Previously on We started over:
"Rose just take the damn card and stop being so prideful"
"Because ... because I don't want you to dig into your college fund Bella, you're already giving up enough as it is"
"Do you always feel like that around me?"
"So we're either have a severely depressed vampire like Edward or we have a severely depressed vampire out for blood?"
Bella avoided answering Alice not because she was hiding something (because she really wasn't) but because she knew the pixie vampire would ask more questions, especially when it came to how Bella knew the motley crew in the first place.
Her family had been acquainted with the Hale pack and their offspring throughout the years , but sadly most of the Hales died off and the ones who remained were killed in a fire by Kate Argent, another person Bella rather not talk about—she personally didn't know the woman but from what's she heard from both Derek and Scott she didn't have a very pleasant impression about the hunter.
Peter Hale is a pain in the ass, she met the wolf once, his need to be alpha reminded her a lot about Sam and it disgusted her she refused to even acknowledge the wolf as part of the Hale pack that consisted of various creatures.
Malia was nothing like her wayward father probably inheriting most of her qualities from her coyote mother.
Scott was a nice guy, always did the right thing but naivety might get the best of him.
Lydia and Stiles were her favorite , the banshee was funny, sarcastic and proved every stereotype about gingers very true.
Stiles was a goof, one of the hunters that she actually really liked despite his job description —but instead of actively hunting supernatural creatures he only hunted ones who completely disregarded the unwritten rules about all supernatural life which loosely translated in 'stay in the fucking shadows' . And they protected their own territory very well, but when they encountered ghost riders was a complete doozy 'god that was a terrible weekend' she thought with a soft groan.
Her groan got the attention of a very animated Carlisle who seemed to be explaining how rare it is to have a sudden bout Heterochromia.
"Do you understand how rare this condition is Bella ? Only occurring in less than 1% of the worlds population ? And for you to suddenly have it out of nowhere makes it ever more rare."
"I see, well do you think you could find any scientific explanation for this?"
Carlisle motioned Bella to follow him into his home study , once they were inside he was about to shut the door when Rosalie stopped him.
"I'd like to know if there's anything wrong with Bella" She said as a way of explaining her obvious presence.Carlisle who looked unsure turned to Bella for guidance.
"It's fine Carlisle I'll be telling her anyway" she said with a nod.
Carlisle nodded he opened his briefcase taking out a few objects one something that looked like a pair of safety goggles but a much more sleek design, it had magnifying glass attached to the lenses.
Carlisle slipped into full doctor mode asking various questions like if her eyes are more sensitive to light since the change, whether she's had any unexplained headaches to which she answered to no well except the last one.
"I had a headache this morning but I think that could be because of the bottle of jack daniels I polished off last night" she answered ignoring Rosalie's look instead focusing on Carlisle's pensive look.
"Well it could be either one , have you had a headache since your hangover subsided?"
"No , no I haven't" she answered. She sat with her fingers playing in her lap, she wasn't nervous but she hoped it was just something about her magic and not that she was suddenly going blind or something.
"Okay , yesterday" he paused glancing at Rosalie who stood in the corner of the room with her arms folded across her chest.
"Yesterday during your encounter with James, did you have any injuries near your right eye?" Bella pursed her lips when she thought back to the various injuries she healed while she fought James. Most of her injuries were self inflicted because of the way she was punching him, the few jabs he managed to get in was to her midsection , then a cut on her cheek. She didn't recall any other injury.
"No , while James was a strong vampire I barely had an issue with him after I managed to get Jacob away from the fray, I could fight freely without worrying about James using Jacob in a ploy against me to lower my guard.
The injuries I had were mostly around my hands , my knuckles in particular , I did have a cut on my cheek but before I killed James with my flames, I healed it so no I didn't have any eye injuries." She explained. The doctor listened while writing on his pad.
"Okay , the reason I asked is because while this could be a genetic condition, it could also be caused by injuries to the eyes , which leads to swelling or inflammation or even as bad a glaucoma.
Now from what I can deduce is that you have complete Heterochromia which basically means that each eye has a distinct color your left being brown , bordering on green and your right eye being azure blue." He explained in what Bella imagined was his doctor voice.
At the explanation she inhaled a deep breath , she needed to know what the effects could be what it could lead too.
"As far as I'm aware I don't think I had any relatives with the issue. Is there specific I should look out for Carlisle ?"
"Hmm well mostly the pigmentation isn't usually something that should be dangerous however there has been a few cases where it served as indicators to some genetic disorders: waardenburg syndrome in a child could cause premature hearing loss but since yours is a sudden onset the only thing that could possibly be a worry is neurofibromatosis—"
A sharp intake of breath sounded in the room cutting Carlisle off "which affects the nervous system, and causes Tumors on nerve tissues" answered Bella for Carlisle.
Carlisles eyes widened at the response "You've heard of it before?"
Bella nodded with a sigh , a sad smile on her lips "yeah my father's dad had it, he died obviously but I was pretty young when it happened so I barely remember him but I do remember my dad taking me for tests as soon as we knew it's genetic"
Carlisle took a seat in his office chair, Bella heard wood crack when she looked back at Rose, she saw the vampire digging her finger nails into the wooden panels lining the wall.
"Rose, you need to calm it's not like I have cancer and if I do I'm sure we can do something about it" she looked back to Carlisle "right Doc?"
Carlisle nodded his head "yes however, let's not put the cart before the horse, we can run tests to see whether it's been passed on or not"
"Okay, is there any way we can have the tests done today? I'd rather not tell my dad if there's nothing to worry about — and if I do tell him he'll be pacing a hole in your hospital floors something we could not do without."
Carlisle nodded his head, his voice was calm but he could see the pain in Rosalie's eyes whether the outcome was negative or positive it wouldn't stop a mate from worrying.
He knew the feeling while Esme might've not have been as strong as Bella when he met her the first time , he still worried for her safety constantly.
"Yes, I think that's best we can go anytime you're ready Bella , the test won't be anything invasive but we do need to get a tissue sample so that we can test it"
"Alright will you give me a second" she motioned to Rosalie. He nodded and left the office quickly.
After Carlisle left Bella sat quietly in her own seat waiting for Rosalie to say something, well anything at this point.
"Rose"
"Why can't things ever be easy with you Bella" she asked, venomous tears making her eyes glossy.
"I told you, easy isn't nearly as fun or adventurous" she answered with a smile in her voice.
"This is one adventure I'd rather not embark on Bella"
Bella nodded in agreement"To be honest neither do I but we have to know regardless, I was prepared for there either being a scientific explanation or settle for an unexplainable magical reason. And it could still be either or..." she trailed off.
Rosalie bit her lip , she stepped closer to Bella "and what will you do if it happens to be true? What will you do if the tests are positive?" She asked hesitantly
Bella smiled a reassuring smile, honestly it didn't change her plans one way or a other, she had been working on a spell to rewrite vampirism —change it from the current status-quo to something completely original. Ideally she wanted to be the same age as Rosalie —well the same physical age she was when she turned which was 19 but if the circumstances didn't allow that the so be it. She would deal with forever being 17 if it meant eternity with Rosalie no questions asked.
"Then I guess we get to start our eternity a little quicker "
Rosalie hesitated she wanted to be happy but under the circumstances how could she even be? If the tests was positive a human life was out of the question— she selfishly wanted her mate at her side, vampirism would save her life because cancer was a poison and the treatment only helped so much, she never wanted her mate to suffer , but this wouldn't be a choice —
"You deserve a choice-"
Bella cut Rosalie off "yes and my choice is you and it will always be you but like I said this might just be the beginning of what was mentioned in that text , that piece of the prophecy mentioned the gods would rain their blessing on us ... on me"
"And what? their blessing is possible cancer?!" She retorted sharply.
"No ... I've noticed something else, or just remembered it this afternoon Alice bumped into me and while I usually would've fallen flat on my ass because your bodies are like made out of granite or something , I barely felt it , instead I caught her because the force from my body pushed her down instead... I was kinda too lost in my thoughts back then—then the whole vision thing and then almost being caught having sex by my father ugh ...anyways what I'm trying to say is I didn't even have a bruise Rose whereas yesterday I had to layer my body with magic to soften the blows I would receive from a vampire." She said waving her hands around as she explained she couldn't believe she forgot about that. Also the wince she heard from Alice... the fucking vampire winced because she bumped into her and it was even that hard.
"Bella you're still not disproving my point, all it means is that maybe you've gotten stronger which I think I can agree on but that still doesn't tell me how being blessed by the gods. How is possibly having cancer seen as a blessing?"
Bella shrugged "I don't know... I don't know Rose but I have a gut feeling that, that my eyes changing might be the blessing " she tried.
"Let's just go to the hospital so that we can see whether my gut is right or not okay?"
She didn't receive a answer and Bella didn't expect one, but she felt Rosalie's hand slip into hers squeezing it letting Bella know that even though they might disagree about this now it didn't mean Rosalie would be letting Bella go through this by herself and that was more than enough.
Being in hospitals always made Bella uncomfortable , the strong smell of antiseptic , a little bitter with undertones of the artificial fragrance you'd find in soaps and cleaners. Even though the smell is a big enough reason for anyone to dislike hospitals in general , that wasn't the reason Bella felt uncomfortable.
The feeling originated with her mothers intense dislike of her daughter , or half a daughter as she often reminded Bella. The visits to various hospitals, doctors and specialists to see whether they could fix her little girl.
With each visit Bellas apprehension increased , with each visit came more invasive tests , more questions , questions that made her feel less of a person , less of a human , less Bella.. the only thing that Bella looked forward too was the summers she spent with her father, the summers she managed to glue the pieces together that Renee managed to fracture , to break.
So yes Bella was uncomfortable in hospitals and it showed in her face throughout the testing.
Carlisle was calming and doing everything right, it wasn't his fault really and she didn't blame him either but the more he talked, the more it reminded Bella of the endless questions the doctors would ask her .. after all there was only so many answers she could give being a young child.
Now she sat in the office of Dr.Cullen her mind wasn't there, her eyes closed, she focused on the strands on her magic running through her body, the strands that connected with each other creating an intricate web, if she could see the image on a scan she would but unfortunately it wasn't possible after all the only things it would show was her organs and that was something she would pass on—no need to see her insides. 'Who would even like that' she thought absently.
Her calming meditation was broken by the sound of a door opening, it was new barely giving off a creak or groan of disgruntlement, a soft thud filled the silent room.
Bella's eyes opened slowly as Carlisle took his seat opposite her, his face stuck in the lab results he's hands had been occupied with.
Bella noticed a subtle squeeze from Rosalie, the vampire had been quiet throughout the entire ordeal, she was there for support if needed, not smothering Bella with unwanted attention, unwanted questions, she held her hand making sure that Bella felt her presence at all times.
She allowed Bella to go through the motions and allowed her to calm herself with a her own method instead of suffocating her—and for that the enchantress couldn't be more grateful.
Bella turned back to face Carlisle, his expression unreadable , yet another thing to add on the list why she felt uncomfortable in hospitals , was because the doctors would deliver news with an apathetic expression. He neither showed delight nor remorse and to say that it grates on Bella's nerves would be sorely understated.
"So your results has come in and I've personally run them three times to be absolutely sure nothing was missed or overlooked" he started..
Bella nodded absently, her hand squeezed Rosalie's tighter.
"Just tell me Carlisle" she said tiredly "please"she added.
A/N cliff hanger
A/n No I'm kidding
"The tests has come back clear, I'm very happy to say that you have no signs of cancer malignant or otherwise"
A/N alright so let's get into it and I'll try to answer your questions you could possibly have as best as I can.
Well most of you are wondering why the hell would this author even say Bella could have cancer isn't she like an all powerful enchantress?
Answer: you're absolutely right! Bella is a powerful enchantress however as strong and as magical as Bella is, her basic genetic code has not changed, her DNA hasn't changed either, she is or could still be categorized as a human.
Or in superhero talk a meta human- even though she's not vulnerable as us mere meat sacks she is still vulnerable to genetic diseases. And I think I read somewhere the Bella's grandparents died of cancer in the real book or movie I'm not sure but I digress the point is Bella is genetically still human although she doesn't see herself as the masses which is fine because she's supernatural so right now she still has a foot in the supernatural and human world so to speak.
Next question : why isn't Rosie being vocal about her support ?
Answer : because If I'm completely honest I wouldn't want my partner to be yapping my ear off if I'm awaiting my cancer results. It's just me so I wrote it from my point of view or opinion besides that's kinda how I see Rosalie , she's blunt, sarcastic, but all in all a woman a few words but her actions say more than enough.
Next question : why would you try and make us think it's a cliff hanger hameeda ?
Answer: simple because I really like fucking around️
Anyways I'm out and thanks for the support and you're all free to have an opinion about the story which I will read and provide my own reasoning if I feel the need to ... but please don't be dissing the story if you didn't like it .. that's not my problem it's your own .. I don't know your preferences so I can't cater specifically to you. Whoever you are.
Besides I wouldn't go look for peanut butter if I didn't like it️
