"So are you trying to get with anyone here at school?"
"Meh," Boruto shrugged with feigned disinterest as he and his friends strolled back to their classroom after lunch.
The reality was he already was getting with someone from school, but he very well couldn't come out and say that.
"Here's the thing guys, I accidentally ruined myself by giving my first time to a babe like Summer, because now my standards are too high."
"Was she really that hot?" Iwabe asked incredulously.
"Not just hot, but like fun and adventurous and totally down for anything," Boruto replied with a suggestive smirk.
"What do you mean anything?" Shikadai questioned with a raised brow.
With his friends' persistent curiosity, many of their conversations lately were about Boruto's sexual experience. He even had guys who weren't within his close friend circle approaching him and asking for his advice.
He'd be lying if he said he didn't enjoy the attention and the way his reputation evolved from troublemaker to lady killer, but he did find himself wondering what Sarada thought of his new claim to fame.
"I mean like we were fooling around out in the woods where anyone could have seen us."
The boys' eyes all widened with intrigue before Inojin gawked, "And she let you?!"
"Let me? Dude, she was into it!" Boruto told them as he laced his fingers together behind his head. "She's like a thrill seeker. Totally turned on by the possibility of being caught."
"Damn," Iwabe mumbled. "That's pretty hot."
"I know, that's what I'm saying! Like the girls here at school are just so —" Boruto cut himself off when Shikadai elbowed him in the side.
"Ow! What the hell?!" he grumbled under his breath, but then followed his best friend's line of sight to find a frowning Sarada approaching their classroom from the opposite direction. The corner of his mouth curved up in the tiniest smile.
"The girls here at school are just so what, Boruto?" Sarada scowled as she crossed her arms over her chest and fixed him with a harsh glare.
"Smart," he grinned and his group of friends all turned away or covered their mouths to conceal their laughter. "Especially you, Sarada, I think you're the smartest girl in our year!"
Dark eyes narrowed at the way his voice dripped with sarcasm and how all his friends seemed to find that comment utterly hilarious. Clearly, she picked up on the underlying joke that she was being made the butt of.
"Well, if you were smart, Boruto, you would know that your sloppy uniform is in violation of the academy's dress code. So, I suggest you button your shirt and fix your tie."
Criticizing his outfit seemed to be one of Sarada's default comebacks whenever he said something that annoyed her. Most of the time, he would laugh or roll his eyes, letting their spat end there with her having the last word, but this particular afternoon Boruto was feeling a little cheeky.
"Why don't you make me?" he challenged with an arrogant smirk.
But his confidence faltered when Sarada marched right up to him and yanked him closer by his tie. He could hear his friends snickering beside him as an embarrassed blush heated his cheeks.
When her hands reached behind his neck, his blue eyes widened with confusion.
What was she doing?! They don't touch each other like this at school! Especially not in front of people!
It was only a moment before he realized she was straightening his collar, then she fastened the top two buttons of his uniform shirt.
Was it bad he was a little turned on by the way she maintained such heated eye contact with him? Though, he would much rather have Sarada looking at him like that while unbuttoning his shirt.
Suddenly, Boruto choked a little when she aggressively tightened his tie around his neck. "Oh c'mon, I can hardly breathe with it like this," he protested.
"Good, maybe that'll keep you from yapping all day," Sarada quipped before she turned around and flipped her raven hair over her shoulder. He watched her saunter into the classroom with a pout on his lips.
"I don't yap," Boruto mumbled under his breath.
The quiet titters of his friends soon erupted into raucous laughter as they began playfully hitting him and making jokes.
"Hey, since you love to act like some virtuoso when it comes to wooing the ladies, why don't you do us all a favor and get Sarada to loosen up," Inojin teased and his friends all laughed harder at the seemingly ridiculous suggestion.
"What?! No way!" Boruto shook his head, trying to play it cool despite the color heating his cheeks. The boys walked into the classroom, but his friends didn't seem interested in dropping the subject.
"Yeah, that way we can see if you're actually as adept with girls as you claim to be," Mitsuki smiled and Boruto shot him a disapproving glare.
"If you could get uptight, goodie two shoes, Sarada Uchiha, to drop her panties for you, I will literally bow down to you as the king!" Iwabe laughed.
"Chill, you guys, I just —" Boruto trailed off with a defensive scoff, unsure what he could say. He didn't want to suggest he wasn't interested in Sarada physically and it somehow get back to her, but…
"Yeah, everyone settle down," Shikadai chimed in. "Just because Boruto is too shy to approach a girl of our choosing doesn't mean he's actually a virgin and has been lying to us this whole time!"
The boys all chuckled while Boruto felt his eye twitch with irritation. That certainly felt more like a challenge than a defense, pinning his willingness to go after Sarada on whether his summer fling was fabricated or not.
Growing sick of their annoying taunts, Boruto pushed his friends away and began marching up toward the front of the classroom. He shot them all a glare over his shoulder and called, "watch and learn."
Boruto had no clue why he would fucking say that.
Especially when he didn't know how Sarada might react to him essentially hitting on her in front of everyone. His steps slowed as he reached the whiteboard where she stood with her back towards the class. She was writing some notes from their textbook on the board for Shino-sensei in preparation for their afternoon lecture. With no better ideas coming to mind, Boruto slipped between her and the board with a cool smile on his lips.
"Can I help you?" she asked, annoyance laced in her tone. She set down her marker and hugged her book to her chest.
His blue gaze flickered over her shoulder at his snickering friends and several other observers, before he refocused on her dark eyes that were slowly narrowing in puzzled irritation.
"Actually, I was wondering if I could help you Sarada," he smirked, trying to ignore the titters of their classmates who were watching this scene unfold. "You may have heard, but this summer I acquired some skills that might help a busy girl like you… let's say destress."
He could tell by the shift in her expression that she picked up on the innuendo, but still muttered, "I'm afraid I don't know what you mean."
"Sex, Sarada," he said bluntly and her eyes nearly bugged out at the word. "You look like you could use some."
Boruto really had zero idea how Sarada might react to such a forward suggestion, in front of their classmates no less, but he was still surprised when her palm connected with his face in a harsh slap that whipped his head to the side with surprising strength.
The laughter of the class fell completely silent at the sharp sound. Boruto turned his head to stare at her with wide eyes as his fingers reached up to touch his pinkened cheek.
Sarada wore an anxious expression, only he could see, as if she too was shocked by her own action.
"I'm so sorry," she mouthed silently, then whipped around to glare at their classmates who quickly pretended they weren't staring.
Boruto quietly returned to his seat, too mortified to make eye contact with anyone. But he could still hear all his friends trying (and failing) to hold back their laughter when Shino-sensei walked into the room to start class.
After all her student council duties were complete, Sarada trekked through the empty school. An anxious feeling knotted in her stomach each step she took, but when she pushed open the front door and spotted Boruto waiting by the front gate, a wave of relief washed over her.
She picked up her pace until they were standing in front of each other. Both fidgeting nervously.
"Hey," Boruto finally greeted.
"Hey," Sarada replied and after an awkward beat she spoke up again. "I was worried you might have left, because of what happened at lunch..."
"Yeah... lunch today was..." he trailed off, his ears growing hot at the memory.
"I-I'm sorry I slapped you, I just freaked out and didn't know what to do."
"No, it's... fine, really," Boruto mumbled with a shake of his head. "It surprised me more than it actually hurt, and to be honest, it was my fault for putting you in that situation. I don't know… it was so stupid, my friends were giving me a hard time and I… I wasn't thinking about how it might make you feel."
"Well, I can think of a few things you can do to make me feel better," Sarada smiled shyly at her own flirtatious suggestion.
An amused grin spread across his face, as Boruto leaned in close and whispered, "You know I'll do whatever it takes."
Sarada turned her face away from him to hide her blushing cheeks, even as she grabbed his hand and guided him up the street to her house with quick, eager steps.
After that first time Boruto walked her home after her student council meeting, it became a near-daily occurrence. With her mom always at work and her dad always out of town, her house was the perfect place for them to get some privacy.
"I'm hungry," Sarada sighed as they walked through the front door of the Uchiha residence.
Boruto carelessly dropped his school bag to the floor in favor of grabbing Sarada's waist and pulling her against his warm body. "Mmm, I'm hungry, too," he purred against her neck.
She exhaled a breathy laugh as she pushed him away. "No, I mean like for actual food!"
"Oh yeah, I could eat," Boruto shrugged with forced nonchalance. His cheeks colored pink, embarrassed by his misinterpretation of her comment.
"C'mon," Sarada said as she beckoned him to follow her into the kitchen. "I'll make us something to eat."
"You know how to cook?" he asked, not bothering to hide his surprise.
She glanced over at her shoulder, amusement dancing in her dark eyes. "You don't?"
"No… I mean, I can make some stuff, but my mom always has dinner ready when I get home." Boruto hopped up to sit on the kitchen counter as Sarada began retrieving various items from the cabinets and fridge.
"Yeah, your mom's food is so good, I wouldn't cook if I was you either," she laughed.
Thoughtful blue eyes observed her silently as she began her food preparations. His smile began to falter as he found himself wondering the reason why she had become so adept at cooking for herself.
It was the fourth day in a row he had come over with no sign of her parents. Boruto found himself compelled to ask. "You're… alone a lot, aren't you?"
Sarada turned to face him, a confounded look on her face. "I mean... no, not necessarily. Or at least I don't notice, I stay really busy with my student council duties and I'll usually call my friends while we do homework and stuff. It's not like I'm lonely or anything," she defended before continuing her cooking.
Boruto frowned, he never suggested that she was lonely but that's clearly where her mind went.
He had always thought Sarada's parents were so cool because of their careers, but he never considered how she may feel about how demanding their work was. His dad was the mayor, which certainly kept him busy, but at least he came home every night and was always there on important days.
Boruto hopped off the counter and snuck behind Sarada standing at the stove. He wrapped his arms around her in a warm hug. "You know, I really like hanging out with you," he said softly against her hair.
She peeked over her shoulder to meet his gaze as a little smile tugged at her lips. "You better, I make you snacks and have sex with you!"
He gave her a gentle squeeze. "Yeah, that's the only reason I'm here, so hurry up," Boruto teased.
Sarada pouted as she turned around in his hold and playfully hit him against the chest. "You're so —!"
But he cut her off, pressing his lips to hers in a firm but tender kiss that slowly grew in intensity. With his hand cupping her cheek, Boruto pulled back just enough to look into her half-lidded eyes.
"...dumb," she sighed against his lips as a soft smile spread across her face.
