Chapter Seven: Knowing Me For Who I Am
Later that night, they found a forest nearby, so they can set up camp for tonight. Knuckles gathered some firewood, Tails was repairing some weapons, Sonic got some food from a nearby market, and Amy was gently petting Ember on the snout.
"Right, that's the firewood found, now, I need some way to light this up." Knuckles wondered.
Suddenly, a big burst of flames set the wood on fire, and Knuckles yelped in surprise. He looked over at Ember, and saw smoke coming from her nose.
"Alright, Ember, can you warn me next time you do that, please?!" Knuckles stated in shock.
Ember roared with a laugh, then she fell asleep. Amy stopped petting her, and lets her sleep.
"Well, all the weapons are repaired." Tails mentioned.
"Here's the food. This shouldn't take too long to make." Sonic stated, as he placed the meat on the stick above the fire.
"Excuse me, Sonic, may I talk with you for a second?" Amy asked.
"Oh, sure. Knuckles, keep an eye on the food, and make sure that cooks properly." Sonic asked.
"Will do." Knuckles replied.
Sonic then made his way towards Amy, lifts his arm up, and Amy wraps both arms around his. They both then walked further into the forest, so they can have their private talk. Once they were out of sight, they both stopped.
"Alright, what is it you wanted to talk about, Amy?" Sonic wondered.
"Well, I am just wondering about you. Like who you really are, where you're really from. All my life I have been raised here, and I have never seen any other hedgehog like you, emerald green eyes, blue fur." Amy started.
"Well, to tell you the truth Amy, I am actually not from around here. In fact, I am not even from this world." Sonic started.
"I had a feeling that was the case." Amy said. Sonic gasped in shock.
"You knew?!" Sonic exclaimed in shock.
"I have known for a very long time, I heard a prophecy many years ago that an unknown source would one day come here from another dimension." Amy explained.
"Well, what a coincidence that is." Sonic mentioned.
"So what is your world like? What are you like?" Amy asked.
"Well, normal every day thing, I have a sister, who's married, they have a daughter, which became my niece. My niece means the world to me. She always loved coming to see me, for stories, and the stuff I make for her. I am actually a craftsman back in my world." Sonic explained.
"Are you not married, no children of your own?" Amy wondered.
"No. Just me, and my work." Sonic answered.
"You've never been married? Is there nobody special? Like, is there a woman in your life?" Amy wondered again.
"Nope, nobody else. I once tried to find somebody, but no matter what, I never found anyone I considered to be the woman of my dreams. Not in school, college, or anywhere for that matter." Sonic stated.
"Well, I am so sorry to hear that." Amy sadly said.
"No worries. I mean, I don't really think about that, I like to keep that in the back of my head. Because what's the point in searching, knowing it'll never happen. I guess it just shows, there is nobody out there for me. I just gave up searching, and even if I did search, nobody would want me." Sonic sadly stated.
"Why would you think that?" Amy wondered.
"I guess, I'm just not good enough for anyone." Sonic finished.
Amy smiles warmly, and places a hand on Sonic's face. Sonic gasped in surprise, and just looks at Amy. Staring into her jade green eyes.
"Now Sonic, there is always someone out there, whether you want to believe it or not." Amy smiles, and Sonic couldn't help but smile back.
"I hope you're right. But the thing is, this world we are in now, in my world, I created this world as a fictional board game. One day, my fictional character known as Black Doom somehow brought this book to me, I read out a spell, and it brought me here." Sonic explained.
"Is this why you wanted to find and destroy Black Doom? Hopefully find a way to bring you home?" Amy asked.
"That's what I am hoping. Because you see, in the board game, you win by defeating him, and now I am in the world based on my board game, I am hoping by beating him, that will send me home." Sonic mentioned.
"So, if you created this world, that means you've created everybody, including me. Where did your idea come from to create me?" Amy wondered.
"Honestly, I never had any inspiration. I know this will sound heartbreaking to you, but you were just a recently new addition before I was brought here. I just finished your model, I gave you a name, and that was about it. You were improvised, as I knew I needed a princess in this game, so I made the princess as beautiful, as I could. As for uses and whatnot, that never crossed my mind." Sonic sadly stated.
Amy suddenly grabbed Sonic's hands, Sonic gasped in shock once again.
"Well, I think it's wonderful. You have just shown that you didn't need inspiration, you just used your imagination to create me. That came from the heart." Amy smiled. Sonic smiles back.
"Well, I am glad you took the news well." Sonic stated.
Suddenly, the nearby village had soft music playing. Sonic and Amy heard this music playing, and Amy just stared at Sonic with a smile.
"Music sounds wonderful tonight, Sonic. Kind of makes me feel like dancing." Amy told him.
"Uh, well, as much as I would love to, I just, well, I don't exactly know how to dance." Sonic warned.
"It's simple. Just hold one of my hands, then put your other arm round my waist. Then you just follow my lead." Amy told him.
As they got in position, they both then slow danced for a while to the sound of music. Amy was impressed that Sonic learned it so fast. They slow danced around for twenty minutes, then they both stopped.
"See? Not so hard, was it? Born natural." Amy complimented.
"Well, you made it easy for me." Sonic smiled.
They stared into one another's eyes, filled with lust. Suddenly a white aura began to surround them. This caught Sonic and Amy by surprise.
"Amy, is this anything to do with your magic?!" Sonic stated in shock.
"No, this has nothing to do with me. I have no idea what's causing this." Amy explained.
"This is so weird." Sonic thought.
"Anyway, Sonic, we better head back to camp. The food will be done, and we need rest for the next adventure." Amy stated.
"Yeah, better go now. And Amy?" Sonic stated.
"Yes, Sonic?" Amy wondered.
"Thank you for believing in me, and the dance lesson." Sonic smiled.
"You're welcome." Amy smiled back.
After that, they both head back to the camp with Tails, Knuckles and Ember. They had their supper, which was a roasted steak, then shortly after that, they all fell fast asleep. What will await of them in their next adventure?
