Chapter Seven:

Barbara modified the codes so the door could open. The BAU and most of her team and the bat family piled in.

Reid stared at in wonder.

"Spence, don't!" J.J. shouted.

"What happens if he doesn't accept?" Rossi said.

"The Green Lantern usually chooses those whose minds are open to the idea," Dick said.

"Please don't Spence!" J.J. pleaded.

Reid looked her in the eyes. It was a look of determination.

"You don't get to choose."

"Couldn't this disrupt the multiverse more?" Garcia asked. "He can't leave us!"

"Maybe, he was meant to," Barbara said. "I think I've been too hard on you Penelope."

"This can't happen!" J.J. said. "Spence, I love you! That was my confession! Don't leave me!"

"I don't have a future with you Jennifer," Reid said. "Not with the boys, and Will, in the picture. I love you too, J.J."

Reid held out his hand. The ring flew onto his finger.

"In brightest day, in blackest night,
No evil shall escape my sight!
Let those who worship evil's might
Beware my power, Green Lantern's light!"

In a flash of blinding green light, Reid was transformed. The suit was mostly black with a green vest-like configuration over his front. She noticed he also gained some muscle mass. There was no mask included.

"How do you feel?" Barbara asked.

"I don't know," he said. "The suit fits like a glove."

"Make something, make something!" Dinah said.

Reid looked at the mess of a glass. He created a massive broom, and swept to the side.

Helena laughed.

"That was very in character."

The system crackled.

"A lynch mob has formed around Harvey Bullock in Dooley Square," Steph (AKA Spoiler) said.

"We don't have enough man power to disburse the crowd," Tim Drake reported.

"How many people?" Reid asked.

"Seventy-eight," Cass said.

Reid closed his eyes. Twenty agents who looked like former and current members of the team emerged.

"Could you make me taller?" Rossi asked.

"Enough banter, let's roll," Drake said and pulled up the bat-copter.

"Reid, are you sure?" Barbara asked.

He nodded once at her, and then rose through the opening in the glass, with the agents he made.

Barbara turned to the team.

"I know you all want to watch, but we have work to do."

They began to disburse.

J.J. rushed to Garcia and shook her.

"This is all your fault! You had to go stick your nose where it didn't belong! None of this would have happened if you hadn't gone crazy!"

Barbara saw it in J.J.'s eyes. It was only there for a half second, but Babs recognized it instantly.

She exchanged a nod with Dinah as Garcia broke down sobbing. The BAU was shouting and trying to break them apart. Dinah carefully stepped forward and put her lips to a distracted J.J.'s right ear.

J.J. collapsed.

"What did you do?" Prentiss asked.

"When I scream at a certain decibel, it causes one to faint."

"Take her to the examination room," Barbara said.

Dinah picked her up bridal style.

"Babs what is going on?" Garcia said.

"Someone from this reality crossed into yours, prior to the season finale," Barbara said. "I need to run tests to confirm it, but I think J.J. has been injected with Joker venom."

"How could you tell?" Lewis asked.

"I saw a look on her face I only see among people infected."

"If I remember my batman cartoons right, don't they make people look petrified and crazy?" Simmons said.

"That's Joker gas. As ridiculous as it sounds, there is a difference between Joker gas and Joker venom."

Barbara addressed her team.

"Everyone, get to work."

The remaining members disbursed.

The BAU followed Barbara and Dinah into what looked like a doctor's exam room. Dinah placed J.J. on the table.

"How do you test for it?" Alvez asked.

"A simple blood test," she said and pricked one of J.J.'s fingers. She took the sample put it in a machine.

"This will take about ten minutes," Barbara said.

She checked her com channel.

"How is Reid doing, Dick?"

"Um, amazing?" he said. "Chatting up the criminals isn't his style."

"Where are you now?"

"There's a break-in at the armory."

"Keep me posted."

"Will do."

Barbara sighed and rubbed the side of her head.

"I can't think. I'm too tired."

"Two actors have won Oscars for playing for playing the character," Garcia said. "He's the most famous villain of all time honestly."

"No one competes with him," Simmons said. "Except maybe Thanos, of the Marvel Universe."

"Other villains can kill huge portions of the population," Garcia said. "But none are as entrancing as the Joker."

"How do we stop something like this?" Dinah said. "Make the Joker less scary?"

Barbara closed her eyes and thought. Then she opened her eyes, as the readings came out.

"It's joker venom," Barbara said. "Dick, tell everyone, including Zatanna and Reid, to converge on Crime Alley."

"I hate to sound like a broken record," Garcia said. "But what's going on?"

"We're going through the looking glass."
