead which confused her. As she ran up in front of them, that's when she saw it. Or more or less… him.
Leaping across the minefield, landing in between the minds, the graceful and elegant dance of Katsuku as he danced across the field was simply breathtaking somehow, as if an angel had entered the field and was gracing them with their appearance in the form of a dance. It was like Katsuku was a ballerina, but during a few of the jumps he had preformed, there were evident of fighting motions, from the throw of a punch which he landed on the hand he threw a punch with, to performing round house kicks of which he landed on the opposite foot. When he had finally traversed the whole minefield, he had somersaulted and landed on both feet, his hands going towards the sky like a V, before he stood up, taking a serious looking stance, despite the fact he was standing up normally. He had turned around and looked at the crowd that had gathered on the opposite side of the minefield, but to Ochaco, it looked like he was looking at her.
Then, he simply ran to the finish line, and claimed first place while everyone then regained their bearings. Ochaco took this as an opportunity now that she had recovered from that disorientating moment to remove the gravity from herself, and had then kicked off of the person behind her — which was probably Kirishima from the yell that she heard — and she crossed the minefield quickly. She had a rough landing before Ochaco had ventured to across the finish line, getting somewhere high for sure. Her mind was racing as she thought back to the Dance of the Fusion as she decided to call it, before she felt herself blushing. And she knew why.
She was in love with Katsuku.
A/N: I hate Monoma for some reason. Also, I feel like Katsuku just wanted to fuck around at the minefield since he was so ahead, so that's why he did a dance, before doing a little reference at the end, though no one will understand it. Unless you can combo X-X-X-X-X-Y-Y-Y. Though I don't think anyone will understand.
