I'm also sorry about not updating lately had writers block then work got in the way.
As Ashura walked to the hospital wing quickly where he knew his wife was after all she was the one who floo called him when the nurse immediately contacted him which reminded the Ravensong head to make a donation to the hospital wing and while he was at it the school brooms as well .
As he neared the doors that led to what his wife called the 'prison of doom'he started hearing chatter between his grandson and Lyra making him snicker since the closer he got to the curtains a buzzing sound echoed around the bed the two where sitting on .
His wife a slip of a women that stood at 5'4 which made her tiny compared to his 6'0 which he teased her about relentlessly when they were younger beautiful black hair fell into waves towards her mid back that made her creamy alabaster skin shine as she glance at his direction he could see relief and happiness in her hooded violet orbs a couple strands falling into her right eye making his shoulders slump in relief .
As he walked over a skip in his step since she wasn't just rune master she was also a ex med-witch and he trusted her judgement immensely especially when it came to Nathan .
They raised that small helpless five year old that survived that horrific demon attack into a young man who brought pride to there little family.
"So I was thinking if we use a containment rune to hold the ambient magic like a artificial lay line then have it cycle through a rune that can convert it into a different kind of energy like electricity we could have working technology of our own instead of having to order stuff from Japan "he heard the voice of his grandson say an excited grin on his face made him settle quietly into a chair beside his bed the creaking getting Nathaniel to stop chattering and glance in his direction his icy lavender eyes which he inherited from his mother which was combination of both his and Lyras genes.
"I see what you did here but how about we try a rune that cycles the magic instead of contain "the older witch said getting the boy to look where she was pointing a look of bewilderment on his face .
"Oh good catch that would of probably short circuit every thing that used electricity "he muttered before taking his note book and adding the new information and a side note to experiment with the first rune.
The whole time Lyra had a amused look on her face watching him before glancing at her husband with a look that screamed 'he gets it from you'.
"Nana how's that restaurant you opened up doing ?"he asked her wondering how her business was going since she set it up five months ago.
"Oh we're doing great I've been getting customers from all walks of life regular government and magical in fact just the other day a critic came in and I passed "she said a happy grin on her face making her grandson smile happy for her success.
"Yup next thing we know we'll be having one star "she said clearly excited before a frown appeared on her face .
"I still can't believe little Harry Potter blinded you with the patronus charm and didn't lose any points especially for taking out his wand in the quidditch field "she said pursing her lips showing her dissatisfaction.
"What do you expect he's in dumbledors pocket especially from what I heard from two years about there house cup with him awarding last minute points for them technically breaking the rules and putting themselves in danger"Ashura said a disgusted look on his face getting a roll of his eyes from Nathaniel who shook his head.
"Not that I don't agree but Potter should of had a better plan instead of running blindly into danger "he said getting looks of agreement from his grandparents .
"Yes I wonder if I should talk to him about his mother that might get him to change his perspective a little on his parents or at least get him to understand that it's okay to live your life and succeed too"Lyra said to herself but they both heard her making them glance at each other .
"Nana I know you taught his mother but don't you think he's going to wonder where you were when he was younger?"her grandson said his icy lavender eyes shining in concern since it's well known Potter has been developing a temper.
"Yes but I tried looking for him through tracking spells scrying spells and even going the illegal route hell I even used the mundane police force and they couldn't find anything it's like he didn't exist out of birth records "she said a dark look on her face getting her husband to wrap his arm around her slim waist getting a thankful smile from the women .
"No matter your choice we'll support your decision "Ashura said a smile on his face getting her to grin back at him.
"Yeah that's a good idea and all but when are you going to have the chance to speak with him especially with the headmaster keeping an eye on his every step and don't even get me started on Weasley he's as close minded as they come "he said a look of utter contempt on his face when speaking of Ronald Weasley .
"What about that young lady he's friends with will she be a problem?"lyra asked curiously wondering if she truly was like Lilly Evans after all to the lady of Ravensong her student will always be an Evans after all she accomplished she deserved respect for becoming such a formidable witch especially with no magical background.
As the conversation died to a comfortable silence Nathaniel could only wander about how his grandmother will get to know the two Gryffindors.
There was one thing the old women love doing and that was teaching no matter the subject in fact Lyra has been thinking of going for a college degree in the mundane world.
As they were discussing what they were going to do for winter break which made Ashura look thoughtful before his cobalt blue eyes brightened
"How about you invite Potter over for Christmas?"the crimson haired man asked his grandson making him Grimace in disgust before his grandmother grabbed his chin to have him face her .
"Nathaniel I know you don't like bigotry and bias but the way your acting right now is your judging him on what people have been teaching him since he entered this world he didn't have your kind of education "she said firmly yet gently.
The young man can only sigh before nodding in agreement although his frown was more prominent before he gained a smile on his face
"Alright I get it I can try but I'm not promising any results it's well known malfoy ruined any possible relations with most of the school except for maybe a few "he said making Lyra give him a look of encouragement.
"It's going to be hard but I do know if anyone can do it you can"she said a smile on his face .
As the day continued his grandparents had to leave to get back there business with his grandfather being high up in the ICW as the trainer of the guardians a group of individuals that are sent out into the world in order to establish a decorum of peace.
While his grandmother went back to working on creating new potions and supplying saint mangos with there potions and alternating with running her restaurant.
"Are you really going to try and befriend Potter ?"daphne asked Nathaniel after he filled them in on what his grandmother wanted him to do for the winter holidays.
"Yes daph this means I will have Potter over for break if he agrees"he said thankful he was out of the infirmary.
As the conversation persisted through lunch he couldn't help but want to put it off "Nathaniel how about you just write the guy a letter the worst he can do is tell your grandmother no"Tracy said a thoughtful look on her face.
"No I can't do that I'll just talk to him later on today and if I can't I'll talk to granger"he said mentally admitting he was being sort of hypocritical in his attitude towards the boy who lived but the thing that really pissed him off with the green eyed boy was his half assed attitude in his studies .
"Alright so what about granger ?"blaise asked furrowing his eyebrows wanting to know how they'll get the book worm to at least hear him out.
"Actually that's a lot easier than you'd think especially since I sent a letter last night asking her if she would join us for dinner right about now" he said s smile on his face.
"Oh a place that is obviously public where neither of us can be attacked "daphne said her icy blue eyes shining in appreciation of his political mindset shining through.
"Maybe"he said icy lavender eyes sparkling as he shot the muggleborn a smile from the Slytherin table only to be met with glares from Potter and Weasley.
"Can you believe the nerve of that guy Harry sending a letter to mione to eat at the Slytherin table"Ron said a pinched look on his face while Harry frown moving his food around his plate wondering how he'll be able to get on the hogsmeade trip.
"Harry Harry are you listening to me ?"the youngest Weasley said before they saw Hermione walk into the great hall carry the bag full of books .
As she neared the Gryffindor table she gained a strange look on her face before she turned towards the other end of the hall where the Slytherin table was .
'Why does Ravensong want me to eat with him' the bookworm thought turning around making sure to keep her chin up remembering her moment of weakness a while ago with the incident with them jumping to conclusions.
Thankfully she had time to calm down in order to think rationally and she came to the conclusion they messed up badly so she'll use this chance to apologize.
As she made her way to the house of snakes table she could see a lot of the house sneering at her which were fewer than she ever realized the older student had more stoic looks to them or small smiles on there faces.
"Granger over here!"a female voice said making her blink to see Davis waving towards a seat while her friends looked exasperated although the handsome Slytherin looked more amused.
"Yeah granger take a seat I invited you to talk about an offer"Nathaniel said before taking a bite of his food before swallowing making her glance at her friends at the gryffindor table to see Ron Weasley eating messily.
'There's at least one up side here 'she couldn't help but think since the youngest Weasley wasn't known for his table manners.
"Alright I'm here what did you want to talk to me about ?"the muggleborn asked getting right to the point making Nathaniel sigh in relief making her blink in confusion.
"Listen my grandmother has been hearing about your exploits in class and she wanted to know if you were willing to spend a couple days of winter break at the manor to practice magic?"he said seriously making her very confused and it showed on her face although the grinding sound malfoy was making made her want to take the offer outright just to get on his nerves.
"W-why would your grandmother want to teach me?"she couldn't help but ask making him gain a sheepish look on his face making her blink and see not the heir to a powerful family but a teenager just like her 'although he's definitely higher up in the looks department'a tiny part of her thought taking in the rolled up sleeves of his uniform showing muscular arms for there ages and the undeniable fact he was gorgeous.
"Because apparently these are the same rumors she heard about lily evans one of her most notorious students other than daphne's mom"he said picking up a butter knife to butter a roll .
Hermione granger was a lot of things but stupid wasn't one of them and she only knew of one lily Evan "you mean -"she said glancing over at Harry wondering if she should get up and drag him into this conversation which Nathaniel saw but didn't say anything if she wanted to drag potter into the conversation then less work for him.
"Yes Lilly Potter nee Evans a very successful witch who had a mastery in runes and potions"he said before taking a bite of his dinner roll before dabbing his face with a napkin.
"Hey granger if I were you I'd think seriously about this offer this could very well change your life in the the magical world"daphne said her icy blue eyes starring daggers into the bookworm making her squirm at the blonde beauty's gaze.
"You know daph you could cut diamonds with that look your giving her right?"the Italian wizard asked rhetorically watching the proceedings with amusement.
"So what Blaise it's not like she's willing to take the offer without an explanation of whats she going to learn with lady Lyra"she said a wry smile on her making Hermione mentally agree with her not that she'll give her the satisfaction .
As the group of Slytherins ate talking about different subjects before Tracy asked her question "so granger what do your parents do for a living "Blaise asked making her blink before swallowing the bite of mash potatoes that were in her mouth.
"There dentists its a muggle job where they clean teeth"she said knowing to simplify it for wizard in born kids only to see expectant looks on there faces but that's not what surprised her it was the understanding in there eyes .
"Okay what do they specialize in ? what are the medications they are qualified to use?"Tracy asked clearly interested while the others had interested look on there faces.
"Um well truthfully I'm not sure what you mean "she said feeling a little out her depth since she hasn't really been interested in her parents work lately but who could blame her she is going to a magic school.
"Alright we can figure this out with one simple question granger how much are your parents payed in a year "Nathaniel asked a benevolent smile on his face making the girl twitch and wonder if anything this boy did wasn't attractive .
"I guess we're middle class since we do well and they provide for my hogwarts tuition "she said keeping her head up since she knew her magical schooling was kind of tedious especially with the new electives this year.
The electives that needed new supplies so she could keep up on her school work .
"Huh so enough for you to get into one of the higher private schools in the UK interesting "he said making her blink before mentally converting pounds to a galleon only to flinch a little at the amount she came up with.
"Oh Merlin t-that's a lot of money"she said her voice faint not being able to wrap her mind around it .
"Hey you'll be fine that might seem like a lot but you gotta think of it this way it's for all 7 years your parents just have to worry about buying the supplies each year"the parslemouth said softly getting her to calm down from hyperventilating.
Everyone in there group was eyeing her in concern seeing the bookworm almost have a panic attack daphne looked especially concerned if she was fishing in her bag for something only to stop when Nathan calmly talked to her .
The rest of lunch was spent with idle conversation mostly talking about classes and professor lupin who was turning out to be a great DADA teacher.
Making the muggleborn remember the incident with Nathaniel's boggart as she was about to ask what that was about she thought better of it since they weren't initially close and it was clearly a sensitive topic for the Slytherin remembering the broken look on his face .
It was decided that she gets five days from now to figure out her decision on the offer so until Friday.
Harry Potter looked around the astronomy tower under his invisibility cloak which was quite the waning moon causing a light to shine in the room .
As the green eyed boy waited for the possible ambush from the Slytherin he couldn't help but frown and wonder why nobody ever told him of his grandparents hell his grandmother was a Slytherin what did that say about his grandfather?
Was he like black a gryffindor who went bad ?
Are all Slytherins like malfoy or were they just hiding it better than the pale boy?
Then even more questions popped up after Hermione his best female friend after Potions class gave him some interesting information about his mother who was apparently an apprentice of Lyra ravensong
He had so many questions and truth be told he was afraid of the awnser because the more he learned about himself and everyone around him the more the world changes.
The world as he knew was changing each year and he wasn't sure he'll ever be ready for it.
"Ah you actually showed up Potter ? That's good it means your willing to find some answers "the voice of the dark red haired boy said making the green eyed boy blink in astonishment not believing he was able to see him.
Come on Potter get outta there already where wasting valuable time we could be back in our dorms going to back to bed by now "he said annoyance on his face before a calculating enter his his eyes .
His wand shot out of his wrist before he said something pointed his wand around the room a yellow orange and white like glow over takeing the floor before it reached Harry the place where he was standing a white blimp in the sea of yellow and orange.
"Found ya Potter it's better if you just give up so we can get this over with"he said a yawn breaking his lecture making the dark haired boy to glare at him underneath his cloak getting a raised eyebrow .
"Nice try Potter but I still know where your at "he said in contempt a grimace on his face before he dashed over towards the green eyed boy and yanked off the cloak.
"Hey give that back !"he said angrily his eyes flashing green making Nathan glare in turn while surveying the rest of the room for an ambush.
"Can you be any more childish granger said you'd think about it I was hoping for after classes in the kitchens but instead you had to be dramatic "he said a glare on his face making Harry's face go white in rage.
"Give it back that belonged to my father!"he yelled making the dark red haired teen to snort before tossing it towards him.
"I doubt it even if it did it wouldn't be in such good condition "he said a shake of his head.
As Harry looked it over to make sure it was fine he was only half listening to his fellow half blood his mind catching up with what the pretty boy said.
"Wait what do you mean by that"he said a confused look on his face trying not to lose his cool.
"I mean an invisibility cloak only lasts for a decade and there hard to repair and well that one looks like it's brand new"he said pointing at the silver cloak
"So it couldn't be my dads cloak "he mumbled for the first time he held the cloak in his hands he didn't feel a connection with his father in fact he felt kind of broken since Dumbledore-
"But the headmaster wrote me a letter telling me that my father gave it to him for safe keeping saying it should stay in the family"the Potter scion said not being able to believe what the Slytherin was telling him.
Nathaniel blinked at this new information not believing how irresponsible that actually sounded "Harry do you know how idiotic that sounded especially when your father came from a ancient and noble house you probably have a whole vault full of family heirlooms grimiores and stuff like that but it does sound fishy that the headmaster who has no right carries a supposed family heirloom for a whole decade even if they were supposedly friends"he said trying to get the day older wizard to see his point of view and by the widening of his eyes he definitely caught his attention.
The Potter scion heard it all right then why would the headmaster have his cloak at all if he could return the magical item to a vault that was more secure than the headmaster's office he couldn't help but agree this was fishy.
No matter how much he wanted to tell the lavender eyed boy he was wrong and that Albus Dumbledore would never do that but he just couldn't those were really valid points
"We've lost track of time "the ravensong said a sigh leaving his lips making Harry to realize just how tired he really was before yawning .
"And we haven't even spoken bout the offer at all"he groaned making Harry blink since he forgot he came up here to tell him no he wasn't taking up his grandmothers offer but with the recent revelation on his cloak he couldn't help but want to try and build a connection with his mother .
"Did your grandmother really teach my mother in runes and potions ?"the green eyes wizard asked a tentative look on his face getting the younger wizard to sigh his features softening .
"Listen Potter I might think your wasting your potential but that doesn't mean you can't come over to learn about lily Evans"he said running a hand through his hair unintentionally slicking his bangs back but unlike Malfoy some strands where still a mess giving him a more natural look unlike malfoy's over gelled .
"Don't you mean lily Potter ?he asked since the Slytherin seemed to put emphasis on the last name .
"No Potter the only lily Potter my nana knew was when she was barely pregnant with you lily Evans on the other hand she knew very well"he said making him understand since it seemed like Lyra Ravensong saw a difference that Harry never heard about making him curious.
"I'll take the offer "he finally said after a moment of silent making Nathan sigh and shake his head in disbelief.
"I'm not saying to decide right now get some sleep think on it with a clear head because as you are now you can't afford to make rash decisions so just like granger tell me in five days from now by Saturday so you two have the same amount of time to decide "he said sternly since his grandma was one tough slave driver when it came to her lessons.
Making the boy who lived to nod seeing his point before the two headed out together neither wanting to show there back to each other yet since the trust was very thin but that took time which hopefully the two could get over winter break.
An:hey everyone this chapter took forever to write and edit Harry and Nathan had a one in one at the end there and you all saw Harry's faith in Dumbledore waver with Nathan's very logical reasoning .
It always bugged me that James gave Dumbledore a family heirloom even if he had so much respect for the man there's some things you just don't do .
It always bugged me that moody could see through Harry's invisibility cloak (in the goblet of fire) when it could hide a person from even death so my theory was that Dumbledore gave him a different one saying it was his father's .
Besides we all knew how desperate Dumbledore was to get his hands on the deathly hollows why would he just hand it over to a first year?
It makes no sense .
Nathan is giving Harry and Hermione time to think about the offer since he wants it to be there decision.
