The Plague of Penelope Spectra
A week has passed. During that time, Sam slowly started getting along with Mariko. Also, when the goth girl introduced the Japanese girl to the movie after her fifteenth birthday, Sam was surprised that Mariko actually liked it.
At Casper High, there was a science teacher who was up against the lockers in the hallways of school, studying a strange insectoid
"Fascinating. A possibly some of the most interesting mandibular formations I have ever seen."
The insectoid was a ghost that resembled an enormous mosquito with a sharp proboscis, pincer-like mandible and four red eyes. It was staring at its human victim as the teacher became afraid.
"I hope I don't end up seeing it from the inside!" he shouts in terror
Suddenly, Danny Phantom phases through the floor, catching the mosquito's attention as it looked around in confusion. Then, the ghost ambushes it as he lifts it up while flying through the ceiling of the building
"Anybody up for a game of slug bug?"
Danny slams the ghost onto the ground, away from Casper High to avoid collateral damage. However, the creature gets up and fires red energy beams from its four eyes. Danny quickly dodges the assault as the mosquito flies in to attack. Danny tries to counterattack but his shots were missed. From the proboscis, the mosquito fires a stream of green goo that forms a net. It ensnared him as Danny was knocked into a tree.
Paulina was walking by when she hears crashing in the branches of the tree near her. When she looks to the source of the sound, she sees Danny hanging upside down. Paulina gasped, seeing him in trouble as Danny noticed her presence.
"Uh...miss? You should run."
Paulina smiles with glee before running to Danny with open arms. However, the ghost boy shouts
"No! Not toward me, run away!"
Danny fires an energy blast as Paulina sees the ghostly mosquito behind her when she ducked. While the Latina girl bolts, Danny frees himself before he flew away with the bug in hot pursuit. What it didn't realize was that Danny was luring it to some powerlines. As the mosquito closes in, Danny was waiting for the last possible moment.
"Bug..."
He flies up as the mosquito flies into the cables, getting electrocuted in the process
"Zapper."
Unfortunately, Danny's plan backfired as it exploded into a swarm of tiny mosquito ghosts. The ghost boy watched as the swarm phased into Casper High.
"Well, one down, a billion to go."
It was the usual activity in the campus. However, when Danny was walking to his locker, he sees Tucker spraying himself with some sort of...foul-smelling spray as the ghost boy noticed.
"Ew. What's that smell?"
"It's my new bodyspray." Tucker replies as he shows the can. "I made it myself. I call it "Foley by Tucker Foley"."
Tucker proceeds to spray himself as he says
"It combines your natural odor to create a sweet, manly scent that smells different to everyone who sniffs it."
"Tuck, you smell like a sweaty cookie." Danny says critically
"By choice." Tucker emphasizes. "The ladies will be swarming all over you."
Suddenly, Danny's ghost sense goes off when a swarm of ghostly mosquitoes buzz past him. However, the ghost boy hears a rather...small commotion as he looks behind him. There, he sees Paulina walking through the hallways to her locker, being admired by only a small crowd of boys; something that the Latina girl noticed. Then, Danny hears a louder commotion coming from a distance in front of him.
Mariko walked to her own locker as a larger crowd of boys were admiring her, making catcalls to her and such. However, the Japanese girl turns around to face them and said with her hands up, trying to calm them down.
"Guys, listen." she says, trying to reason with them. "I'm flattered with your interests, but there's only one guy I like, okay?"
The boys moaned in disappointment after hearing her words.
All the while, Paulina glares at Mariko at a distance. The memories of her quinceañera being ruined when the Japanese girl tricked her into thinking that she reconsidered the offer of joining the A-Listers, only to end their system, were still fresh to her. As the Latina girl opened her locker which was a shrine in the inside, dedicated to Danny Phantom, she comments to herself
"She can have the other boys, but not you. My ghost boy."
Paulina didn't notice that a tiny mosquito landed on her hand before it phased in.
"Ow! Hey!" she looks at her hand. "You've blemished my flawless skin!"
She slams her locker door before walking while rubbing her hand.
In the opposite side of the hallway, Mariko closes her locker door before she sees Danny and his friends heading towards her. Then, when the sign that had the word "Nurse" on it, Tucker suddenly freezes as his mind went blank.
"Tucker, you okay?" Mariko asks in concern
"He's always like this when he goes near the nurse's office." Sam says with narrowed eyes
"N-n-n-n-n-n-nurse?!"
"This is a bad one!" Sam comments as she pulls out a paper bag and slips it over Tucker's head. "In a case like this, it's best not to let him see."
Soon, Sam guides Tucker as she said to the terrified African boy
"Come on, Tuck. Find a happy place."
"Right! I'm passing by a modeling agency." Tucker says, calming himself
"Or an electronics store with the new PDA models on display before hitting the shelves." Mariko suggests.
"Yeah! That's even better!" Tucker replies.
They make it to a safe distance as Tucker removes the paper bag.
"Thanks Sam." Tucker faces Mariko, "You too, Mariko."
"You're welcome." Mariko says
"You're afraid of the nurse's office?" Danny asks curiously
"Yes! Nurse's offices, doctor's offices, hospitals!" Tucker replies. "Any place that has sharp, pointy, sticking things and the smell of sick people!"
Sam and Mariko detect a foul odor as the Japanese girl covers her nose to block the scent
"Ugh! That stinks!" Mariko comments
"Yeah! What's that smell?" Sam asks in disgust. "Gym socks and snicker-doodles?"
"It's Tucker's cologne." Danny replies
"No offense, but I think you should use cologne that's found in stores." Mariko comments, still blocking her nose
"I'm with her on that bit." Sam says in agreement
Suddenly, Danny's ghost sense went off again. They look around before seeing Paulina leaning on the locker, looking sick. Also, they see her entire body glowing neon green.
"Are you seeing this?" Mariko asks, hoping that she wasn't hallucinating
"Yeah. Why is Paulina glowing?" Danny asks
"I know Paulina has flawless skin, but this is ridiculous." Sam comments
All the while Paulina moaned sickly
"Ugh! I feel terrible..." she looks at her left hand, "and disfigured! Stupid bug bite!"
"Bug bite?" Danny says in curiosity
Suddenly, he sees a ghost mosquito fly by him, causing the ghost boy to gasp in horror.
Then, Jazz slap the back of her neck as she felt a bug biting her while yelling "ow". Kwan laughs at her before getting bit in the neck as well. For Star, she was at her locker before she yelled "ow" as she felt a mosquito bite her on her rear. Soon, all of the students started panicking as there were hundreds of these ghostly mosquitoes pursuing the teens.
"Guys! Cover me!" Danny shouts
When Danny runs into a room to transform as Sam and Tucker stand in front to ensure that no one enters. When Danny Phantom emerges, he goes to his locker and pulls out two Fenton thermoses before tossing one of them to Mariko. Catching the device with only one hand, the Japanese girl pursues the insectoid ghosts and starts sucking in the targets that she sees as Danny took off in another direction for his bug hunt.
Mariko sees some in the science room before sealing them into the thermos.
Danny sucks in some bugs found in the lower levels of the campus
Mariko found a swarm in the girl's locker room and sucked them in.
Danny locates a bigger swarm in the boys bathroom and seals them in.
Believing that all of them were captured, Mariko rendezvous with Danny at the water fountain where Sam and Tucker were as the ghost turns back to his human form.
"I think we got them all." Danny says, holding up his thermos.
However, a mosquito flies to Sam, landing on her shoulder before phasing into her skin.
"Ow!" Sam shouts as she slaps her shoulder
"Except one." Danny comments as he witnessed what happened
Then, another mosquito lands on Mariko's right shoulder before it phases into her skin as well
"Ow!" Mariko shouts as she slaps her shoulder. "Orokana bagu!"
(Translation: Stupid bug!)
"Or two."
Then, they see a small swarm pursuing Dash into the boys restroom
"Or more." Danny comments with a shrug
The blonde jock runs into the restroom as the bugs and Danny follow him
"Dash? Not that I care, but you okay?" the ghost boy asks.
"I don't feel so good." Dash groans from one of the stalls that Danny approached
"Need any help?"
Then, Danny dodges energy blasts which startle him
"Okay...maybe not."
Then, a green monster resembling Dash bursts from the stall, growling at Danny.
"Get away!"
Danny quickly transforms to counterattack as the ghost boy landed a right uppercut, knocking him into a wall. Before the monster could react, Danny lifts him up as he says
"I wish I could say that I didn't want to do this!"
Before Danny could throw a punch, Dash reverts back to normal and passes out groaning.
"Great! I'm one cheapshot away from a semester full of payback!" Danny moans.
Eventually, every parent in Amity Park was alerted as Casper High had a quarantine sign hanging above the lintel. Inside the campus, the crowd of concerned parents were practically begging to be let in.
"Why can't we see our children Mr. Falluca?" Maddie asks in concern. "This is outrageous! They're sick! They need us!"
"I understand your concern, folks." Mr. Falluca reasons, "but I've been instructed not to disseminate any information at this time."
"But you're a teacher!" Maddie counters. "It's your job to disseminate information!"
Meanwhile, Jack got on his knees while sobbing dramatically
"Poor Jazz! She's always been my favorite!"
The man blows his nose into a handkerchief and then hands it to Danny as he said
"Here Danny. Don't lose this! It was your grandfather's!"
Danny was disgusted as he hesitantly took it
"BLEH!"
Then, he hears Tucker's voice calling to him
"Danny! Check this out."
Danny sees the ghost mosquito on the African boy's causing him to panic
"Tucker! Get rid of it!"
"No! No! Look!" Tucker assures. "It won't bite me or phase into my skin."
Tucker's information confuses Danny as it flew off
"That's weird. I've figured my ghost powers were protecting me."
"But what's protecting me?" Tucker asks equally confused
Suddenly, a light dawns on both of them as they do a pose while saying simultaneously
"Foley by Tucker Foley!"
"It's not just repelling, it's a repellant." Danny comments.
Suddenly, from the doors where Mr. Falluca was standing, a strange doctor emerges. He had white skin, and a pair of goggles that had red lenses. To Danny, he was suspicious.
"Hello, people. I am Doctor Bert Rand." he greets
"Are you from the government's disease control center?" Maddie asks in suspicion
"Sure. Let's go with that." he replies. "I assure that your children will be in good hands when we transport them to that creepy, abandoned hospital at the edge of town."
"Under quarantine?" Maddie asks
"Yes. Let's go with that too." Bert replies
Then, Jack steps in
"Oh yeah?! Why should we trust you?" he asks suspiciously
"Because I am with the government and I can audit your taxes if you don't." Dr. Rand replies with a warning.
It was enough to convince Jack to back away as he said
"We trust you."
All the while, Danny was watching the entire conversation as he said
"Well, I don't trust him. Sam, Jazz, and Mariko are in that hospital and we've got to find out what's going on!"
Fear got to Tucker as he said while raising his hand up
"Have a good time."
Before Tucker could walk away, Danny stops him
"Tucker! I said "we"!"
"And you said "hospital"." Tucker replies using air quotes
Danny scoffs
"I go invisible, I go ghost. I'll be in and out in no time." he assures. "Just watch!"
It was night time. At the abandoned hospital called "North Mercy Hospital". However, three letters fell off the sign which made it renamed "No Mercy Hospital". Danny Phantom tries to enter the building, but when he got close, he cried out in pain as the ghost boy got zapped. He falls to Tucker's feet before getting up.
"Well, we can come back during visiting hours." Tucker suggests. "Or perhaps, not at all."
"We can't do that, Tucker!" Danny counters
Facing his best friend, Danny comments
"The fact that the hospital has a ghost shield makes it even more suspicious."
Then, Danny hatches an idea on another way to infiltrate the hospital.
"If I can't get in like a ghost..." he reverts back to his human form. "Then I'll have to get in, like a kid."
The boys approach the entrance of the hospital while there were two guards who didn't notice their presence yet
"Okay. Just hang out here and wait for me." Danny instructed. "You got my mom's Fenton utility weapon, just in case?"
Tucker pulls out the said weapon from his pocket which was strangely designed like a tube of lipstick
"It's a lipstick and an ecto-blaster, because I'm worth it." Tucker comments with a boasting smile.
"Okay!" Danny jumps into Tucker's arms. "Let's make this good."
Tucker carries Danny who was playing possum to the entrance as the ghost boy thought
"Sam, Jazz, Mariko, I'm coming for you."
The guards took notice as one of them stops Tucker
"This area is restricted! No admittance!"
"But my friend is sick!" Tucker counters convincingly. "He needs to be in the hospital!"
Then, Dr. Rand comes out
"It's alright guards!" He says. "Stand down."
He sees Danny but doesn't notice that the ghost boy was faking it as he asks
"Has this young man been exhibiting any ghost-like symptoms?"
Danny subtly opens one eye before going intangible via his ghost powers. It was enough to convince the doctor as he groaned
"Oh no! You poor, sick, human child! It's worse than I thought!"
He subtly gives a thumbs up sign to someone looking ominously through a window in the upper levels before disappearing. Then, the doctor takes Danny inside the building while Tucker remained outside.
"So...what's the skizzle fizzles?"
As the doctor escorts Danny using a wheelchair, the ghost boy subtly takes a peek to see every teen from Casper High not only groaning, but exhibiting ghost powers; the powers that Danny has while he tries to subtly locate a certain Japanese girl, knowing that she was suffering like they were.
"Mariko, where are you?"
The doctor and Danny pass by Dash who was watching TV before an energy blast fires from his eyes, destroying the appliance and startling the jock in a process.
"Darn!" Dash moans. "Right at the part where he says "you complete me"."
The doctor pauses as two teens passed by
"Now, now son!" He gently scolds. "Must try to control those powers."
Danny sees the doctor run off to stop the teens and waited for a second before seeing that the coast was clear to move about.
He walks down the hall as he sees more teens with ghost powers that were uncontrolled. Then, he sees Kwan who noticed
"Fenton? You're in here too?"
Suddenly, Kwan unknowingly begins making duplicates of himself. The jock was excited at first, but then he and his duplicates run off in terror, much to Danny's envy that a jock has the one power that he hasn't mastered yet.
"Are you kidding?! I've been trying to do that trick for months! That is so wrong!"
Then, Danny hears Jazz's voice
"Hello nurse?! I'm feeling a little lightheaded...literally."
The ghost boy sees his sister as a head in a jar full of ectoplasm
"Jazz...?"
Suddenly, he hears a female scream from a distance. Danny first turns the jar so Jazz won't see anything before he transforms into Danny Phantom and flies towards the source of the sound. However, when he finds the source, it turns out that it was Paulina in a room, reading a magazine and exhaling blue mist.
Much to the Latina girl's delight, she sees Danny Phantom as she said in a loving tone
"You came for me!"
Suddenly, the curtain slides open to reveal Sam in the opposite as she said
"He didn't come for you!"
"Could you excuse me for a minute, miss?" Danny asks
Danny closes the curtain before seeing Sam floating up into the air. The ghost boy helps her down as he asks his best friend
"Are you all right? I heard a scream."
"Yeah. That was me." Sam replies with her arms crossed. "You'd scream too if you were stuck in a sleepover with her." Sam points at Paulina
"Good point." Danny comments before helping Sam down as she floats up again. "Have you seen Mariko anywhere?"
"No I haven't, but I'm guessing she's in a room somewhere down this hall." Sam says
"Thanks, Sam." Danny says in gratitude
However, they hear Paulina calling
"Yoo-hoo! Ghost boy! Are you done talking to the unpopular girl yet?"
Before Danny could answer, Sam tells him
"Forget her! Just find Mariko."
Danny nods before he phases out of the room.
"Hey, where did he go?" Paulina asks in confusion
One by one, Danny phases his head to peek into each hospital room, hoping to find the Japanese girl. After passing the eighth room, the ghost boy finally finds her in the ninth room as she hung her head. Danny sees Mariko exhibiting a ghost sense as she gagged before the blue mist exits her mouth.
"Mariko?"
Mariko instantly recognized his voice as she looked up and smiled happily
"Daniel-san."
The Japanese girl tries to stand up but she felt weak and was about to fall, but Danny caught her in time as he helped her sit on the hospital bed.
"Are you okay?" Danny asks in concern
"I'm not." Mariko replies. "I feel weak and..." she gags again before opening her mouth to let out the same blue mist again. "this frequently happens. What is it?"
"Oh. It's called a ghost sense." Danny replies before demonstrating it. "See? It let's you know a ghost is near."
Mariko smiled before she comments
"That's quite useful."
"Yeah, but I'm just glad you're okay." Danny said in a relieved tone.
"You should find Sam and Jasmine-san." Mariko said out of concern
"It's okay." Danny replied, calming her down. "They're okay for now, but did they say anything to you?"
"No." Mariko explains. "After taking a few tests when they brought me here, I ended up in this room."
Her information worries Danny. However, through the vents, a green gas begins seeping through as the Japanese girl felt drowsy
"Why do I...feel...sleepy...?"
As Mariko passed out on the bed, Danny collapsed onto his knees, feeling drowsy as well
"Even I'm being affected..."
Then, he sees a small man with neon green eyes, gray hair and wearing a business suit with a hospital mask in the room as the man said
"Of course you are! You didn't think you'd be in a real hospital, did you?"
Danny recognized him as he tried to stay awake
"You're Penelope Spectra's assistant, Bertrand!" Then, Danny realized something as he said while facepalming, "Wait! Bert Rand! Bertrand! How could I miss that?"
Danny blacks out before saying,
"Tucker's right; hospitals stink."
Time passed as Danny regained consciousness as he found himself in a different room. Also, he was restrained to a hospital bed as he struggled to break free
"Save it, kid! Those restraints are ghost proof! You're in for the duration." Bertrand says while floating above him.
The ghost boy looks to his left to see several dissection tools on a table. As Betrand floats away, Danny shouts
"Somebody tell me what's happening here!"
Suddenly, lights turn on, slightly blinding him. He looks up to see a female ghost that was pitch black in color with red eyes, floating above. She ominously floated above him as she said
"Allow me. You know how we therapists love to talk it out."
Danny recognized her as he said in horror
"Spectra...?!"
Outside the building, Tucker peeks behind the bushes to see the guards still in front of the entrance before hiding again
"Hm...spooky hospital, ghosts guarding the joint." he shrugs. "Still, no sign that Danny's in any real danger, yet."
Suddenly, he hears Danny's voice shouting from inside the building
"LET ME GO!"
Tucker again shrugs as he convinced himself
"Still, not a cry for help."
"HELP!"
Tucker crosses his arms
"Well, not a cry for me."
"TUCKER!"
"Aw, dang!" Tucker moans
Tucker finds the needed courage as he pulls out the lipstick weapon to extend the firing barrel and pulls out his can of "Foley by Tucker Foley" before walking to the entrance. He sprays himself which causes the ghosts to cough; something that Tucker noticed.
"Oh please. You're ghosts! You have any idea what you smell like?"
Tucker aims the weapon and fires. The recoil of the energy blast pushed him back, despite that the blast hits the guards. He looks at the items before smiles a triumphant one
"Don't worry, Danny! The calvary is coming!" Tucker adopts a lower voice. "Whether he wants to or not."
He proceeds inside, but Tucker wasn't the only one who heard Danny's cry for help.
In her room, Mariko was sleeping due to the knockout gas. However, when she heard Danny's cry for help, despite calling Tucker's name, the Japanese girl instantly awakened as her eyes shot open. Her instincts kick in as she forced herself out of bed, despite being weak. Using the walls to brace and keep herself standing, Mariko pulls out an object from her bomber jacket and pressed a button. It reconfigured into her blaster as she drags herself out of the room.
Once she opens the door, Mariko gags before allowing her own ghost sense to exit her mouth. Remembering Danny's information on what it does, the Japanese girl relied on it as well as her own senses as she looked around before stumbling out of the room and into the hallway, using her blaster as a walking stick.
"I'm coming Daniel-san!" Mariko whispers to herself as she began her search.
In another part of the hallway, Tucker becomes startled seeing a teen phase through the floor. Then, he hears Sam's voice calling him
"Tucker, is that you?"
"Sam?" Tucker looks around. "Where are you?"
"Up here!"
Tucker looks to see Sam floating up against the ceiling. Then, he laughs at her
"And you call me an airhead!"
Sam wasn't amused as she threatened
"You know, you should stop and consider all the vile things I can do to you from up here."
The African boy gets the memo from the goth girl.
"I think Danny is really in trouble." Tucker says as he leans against a wall. "Have you seen him?"
"A while ago." Sam replies. "I told him to look for Mariko. I haven't seen him since." she glances at Tucker worriedly. There's something evil going on here."
"It's a hospital." Tucker emphasizes. "There's always something evil happening here!"
Sam looks around before she sees an air vent and gets an idea.
"Tucker, look!"
Tucker sees the air vent that Sam was pointing to as he realized what it meant.
"Think you could open it for me?"
Sam uses the wall to move to the frame and removes it. Tucker uses IV tubes to tie Sam to it as she lowered her eyes in annoyance. The African boy climbs into the vents before he looks back
"If I'm not back in five minutes, just...float there, okay?"
Sam glares at Tucker with her arms crossed.
Back with Danny, he was still restrained to the hospital bed
"What do you want?!"
"What everybody wants." Spectra flies to the head of the bed. "And for me, that means being beautiful."
The evil ghoul pushes the bed towards a locker before Spectra opens it
"Which is why I'm assembling this."
Inside, there was a sort of exo-skin that looked like a human with red hair in a v-shape formation wearing a black top and neon green that was long-sleeved and revealed a midriff with black pants that had the same color scheme.
"A brand new me; fashioned by only the best teen genetics!"
Danny was sensing a pattern
"So the ghost bugs? The virus?!"
"All part of my plan." Penelope verifies. "I needed to get the children away from the adults, all in one place."
She pressed a button on a vault-like chamber, opening it.
"So I can siphon away the best qualities from each of them." Penelope says with her hands gleefully clasped. "Jazz's brain," she flexes her arms "Dash's muscles," she slicks her hair back "Mariko's perfectly flawless skin."
This confused Danny as he asks
"Um, just out of curiosity, why her and not Paulina?"
"Paulina has a mole. Isn't it obvious?" Penelope says as she narrowed her eyes.
Danny blinks blankly at the revelation
"I had to treat them all with my little ghost virus to get them all in one place." Spectra says while Danny glares at her.
"And the ghost powers?" Danny asks in suspicion
"A side effect." Spectra replies dismissively
Spectra proceeds to push the bed into the chamber as Danny struggled to break free
"You'll never get away with, Spectra!"
"Ooh, but I already have and you, Danny, are the grand prize." Spectra gloats. "I need your genes to lock this perfect body together and stabilize it so my ghost form never burns out, unlike your friends who will eventually become withered husks from their ghost powers, and never grows old!"
Then, Spectra places the bed into the chamber. Suddenly, a machine resembling a vacuum hose comes online and proceeds to suck in a strand of Danny's DNA. The ghost boy gets an idea
"If she's so hot on getting Fenton DNA..." he pulls out the handkerchief that his dad used from his pocket. "Maybe I can provide her with a substitute."
The machine sucks in the handkerchief. Then, a ding sound was heard before the locker opens
"Excellent!" Penelope Spectra says gleefully
"Excellent!" Danny says triumphantly before Spectra pulls him out. "I mean, you fiend!"
Spectra pulls out the exo-skin and enters inside it. Soon, she laughs maniacally before leaving the room. Suddenly, Tucker the vent open and jumps down.
"Tucker! You broke into the hospital!" Danny blinks in confusion. "You broke into a hospital?"
"Stop saying hospital or I'll leave you here to perish." the African boy warns.
Then, Tucker fires at the restraints, freeing Danny and allowing him to transform. The ghost boy grabs his friend and they phase out of the room.
In a lobby, Dash and an unamused Bertrand were sitting on the couch watching an opera on television. Dash sighed in a lovestruck tone
"Man, when she sings "wind beneath my wings", I just go to pieces." he says in a lovestruck tone
Suddenly, Bertrand hears Danny's voice
"What's up, doc?"
He sees the ghost boy floating there with his arms crossed
"You?!"
Danny fires an energy blast at Bertrand, sending him to a wall. It only serves to anger him as he growled before Bertrand started to transform in a monster that resembled a heavily muscular surgeon with red eyes and his brain literally can be seen from the top of his head. Dash witnessed the transformation as well before he silently snuck away before running for his life screaming like a girl. Meanwhile, Bertrand conjures a weapon that was a staff with a blade resembling a scalpel.
"Don't move!" Tucker warns, pointing the Fenton weapon. "I mean it!"
Bertrand growls before swinging the staff, knocking the lipstick out of Tucker's hand.
All the while, Mariko slowly stumbles down the halls before she finally locates Danny and sees Bertrand as well. The Japanese girl tries to pick up her weapon with only one hand, but she was too weak to do so. Using the wall as support, Mariko picks up her blaster with both hands before she manually cocks it and then aims it at Bertrand
"Phantom-san, Tucker, move!"
Danny and Tucker look behind to see Mariko aiming her weapon at the ghost. They also see movement behind the Japanese girl
Several feet away,, Paulina was stumbling through the hall, using the wall as support. Then, she sees Mariko aiming her weapon. At an angle where she was looking, the Latina girl thought the Japanese girl was going to shoot Danny.
"NOOOOOOO!"
Paulina tackles Mariko, making her miss her shot as the blast hits the ceiling, causing a piece of rubble fall onto Bertrand's foot as the ghost roared in pain.
Mariko looks back at a glaring Paulina and glared at the Latina girl
"Don't you dare harm my ghost boy!" Paulina shouts
Suddenly, a boot hits the Latina girl in the head.
"Ow!" Paulina whines before placing her hand on her head to soothe the pain.
The two girls look up to see Sam glaring at Paulina
"Mariko was aiming for the other ghost, you idiot!" Sam scolds. "Now because of you, she wasted a shot!"
Mariko grabs her blaster as she said
"I got more where that came from!"
The Japanese girl cocks it again before aiming at Bertrand again while Danny and Tucker move out of the way. This time, her shot hits the monstrous ghost in the head, knocking him into a wall. As Bertrand returns to his normal form, Danny corners him.
"Dude, your bedside manner wreaks!" he pulls out the Fenton Thermos. "I think it's time we sent you back to Nursing School."
Bertrand screams as he gets sucked into the device before Danny seals the cap.
"Very impressive, but a little late I'm afraid."
They all turn to see Penelope Spectra. However, seeing the ghost in her new form causes Tucker to smile gleefully
"I am in a modeling agency!"
"It's nice, right?" Spectra says. "Smart, beautiful, deadly."
Spectra's hand glows with violet energy before she attacks Danny with it, throwing him around like a rag doll. Tucker fires the Fenton utility weapon at Spectra, but the ghost ducks to dodge the attack. Mariko tries her shot as she cocks her blaster before firing. Spectra narrowly dodged the blast as it missed her by a hair. However, she was caught off-guard when Danny throws a punch at her, sending his opponent to a wall.
Danny charges at Spectra, but she shocks him when he got in range before pinning him with her foot. She hears the sound of a weapon cocking before looking to see Mariko firing her blaster. Spectra fired an energy blast of her own to block it before shifting her focus on Danny. Suddenly, her eyes glowed neon green.
"Ah! There we go." Spectra says in a knowing tone before her body glows. "Your DNA is finally kicking in. Which means I should be all-powerful in three...two...one...!"
Suddenly, Spectra instantly becomes overweight as she noticed in shock and horror.
"What?! What happened?" she placed her hand on her head. "Why do I suddenly feel like blathering on about ghosts? And why do I feel like eating fudge; lots...and lots of fudge?"
Danny smiled triumphantly, knowing his sabotage worked
"You wanted Fenton DNA! Unfortunately, you got it; courtesy of my dad's nose." he boasts
Mariko smiled proudly upon hearing that as she thought
"That move is truly worthy of a ninja."
Suddenly, Spectra's body becomes unstable as it instantly looks like she was composed of mucus. Spectra screamed in horror as she looked at her hands.
As Danny got up, he snarks
"There's a "you blew it" pun here somewhere, but I rather not."
Spectra snarled before she tackles Danny in anger
"You're doomed, kid and you know what?! So are your friends!" Spectra snarls
Danny stares in horror
"Now that those bugs have dug into them, there's nothing that can get them out!"
"That's what she thinks!" Tucker counters before running off.
"Will you please...GET OFF ME!" Danny shouts.
The ghost boy throws a punch to Spectra's nose. Unfortunately, it did no damage as he pulls back his fist which was now covered in mucus as Danny look disgusted. Mariko sees it too and got grossed out as she covered her mouth with her free hand, looking like she was going to puke.
"I think I'm going to hurl!" Mariko says in disgust.
"If our lives weren't at stake, Mariko, you and I both!" Danny comments
Danny kicks Spectra up to the ceiling. However, instead of falling back down, she was suspended by mucus strands. She got angry as she said
"Okay, that's it. Let's boogey!"
"See, that's the kind of pun I was avoiding with the whole "blew it" comment." Danny says unamused.
Meanwhile, Tucker gets to the AC control unit in the vents. He sprays his self-made cologne and sets the switch to full. Then, as Spectra punched Danny to a wall, she suddenly gets blasted back to a wall by Mariko before the Japanese girl collapses in exhaustion and then struggles to get up.
Suddenly, they all detect a foul odor coming from the air vents.
"Huh? Do you smell gym shorts and gingersnaps?" Danny asks
"Actually, I smell tennis shoes and fudge nutters." Spectra replies. "Ugh! What is that ghastly odor?!"
Suddenly, the ghost mosquitoes phase out of the bodies of every teen from Casper High as they were instantly cured from their sickness and started to flee from the hospital. As the bugs try to flee, Spectra sees it and was flabbergasted.
"What?! How is this possible?!"
Then, she once again hears the sound of a blaster cocking as her eyes widened in an "uh-oh" manner. Spectra sees an angry Mariko, fully recovered and this time aiming her blaster with using just one hand. The Japanese girl fires the first shot at Spectra's right shoulder
"That's for the bugs!" she grimaced angrily
Mariko spin cocked her blaster and fires a second shot at Spectra's left shoulder
"That's for infecting everyone here!"
Mariko spin cocked another shot before shooting Spectra's left leg
"That's for endangering our lives!"
Mariko fires a fourth shot at Spectra's right leg after spin cocking her blaster
"That's for using us as guinea pigs!"
Mariko charges the fifth shot and shoots Spectra in the chest, near the neck
"That's for taking us away from our families!"
Then, the Japanese girl spin cocks her weapon for the final shot as she aimed it at the center of Spectra's body
"And this...is for Danny-kun!" Mariko shouts.
Danny's eyes widened at what Mariko recently called him.
The Japanese girl fires the final shot at Spectra's body, reducing her into a pile of mucus all over the wall. Danny proceeds to use the Fenton Thermos to suck in Spectra's remains as well as the ghost mosquitoes before sealing the cap. As Tucker runs up to Danny who transforms back to his human form while Mariko reconfigured her blaster back into a compact object and puts it in the locker of her bomber jacket, the ghost boy says to his African friend
"Way to come through in the clutch, Tuck!"
"Yeah!" Tucker replies in triumph. "My first trip to a hospital and I'm the only who didn't get hurt!"
Unfortunately, Tucker spoke too soon as Sam fell on top of him from the ceiling as he yelled "ow". Mariko gasped as she put her hand over her mouth.
"Can I uh...get my boot back now?" Sam asks.
At Amity Party Hospital, Tucker was in a hospital bed with a cast on his right leg as he was visited by Danny, his parents, Sam, and Mariko.
"Tucker! We just wanted to thank you for getting our Jazz out of that awful hospital!" Jack says in gratitude.
Then, the man chuckles, almost laughing as he adds
"Although...I have to admit the authorities that whole ghost plot thing seems pretty farfetched!"
Maddie laughs as she said in agreement
"Yeah! Everybody knows humans can't get ghost powers!"
As Jack and Maddie leave, Sam walks up to Tucker
"I'm so sorry about your leg!"
"I told you hospitals wreak!" Tucker says with a glare.
"Oh come on, Tuck!" Danny says. "We beat Spectra and you should be good in about eight to ten weeks! It could be worse!"
Then, Mariko's mother, Harumi enters the room with a tray in her hands
"Foley-san, we have your lunch ready."
It turns out that it was lunch bought from the Nasty Burger, confusing Tucker.
"Huh?"
"I told my mother about your fear of hospitals, so she's doing what she can to make you feel more comfortable here." Mariko explains.
"Well..." Tucker pauses to glance at the Nasty Burger food before he smiles. "It's a start."
"So, you want us to stay longer, Tuck?" Danny asks.
"Nah. You guys can go." Tucker replies while waving his hand. "I think I'll be all right."
Before Mariko leaves, she stays behind for a minute to say to Tucker
"I forgot to mention that they just got satellite cable TV."
As the Japanese girl hands Tucker the remote, the African boy says
"This I can get used to."
Then, Mariko leaves the hospital room as Tucker watched TV while eating his lunch. When the Japanese girl exits the hospital, she sees Danny waiting for her at the entrance as the ghost boy noticed.
"Mariko, can we talk?" Danny asks
"Sure." Mariko replies.
"Listen, about what you said back there," he pauses to rubs the back of his head. "What does that mean when you called me, "Danny-kun"?"
Mariko blushed before she glanced away as she said
"Well, it's a term that's used when a girl genuinely likes a guy." she looks into Danny's eyes. "Unless, you prefer "Daniel-san", then..."
"No! In fact..." Danny interrupts before he looks at Mariko with a lovestruck gaze. "I prefer that you call me "Danny-kun" from now on."
Mariko smiles before she wraps her arms around Danny's neck and kissed him. The ghost boy didn't hesitate to return the kiss as he wrapped his arms around her waist while the Japanese girl slowly and subtly lifts her left leg.
And done! Stay tuned for the next chapter where the teens unite to battle certain ghostly pirate onboard his ship.
A/N: I did cut some parts and scenes to rearrange it. Plus, I didn't like the ending of the episode so I created my own ending since Tucker didn't deserve to have an elder man for roommate after what he's been through. Plus, I never liked Paulina one bit.
