Chapter 7
"This is the one, I can feel it!" A giddy blonde pulled out her thumb in the street, signalling for them to give both tired women a ride.
Her face plummeted, as the car drove past.
"Aw, come on!" She cried out.
"You're doing a splendid job." Regina smirked.
"You're gonna have to hide in the bushes next time. It's clearly you slowing us down." Sluggishly walking over the the brunette.
"Oh it's me? How so?" The brunette chuckled, causing the blonde to sigh.
"I literally never get passed, when this dudes out-" she raised her thumb again.
"I have no doubts that you do well on the side of a road. However, I still think we should take the short route of two miles through the woods." No sarcasm detected in Regina's tone this time.
"You're kidding right? Two miles through the woods?" The blonde laughed, stopping in her tracks.
"Do you honestly think I believe that you enjoy walking extra miles due to your spontaneous nature?" Regina looked back as Emma looked directly at her.
"Ugh." Emma groaned, now heading towards the woods.
"Finally." A relieved brunette gasped. She had been trying to convince the blonde to take this route for an hour.
"I think we should rest." Regina stated, crouching in front of the fire they had both lit.
Emma sat a few steps away on a tree log. As Regina got up, she took her blazer out of the blondes rucksack, lied it on the ground.
As she laid down next the the fire, she heard shuffling from the back. The next she felt a body up against her back, and an arm wrapping around her waist.
"What do you think you're doing? Spread out. You have the whole forest to pick from." Regina groaned, turning away from the blonde.
Emma was pushed off of the body she attempted to gather heat from. Feeling slightly offended.
"It's cold. Plus, this is what they do on the survival channels." Laying back down, but hugging the brunette tighter than ever. There was no way she was going to get out of the blondes grip. Regina just sighed, dozing off into the abyss.
"Uh- god." Regina groaned, waking up to the bright light. Her head sore, she clutched it in pain.
"It's okay, shhh." Emma reassured, holding the brunettes arm.
"Where are we? Why on earth am I feeling as if I was hit with a brick-" Looking around, they seemed to be in a train station. Which was in the middle of nowhere. How the hell did she get here?
"You don't remember? Oh shoot." Emma looked concerned, taking a tissue from her pocket and dabbing it at the woman's head.
"Would you care to tell me?"
"Well, you thought there was a spider crawling up your leg. You got up, and ran into a tree branch, knocking yourself out cold."
"Uh-" she groaned again, now feeling a lot worse.
"Trust me, I would have shared it online, but I don't have my phone on me-"
"Shut up." The brunette snapped, sitting back down.
"By the way, we can't get a train until two more days. They aren't available." Emma added, now standing up, stretching her arms.
"What?!" Regina started to feel lightheaded.
Sitting on the bench at an abandoned station, Regina turned to Emma out of question.
"How did we get here?"
"I carried you.." Emma mumbled under her breath, fiddling with her bag strap.
"You what?"
"It's no big deal, really." The blonde giggled, almost shyly.
Regina felt a small something that felt uncomfortable under her clothes. She began to feel around her chest if there was a leaf that had falling into her shirt. Emma's eyes darted directly to her.
"Uh, Gina? What are you doing?"
"I found it!" Regina yelped, as she found several hundred dollar notes in her bra. Remembering that she had kept them for safe keeping.
"What are we still doing here if you got money in your boobs?!" Emma stood up pointing towards the clerk and the counter.
"Excuse me-" she approached man behind the glass box.
"I have 400 dollars, I need to be in the state by Tuesday."
"Well ma'am, you can get a cheap car over the street at Andrews." His voice rusty, but sincere. She took his word and pointed at Emma to follow her.
Meanwhile, at 'The Cheapest Car Sale' around, Emma and Regina stood speaking to the man about the gas, mileage, speed. It really did seem like a dodgy area, due to the twisted cars that were scattered recklessly around the lot.
"That'll be two hundred dollars, ma'am." A distant voice from behind the vehicle called out. He was wearing overalls and had the worst hairstyle imaginable. Dead hair crocked up into a man bun. Both women were secretly terrified.
"Here's the money." Regina said boldly, handing over the small wad of cash.
Emma opened her side of the passenger door, peaking her head back out to Regina.
"Ooh, it's got satellite." She grinned, meaning that she would obviously be in charge of the radio. At least that's what Regina would let her think for the trip.
They both had gotten into the car, signed paperwork, and began to ride off into the sunset.
"That's what I always thought, if I'm gonna be honest here. But I just had to do it. So I decided to wallpaper the garage and I found-" Emma had been talking at Regina about her life for two hours. She didn't realise this woman could talk that much. She turned the sound nozzle up higher, attempting to tune out any more of this useless conversation.
"Would you not prefer to listen to this?" The brunette looked at Emma.
"It's a good song, thanks Gina." Emma smiled back. Causing Regina to sigh in relief.
"Anyway, there were little flowers on the paper and- Ow!" The blonde clutched her head in pain. As Regina swerved slightly, the cars wheels screeched as it happened, forcing the woman to hit her head on the door.
"Are you alright?" Regina failed to seem sympathetic.
"Yeah, I'm good." She winced.
"But like I was gonna say, the cute flowers would be adorable if- Ow! Godammit!" Emma hissed as she clutched her head once more.
"I'm terribly sorry, there seems to be a few badgers on the road." Regina lied.
"Ohh." The blonde looked to the front, and thankfully didn't speak for a few more hours. Which equalled bliss in the brunettes mind.
Time flew by during their little 'Roadtrip' of sorts, as the sky began to darken rapidly. Nearing the time of 8pm. The city was in sight, as the brunette stopped to grab some gas for their vehicle.
Stretching her legs as she got out of the car, and headed towards the gas nozzle. Emma followed her lead, and got out too.
"This isn't a bad ride." She patted the top of the bonnet.
"Well. Unfortunately, this is the last stock of money. This isn't enough to get us where we need to go." Regina looked frustrated, but her face softened as her gaze was met with Emma's.
"You know... I could always help us out." She shrugged, moving closer to Regina.
"How? Do you happen to carry around bra money?" The brunette asked, with an eyebrow raised.
"Nope. But, I've got my credit card burner. Let me make a card and we can get this tank filled in fifteen minutes tops-"
"Em-ma. This trip will not turn me into you."
Emma's eyebrows furrowed in disappointment, she didn't realise she was that bad.
"Listen, Gina. I'm not saying that we have to go out and steal from orphans or puppies." She spoke back.
"No one deserves to get stolen from, dear." Regina turned her body towards Emma.
"How in the hell, do you not have a shit list?" Emma squeaked, looking stunned.
Regina contemplated the woman's words. Was there no one who had wronged her in the past? She didn't have to think hard until the name 'Gold' came to mind. She had a son, and a big house to take care of, due to it being sold down to her from her mother. Gold payed her less than she deserved, and not to mention, was cruel.
"Emma. I think I have someone." The blonde looked up at Regina. The shit eating grin that was plastered on her face only meant one thing.
They quickly got into the car, just to make sure that no one around would hear their conversation about stealing another identity..
"My boss, formally known as Robert Gold. He happens to be a partner at this major financial institution." Regina explains to the blonde.
"Soo, what's the plan? I don't think we look like a stuck up old man with a grudge." Emma questioned the brunette.
"I'll be his wife, and you can portray the... assistant." She hesitated, not wanting to offend the blonde.
"Cool. Let's do this. Walk me through the plan." She grinned, rubbing her hands together.
"We need to make our way into the record room. I know the pin, but we need to advance and find our way in without getting caught in the act."
"How? Especially with you looking like that-"
Regina glared at Emma, extremely offended.
"No offence, but we look awful."
They really did. Regina's silk shirt was crumpled. Highly noticeable on her end. Her tailored trousers were muddy. Emma's tank top was anything but white. Dirt, stains. Anything you can imagine was plastered on her shirt. They needed a change of outfits for this to work smoothly.
"That's fine. You'll be the distraction." Regina smirked.
"Oh, God!" Emma yelped, as she skidded across the buildings floor. Grabbing the attention of the receptionist at the desk. The man made his way over to the injured blonde.
"Madam? Are you okay?" He gasped, crouching down to her level.
"My leg, I think it's cramped up again." She hissed, clutching her 'injured' leg.
"What can I do to help?" He was shaken by the woman's pain.
"Try to rub it!" She yelped.
"Rub it?"
"Yes!"
"Oh okay, yes." He agreed, soothing the injured spot in the blondes leg.
In the meantime, Regina had been behind a wall, and quickly entered the gym area of the building, after someone else. She had made it in.
Heading over to the woman's area, she opened a locker, with a key she had found earlier. Her eyes caught sight of the beautiful pantsuit. Almost as if it had her name written on it.
She had gotten dressed, and looked like a very attractive businesswoman. Grabbing a blue T-shirt for the blonde in case, and shoved it in her blazer attire pocket.
"Okay that's enough, get off of me" Emma got up immediately, leaving the poor man on the floor stunned.
She made her way out of the building, and waited for Regina out the back.
"Jesus." Emma gasped, when she caught sight of the brunette making her way towards her.
She wore a white shirt underneath her blazer. The shirt was buttoned down, showing off her cleavage. The tailored pants were fitted along with a belt around her waist. The blonde almost floored her right there.
"I prefer the name, Regina." She smirked, approaching Emma.
"Here. I suggest you dust yourself off." She handed the blonde the blue shirt, and a tissue.
"Okay, but where did you find makeup?" Emma looked towards her.
"I always carry around my essentials. However I seem to have forgotten them in the gym room.." Displaying a pout to the blonde.
"It's fine, you are smoking." Regina's eyes widened at the blondes comment. Emma giggled and quickly took off her tank top and replaced it with her shirt right in front of Regina.
"You okay?" She asked, as if she didn't show her entire top half to the brunette.
"Y-yes. I'm fine. Let's go." She walked ahead, not wanting to continue the conversation further.
