VII
The first time ever I saw your face And the first time ever I kissed your mouth And the first time ever I lay with you The first time ever I saw your face
I thought the sun rose in your eyes
And the moon and the stars were the gifts you gave
To the dark and the endless skies, my love
To the dark and the endless skies
I felt the earth move in my hand
Like the trembling heart of a captive bird
That was there at my command, my love
That was there at my command, my love
I felt your heart so close to mine
And I knew our joy would fill the earth
And last 'til the end of time, my love
And it would last 'til the end of time, my love
Your face
Your face
Your face...
Your Face, Roberta Flack
Their bodies were pressed together, both of them still breathing heavily and trembling with still unspent passion. Their ample breasts were pressed together, their excruciatingly sensitive nipples rubbing together. Though pressed together, both had their fingers inside the other, stilled at the moment, coming down from yet another Earth-shattering climax. Their free hand roamed the face of the other, touching cheeks and lips, and running fingers through hair, not able to feel enough contact.
For not the first time that night, Blair had tears of unrestrained joy in her eyes as she continued to shake. She wasn't shaking from her latest climax, nor because she was cold, but because she was in the grips of such overwhelming love and emotion toward the brunette whose sparkling green eyes looked back at her.
"Joey", she said, her voice a mere husk of what it normally was, unable to articulate more. "Joey...I never thought til tonight that I could love someone like I love you at this moment. It's overwhelming."
Jo Polniaczek leaned in for a soft, gentle but still demanding kiss. "I've imagined it since the first day I met you, Blair", she said, a trembling smile on her own face. "The first time we made love...what I imagined paled to the reality. And I've never stopped falling more in love with you."
Jo started to move her fingers that were buried inside her lover, but Blair stilled her. "Just...let's just lie here for the moment. I want to hold you as close as I can, baby. I can't get enough of touching you."
"Just keep touching me, don't try to stop, Princess. God it's amazing how much I love you."
"Never stop loving me, my barbarian", Blair said with a smile, capturing Jo's lips in another kiss.
And this was simply the first night of their long weekend together.
Sunday Morning
Jo Polniaczek was laying on the bed with two pillows under her head. Her hands were hooked under he knees, her knees and legs spread wide and high in the air. Below her, Blair Warner was taking long, leisurely strokes with her tongue from Jo's puckered rear opening, over her perineum, up to her soaking wet center, then sucking on Jo's clit, then back down again, in a fast, demanding rhythm.
Blair could remember when the thought of licking another girl or woman seemed revolting to her-before she discovered how much she loved Jo. Now, especially when her memories returning, she wanted to spend an eternity between her lover's athletic legs.
Lapping up at Jo's essence, she stopped to look at her lover. "God, you taste so good, Joey. There's nothing like it in the world."
"Maybe", Jo responded, between pants and moans, "you outta bring a straw next time."
Blair put her tongue on Jo's throbbing clit, laughing at the remark, sending a jolt through Jo. "You are a barbarian."
"Damn right, I am", Jo responded as Blair now concentrated on the bundle of nerves. "Yeah, keep doing that, Princess...oh, right there! I'm not gonna...oh my God...blondie!"
Jo moaned loudly as her whole body shuddered then tensed up as another climax rolled over her. They had lost count as to how many times they had climaxed during this glorious weekend of rediscovery. They had hardly been dressed since Friday night, either having sex on the bed, sex on the couch, on the kitchen table, in the shower. They even ate their meals in the nude, just relishing the site of the others' body.
Blair had been merciful and released Jo's clit, but softly licked and kissed her lover's beautiful folds, and occasionally inserting her tongue inside Jo's vagina.
Jo had released her legs, lest she get some severe cramps. As her breathing steadied, Blair crawled up on her lover, till she was face-to-face with Jo, the brunette pulling her in for a hard kiss, Jo tasting herself all over Blair's face. The kiss faded, but Blair stayed on top of her lover.
"We're gonna look awfully funny, when we walk into mom and dad's house, walking like we've been riding a horse for three days", Blair said with a giggle.
Jo burst out in laughter. "I hadn't thought about that, but I bet tomorrow we're both sore as hell", she quipped. "I think for Ma and Pa's sake, we suck it up and walk normally."
Now Blair burst out laughing. "I just sucked it up, Joey", she said with a wolfish grin, "and it was delicious."
"Like I said, bring a straw next time, Princess."
Blair playfully slapped Jo on the side of her ass, making Jo yip and laugh.
"We have to put on clothes pretty soon", Blair said, sounding disappointed. "I'd rather lay here naked with you."
"Preaching to the choir, blondie, but we've got time to take a shower and clean up before we have to go and get DC."
Blair sighed. "Does it make us bad parents that we've barely thought about our son all weekend?"
"Nah", Jo said dismissively. "It means we needed the time alone to find each other again." Jo tenderly put one hand on Blair's cheek. "And I do think we've found each other again, Blair." She gave a chaste kiss to Blair's lips.
"This is a weekend I'll never forget, babe", Blair said, leaning her forehead on Jo's. "I love you so...we always say it, the words just don't do it justice."
"Maybe", Jo observed, "but don't ever stop saying it."
"I love you, Joey. I love you so much that it overwhelms me."
"You're everything to me, Princess", Jo responded, with another kiss. "I need you as much as I need air to breathe. I love you, baby."
Reluctantly, they crawled out of bed, taking a shower together, which, of course, meant one last orgasm for each of them to top off the weekend. They they prepared to get back to the real world.
Blair and Jo arrived at the Polniaczek's home in Jericho. Both women had helped Rose and Charlie furnish and decorate the house, and it really felt like a second home to both women. The one thing Jo loved about her folks moving there, and now enjoying retirement is that it hadn't fundamentally changed them as people. They never had expected to have more money than they could ever use, so they saw no reason to change that much. The only difference now is that instead of working, they were often on the road, visiting different parts of the country.
"So how was the little hellion this weekend", Jo inquired as she hugged both of them, Blair doing the same.
"Monica said he had a blast with her, and he's had a great time here", Rose smiled back at her daughter.
"Did Mother really say 'blast', mom?" Blair snickered at trying to picture that.
"Well, dear, that was a figure of speech, but I've never seen Monica so at ease as she is now."
"I don't want to look a gift-horse in the mouth, mom", Blair added, "but it's amazing what happens when something like what I've been through happens. It's made her a better person."
"I don't think you mom has ever been a bad person, Blair", Charlie opined, "but she was brought up to be a certain way. It's amazing what happens when one of your children is suddenly in mortal danger." Blair and Jo understood he was talking about both of them, Jo's five-year disappearing act, and Blair's accident.
Jo had picked up DC. "Good Lord, champ", she groaned. "I'm glad you're walkin' now 'cause your Mama Jo can't carry you everywhere, much as you weigh."
He had also begun to say simple words that he understood. "Mamas".
"Yeah, mama's have a growing boy. Did you get a good lunch today?"
"Foo", he said in the baby-speak.
"Yes, Jo", Rose said with a smile, "He had a very good lunch."
"I was gonna give him a beer", Charlie quipped, "but I decided to wait another twenty years before I do that." Jo and Blair gave him mock death-stares.
"You're lucky I understand your warped sense of humor, dad", Blair said, smirking at him and giving him a hug. "It took me forever to figure it out."
"See?" He beamed back at her. "We have rubbed off on ya!" They all laughed.
They stayed for a short while longer before heading back to Rockville Centre. After saying their goodbyes, they grabbed DC by both hands and walked him out to the SUV.
Blair looked over at Jo. "You think your parents noticed?"
Jo snickered. "My body's so sore I'm surprised I could walk after the workout we had this weekend, Princess. But I don't think they noticed."
Watching their daughters and grandson depart, Charlie snickered. "Rose, my dear, is it me, or did they look a little...tender when they were walking?"
"Oh, shut up, Charlie", she admonished him, but bursting out in laughter at the remark.
In New York City, Boots St. Clair was well into her studies to become a photographer, enjoying every minute of it. She had a wonderful mentor in a woman named Sidney Fellows, who was a free-lance photographic journalist, and had photographs that had been published in almost every newspaper in the country, as well as online.
Sidney was married and a mother or two, who had done enough globe-trotting for a while, and was now wanting to give back to the profession she loved, yet able to be home every night for her husband and children. She liked Boots quirky mannerisms, thinking they might serve the younger woman well in this field.
One Friday after a productive day of instruction, Sidney did invite Boots to go out for dinner and drinks, meeting up with a friend and another mentor at the New York Photography Institute, and the woman she was currently instructing.
Arriving at Carragher's Pub & Restaurant on 39th street, the other two were already at a table, waving at Sidney as she approached.
"Sidney", another woman about her age said with a smile and a hug, "good to see you girl! Come sit down!"
Boots was always a little shy around new people, but had been working on overcoming that problem and she didn't hesitate to sit next to Sidney.
"Barbara", her mentor said, looking at Boots, "this is one of my best friends in the world, Vanessa Palmer, and this is her student, Georgia Compton. Georgia and I have meet before."
Boots extended her hand. "Nice to meet both of you", she said shyly.
"Pleasures ours, Barbara", Georgia replied, looking directly at Boots. Georgia was about the same height as Boots, but where Boots was rather small physically, Georgia was all curves, much like Blair Warner. Georgia had jet-black hair and electric blue eyes. Boots immediately felt her heart skip a beat taking in the woman for the first time.
Boots blushed. "You can call me Boots, Georgia", she said with some lingering shyness. "It's a nickname that I got in school years before, and I kind of like it better than Barbara."
"Boots?" Georgia grinned. "You like tennis shoes, eh?"
The comment brought Boots up short for a moment, then she burst out laughing. "Darn, figured it out, didn't you?" The four of them shared a laugh.
And while they laughed, the two older women looked at each other, each raising their eyebrows.
Blair had been at the kitchen table, looking up information on possibly starting a foundation of non-profit to do work for lesbian and gays, and the problems they faced daily in trying to gain acceptance in the larger world. After the things she and Jo had been called over the years, with what Jo had gone through before she ran away, and Jo's nightmare after Blair's accident, she wanted to use some of her net worth to help others.
Jo had gone in to change David-or so she thought, but when they didn't come out for a while, Blair got up and headed toward the bedrooms. She could hear Jo talking and David gabbing in the bathroom. She hadn't seen them enter that room.
She opened the door and Jo was kneeling next to the tub, David splashing and playing with some of his bath toys, a beaming smile gracing Blair's face.
"Two people are making an awful racket in here", she said, sitting down on the toilet near the tub. Despite her recovery, bending down on the floor and on her knees might be too much for the rebuilt appendages.
"Hey Mama Blair's here, DC!"
"Mama bear", DC squeaked as he saw his birth mother.
Jo always laughed when he said that. "Even when he learns to talk normal, I hope he always calls you mama bear, Princess. It's so damn perfect."
"Oh, turn blue, you barbarian", Blair retorted, but with a laugh. "But when it comes to this young man, you're damn right I'm a mama bear."
"That makes two of us." Jo turned to rub some baby shampoo in the little toddler's scalp. "Wanna come down here and wash his noggin'?"
"I don't think my legs and hip can take getting on the floor like that, Joey", Blair said evenly.
"Yeah, but you have no trouble getting on your knees when..."
"Shush, Joanna Marie" Blair chided her, smacking her lightly on the back. "No talk of our sex life in front of DC. And that's different. A soft bed versus a hard floor?"
"I'm just teasin' you blondie", Jo said with a chuckle. "To be honest, after this weekend, I wasn't sure if I could get down on the floor like this while giving him a bath."
That made Blair giggle. "Yeah, it was a pretty, uh...physical weekend, wasn't it?"
"Oh, just a little bit", Jo replied, a sultry look in her eyes.
"Keep your eyes and your activities on David, thank you please", Blair said with arched eyebrows. "Maybe if your good tonight..."
"I dunno, Princess", Jo said honestly, "I think we both need the sleep tonight. I think since we got up Friday morning, we might have had six hours of actual sleep."
"Sucks to get older, doesn't it?"
Jo nodded. "And we ain't even old yet." She turned to David. "Just wait til you Mama's are old ladies, champ, you're gonna go outta your mind."
Blair simply giggled. "I can't wait to see that myself."
Jo finished the bath, Blair handing her a towel to dry off their son. When Jo stood, Blair was standing right next to her, with a loving smile on her face. "You two are all I need", she said softly, leaning in to kiss her son's cheek first, then giving a warm kiss on the lips to her lover.
"Ditto, babe", Jo said with her own smile. "This makes life worth livin', ya know?"
They kissed again, then left the bathroom to change David for bed.
February 4, 2005
Blair was still weighing her options in starting a foundation that would help gays and lesbians on a number of different fronts. Blair Warner had been groomed to be the CEO of a major corporation, yet she was finding out that starting a foundation, let alone a corporation, was a daunting task. She told Jo once that she she still didn't know what she didn't know when it came to all of this. Some people might have been confused by that statement, but Jo had got it immediately.
She was home with DC, alternating between looking up information on her computer and playing with her son. Jo had been visiting her friends over at Brooklyn Honda-Kawasaki, whom she kept in regular contact with. Blair and DC had even visited a few times.
As Blair was copying and pasting some information from an article into her own files on non-profits, she heard the front door open, and the door unceremoniously slam.
"Blair!" Jo rarely yelled for any reason like she had just yelled. "Blair, go to ! You won't believe the news that just broke!"
"Joey, keep your knickers on", Blair said in surprise at her lover's excitement. "What's going on?"
Jo was too excited to answer as she took a seat next to Blair, grabbing the blonde's laptop.
"Jo, I was looking up some..."
"I minimized it, blondie", Jo said with a smile on her face. "I'm pretty good with these computers now." Jo typed in the web address for CNN.
The site came up, Jo pointing to the top right hand corner of the page, where there was an article posted under "Breaking News". Jo turned the screen back toward Blair.
The headline blew Blair away: New York Judge Rules Same-Sex Marriage Ban Illegal.
Blair looked at Jo, the two of them grinning.
It wouldn't mean that same-sex couples could get married-not for some time, but the headline had galvanized Blair into realizing that, yes, she would give her all to make sure that she and Jo could one day marry.
