A/N: Thank you all for you reviews! I don't have a 100% clear plan for this story, but I have a tentative plan. With that in mind, any suggestions or things you want to see I am open to. When I start writing a chapter, it kind of just flows out and I take the story where I feel it should go. I do have a few chapters done. I released a lot at once to lay a strong foundation and hopefully get some followers. Updates will come slower. This will be a multichapter fic. I am 29 weeks pregnant so I can't release all my saved chapters at once. If I do, I will go MIA for a while when I have this baby. I don't want to leave you all hanging 😊.
All characters belong to Shonda and Greys Anatomy.
Chapter 7
Callie's POV
Callie watched Arizona walk into the grand room. When Arizona winked at her, she felt like a million butterflies were released right in her stomach. At that moment, Callie knew she was in trouble. She needed to get to know Arizona Robbins. The conversation was so easy, and she honestly hadn't felt these butterflies in a long time. Not since her last relationship, almost 2 years prior.
Callie was cautious about who she "dated". She had a 6-year-old daughter and Sofia would always be her main priority. Not to mention Arizona was a professional golfer. She traveled all the time. Woah, she thought to herself. You just met her, why are you thinking about relationships and travel? Typical Callie, putting the cart before the horse.
Callie shook herself out of her daydream and headed towards the grand room. This dinner was the most difficult part of planning this tournament. Unlike most PGA dinners, golfers were encouraged to bring their team and spouses/dates. This tripled the amount of people attending. The final count was over 500. The kitchen at The Calliope was strong. She had every bit of confidence in their ability. But no matter where you are feeding 500 people a gourmet meal was a tall task.
Her thoughts were trying to drift to the beautiful blonde golfer, but she knew it was time to buckle down and get this dinner done.
Arizona's POV
Woah. This place is packed. Arizona saw some familiar faces, but she didn't think she knew even a quarter of the people here. Never had Arizona been so grateful that Tim and Teddy were able to join this dinner. Speaking of which, where have those two wandered off to?
Arizona looked around and she still couldn't find them. 'What the hell guys?' she thought to herself. Arizona was walking through the hall when she was stopped by a group of gentlemen.
"Hey! Arizona Robbins. Please, come over here and join us." The man who called her over was one she recognized. It was Alex Karev. He was the #3 golfer in the world right now. Arizona had heard rumors about all the big-time golfers, but Alex Karev was someone she only ever heard great things about.
Seated at the table with Alex were three more golfers she recognized. Derek Shepard – currently #5 in the world, Owen Hunt – currently #15, and Richard Webber – currently #25. All four of these men were very well respected in the PGA. Sitting down and talking to them was not something she could turn down. Even if she needed to find where the hell her brother and manager wandered off to.
"Hello. Alex, Derek, Owen, Richard. How are you gentlemen doing today?" She asked with a smile.
"Better now! Robbins, we are really excited to have you out with us this tournament. Richard has been talking about you nonstop since The Women's Open a few months ago." Hunt chimed in.
"Hey, I know talent when I see talent." Richard threw a wink Arizona's way.
"Wow. I am honored you guys even know who I am. I am really happy to be here. A little nervous, I can't lie. But really excited to have gotten the chance. I have one hell of a manager."
"Do you want to sit with us? The rest of the guys in this room are pretty much jerks. We are truly excited to have you here." Derek motioned to the open chair at their table.
Arizona took the offered seat and immediately felt welcome. She spent the next half hour chatting with the 4 golfers. She even secured an invite to have a practice round with the 4 of them tomorrow morning. If you would have told her walking into this dinner, that was going to happen she would have looked at you like you were crazy. Just then a beautiful voice came over the PA system.
"Excuse me everyone! I just wanted to thank you all for making it out here for the dinner tonight. We are so excited to be hosting all of you. We hope you enjoy this dinner and please, if you need anything do not hesitate to flag us over. Now, If you could all return to your designated seats, dinner is going to be served now." Callie announced.
Arizona's eyes locked with Callie's and Callie returned the flirty wink from earlier.
"Well Robbins, looking forward to seeing you in the morning. We were thinking about 7 if that works for you." Alex forced her to break her eye contact with Callie.
"Oh, uh yeah. 7 is awesome. See you guys in the morning!" Arizona quickly excused herself.
Arizona walked up to her assigned table and noticed Teddy and Tim sitting there deep in conversation.
"Where the hell were you guys? I was looking everywhere for you."
"Oh. Hey AZ! We were um, just mingling." Tim responded. He wouldn't meet her eyes.
"Yeah! Met some awesome people." Teddy quickly added.
Awesome? Teddy didn't say awesome. That is when she noticed it. Arizona reached her hand across Teddy and wiped the lipstick off of Tim's neck. The lipstick that happened to match the shade Teddy was wearing.
"So, we are going to talk about this later. But, Tim you should go clean your neck off in the bathroom. Oh, and Teddy you could use a lipstick touch up."
Both Teddy and Tim just looked at each other and then over at Arizona looking like two deer caught in headlights. They both quietly stood up and headed towards the restroom.
Arizona was going to give Teddy hell for this. She understood that she was the one under the microscope here. But if Teddy and Tim were going to be having fun the next few weeks…She sure as hell would be making the most of her time here as well.
Except there was one problem. She was in a room full of beautiful women, most of them not tied down to the golfer that they were here with. But her eyes were scanning the room in search of one person. This didn't happen. Arizona Robbins was not one to get hung up on a woman. But when her eyes found Calliope, laughing with one of the waiters she knew she was in trouble. She knew if anything happened with Callie, it wouldn't be a fling. That is something that scared the crap out of her.
The Next Day
Callie's POV
The dinner last night went perfectly. Callie had already been approached by a ton of golfers complimenting the meal, accommodations, and staff. The golfers were set to start getting in practice rounds out on the course. Callie had hired one of her childhood friends to manage the landscaping for the next two weeks. So far Callie had been very impressed. She had never seen the grass so green and the decorative landscaping was perfect.
After dinner last night Callie decided she was going to just sleep upstairs in the suite her father had reserved so she could see Sofia when she woke up. Her wakeup call from her favorite girl was just what she needed. She didn't realize how stressed she was until she settled in for breakfast with her sister and the girls.
"Mami, how was the ball last night?" Sofia refused to accept that Callie had been dressed like that, and not gone off to a ball.
"It was really good. I met some very pretty people." Callie replied thinking about the blonde hair blue eyed Arizona Robbins.
"Daddy can't stop talking about how perfect everything was, Cal. You impressed him and you know how much it takes to do that." Aria was proud of her sister. She never really wanted to be part of the family business, so she was more than happy to hype Callie up.
"Yeah. Mark had a lot to do with it too. I need to tell Daddy to give him a raise. I know there are other hotels that are ready to swoop in and try to steal him." Callie would never allow that to happen.
Allegra, Aurora, and Sofia finished their breakfast and headed off to play. Aria planned on taking the girl's swimming and then they were going to head off to the zoo. She was happy to help with the kids while everything else was going on. But The Calliope was quickly becoming a bit too crowded for 3 kids under the age of 9 to be able to deal with. She had already lost track of them once and she knew if they didn't get some open space soon, it would happen again.
"So, Cal, I was thinking next week I just take Sof back to my place. I love having her and once The Race actually starts, having fans here paired with all the people here already. It is going to be too much. I don't think we can ask the girls to deal with that."
"Yeah, I was actually thinking about that last night when I walked into the dinner. There were over 500 people there. I can't ask you to take Sofia for a whole week though Aria. Honestly, you are already doing too much for me. Let me just call one of her babysitters."
"No way, Cal. We can just have beach days all next week. I am taking her. Plus, Mark mentioned some blondie that you have your eye on…. Sofia being away for a week could give you a chance to…. destress. If you know what I mean." Aria said wiggling her eyebrows.
Callie just blushed. Mark had the biggest mouth. Now that Mark and Aria were aware of Arizona, she would never hear the end of it.
"I will tell you what I told Mark. Arizona is here to golf. Not only golf but make history. Pair that with the fact she just signed on to be sponsored by The Torres Company. No. not happening."
"Whatever you say Cal. We both know you are stressed, and horny. Just make sure you clean up after yourselves. You know, we do plan on having the kids up here after The Race is over. Wouldn't want to scar them for life with evidence of your extra curriculars." Aria chuckled.
"GOODBYE ARIA. I need to get downstairs. I am meeting Penny to go over the grounds plan and I have to meet up with Mark. Make sure you keep the Arizona stuff to yourself. Little ears are everywhere." Callie got up and went to say goodbye to Sofia.
As she was in the elevator heading downstairs, she couldn't help but think about what Aria said. She was right. It had been longer than she liked to admit since Callie had slept with anyone. Not to mention the fact that Callie loved sex. That paired with the chemistry between her and Arizona that was there last night. She would have to make sure that dancing date happened.
There will be 2 more chapters after this and then we will time jump to the week of The Race! Lots more Callie and Arizona together.
