Hitomi remained at the copilot station and cycled through a different series of comm frequencies to keep the Falcon undetectable to the imps as they made their way for space. Despite cap's lack of experience with anything like this being an angel worked to his obvious advantage. It reminded him of the matrix where abilities could be downloaded into the brain for immediate use. The angelic interface worked similarly it seemed.
"Imps are closing but we are throwing them off," said Hitomi. "Good" said cap. "We'll need every advantage we can get."
He flew the newly stolen Falcon amongst the countless sky lanes as endless streams of ships continued to make their way through. He tried to hug them in that sense as much as possible while Hitomi worked her technical mojo to keep them ahead of the enemy. He went against traffic in some places but with in others. Yet he continued to change his tactics constantly. Whatever would help keep them ahead.
"I think we're good now." Cap would have to take that. He angled up for space and set the sub light engines to full. The ship was quite nimble and very responsive. It shot up readily. Cap was impressed with how well the baddies had kept it up. In this case it worked well. They reached space where many other ships continued to come and go from the galactic city area.
"Course laid in for Tatooine," said Hitomi. This is it he thought. Again, he went with angelic instincts alone and then shot off to light speed a moment later. The imps had been evaded for the time being. "We should make the outer rim in a few hours." Cap nodded and leaned back. "Good." He looked over at her. "I'm sorry about Task." Her eyes teared up. "So am I…"
He reached over and hugged her. She hugged him back. They held it for a moderate moment before then pulling back. "He did it for us; and for freedom." She nodded. "I know. I won't forget that."
Cap nodded and looked out the cockpit transparent metal window at the swirling hyperspace tunnel beyond. There would likely be many more sacrifices ahead in the future. But hopefully this would lessen them substantially.
Xxx
They left light speed and angled their sub light approach for Tatooine proper. Cap reached out with his power and locked onto the Jedi knight that lived in reclusive exile to evade his ancient enemies. He then took manual control of the ship that was now theirs and flew it down for the hut. It was located at the southwestern edge of the dune sea. Hitomi now aware of cap's greater supernatural abilities didn't even bother to question how cap knew where to go. Only that he did.
"This space is controlled by the Hutts. They're nasty gangsters." "Hopefully we won't be here long enough to run into them. We'll get kenobi and keep moving for Yoda."
They neared. Hitomi could also see the hut now from a distance. Cap slowed and then landed the Falcon beside the hut.
They exited. Cap called his Spartan shield out as a precaution. Hitomi saw this action and pulled out her blaster.
"General kenobi! It's Steve Rogers. We're here to take you to Yoda!"
The door opened. A beaded man dressed in simple hermit robes came out. Cap took note of the disabled lightsaber hilt in his hand. "Captain Rogers." "General kenobi. This is my friend Hitomi. She helped get me off Coruscant." Kenobi nodded at her. "Hello there." "General. It's an honor. The Jedi helped liberate my people." Kenobi nodded. "Yes. I remember." He secured his saber. Cap disappeared his shield and Hitomi holstered her laser gun.
Obi-wan fixed his gaze on the American Spartan. "This will not be easy Captain Rogers. And once I am reunited with Yoda the emperor and his many agents-Darth Vader most of all-will come for us." Cap nodded. "I understand that General." He then turned in the direction of the Lars homestead and pointed. "And I know you're watching Vader's son to prepare him for the inevitable confrontation." Obiwan straightened at that. It was one of the greatest secrets out there and cap knew it like it was nothing. "But if we can take these tyrants down now you can restore the Jedi order and the Republic it once defended."
Obiwan thought on that. "I'm not opposed. But I must confer with master Yoda first." Cap nodded. "Of course. My job is to get you there. In the end, we all serve the Force." Obiwan gave a slow nod to that. "Indeed we do captain. Indeed we do."
Kenobi prepared a few belongings then boarded the Falcon. "Interesting ship choice," said kenobi. Cap "I know. It looks like junk but performs rather well. I think that was the idea." "Indeed, for smugglers. Now, I would suggest we leave this wretched hive of scum and villainy to complete our task."
Cap and Hitomi smiled at the description. Cap "right away master Jedi."
Soon they were up again and flying at light speed for dagobah; and grandmaster Yoda…
