CONGRATULATIONS roban05! Yep! The park where Sue always walked Levi! Next clue/ day will be in a few chapters!
?-?
"What's the case?" Sue asked, sitting down at her old desk.
"Well, on Friday, a woman named Marleen Owens claimed she won $1,000." Myles explained.
"And she didn't?" She asked.
"Apparently not." Bobby replied, taking the sheet of paper Myles was passing around. "When the cashier scanned the ticket in, the computer said it was fraud."
"So she's illegally making lottery tickets?"
"They don't think so." Myles replied. She had a receipt from purchasing the ticket, the employee that sold it to her is trustworthy, and so now we have been graced with checking out the surveillance footage."
"Hey," Jack said, waving his hand at Sue, thinking of an idea. "Do you mind checking out the footage with Mya? Everyone will be masked, but maybe you'll catch something that we won't." He asked when she looked at him, signing as well as speaking.
Sue nodded, then walked over to Mya, who was pulling up the footage. She scrubbed until she found the woman in question. "She doesn't look like a fake lottery manufacturer." She replied, seeing the back of an older woman.
Mya shook her head. "No. But then again, most criminals look pretty every day.
"TRUE-BUISNESS." She replied, then looked deeper at the recording. "Can you zoom in here?" She asked, pointing at the lottery ticket being handed from the cashier to Marleen.
Mya nodded, zooming in. "Hey!" She exclaimed in realization. "That's the same ticket Josh gave me, on the same day too!"
"Did you win anything?" Bobby asked, hearing her.
"No, unfortunately." She replied.
"Do you know where he got it? Was it the same place?" Jack asked.
"Probably not. This place is out of the way from Sue's to my house, so he most likely bought it somewhere else."
"Evidence is here!" Sarah exclaimed, walking in with a box. Mya held out her hand, wiggling her fingers, indicating she wanted the box. Sarah complied, walking over and handing her the box.
"Thank you!" She replied, already inside the box. "Here's the ticket!" She exclaimed, pulling it out to examine it. "It looks exactly the same, but,"
"But what?" Bobby asked anticipatedly.
Mya shook her head. "I don't know. Something's wrong with it. I need a reference sample." She announced, standing up. "I will be back soon." She said as she put on her coat, then walked out of the bullpen.
"What, what just happened?" Jack asked, completely flabbergasted. The other two men just shook their heads, just as confused as he.
Sue smiled, enjoying the show she was privy to. Once the guys shrugged it off and got back to work, she did as well, scrubbing through the recordings from the past several days, both before Marleen's purchase, and after. It was then when she noticed something interesting. "Hey guys," she said, then everyone looked at Sue. "I think I might've found exactly what you're looking for."
Curious, everyone rushed to look what Sue found at Mya's computer.
?-?
"I wonder where Sue got to." Tara wondered as the Consultants did their job.
"Maybe she got caught up in the case they're working on." Josh suggested.
She smiled. "Wouldn't that be fun?"
He smiled and nodded in reply. "It's always fun when we get to work together as one big, happy team family."
"I miss working with them every day." She replied, understanding.
"I do too."
"But we have a good team here, we have fun, right?"
He smiled and nodded, looking around at their team. "Of course!"
Just then, everyone's computer dinged, indicating they had a new case. "Let's see what we get to do now!" Tara happily said, opening the email.
"THIS TRUE?" Amy asked, shocked by what she read.
Tara shrugged, surprised herself.
"NOT JOKE?" Shane asked.
"DON'T THINK." Josh replied, slightly chuckling.
"Why do we always get the weird cases? Really? Llamas?"
Josh just shook his head in reply, unable speak due to laughter.
?-?
"Good, you're back." Jack said, looking up to find Mya walking into the bullpen. "Where'd you go?"
She smiled through her mask. "I had an idea, and I needed to prove it."
Knowing he wouldn't get a straight answer at the moment, he shrugged it off, then continued. "While you were gone, Sue did your job."
"Oh really?" She replied, looking at Sue. Sue smiled back. "What did you find?"
"Now that, you will have to find out on your own!" Sue replied, giving Mya some of her own medicine.
"OK, no problem. I will keep my secret, and you will keep yours. Deal." She replied.
The two women smiled at each other, proud of their accomplishments.
