Chapter 7
As the elevator made its way quickly down the shaft, inside Regina and Emma were breathing quickly.
"Are you okay?" Regina said moving closer to Emma, her breath practically caressing Emma's face. A small nod came for the blonde but Regina could see she was shaken by what had just happened. It wasn't every day that Regina was told to kill someone there and then and point a gun at someone she was told she loved. She could see that Emma's head wound had opened again and was bleeding down the side of her face. As the blonde moved a shaking, cold hand up to the side of her face to wipe away the blood, she was stopped by a pair of warm, soft hands.
"Let me" Regina whispered, her voice raspy and sexy but also littered with concern.
As Regina wiped away the blood, she could feel Emma shudder. Was the blonde scared? Or was there something else going through her mind to cause it?
A small "Ping" came from the elevator and the doors began to slowly open, revealing a completely white apartment lobby. A white sofa was position directly opposite the elevator and the only bit of colour on the apartment floor were coming from the two dragon plants positioned wither side of the sofa.
"Come on" Regina said, grabbing Emma's hand and leading her out of the elevator and into the lobby.
It was quiet. Too quiet.
As the pair walked around the corner, they were then met by a cascade of bullets flying there way.
Shit!
Quickly Regina moulded herself into Emma's body, protecting her from any flying bullets and forced her back behind the corner. Suddenly the bullets stopped and there was silence once more. The only sounds that could be heard were Regina and Emma's heavy breathing, until.
"You still out there, baby?"
It was Robin.
Regina could hear that he was also breathing heavily and to be honest she wasn't surprised, he would have had to have sprinted down the stairs to reach them on time. Regina then heard the loud sound of a gun reloading. It was all him. All of those bullets came from him.
"Or I suppose I should be calling you Regina SWAN Mills, I guess the jokes on me" he teased as he pushed the last few bullets into his gun.
Regina and Emma just stood listening against the wall. They didn't dare move in case there were others waiting. Quickly Regina's mind began racing, trying to think of any means of escape.
"I really thought you were a loser, turns out I was living with the greatest intelligence agent alive" Robin said, poking his head around the corner and looking at the empty space in front of him. He knew they were still behind the wall but there was no way he could take on the pair by himself. Instead he decided to annoy them, force them to make a mistake.
"Gold still wants you back you know" he rambled on.
But Regina had stopped listening. Instead she moved towards the elevator, gun in hand and pressed the button.
"I guess he still has faith in you"
Robins voiced flowed down the corridor.
"But then you always were the favourite, all we heard at the agency was how brilliant The Evil Queen was. But I know what you are, you're a traitor Regina, and traitors get put to death!" he yelled.
"Come on, come on" Regina whispered, looking between the elevator and were Robins voice was coming from. She knew he was trying to stall them as he waited for backup and unfortunately for them backup had arrived.
Robin signalled to the synthetics that had just arrived, immediately they locked and loaded their weapons and began to turn around the corner.
"So you might want to give your little girlfriend or should I say wife a kiss goodbye" he chuckled. "As long as she doesn't mind where those lips have been"
As Robin peaked around the corner, he was met by a tone of bullets being shot his way. Emma was now standing right out in the open shooting as many bullets as she could towards Robin and the synthetics.
Then suddenly she felt a pair of strong arms grabbing her around the waist and bring her back behind the corner of the wall. As Regina practically pushed Emma against the wall and back into cover she quickly looked into her eyes. All she could see was fire.
"That's it" Emma said as she reloaded her gun. "I'm ending this bitch" she breathed. Quickly Regina popped her head out and began shooting the wall of synthetics that were making their way forwards. In between all of them she could see Robins holding tightly onto his gun, a wide smile spread smugly across his face.
Suddenly Regina heard the dreaded click of her gun.
"Shit, I'm out" she declared as she made her way over to the elevator and began pushing the button harder and faster hoping it would do something. But nothing happened. Instead she placed her fingers between the two doors and began to pull them apart; putting all the strength she had into opening the door. After a few seconds the doors began to move apart and several lifts began to float past. Luckily for them, the elevator shaft was not a straightforward drop, instead it moved side to side, meaning they could run along the shaft.
"Come on!" she shouted at Emma who was still shooting several rounds of bullets at the synthetics.
Quickly Regina grabbed her hand and began dragging her into the elevator tunnel. The tunnel was lit with several bright lights. Unfortunately for Regina, the elevator system was a complete maze. Drops appeared out of nowhere and they had to try and make sure they didn't get crushed by the lifts.
"Shit" Regina said as she saw one of the elevators float up behind them and started making a quick journey towards them. "Run" she said but then she felt Emma stop.
Another elevator had just appeared in front of them and was coming towards them at a terrific pace.
"What do we do?" Emma said as she looked around desperately. They were going to be crushed!
Then Regina noticed it. There was a drop a few metres in front of them.
"Do you trust me?" she said to Emma holding onto her hand. The blonde gave her a quickly nod and looked at the drop. They began running towards the elevator which was now speeding towards them.
"JUMP" Regina shouted and the pair jumped into the hole, grabbing onto the nearest bit of metal they could to stop them from falling to their deaths.
Robin had now made it around the corner with his synthetics and was staring at the pulled open elevator door.
"Shit, go!" he signalled to the army of synthetics. Immediately one synthetic made its way into the tunnel but was quickly crushed by a speeding elevator. "Shit" he muttered. He then signalled at another and it checked that the coast was clear. As soon as the path was clear it moved into the tunnel and began shooting at the pair which it had just witnessed drop to the next level.
As Emma and Regina made their way down to the next tunnel, they were unfortunately met by an even bigger maze of tunnels. They were effectively trapped . The drop down was too large, if they fell they would die but if they went back they would be shot.
"What do we do now?" Emma asked, looking worriedly at Regina.
"I have an idea but you're not going to like it" she said, looking down at the drop and seeing an elevator making its way up to them.
"Are we really going to jump on top of that?" Emma asked nervously.
"Do you see any other way out?" Regina quipped back.
Suddenly bullets began whipping past their faces. Robin was here.
"JUMP" Regina instructed and the pair both jumped onto the top of the elevator. However the momentum that Emma had gathered was too much and she began rolling towards the edge. As her body began to fall off the side of the elevator, she suddenly felt and smooth warm hand, grab her own.
"Hold on" Regina said. She could see the terror in Emma's face. If Regina let go now then she would fall to her death.
"Give me the gun" Regina said, still holding Emma but grabbing the gun with her other hand. The elevator was now coming up to where they had just jumped from and Regina knew Robin was going to be there. As they reached the tunnel, Regina began shooting as many rounds as she could into the darkness.
Unfortunately for her she missed Robin. However she did hit one of the synthetics, taking out the front side of their mechanical face.
"Go" Robin signalled, pointing to the elevator. Quickly one of the synthetics began running. It jumped as high as it could and grasped its mechanical fingertips around the bottom of the pair's elevator.
"Track him" Robin ordered, looking at one of the synthetics still with him. Quickly the robot began tapping away at its arm and brought up a holographic map of where the other robot was.
On top of the elevator, Regina was still holding onto Emma's hand.
"Grab my arm" Regina demanded, trying as hard as she could to pull the blonde back up on the top. Regina could see the strain in Emma's face, she was using all her strength just to hold on.
"I got you, I got you!" Regina said, finally hoisting Emma back up and onto the top of the elevator.
What the pair didn't see at first was the robot climbing up the side of the elevator and straight towards them.
"Regina what do we do?" Emma said.
But Regina wasn't listening; instead she began kicking the small square on top of the elevator. After several kicks the square finally fell through and dropped into the elevator which was full of people.
"Let's go" Regina said as she pushed Emma into the gap and then jumped herself. But to her dismay, her arm was grabbed and being held by the synthetic.
"Shit" she said, trying to pull herself free from the robots grip but nothing was happening, she was just hanging in mid-air.
CRASH!
Regina dropped to the floor along with a broken robot arm.
The elevator had begun to move through a new tunnel, crushing the robot on top as the tunnel narrowed.
As Regina climbed to her feet, she looked at all the shocked faces staring at her and Emma.
"Urm, is this going down?" Emma said, trying to break the ice. This caused Regina to let out a little smile.
Nobody replied.
"No?" Emma asked again.
"Level D-14" The PA system stated.
The pair watched as several people in the elevator began to run out. What the people didn't realise was that Robin was waiting down the corridor.
Shots began to rung out and people began dropping like flies in front of them. Quickly Regina began smacking the close button and dropped to the floor to hide from the flying bullets.
"Come on" She said willing the doors to close, but they didn't. Instead they jammed leaving a large, open gap for Robin to shoot at.
Then suddenly the elevator began moving again. It was going down.
This time Robin saw his chance.
"Fuck this" he yelled and began sprinting towards the elevator. As he got closer and closer he dropped to the floor, slid on the ground and landed directly on the top. He then dropped though the gap Regina had kicked out earlier and began punching the pair in the lift.
Several punches hit Emma's face and a large hard kick landed in Regina's stomach. He then whipped his gun out from his pocket and began trying to shoot at the two women. Shots rang out from the elevator but each one missed its intended target. Regina managed to land two direct punches towards his face as Emma kicked his shins with all her might.
They were winning.
Until one of the synthetics came gliding through the open hatch.
Its robotic arms threw Regina against the wall and left Emma battling Robin on her own.
Punches began flying and Emma could feel herself becoming tired. Ever punch or dodge was becoming slower and Robin was starting to get the better of her.
Over with Regina, the synthetic was now lifting her off the floor just by her head. Her arms flailed around trying to free herself somehow, but the robot was to strong. She could feel its hands trying to crush her skull.
Bringing her knees up to her stomach, she pushed against the wall, forcing the robot to retreat backwards and land against the elevator gap. Sparks began to fly as the robots metal body hit the outside metal tunnel. Its grip then began to release and Regina saw this as her perfect chance to get rid of this robot once and for all. She held its neck tightly against the gap and let the tunnel do the rest of the work. Suddenly its body was torn in two and that was that. Regina dropped to her knees, trying as hard as she could to catch her breath quickly and help Emma who was still being knocked around by Robin.
But suddenly Robin stopped. He looked behind him and noticed another elevator underneath them. Quickly he held Emma against the wall, reached for his belt and took off a round disk. He stuck it to the wall behind Emma's head and twisted. Small, quiet bleeps began to fill the elevator.
Letting go of Emma's body, he then turned around and jumped onto the elevator below a large smile across his face.
Regina watched as her ex-husband, drifted away on top of the other elevator but that was soon broken when she heard Emma.
"Oh shit" Emma said looking at the disc. It was a bomb and they only had 20 seconds to escape. Emma immediately began trying to wrench it off the wall but no luck, it was stuck solidly onto the wall.
The pair began to panic. If they jumped, they jumped to their death. If they stayed, they'd be blown to bits.
As Regina looked up at the hatch above, she saw and elevator dropping towards them.
"Come on" she said pushing Emma towards the gap in the door. If they jumped at the right time, they should hopefully land right on top of the other lift.
"Jump" Regina shouted.
The pair dropped out of the elevator and thankfully landed safely on the other.
BOOM!
The old elevator exploded into a million tiny bits.
"NO!" Robin yelled as he witnessed the pair survive the explosion. This wasn't happening. He stood on top of the elevator and stared directly at the pair who were now standing inside another tunnel. They locked eyes for several seconds. Robins face red with anger.
"You really know how to pick them" Emma said taking Regina's hand and leading her away from Robins gaze. This wasn't over.

"Passage on The Fall requires a current transit visa. If you do not have a current transit visa, please visit the information office"
Quickly Regina and Emma made their way out of The Fall station and into the busy high-street.
Soldiers and synthetics were everywhere and the pair were struggling to blend in. Emma's cut had gotten bigger and was bleeding again all down her face, her nose was also covered in dry blood. Regina also had a clear cut to her head and her toned arms had several small cuts littering them.
"The Resistance leaders have been hiding for over six months, in the wake of these latest attacks federal police have uncovered alarming new evidence, proving what many in the Gold administration have long suspected, that Mary Margret and David Nolan and their terrorist movement is being funded by Storybrooke's governor and his districts organisation. We are now hearing unconfirmed reports of military mobilization. Sources close to the chancellor will neither confirm or deny the reports"
The whole street had come to a standstill as they watched the news report on the large building screen.
"Jesus" Regina whispered as she watched the report.
"We have got to get you to Mary Margret and David" Emma said holding onto Regina's hand tightly.
This sent shock waves up Regina's body. Her heart suddenly began to beat faster and faster and she could feel her hand getting sweaty. She really was in love with this women, even if she couldn't remember it.
Snapping out of her daze she looked back at the green, beautiful eyes.
"How the hell do we find them?" Regina asked
"There's a way, come on" Emma said, leading Regina through the crowd.

The pair had finally made it to what looked like an abandoned underground tube station. As they began their decent underground, Regina began to take in her environment. The place was dark, hardly any lights to be seen. It had definitely been abandoned as old shopping trolleys and newspapers littered the stations floor. An old underground tube carriage stood still in the middle of the tunnel, its windows blown out and several rats scurried about inside it.
As they walked along the tube station, a dog began to bark in the distance.
"What's going on?" Regina whispered to Emma. "Where are we?"
Suddenly the whole station was lit up and Regina watched as a large man emerged from the carriage holding a gun and dog. Several other men also appeared behind them, all armed and dressed in bullet proof vests.
"Emma what's going on?" Regina said, he voice now more nervous.
But Emma didn't answer, instead the man with the dog walked closer and closer until he stood staring at Regina.
"Are you sure you can trust her?" he said to Emma as he looked Regina over again.
"Yes I'm sure" Emma said, no waver in her voice.
Slowly the man approached Regina. What happened next Regina was not prepared for. She suddenly felt large arms wrap around her shoulders and warm breath touch her ears. She was being brought in for a very large hug with a man she couldn't remember. Finally after several awkward seconds she felt him let go and step backwards.
"Let's go" he said, escorting them to a rather run down looking tube carriage. Once they were inside her signalled to a man in a small booth outside the carriage and he began typing away on his holographic computer.
Suddenly the engine began to roar to life and lights began to flash around the carriage.
"Air lock sealed"
Then the tube began to move, its engine trusting the carriages forwards. They were on the move.

"So Gold scours the U.F.B and Storybrooke everyday looking for Mary M and David. The reason they can find him is because they aren't there" Emma said thrusting a old looking gas mask towards Regina. "After the wars, no one would be crazy enough to come out here. Everyone stays out of the No Zone" Emma said, handing Regina a fully loaded handgun.
"Makes sense" Regina said smiling at Emma.
As the tube carried on its journey, Regina looked out of the window in the now empty carriage. Nearly every building she could see was destroyed. No plants or living animals were on the ground, the place was like a dessert. Sand littered the floor and old pieces of rocks and bricks were scattered around. What had this world come to? So many lives lost over a silly but deadly war.
"Hey"
Immediately she was snapped out of her thoughts.
"Hey" she said looking at a now fresh faced Emma, who had changed into some new clothes.
"We are almost there" she said, taking in Regina's nervous looking face.
"You okay?" she said moving closer to the brunette, their bodies now only inches away.
"Yeah im…everyone seems to know me, but me. Its strange" she said looking deep into Emma eyes.
A little laugh came from the blonde's mouth.
"Yeah" she breathed taking in Regina's beauty once again.
"I can see she meant a lot to these guys" Regina said talking about her supposed old self.
"Yeah, she gave us the upper hand and some of us were really able to see the best in her" Emma said as she held onto the balance cord above her.
"What if the best is gone?" Regina asked, immediately regretting letting that slip. "I'm sorry" she said.
"Regina Swan Mills wasn't perfect you know, she could be a real asshole sometimes" Emma teased, drawing a small smile from Regina.
"Your just trying to make me feel better" she said, smiling at Emma, whose face was now slightly closer.
"Maybe" Emma admitted, a large grin appearing on her face.
"Well its working" Regina said
As Emma looked out of the window she noticed the familiar buildings come into view.
"We are here" she said. "It's time to put on that gas mask oh and Regina" Emma said, now holding onto the brunette's hand. "We will get through this….together" Slowly she leaned forward and left a chaste kiss on Regina's cheek.
Turns out this was all Regina needed to boost her self-confidence. Emma was right, they would get through this, as wives.
