AN- I'm absolute rubbish at writing romance scenes, I'm better at action/adventure, but I tried my best, so I hope you like :)

Astrid went over to Hiccups house, and when she got there, she was pleasantly surprised. When she made it up to his room his father was sitting with him and they were having a conversation. A Conversation! Hiccup was still laying down but he could talk and move his arms slightly.

When they noticed Astrid at the door Stoick invited her in, saying that he had some chiefing to do and that someone might as well keep Hiccup company.

He left and Astrid sat down on the bed.

"Hi," Hiccup said.

Astrid leaned over and hugged him. She usually wouldn't have done that but she missed having him as her friend. Plus she was very emotional that day.

"I don't believe it! You can talk! You can move!"

"Ya, I can talk fine but I can't move that much," he explained.

Toothless came up to the bed and Hiccup stiffly managed to bring up his hand and pet him.

"Hi Toothless," Astrid said. Over the past week in her free time she had been taking him out on rides around the island, since Hiccup couldn't.

With Hiccup finally able to talk they could have a real conversation.

Astrid filled him in on what had been going on in the village and about the arts and crafts thing that Magnus the pottery person had put on.

"-And Tuff cannot make anything out of clay to save his life," she was saying. "We both ended up making bracelets instead. Here's the one Tuff made me," she said, holding it up so he could see.

"I made him one sorta like this but my weaving was a bit sloppier, and it was green with dragon teeth charms." She informed him. The Changewing scales changes from an orange to yellow to blue to purple.

Just then she got a really good idea, but she would do it later.

She spent the next few hours with Hiccup, discussing her betrothal, how to make bracelets, different kinds of dragons, and pretty much everything else.

When the sun dipped below the horizon and Stoick came in the door, Astrid bade Hiccup farewell and went back to her house.

She said a quick hello to her parents and then shut herself in her room. She took off her flower crown and set it on her small table. The. She changed into an oversized shirt of her mother's and some baggy pants that she had made out of cotton from a trader a while back. Then she put her hair up into a bun, found a needle and thread, brought out the Changewing skin she got from Mildew and set to work. It was almost 3 in the morning before she got done. But she did it. A Changewing skin cloak. She had run out at about 11 so she and Stormfly went to Changewing island to go find some more. Lucky for her, all the Changewing's were asleep and stayed that way.

The cloak itself wrapped around your body and she made buckles out of the left over skin to fasten it so it wouldn't blow off, and it had a low hanging hood that concealed the wearers face. She made it larger than it had to be, in case she needed to lend it to someone or if she grew some more.

She put the finished cloak on her chair beside her bag of books, then exhausted, fell into a deep sleep.

The next morning she changed into her blue sleeveless shirt and her leather skirt and her brown leggings, grabbed a torch, a book and some food, wrapped them in her cloak and headed out. She grabbed Stormfly and they flew over the island. Once they blew off some steam, she landed in the village and Stormfly took off, probably to go play with Toothless. She wandered around for a bit, grabbing some feathers and leaves she found, and tucking them into her folded cloak.

Just as she was headed to see if she could find Tuff, something snuck up behind her and scared her so bad she dropped her cloak, turned around and punched who ever it was in the gut.

It turned out to be Tuffnut. Oops.

"Oh my Thor, Tuff don't scare me like that!" She scolded him, finding her cloak and picking it up.

Tuff caught his breath, and then after making sure he didn't have any fractured ribs, smirked.

"Wow, did I manage to scare the fearless Astrid Hofferson? And more so, did you just get scared?"

Astrid blushed. "What!? No!" Then she quickly changed the subject.

"You know that Changewing skin I got from Mildew? Well I did something really cool with it. I'll show you but not here. Let's go to the caves and visit Garf the second, and I'll show you there."

"Okay," he said.

When they got there Astrid took out the torch and some flint and lit the torch.

"Where'd you get that?" Tuff asked, looking astonished.

She smiled at him and stepped into the caves.

She could feel the darkness pressing in on her, but she had her torch and Tuffnut, so she was ok.

Soon they came to the cavern that had the hammock, table and chair. She stood by the table and then took out the book, food, leaves and feathers from her cloak, then unfurled the cloak itself. When it wasn't in camouflage mode, it was an orange, yellow and green ombré, from where she got different coloured skins.

"Wow!! That's so cool!" Tuff said, looking it up and down. "Does it work?"

In answer, Astrid put the cloak around her, fastened the buckles and put up the hood. She was invisible.

"Where's you go?" He asked, walking around with his hands out. She swirled around the room, occasionally calling out to him and tapping him on the back or shoulder. When she took off the hood Tuff was amazed.

"That's so cool!!! Can I try it on?"

She nodded, taking off the cloak and handing it to Tuff. He swirled it around himself and tried to do up the buckles, but ended up failing miserably.

Astrid chuckled and came over to help him. She did the buckle at his waist, then the one at his chest, and finally the one at his collar. When she was finished she looked up into his eyes. She had never noticed before, but his eyes were a stormy grey with flecks of blue and green in them. She felt something, something pulling her closer to him, like a magnet.

She quickly stepped back, hoping her face wasn't red. She watched as Tuff pulled up the hood and became entirely invisible. She looked around, to see if she could spot him. She felt something behind her, and whirled around. Tuff was there, the hood down so only his face was visible. He unbuckled the cloak with little hindrance, which was odd, considering that he needed her help to buckle it in the first place.

He placed the cloak on the table beside Garf the second's house and grinned.

"That was awesome!" He said. Then he turned and picked up one of the feathers. "What are these for anyway?"

"I picked them up around the village to add onto Garf the second's house, to make it better. And also, a castle."

"Great idea A."

Astrid came over to the table and started looking for Garf the second. She saw him curled up under one of the mushrooms. She gently picked him up and placed him on some moss. He poked his head up and looked at her for a moment before going back to sleep.

They found a few more rocks and sticks, and Tuff went out onto the beach to find some shells for the castle.

Soon the castle was almost done. It was on a big flat piece of driftwood so that they could move it, had rocks for a base and sticks for walls, with branches sticking out for him to climb on, and little ramp's going all the way up the walls, connecting the branches. Tuff even made a tiny table out of a rock and put the leaves on it.

When Astrid put the last feather into place, they moved it down onto the floor, where it stood about 3.5 feet tall.

"I think we did good," said Tuff.

"Well it's better than the watch tower you and Ruff tried to built at the edge," said Astrid with a smirk, remembering the time that seemed so long ago. Hiccup wanted the twins to build a watch tower, and they did, but it fell over. They had to rebuild it 3 times before getting it to work.

"Shut up," he said.

"Make me," Astrid retorted.

Then Tuff whirled her around so she was facing him and he kissed her.

It was quick, barely more than 3 seconds but it felt like forever.

Astrids eyes widened and she looked at Tuff, her mind going completely blank.

For a second Tuff was happy, then he thought, oh no, what did I do?!? She's gonna kill me!

Tuff looked kinda scared, like he was expecting her to get mad or something.

Her brain was going so fast it was pretty much blank, and her gut was full of fireworms.

She leaned forward and kissed him back, just a peck on the lips, but it was good enough for them.

They were both blushing now, and Tuff sank to the floor, as if shocked at the prospect that she might actually like him back. Astrid came and sat down beside him, slowly moving her fingers so they touched his.

"You kissed me," he said, like he couldn't believe it. "You actually kissed me."

"Well, ya. And you kissed me first," she said.

"But why would you kiss me? I mean, I'm me!"

"Exactly, you're funny, smart, talented, and you get me in a way that even Hiccup didn't!Plus you came up with the name Garf the second, which is pure genius," Astrid said with a smile.

Tuff smiled. "And you are the most beautiful, smart, amazing and scary girl I've ever known."

They were both smiling like idiots now. They both stayed on the floor holding hands and talking about small things for the next little while.

Soon Astrids back started to hurt so she stood up and stretched.

"Come on, let's sit up here," she said. Tuff got up and went to go sit on the chain but Astrid sat down on the hammock and gestured for him to come sit beside her. He smiled and sat on the hammock, then tipped it over, spilling them both onto the floor. They both started laughing, and then got up and sat back on the hammock.

Over the course of an hour they wound up laying down, Tuff on his back with one foot on the floor, and Astrid on her stomach, laying on his arm. Soon she fell asleep, with Tuff gently rocking the hammock with his foot.

Astrid had stayed up very late the night before making the cloak, but she woke early as ever, so she needed the extra sleep. By the time she woke up it had been over an hour, making it close to lunch. She got up and stretched, then walked over to the table, where she picked up a loaf of bread, some yak jerky and some cheese. She brought the food over to Tuff, who sat up. They soon finished their food, then started talking again, and soon laying back down, this time Astrid had her book and Garf the second, and was laying beside Tuff, but his arm was still around her. The torch was on the wall beside them and gave off a nice warm glow, and Garf the second was curled up on her shoulder, so she had enough light to read.

She became immersed in the book, not aware of anything but the words on the pages. Tuff looked over at her and smiled. He decided that he liked watching her read. Her different expressions during different scenes, the small noises she made and words she mumbled when things were either going well or not at all.

Tuff chuckled when she made a face at the book. She glanced up at him.

"What?"

"Nothing," he said.

She went back to her book and soon sighed and closed it.

"Are you done?" Tuff questioned.

"Not yet," she replied.

"Then why'd you stop?"

"Something bad is gonna happen soon and the characters are going to be complete muttonheads and do something embarrassing and I'm not ready to handle that yet."

He laughed. "I know the feeling."

Then he saw that the torch was almost out. "I think it's getting late, we should probably get back to the village."

"Ya, probably. We should come back soon. Not tomorrow, I'm going hunting with my dad, but the day after." Astrid said.

"Works for me."

"I'm bringing a cushion and some blankets though, it's kinda cold in here."

They got all of their things together and headed back out to the beach. They discovered that it was almost sun down, so they spent the rest of the daylight on the beach building sandcastles.

When it was almost fully dark they said goodbye and headed back to their houses, never feeling better.
