"Téa? Are you alright?" Yugi asked worriedly at his wife. She had a rather unpleasant look on her face as if she was contemplating about some distressing news.
Téa frowned looking up from her seated position of their living room sofa. "Yugi…" She started flicking her eyes towards him. She stood up. She walked up to the hanging decorative mirror they had in the room. She turned sideways, placing her hands on her stomach.
She turned back to look at Yugi. "Do I… do I look fat to you?"
Yugi grimaced. No matter what your wife looked like, this was a tricky question indeed. He tried to think of a good answer, but honesty was the best policy. "No." He said honestly. "Err… why do you ask?"
Téa pouted. "Are you being honest?" She inquired again softly.
"Yes, why are you asking me this?" Yugi questioned. It seemed something was nagging his wife, if she was so intent on getting an answer.
"They… they think I'm pregnant." She lowered her head.
"Uh…" Yugi scratched his head, "You're not… are you?" His heart rate began to increase.
"No…" Téa murmured. Yugi let out a breath. He walked over and put his arm around his wife's waist.
"And… who is they anyway?" He rubbed her arms comfortingly.
"The paparazzi." She frowned.
"Ah, I should have guessed. They just need some juicy rumors to fabricate, that's all." He gave Téa a small smile.
Téa shyly smiled back at him. "I guess." She bit her lip. "So, I really don't look fat?"
Yugi sighed deeply. "No, no. You look perfect." He puffed.
"But what if I did look fat?" She pressed.
Yugi sighed again. "Then I'd love you anyway, because you'd still be beautiful to me."
Téa smiled, pulling in Yugi for a hug who inwardly smiled. "I've been thinking…" She started. Yugi pulled away slightly, curiously. "What if we decided to have a baby?" She prompted.
Yugi blinked. "You want to have a baby?"
"Yes, I mean we have always talked about having children eventually. I'm thinking it would be nice to have one soon." She stared at Yugi's face trying to gauge his reaction.
He broke into a grin. "Yes! That would be great!" Téa beamed, happy at her husband's reaction. Yugi spontaneously lifted Téa up, kissing her deeply. "What are we waiting for?" He winked, kissing her again.
7 Months Later…
Yugi grunted loudly, both his hands curling into fist crushing and crinkling the magazine that was in his hands. He marched loudly over to the living room where his wife was sitting on the coach watching a TV show.
Téa turned, shocked looking at Yugi with her eyes wide. Yugi was mad. Very mad. His entire aura gave out a horribly negative feel. His face had turned to a slight tint of pink and his teeth clenched. Yugi was mad. He was really mad. Téa had known this expression from maybe two rare occasions in which Yugi had been very ticked off.
Yugi, the sweet, kind, friendly guy could be really scary when you pushed the right buttons. The nicest people are always the scariest when they're mad. The expression on his face would be the kind very few people would ever expect from him. This was when you knew things were serious.
Téa's lip quivered, a bit nervous from the intimidating look on Yugi's face. "Yugi?" She asked extremely delicately and softly.
"They've gone too far!" He shouted his hands clenching even harder into a fist. Téa bit her lip, hesitating to ask 'Who?' Luckily, she didn't have to. Yugi tore the magazine cover out of his hand, trying to flatten it. His entire mannerism however was extremely aggressive. "This!" He shouted. Shoving the magazine at Téa.
Téa timidly reached out for the magazine from Yugi's grasp and turned it over, gasping once she saw the headlines on the magazine.
'Yugi's wife's infidelity? Téa carrying another man's child?'
Téa let herself blow out a large puff of air escape her mouth. Her hands coiled into a fist unintentionally, much like Yugi's. Anger ripped through her very bearing. Her hands immediately unclenched, her eyes going wide when a new thought course her mind. "Oh Yugi!" She exclaimed. She timidly reached out her hand, to the still standing Yugi. "I..Yugi...this is all lies...the baby...it's yours...our baby..."
"Damn straight it is!" He yelled.
Téa blinked her eyes widening again. Yugi's breathing becoming rapid as his face turned a darker shade of pink. He pointed at Téa's stomach. "That baby is mine!" He declared.
Téa stood up embracing Yugi at the side. "Yes, yes." She comforted him, rubbing his arms and shoulders. "The baby is most definitely yours are ours." She soothed him. "They're all just idiot, conniving little who..."
"Are filthy little..."
"Shh..." She shushed Yugi, hugging the still stiff Yugi. "Let's sit down, honey..." She very carefully lead Yugi to sit down on the couch, but it was a little awkward as she tried to gently push her larger husband to sit. She ending up putting too much force, just as Yugi stopped resisting causing them, to both fall on the couch, Téa on top of Yugi, in his lap.
"Oof." Téa looked into Yugi's eyes. "Sweetheart," she affectionately called him. "You have nothing to worry about. You're the only man for me and the only man I'll ever want." She once again began soothing Yugi by rubbing his arm and shoulders.
Yugi stared at Téa with a great intensity that made Téa nervous. What shocked and somewhat scared the hell out of Téa was when Yugi whooped in and roughly kissed Téa dominating their kiss with great force. Téa responded back after her backlash of surprise, although it was weak in comparison to Yugi's dominating movement.
After the kiss ending (Yugi being the one to end it, because both of them ran out of oxygen) they both breathed heavily gazing into each other's eyes. Yugi's eyes softened. "I know you would never cheat on me." He softly told her. "I'm just mad at those lunatics who have audacity to incorrectly tell me and the world on a stupid magazine cover that my wife is carrying someone else's child." He angrily said.
"Ye-" Téa started.
"They're going to pay." Yugi said with a fierce determination in his eyes. Téa nodded her head furiously a little nervous at Yugi's behavior.
"Rinngg...ringgg...ringgg..." The phone rang. Téa and Yugi met eye contact.
"Pick it up." He told her, although kindly.
Téa hesitantly picked up the phone. "H-hello?"
"Téa, hon! It's Mai! The paparazzi are going crazy about your alleged infidelity! You gotta' do something quick, before this blows over even worse than it is!"
"Oh gosh Mai."
"Please tell me you haven't gone out anywhere today!"
"No..." Téa stuttered. "Yugi and I slept in today..."
"Oh, thank goodness!" Mai exclaimed. "You have to do something quick though to shut up these rumors! Did you talk to Yugi? Is he ok? He didn't think that you...?"
"No Mai. Yugi trusts me."
"Just wanted to make sure hon. Media and stardom can make a person crazy!"
Téa groaned. "I know! What do I do Mai?"
"I can't believe I'm saying this but go out in public."
"WHAT?!" Téa yelled.
"Ow! Téa... phone remember?"
"Sorry Mai."
"Look Téa, the only way to convince everyone that everything is fine is to go out of your way and act all lovey dovey out in public to counteract all this attention and show everyone that your marriage is fine and not in shambles! Do you think you could do that?"
Téa bit her lip. "I don't know Mai..." Téa eyed Yugi. "Yugi's pretty tense right now and I'm afraid that he'll get out of hand with someone questioning us out in public."
"I'll be fine." Yugi's voice boomed. "Whatever Mai's idea is, I will go along with it. Anything to stop this stupidity." Yugi said with disgust.
Mai was still on the line and was able to make out what Yugi was saying. "Wow. He really is the Pharaoh's reincarnation." She softly said over the phone. "I never knew he could get so angry..."
"Mhmm..." Téa said eyeing Yugi's revolted face. "Yeah... I know what you mean. Thanks Mai though. We're going to go through with it if Yugi can handle himself."
Yugi eyed Téa. Whatever Mai's idea was he was going to go through with it. 'No one...and I mean no one is allowed to even dare to accuse Téa of having an affair or saying that MY baby is not rightfully mine.'
Yugi heard Téa give Téa a mumbled goodbye and saw her hang up. "Well?" He looked at her expectantly and tilting his head.
Téa pressed her lips together. She grabbed Yugi and pulled him to sit down on the coach with her. She clenched Yugi's hand in hers as Yugi and Téa looked at each other.
"Mai says that we should go out in public..." She whispered.
"What?! That's crazy! And get bombarded with reporters and paparazzi trying to get the latest dirt on how our marriage is going up in flames?!"
"Yugi! Our marriage is not going up in flames!" Téa yelled exhaling. She softly inhaled, softening her voice. "Mai said that if we go out and show everyone that we are still together and happily married, that the rumors could die down ever so slightly. We should tell everyone the truth. Those things said are nothing, but a stupid bunch of lies fabricated to make a news story."
Yugi's eyes softened as he diverted his eyes and frowned. Téa continued. "If we can go out of our way to show people that out marriage is as good has it has ever been and we act especially in love...than it would help our situation."
Yugi met Téa's eyes again. "That's where you're wrong." He said softly. Téa blinked with a sad face still plastered on her face. "I don't have to act for any of that. This marriage is still good, happy and stable. " He said cupping Téa's cheek. "I am still in love with you more than ever."
"Oh Yugi..." She said her eyes twinkling.
He silenced her capturing Téa's lips with his own as Téa responded back wrapping her hands around Yugi's neck. Yugi and Téa retreated back, but still allowing their foreheads to meet their noses still faintly touching. Téa could feel Yugi's short breaths hitting her face.
"I'm not going to let this go." Although he whispered this, his voice rung with fierce determination. "I'm not letting them ruin what we have together." Téa simply nodded, slowly blinking her eyes and then leaning in so that her lips met Yugi's.
"Ready Yugi?" Téa chirped fastening her seatbelt in the passenger seat.
"Yep. Let's do this! It shouldn't actually be that bad if it gives me a chance to spend time with you outside." He reached out to place his hand on Téa's.
"Oh Yugi. You're such a charmer!" She giggled. Yugi grinned. "And that is why I fell in love with you!"
Yugi chucked. "Mhm...that and my dashing good looks!" He said stroking his hair.
"With that crazy hairstyle?" She laughed. "Besides, when I first started talking to you, you were a short, little midget!"
"Hey!" Yugi barked back turning on the ignition. "I'm actually much taller than you now, even when you wear all your heels."
"Yugi. The only thing I wear are heels! Mmm...but that might have to change. I don't think women who are pregnant should be thinking about wearing heels." Téa sighed. "That means I need new shoes." She then turned to wink at Yugi. "Isn't that right honey?"
Yugi groaned rolling his eyes. "Let's just go." He said changing the conversation.
"One ice-cream sundae for two, for the lady to share with her knight in shining armor." Yugi said placing the ice-cream on the table and proceeding to sit across from Téa.
Téa laughed. "What makes you think that you're him?"
"Pssh... of course I am. The Pharaoh and I saved you a bunch of times!" Téa shook her head smiling. "Plus remember when we were stuck on the island with all the capsule monsters? I was wearing that duel monster armor, the Black Luster Soldier and that other one?"
"Wasn't Atem the one who wore it most of the time?"
"Oh please! It was my body, and he's my incarnation. We're one in the same with that whole Ba and Ka thing."
Téa just shook her head. "Alright then." Yugi grinned back at her. "Let's take off our disguises now." She told him. Yugi nodded taking the hood of his hoodie off. Téa removed her beanie hat and took off her sunglasses as Yugi took off his own pair.
They were going to act like the cutest, sweetest, most in love couple the world had ever seen! No stupid rumor mill article by the paparazzi was going to break them apart! They were going to feed each other ice cream in their matching outfits and show the world.
Beep. Beep.
Téa giggled. "Erm, Yugi?"
"Yes?"
She pushed her phone forward over the table. Look at who I'm supposedly cheating on you with.
"Joey?!" Yugi exclaimed at the headline.
Game King's Best Friend Trying to Steal His Wife?
Below the headline was a photo of Téa and Joey whispering to each other.
Yugi laughed. He knew Téa and Joey had a very close sibling-like bond, so there was no way they could be together. The paparazzi had gotten it all wrong! Of course, they did.
Yugi relaxed. Oh well. He was still going to feed his pregnant wife some ice cream. He didn't need to act super lovely dovey with her, he was already super lovely dovey with her.
It also helped his nerves when the next day Téa posted a photo on social media of herself and Joey with the caption:
My brother from another mother.
#FutureGodFatherToMyChild
PC: gameking
The incorrect rumors of Téa's infidelity's died down immediately, only to be replaced with the paparazzi's articles gushing over how cute Téa, Yugi, and Joey's friendship was.
The nerve of the paparazzi. Ugh.
But it was no matter. Téa and Yugi knew that while the paparazzi would probably continue to haggle them throughout their lives, and sometimes interfere, none of the interference could ever become what they had together. They husband and wife, the loves of each other's lives, and firstly best friends. They trusted each other and nothing could ever come between them, and that included annoying, cumbersome, lousy, and inaccurate paparazzi.
The End.
