Rosin, Bass, and Apologies.

RRRRRRIIINNNGGG! As the bell signaling the end of lunch went off as Thalia groaned

"Uggghh noOOOOOO I don't want to go!" she cried as she slung her backpack over her shoulder and sighed. Thalia never originally wanted to be in orchestra, she wanted to play the drums in band, but since her brother, Jason was already in band, she was left to join orchestra.

As she opened her locker, she grabbed her double bass and bow as she set it down.

"Come on class, five minutes!" yelled the assistant teacher, Mr.D

Thalia swore silently, she hated Mr. D, heck Apollo was a better teacher than he was, but alas, she set her backpack down, sat on the stool, and grabbed a tuner left behind from another class on her stand as she picked up her bass, adjusted it and tightened her bow. She placed the tuner on the bridge of the bass and began to tune her strings.

"Hey Thals…" whispered a voice as Thalia looked up and Luke was grinning at her, Luke was the only person she knew in the entire orchestra and the only person she talked to, Luke was one of the cellos in the section.

"What's up?" asked Thalia.

"Do you have more rosin?" asked Luke

"No, my rosin won't work for your cello bow Luke, besides, where's my rosin?"

"I borrowed it, here... oh whoops." Luke mumbled as he handed back to Thalia a broken circular bass rosin.

"You threw my rosin? And BROKE it?" screeched Thalia furiously.

"Sorry! I thought you had more, so I got some from your backpack and then as I was going to get more sheet music, it fell off the stand and broke!" Luke exclaimed

"Luke, do you have any idea how expensive bass rosin is?!" Thalia cried

"Uh...no…" Luke squeaked

"It's around 12 freaking dollars Luke! TWELVE. Or even more than that!"

"Well I needed rosin okay?!"

"Well you could've asked from your section!"

"I know I'm sorry!"

"Grace! Castellan! Pay attention! A string, now!" Mr. D barked as he pressed on the remote for the metronome as Thalia glared at Luke,

"I'm going to get you for this Luke.." she hissed as she began to tune her A string to the drone.

As the tuning session continued, Mr.D waved his arms and everyone stopped

"Okay, so all of you shall go into the practice rooms and practice your music and I want no. complaints! If you complain you'll stay after class and help me fix instruments, understand?!" yelled Mr.D

"Yes Mr. D." the class droned as they all stood up and one of the violins opened the door to the practice rooms across the hall as Thalia left her tuner and backpack behind as she grabbed her sheet music, bass and bow as she slowly walked towards the door.

As she got closer she realized her bass wouldn't fit..

"How am I supposed to bring my bass through here? It won't fit!" whispered Thalia.

"Here, let me help you." said one of her fellow bass partners, Beckendorf as he set his bass down across the hall and he adjusted the bass so it would fit.

"Oh thanks."

"No problem." Beckendorf said as he picked up his bass and walked towards a practice room. Thalia picked up her stuff and went inside a practice room before realizing Luke was already there.

Thalia set her bass down, and put her music and bow on a stand.

"Not you again…"
"Look, I'm sorry, okay! I'll buy you a new rosin okay?! Please!" Luke cried

"Ugh, fine. Let's just play the pieces." Thalia said as she flipped the sheet music and sat on her stool as she picked up her bass and bow and began to play.
