Chapter 6

-Levi's pov-

The following morning, I grabbed my ODM gear and sharpened the blades before heading out. As I walked down the hallway to Hange's room, scouts greeted me, and I nodded in response. I stood in front of Hange's door and knocked on it. While I waited for her to open the door, I quickly fixed my hair and tidying up my uniform.

"Good morning Levi!" Hange exclaimed when she opened the door.

"Come on in" she brightly smiled, and I walked right in.

"We better get going real soon if we want to choose a titan to capture." I stated while I looked around her room as if I'm here for inspection.

"Ah yea I know, I just have to make sure I have everything and then make a stop at the arsenal site." Hange grabbed some last-minute stuff and we headed out.

We both walked over to the horse stables and tended to our horses as we prepared them for today's tough task. As I saddled my horse, I watched Hange do the same and admired her for a bit before finally leading my horse out. I grabbed some carrots and water to feed my horse when Hange spoke out to me.

"Well, ill be off to gather some weapons and nets!", she waved at me and quickly rode off.

While I waited for her return, I tended more to my horse then stood by the water well. Soon enough, Hange was back with everything needed and horse cart. I walked over to it and looked at the stock we had.

"You think this will be enough?" I questioned her with one eyebrow raised.

"Well it may not seem a lot but its enough for an abnormal titan, trust the expert" she smirked as she pushed up her glasses which sparkled in the sun.

I sighed and leaded us to the wall gates where we prepared ourselves to embrace what was past this point. I turned to look to Hange for her reassurance and she gave me a thumbs up. We then rode off into the vast field as the sun rose into the sky. No titan was in sight yet, so we went further past a few empty post-apocalyptic houses and decided to take a break while we created a plan. After that, we started up again and kept on a look out for an abnormal titan. I turned to look at Hange to see the wind run through her brown shiny hair and a tiny smile emerged from my face.

"Levi! There's an abnormal over by those small hills." Hange shouted as I snapped back to reality.

"huh? Oh, lets shift our course" I said while leading us toward the abnormal's directions.

"Alright, keep an eye out for any other titan that is in our path or near this titan. We want to make sure we get a clean capture and avoid any mishaps." I instructed strictly to Hange knowing she can be quite careless.

"Aye aye Levi" Hange replied.

"Oh boy, I'm about to capture an abnormal titan!" Hange starts drooling as I weirdly look at her.

I watch her as she speeds up to get closer and immediately start to regret my decision. I hope she doesn't do something stupid. Meanwhile I keep watch of any danger as she's too busy fangirling over a stupid titan. I soon realized there weren't as many trees nearby which would be harder to pull off, but this will be the last titan ill capture for her…hopefully.

"Hange, slow down, you might alert the titan too soon!" I yelled out to her to get her attention.

"Oh, you worry too much Le-" she immediately got cut off when a titan attacked from her right. Luckily, the titan didn't catch her in its hands, but it completely knocked over the horse and cart. I quickly yanked the reins back to slow down my horse and I witness what happened. Where in the world did this titan come from? I swear I didn't see any when I was surveilling the environment.

"HANGE!" I zoomed over to her as I leaned over on my horse to grab her before the titan stood up. Hange sat up straight while holding onto me and nervously thanked me.

"You. Could've. Gotten. Yourself. KILLED" I shouted at her with a pissed off face.

-Hange's pov-

I can't believe I almost got caught by a titan…I mean there has been a few instances, but I was fully prepared. I let myself be so careless despite how dangerous it was out here. It wasn't like me to let my guard down where I'm most vulnerable but today felt so different. I felt some sort of connection with Levi last night leading up to now. He acts somewhat different compared to everyone else and makes me the happiest person despite our situation.

Even though Levi just scolded me now in the most aggressive tone ever, I still remained happy on the inside because of how protective he was being towards me. Almost everyone I know is terrified of Levi but to me, he's like a partner in crime, I can't ever be scared of him unless he's in absolute rage mode.

"I'm sorry Levi…" I replied while wrapping my hands around his torso.

"Sorry? Titans won't be on their knees for us anytime soon. I hope you can get that into your thick skull." He sharply replied.

We headed on back home and didn't go back to get our supplies. We wasted time and inventory, but I knew Levi wouldn't go back if I asked him too.
