The police came soon after the pair left Inko's room, and got their testimony from Izuku. They cross-matched the different descriptions of the villain, and told Aizawa they would send any reports of an identity to him as quick as they could. As the hero walked with Izuku back to his room, he had some thoughts running though his mind. The first being that something felt off, like he forgot about some important information. The second being that Izuku had yet to let go of Aizawa's hand. He didn't mind, in fact he felt glad that the kid was so attached to him. The only other person that was this close to him of Present Mic, but he was annoying. Izuku actually made Shota smile. Not many can do that. He also felt some sort of responsibility to care for the boy, and was about to question him about where he would go, until they arrived at Izuku's room. When they entered, they weren't alone.
"Ah, hello Shota! This must be Izuku, correct?" A creature stated, standing on Aizawa's old chair.
Shota mentally slapped himself. He had forgotten that Nezu was coming to the hospital with Recovery Girl. He motioned Izuku into the room , and told him to take his spot on the bed again.
"Hello, Midoriya! My name is Nezu, and the current principle of UA. I believe you were told I was coming?" The small.. Bear? Mouse? said.
Izuku's shocked expression stated that he, as a matter of fact, had not.
"I was going to, but since you didn't arrive with recovery girl, I assumed you weren't coming." Aizawa stated, hoping that would cover up his forgetf-
"You forgot, and that's okay. I figured the best time to talk about this would be after all private matters were dealt with, anyway." Nezu cut his thoughts off, and chuckled at the defeated pro hero.
"You wanted to talk to me about something? Is it more bad news?" Izuku questioned, already preparing for the worst.
"Oh, not at all, young man. In fact, before any of that, I have a question for you. What is your goal?" The small creature asked, with his blank eyes focused on Izuku's green.
"..." Izuku was going to answer, then looked down. He was afraid they would tell him no. Hell, even All Might said no. But, to be fair, you asked if the quirkless you could be a hero. Maybe they'll will say differently. Only one way to find out.
"If I was still a quirkless kid, and asked you if I could become a hero, what would you tell me?"
Nezu simply looked on at the boy, his head still facing down at the bed. His expression hardened as he spoke.
"I would tell you it would be a hard path, with many dangers that, without a quirk, could kill you easily." The principle explained, gaining a slightly deflated boy.
"However, that applies for all heroes. Not all heroes have powers that let them beat the villain. Some have to outsmart them when their quirk isn't suited to take them down. Sometimes they have to do that without their quirk. So you could be a hero, if your determined to work harder than anyone else." He finished, and saw Izuku look back up at him.
"Really?!" Izuku was dumbstruck. He'd never thought of it that way. Heroes like Sir Nighteye didn't have to use their quirk on half the villains they take down.
Aizawa was slightly disturbed at the lack of knowledge the boy had on that aspect of heroes. He intervened;
"What led you to believe you couldn't be a hero if you didn't have a quirk?"
Izuku sighed, and answered.
"My mom, classmates, teachers, my best friend." With each answer, the expressions of the heroes got angrier at who all had told this poor kid he couldn't be a hero without a quirk, and the boy's head fell lower with each answer.
"All Might." Izuku was facing the bed again, his hair falling over his eyes to hides the tears as the encounter with the number one hero came back through from his memory.
Aizawa was pissed, and hugged the boy. This surprised Izuku slightly, and Nezu would've been as well if he wasn't just as mad at the man who was just mentioned.
"All Might will be making a formal apology to you, that's for certain. On top of that, I'll have him do something to make it up to you. As for your school, I will be looking into that, and you will be transferred out and moved somewhere better. In fact.." The principal turned to Aizawa. "How about you give him home school lessons and train him, help him learn the extents of his newfound power, Aizawa?
The hero in question released the boy, and fell back into his chair, and promptly fell back onto the floor. The crash and conversation shook Izuku out of his shock, and looked back at the teacher.
"You don't have to do any of that for me, and what kind of training?" Izuku asked, slightly starting to freak out about what the answer might be.
"Training to be a hero, of course! What better training to receive than from a hero personally!"
Izuku gained a huge smile and fell back into the bed, already fantasizing about what all this could lead him to gain.
"Hang on, do I not get a say, Nezu?!" Aizawa asked from his spot on the ground, which gained a laugh from the mammal.
"Of course not! Besides, you were gonna offer him something along the lines of that anyway, weren't you?"
Izuku shot back up and looked at the man on the floor, seeing a slightly embarrassed look.
"W-well, I was going to ask where he would go, and offer a place, but..." Aizawa looked back up at the boy, seeing a huge smile across his face.
"Oh alright, whaddaya say, kid? Want to come live with me and learn to be a hero?"
Shota got tackled back onto the floor by the boy repeatedly saying yes, and smiled ever so slightly under his scarf as he wrapped an arm around the boy.
"I would also like to extend an offer to you, Aizawa. One that will greatly benefit both you and young Midoriya here." The principle smiled, and gained the attention of both humans.
"And what would that be, Nezu?"
"How about you and Izuku move onto UA campus? We'll have a house built just for you two, and all housing bills will be covered. We can move all of the Midoriya's belongings there as well, because you won't be able to return to your old home. Of course, young Midoriya, this offer will help you with getting lessons from not only myself, but as well as any other UA teachers along Aizawa." Nezu explained happily, which gained a dark look from Aizawa.
"That sounds too good to be true, Nezu. What's the catch?"
"You will become a teacher at the school for the heroics department."
"No."
"Erasure Head, please! I would get to meet so many cool current and new pro heroes, and get taught by the best hero teachers! And we'd get a free house, too! Please take the offer, for me?" Izuku's green puppy-dog eyes stared into Aizawa's cold, black ones, and begged.
All three were surprised that that broke him.
"Fine. But I want a higher salary and more freedom to do as I please with my classes."
"Deal. We pride on the freedom we give to our teachers, so that's no problem. I'll make some calls and get a house set up, and movers to collect all your belongings, Midoriya. Also, we'll be moving your mother to a better hospital, so all this could take maybe a week or so." With that, the new principle over both of the two humans hopped down from his stool, and walked over to the door with Aizawa.
"For the time being, stay with Aizawa, no matter where you go. Aizawa, escort him to his home for any essentials, and take him to your apartment. You'll stay there until all the procedures are handled, and the house is ready."
"Wait, Nezu-Sensei!" Izuku got up from his spot on the floor, and picked up the smaller rodent into a hug. This action not only surprised Aizawa, but was shocked him, because the last person to try that (cough cough Mic cough cough) had gotten claws to the face.
"Thank you, so so so much.. For everything."
Nezu was taken aback, but welcomed the hug, none-the-less. Plus, he enjoyed the look Aizawa had about the hug, so maybe he'd have Izuku do this in front of some others, just to make them have a similar look. Izuku gave him one last squeeze and set him back down.
Nezu straightened his small suit, and looked back up at the young boy.
"What your next course of action, before you are deemed ready by Aizawa to get fighting training, is find a way to hug me with two arms." Nezu nodded to the missing limb from the boy.
"The police told me that when they cleared my home, that the arm was never found. So I won't be able to reattach it, and I can't grow it back. I've tried." Izuku said sadly, and brought his right hand to hold his stump. God, it feels weird to not have a second arm.
"I think I know a way to solve that. But for now, lets get you changed and checked out of here." Aizawa intervened, and knelt down to give his new boss a firm handshake.
"I'll be looking forward to that day, and I hope you come prepared. I won't go easy on lessons, and I will make sure all your teachers get you prepared from when you come to UA as an official student.
"You t-think.. That I c-could... Make it t-to UA?" Izuku was shocked again, and knelt down to give a handshake to his new teacher.
"I have a good feeling about you, Midoriya. And I rarely have that. Aizawa was one of them, when I moved him up to heroics after the Sports Festival." Nezu said as he shook his hand, and made his exit. His chuckle could be heard from down the hall as Izuku thought about the bombshell he just dropped, which made Aizawa have to shake his shoulder to get him moving again.
After about 30 minutes or so, they had gotten Izuku changed, said there goodbyes and wished luck to Inko, and set off in a UA owned car to Izuku's apartment. They gathered most of the necessities in his room, and, To Aizawa's wish, only brought a few things from his All Might shrine. Even after he told him that, Izuku still looks up to him, huh? It didn't take long, and after about another 30 minutes, they had arrived at Aizawa's home. When they got out, Aizawa knelt into the driver window to tell him something that Izuku couldn't hear. When they entered the apartment, the car stayed. After having set up the guest room as Izuku's temporary new room, they left back outside to see the car was still there. By this point, the sun was about to set, and they took off back to around where Izuku's old home was.
"Where are we going to go, Erasure Head?" Izuku asked, curious about their current adventure."
"Call me Shota kid, Erasure Head makes me sound like I'm working. Anyway, we're gonna meet someone who can help your current situation."
Shota turned back and faced ahead. He was in the passenger seat, giving directions to the driver, while Izuku stared out the back. At one point, they turned onto a road that they could see the water, and Izuku recognized as Dagobah Municipal Beach. It only lasted a little bit, because soon heaps of trash blocked their view. They turned down a road that led to an old factory with house across the street, with a large smokestack billowing smoke. The car pulled up to the house, and Izuku was told to stay in the car as Aizawa got out, and approached the house. There were sparks and light flickering from inside the factory building. Izuku turned his attention back towards the house, and saw Aizawa talking with a tired looking man, who seemed to be in his late 30's. They both came back to the car, and Izuku was gestured to come out.
"Shota, where are we?" Izuku asked,. stretching from being in the car for a while.
"Izuku, this is Hatsume Kikai. He's gonna help us get someone to solve you're current problem."
"Nice ta meetcha, kid! Heard from Aizawa here thatcha lost an arm to a villain, huh? Sorry ta hear. But the fact you want a new one ta help ya be a hero, well that gained ya respect in ma book!" Kikai reached out and firmly grasped Izuku's remaining arm, and shook it madly. All the while, the man beamed with pride.
"N-nice t-to me-et y-ou to-o s-ir" Izuku stuttered with every shake from the man, which only resulted in a hearty laugh.
"Yaknow, Aizawa, I'd thought for sure you were hear about ma daughter agin. Scared me half ta death, but this is a challenge I think we'll both be able to accomplish."
Aizawa grunted at that remark, which made Izuku gain a curious face.
"Why would it be bad, Mr. Hatsume?"
"Just Kikai, kid. And that's because every so often ma daughter blows somethin up in the workshop, and some passerby call it in as a villain, so Aizawa gets the call, 'n he comes ta tell 'er to calm it down. 'Course, I invite him for a drink after, cuz he needs it." Kikai explained as they walked over to said workshop, and were met with a large, futuristic bike held up by a crane, with someone underneath.
Kikai walked over and knelt down next to the person under the bike. He explained something to them, then told them to come out. When the mystery person did, Izuku froze on the spot. It was a girl his age, by the looks of it, and had pink braids with soot covering her face. She wore a loose black tank-top with burn marks covering it was, and a brown coat wrapped around her waist. Her goggles were pulled down and laid around her neck, and her yellow eyes with plus sign pupils stood out among the grime and oil. She wore brown overalls that went down to her black boots, each sporting their own grease and burn marks, and she stood staring at Izuku.
"Izuku, this is ma daughter, Mei. She gon be ma partner ta help this ya with this little project. Mei, this is Izuku. He got in a villain accident, and he needs our help."
Izuku bowed slightly at the girl, and instead of her doing the same, she walked up to him and began inspecting his face, body, and arm.
"Um, wh-what exac-tly i-is this pr-roject, Kikai?"
"You haven't figured it out yet, kid?" Aizawa said, with a smirk as he watched Izuku become a blushing, stuttering mess.
"Wh-hat do you mean?"
The girl finished her inspection before returning next to her father, grabbed a wrench, and pointed it at the boy.
"Me and my dad are gonna make you the best baby ever!"
'Baby!?' Izuku thought
"She means the project. She calls her inventions babies, and I can't get her to stop. Anyway, the project, well since you haven't gotten it yet..." Kikai explained, and turned around to the workbench. He grabbed a larger wrench from the table and also pointed it at the boy.
"..We're gonna make you a new arm, kid!"
