Hey everyone! Been a while, but here's another update for you all! But before we begin, I've got to get the reviews!
1TGN: He's obviously still a bit shaken by the whole experience. While Sonic is his family, he's not exactly very knowledgeable with this sort of thing. Knuckles would certainly have the most information about it of all of them! Their related pasts as well is certainly a connection between them neither of them had really considered. But I think it'll be interesting to explore what happens to them next!
Perturbo: The original was certainly all over the place, which is why I'm very happy to have a consistent narrative this time around! Knuckles will certainly have more of a role to play now, as their pasts are going to inevitably affect their futures.
HavalTheRock: Thank you!
AndTails: I'm hoping to give him a much more pronounced role this time around! Their mutual bond is something that I really want to explore, but we'll have to see where it goes!
Guardian of 2fort: Thanks! I know it was a bit short, but ultimately necessary for what I've got planned! Hopefully this chapter satisfies you!
Ebonite27: Thank you so much for you comment!
That's everyone! Let's get started!
The Kitsune Legacy
Revelation
Tails sighed, he'd had his newfound powers for a few days now, and they'd already come in handy. He'd used them to visualize the parts he'd needed for the Tornado, painting the bottom of the aircraft with images of how everything connected together in his mind. The blue glow emanating from his hands and eyes was a dead giveaway for Sonic as he descended the stairs.
"Hey Tails, what you up to?"
"I've just been working on the Tornado! You wanna see what I've got?"
"Sure!" The hedgehog answered, lying down on his back and scooting himself underneath the plane.
"Alright, so," Tails began, the blue glow enveloping his eyes and hands once more. "I've got plans to replace this whole area under-"
The kitsune was interrupted by the sound of the doorbell. He bolted upright to answer it, only to bang his head on the metal underbelly above him.
"Owwwww." He groaned, rubbing his temples.
"You alright?" Sonic asked,
already having gotten out from underneath the plane. "That didn't sound too great."
"I'm fine, just gonna have a bruise tomorrow." The kit answered, pulling himself out and to his feet.
The duo made their way upstairs to the door, where they found Amy knocking. Tails answered, "Amy? What's going on?"
"Eggman seems to be back at it again, I figured I'd let you know in case you wanted to test out those new powers of yours."
"Well, whatda ya say we kick Egghead's butt?" Sonic answered, "Plus, I wanna see just what you can do with those powers. You up for it?"
"You bet I am!"
Sonic smiled and the two of them bolted off, heading toward downtown, where they would confront their nemesis.

Eggman was having much more fun then he should be, terrorizing the city was just so exciting! Why he didn't do this more often, he didn't know.
Suddenly, he was knocked out of his thoughts by a jolt on the quadrapedal machine he was piloting, looking around for the cause, he quickly spotted the cobalt colored thorn in his side.
"Ah, Sonic…" He smirked, "I was quite wondering when you'd show up. Where's your squad of friends you always bring along with you?"
"Right behind ya." The hedgehog commented, letting a smile cross his face as he said it.
The doctor turned around, only to find himself face to face with a pair of blue eyes and orange fur. He quickly jumped back in alarm, only to blink and discover that the fox who had been there just moments earlier was gone. There was no trace of the animal that he had just seen moments ago.
Searching around frantically, the scientist felt another impact near the base of his machine, sensors instantly detected the information and relayed it to the cockpit where he sat. He turned his attention in the direction the blue hedgehog was running. Priming the built in blaster cannons to fire the moment that the hedgehog entered range.
The charged energy left the barrel, seemingly impacting directly where the hedgehog was, kicking up a small cloud of dust and debris, along with a strange flash of blue light.
Suddenly, not one but three Sonics emerged from the cloud and leapt at the machine, striking it again. While also leaving the scientist dumbfounded. How was it possible to have three distinct Sonics here?
"Alright hedgehog enough with your games. I think it's about time you explained. Clearly there's something you're not showing."
"Oh I'm not hiding anything doc, but let's just say that one of my friends is."
"Let me guess, that miserable little mutant of yours?"
As if on queue, the fox materialized out of the air next to Sonic, a bright blue glow emanating from his eyes and dancing off of his hands. Even with the new found appearance, Eggman could still make out a smirk crossing his face.
"Curious," The scientist remarked. "It would seem we have a bit of a new development when it comes to your friend here. No matter, I'll still stomp the both of you into dust!"
As if on queue, the kitsune seemed to split into two independent copies, which then split again, and again. Until the illusionary copies were able to completely surround the mech. Eggman angrily fired at the group, only to be met with the same flashes of blue light as the laser blasts passed straight through the projections.
Exclaiming in anger, he was quickly met with yet another strike to the mech, this time severely damaging one of its leg supports. Without its ability to remain upright, the doctor ejected and flew off on his own, frustrated, but also curious. How had the fox acquired such abilities, and more importantly, what weaknesses did it have…

"Nice job Tails! Really showed him who'd boss!" Sonic cheered, giving the fox a pat on the back.
The blue glow faded from the kitsune's eyes, as the illusionary copies of himself faded from existence. Before he promptly collapsed into Sonic's arms, panting heavily from exhaustion.
"You alright bud?" Sonic asked, a bit of concern leaking through his normally stoic tone.
"Yeah I- I'm fine. Just took a lot out of me…"
"Do you need to lay down for a bit or-"
"I'll be fine. Just need a second."
Sonic pulled the fox up to his feet and allowed him to lean against him in order to catch his breath. Eventually, he was seemingly back to his normal self.
"Alright well using those powers for too long takes a lot out of me. Good to know." The kit commented after finally catching his breath.
"You still kicked Eggman's butt! I mean did you see the look on his face?"
"Yeah! He looked so confused! I've never seen him like that before!"
The two shared a quick laugh before Sonic continued, "Something tells me these new powers of yours are going to be super helpful in dealing with not just Egghead, but anything that gets thrown our way! What do ya say? Happy about these powers just yet?"
"You bet I am! That was so much fun! I can't wait to try it out again!"
"Took the words right out of my mouth little buddy! What do ya say we head back home to celebrate?"
"Sure!"
The two darted back toward their home, while they were enjoying themselves, neither were quite aware of what events the two of them had set in motion. Ones that would change their lives forever...
-X-
"Blast that stupid rodent and his mutant friend! Dealing with them is one thing, but now you're telling me the freak has some sort of magic!?"
"Magic how so?" Orbot asked curiously.
"Projections or something! I'm not even sure! What happened since the last time we met? What could have changed?"
The doctor thought over his own question for a bit before his brain lit up with an idea.
"That's it! The temple! From the other day! They must have found something there!"
Content in his answer, the scientist jumped out of his chair and made his way to his personal hovercraft. Traveling toward the temple where he had been thwarted the other day. Orbot and Cubot had decided to tag along as well.
"Are you so sure about this boss?" Orbot asked, "The temple certainly predates the fox by quite some time."
"I'm certain there's something there. I just must have missed it the other day, but no longer. I will get to the bottom of this, mark my words."
As the craft came within view of the temple, the scientist began to pilot it around, canvassing the exterior for anything of interest. There were a few carvings dotting its surface, but they'd been heavily worn away by time and the elements.
"Perhaps I'd have a better chance inside…" He wondered to himself. Landing his craft and making his way inside the abandoned structure. He found exactly the object of his search, more carvings, and this time in much better condition.
He eventually after wandering for a bit, found his way to a set of descending stairs. Making his way down, he eventually came to a wall covered in intricate arcane carvings. Situated in the center of these carvings was a circular dark blue sapphire, not much smaller then his palm. Ancient runes of sorts sat around the gem, giving the whole room a sort of ritualistic aura about it.
Eventually, the scientists eyes settled on one thing that seemed out of place. A flashlight lay on the ground near the carving, seemingly out of battery, but that wasn't what interested him most however… That would be the discarded white glove that sat next to it.
He carefully picked up both objects and returned to his craft, quickly having the machine run a basic scan of the object for any strand of DNA he could use to match it. Eventually, it returned one result.
"Miles Prower…" The doctor growled. This confirmed his suspicions, even if he did have to use DNA information stolen from a doctor's office. It was undeniable that the mutant had been here. Now however, this left him a even greater mystery. What exactly had happened here?"
He quickly grabbed a scanner and made his way back into the temple. Having his computer absorb all the information from the carvings that he could.
"Now then…" He muttered to himself. "Let's figure out just who you are Prower…"
Alright everybody, that's it for this chapter, let me know what you thought! This reimagining of the old story is certainly going to have some changes and I'm excited to explore them! I'll see you guys later. Until next time!
