Cream + Tails: Siblings Forever

The Egg-Droid was modeled after the form of the Omnidroid that is seen in the Disney-Pixar animated 2004 film The Incredibles.

The large superstructure known as the Egg Fort was hovering over the land, seemingly invincible and untouchable. However, something was happening to indicate that something was wrong. In various parts under the ship, many anthro animals were jumping ship as it were, the beings jumping out from the craft and being sure to keep a distance before releasing their parachutes. While this would look unusual on the outside, inside was another matter…
It was chaos within the aircraft that was designed by Dr. Ivo Robotnik, a.k.a. Eggman!
Alarms were blaring through the various areas of the ship, many various sized robots armed to the teeth with weapons coming forth to deal with an intruder that was a well-known adversary to the human doctor… and it was Shadow the Hedgehog!
Said black and red hedgehog was moving swiftly through the various cells, using his Chaos Spears to blast open the electrical locks of the holding cells. He ordered the anthro beings that were scheduled to be robotized to flee, said animals doing so, before using his speed and agility to evade blaster fire from the mechanical soldiers of Eggman.
Shadow was looking for his quarry, but amazingly it was not Eggman. He was second priority for the moment. His first priority was finding three certain young beings; Tails, Cream and Cheese.
Said three characters were in the ventilation ducts, crawling through the small space in hopes of finding what they were looking for. Tails commented in a hopeful tone as they came to another intersection, "The way to the Weapon Room has to be around here somewhere…".
Cream asked softly, "Tails, how did you and Sonic do this in the past? You two often make navigating through any of the bad doctor's places look so easy.". She clutched Cheese tighter when the trio had to stop, being quiet as some robot guards ran under them. They did not wish to make a sound that would arouse their suspicions.
Once they were gone, he motioned for her to follow him, which she did. Tails answered as they continued on, "Usually, I would be in the Tornado that had the equipment I needed to hack into Eggman's computer. From there, I would get a schematic of the whole place and relay it to Sonic via earpiece. But… we don't have that luxury. From what I can tell here, this particular model of the Egg Fort is all brand new.".
He was not wrong there. After Sonic had trashed his creation one-too many times, Eggman actually use foresight to reconstruct & rebuild the aircraft completely. While it looked the same from the outside… inside was a whole new different story.
Plus, Tails did not have his usual equipment like he would have when dealing with Eggman. And even if he did manage to find something, he believed rightly that any kind of hacking caught from within would be noticed, and the whole ship would be on the lookout for him. Add in Cream, Cheese and Vanilla into the mix… and Tails had a real serious problem.
But fortunately, thanks to the pep-talk of Cream, he was more resolute than ever before to do something that normally he would let Sonic do. He would be the hero this time around. It would be he to stop the weapon of Dr. Eggman, save his friends and do so without his usual tools at his disposal.
The young ones soon reached the end of the shaft, looking through a vent grille to see a strange metal object of sort. Tails motioned for Cheese to help him take off the grate, but quietly and carefully. The blue Chao nodded, being told to hold the grate while the two-tailed fox worked on unscrewing said object. Once the screws were undone, falling down and hopefully no one noticing, the two boys popped the grate open but Tails kept a grip on through the cracks so that it would not fall down.
Once he brought the grate into the vent, he poked his head out and looked around. The furry mechanical genius slowly rotated his head, wanting to make sure that there was no one around & also no surprises. Once he saw that everything was clear, Tails than fell down to the ground, landing with grace and style. He motioned for Cream to follow, which she did as she floated down gently thanks to her long ears, Cheese in her arms.
Tails and his companions saw now the machine in its actuality. It was long, but slightly shorter in length than the X-Tornado. It was pained in metallic gray, with red segmented red glass on the side that was most likely an energy indicator of sort, and at the end was a golden parabolic point. Above the red glass was another blank face, which could as any guess on what its function was.
If someone from Earth had seen it, they would have called it a serious-looking version of the Paralyzer Ray Gun from the old SNES video game Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster Busts Loose.
The mechanical engineering expert slowly examined the machine that was bolted to the floor, taking in everything while Cream and Cheese kept a lookout. But it was difficult to do since most of the place was covered in darkness, and the only source of light was the spotlight that was situated directly over the machine and them.
After some minutes of examining the Deluxe Egg Robo-Cannon, Tails came to a conclusion. He had a look of awe on his face, but it was mixed a sense of knowing that came from the field he studied in. He whispered in an amazed tone, "Now I see… no wonder it's like this. It would have been disastrous if he actually tried to hook it up to the drill of this craft.".
Cream looked to her adopted brother and asked, "Tails, what is this thing? Is this the one we have been looking for?".
He turned to her and answered, "Oh yeah, this is really the real deal! The Deluxe Egg Robo-Cannon… Eggman really did it! And from what I can see, he actually played it safe for once!". Both Cream and Cheese had cute perplexed looks on their faces, wondering on what he was talking about. The two-tailed fox was now in semi-lecture mode, which he would often do when checking out a machine that really got his attention.
Tails put forth, "From what I learned from seeing the robotization process, it takes an enormous amount of energy to start the process of turning biological flesh and blood into metal. Transmutation, in a sense. But even though it takes a lot of power, if it exceeds a certain size, the process becomes unstable and the transformation malfunctions.".
He looked to see the confused faces on his adoptive sister and her companion, smiling patiently and adding in, "Or in other terms that you can understand, everything gets messed up. The being that was being robotized turns more or less into a cyborg with metal parts in places instead of the whole thing. That's why he does it one at a time instead of doing it in groups.".
Both Cream and Cheese replied in an understanding, awed tone, "Ooh…!".
Tails continued, "Yes. So that is why I am surprised that Eggman built something like that without following his usual need to make things more bigger, or hooked it up to something bigger like the drill in the front of the ship.".
The cute little bunny girl inquired, "Umm… Tails, what would have happened if he did that?".
He turned to her and answered in a serious tone, "If Eggman had done that, the machine would have overloaded and most likely blew up. The shockwave would spread and a good chunk of anything that got caught in it would have been turned into part-metal, part-organic beings.".
The thought had scared the two, Cheese shivering and huddling to Cream for some warmth. Holding her friend tightly, the adorable bunny girl looked to Tails and asked, "Is there any way to make sure that doesn't happen?".
Tails turned his attention back to the machine, examining it but hearing Cream's question. He answered, "Well… we could try to destroy it now since it's not turned on, but unfortunately… I didn't bring anything with me. Sonic would usually use his Spin Dash technique to gain enough speed and momentum to destroy it in one or two hits, but he isn't here…".
Normally, Tails would be able to do such a thing as well. He would have been able to use his tails like a helicopter blade, gaining much needed speed and momentum in the process to deliver a kick that would have put a serious dent in the machine. But one of his tails was still injured, and also gummed up from the blue gunk that Eggman used on him.
Cream was about to suggest something… when the machine turned on! The anthro beings jumped back as the device was now activated, the red segmented red glass on the side now showing one bar now lit up in a ruby-colored glow. The small case above it now blinked to life, showing that it was a timer as the numbers 30:00 appeared and started to undergo a countdown.
Tails exclaimed in shock, "Oh no! Someone's activated the machine!".
Cream was getting a bit scared as she went over to her two-tailed friend and exclaimed, "It's not my fault! I didn't touch anything!". Cheese said the same thing, waving his hands about to show that he didn't touch the machine either.
A familiar voice called out, "No, I activated my beautiful machine!". The darkness was soon lifted as lights came on, the sudden burst of said lights causing the children and Chao to shield their eyes. It took them a moment for their optics to re-adjust to it, and when they uncovered their eyes… they saw that Eggman was there, in his Egg-Mobile with the small twin-mini cannons that fired the blue goo substance out & aimed at them.
Tails immediately got in front of Cream and Cheese, defending them as the human adversary floated down more to their level, gradually getting closer & soon circling around them like a shark. Dr. Eggman sneered at the young ones and exclaimed in a semi-aggravated tone, "I have to say, you kids are a real pain in the neck to find! Not on the level of Sonic or Shadow's, mind you, but coming a close third!".
He added, "But now it's all over! Once I've immobilized you both, you two will have a front row seat in seeing my baby in action! In less than 30 minutes, it will be at full power and ready to turn the entire citizens of the planet into my cybernetic slaves! Now, hold still while I goo you together…". He sat back down in his seat, taking aim with his weapon as the onboard computers showed an image of the trio & locked onto them!
Tails looked to Cream and exclaimed, "Cream, let's go!". He took her by the right hand and moved, and just in time as the twin cannons went off and a gunk of blue goo impacted the spot they were just in a few seconds ago.
Eggman growled and gave chase after them, launching the gooey substance at the fleeing hero and heroine. Tails and Cream had to do some impressive leaping and turning to avoid the blue jelly-like substance, and thankfully for them the room was large enough to provide some ample space for them to maneuver.
As they ran and dodged/evaded the spitfire from Eggman's cannons, and making sure not to get caught in the blue gunk that was already on the ground, Tails turned to see the Deluxe Egg Robo-Cannon powering up still… and its timer was now at twenty-five minutes! He panted a little, turning to Cream and exclaiming, "Cream, we can't keep this up for long! And we need to stop that cannon from going off! If you have any ideas, I'm open to them now!".
The bunny girl was about to say something… when they soon ran into a wall! They had been preoccupied with Tails's talk that they didn't see where they were going, even if it was only for a few seconds. They turned to go left, but it was soon blocked by rapid-fire goo that impacted there! The duo soon turned to go right, but it was also blocked by rapid fire. The duo turned to see that blocking them was Eggman, a devious grin on his face as he hovered in front of them.
He chuckled sinisterly and stated in a tone similar to his current mood, "Hehehehehe… game's over, you little pests! Any last words before I stick you three together?".
Cream soon adopted a stern look on her face, one that actually surprised Tails and Eggman. She picked up Cheese, who also had a serious look on his face, and exclaimed, "Take this, you bad man!".
She actually threw Cheese at Eggman, surprising both the human and Tails! The doctor of evil yelled at seeing the blue Chao heading towards his face, but instincts kicked in automatically as he reflexively ducked his head. The living projectile flew over him, resulting in him being alright and Cheese's fate unknown. Rising back up, Eggman cackled at Cream and proclaimed, "Ha! You missed, little brat!".
Cream than did something that one would think was out of character on her… she smirked. Again, the surprises didn't seem to stop coming, at least in the opinion of Tails. She than replied, "No, I didn't miss Mr. Eggman.".
His eyebrow was raised, a perplexed look on his face until he heard some slight motion down below. He looked under his craft… and was surprised to see Cheese below it, right behind his goo-spitting cannon! He let out a small yell when the blue Chao reared up his right fist… and punched at the vulnerable spot where wires and such connected the cannon to the craft!
Let it be known that while Cheese did not have the strength to punch through metal like a certain echidna, he was strong enough to break wires. And his fist was just the right size to connect to the underside of the Egg-Mobile and smash the wires!
The cannon started to sputter and spark small electrical bolts and smoke, Eggman now yelling in surprise and horror as his prized goo cannon was now disabled! Cheese smiled and floated out from underneath the craft, going back to Cream who smiled now and brought him into a hug.
Tails also smiled widely and exclaimed in an exciting, approving tone, "Cheese, that was awesome! You flew under and disabled that cannon! Way to go!". The blue Chao blushed slightly from the praise he was receiving from Cream and Tails.
However, the victor was short-lived as they heard a loud growl coming from Eggman. They looked up to see that the human was REALLY peeved on his weapon being dismantled like so. He was grasping the air with his hands, his fingers flexing as he was imagining throttling the little ones with his bare hands. He growled out, "You… You… You little pest! Do you have any idea how much that cannon costs?! It wasn't easy to make something that can handle my blue substance, and now you've gone and ruined it!".
Cheese just looked at him, pulled down his eyelid and blew a raspberry at the human doctor. This seemed to make Eggman more enraged. He was about to say something, when the doors opened up on the side to reveal… Decoe and Bocoe! Both robots were very shiny, due to being wet, some soap suds on their shoulders and heads.
Bocoe exclaimed in delight, "We're here Dr. Eggman! When we heard you needed back-up, we rushed over here as quick as we could!".
Decoe explained with some embarrassment in his tone, "Sorry if you we look a little wet. Once we heard you needed some assistance, we got out of the Wash cycle as soon as it was done. Didn't bother to wait for the Drying sequence.". There was no need to tell the doctor on how much they slipped and fell due to their slick feet on the floor.
Eggman face-palmed himself and muttered, "Those two… sometimes I wonder if I should make some new henchmen…". For some odd reason, he got the image of three beings in his head. They were shadows but… one looked like a tall anthro chicken robot, another a robot with two drills for hands & also a monkey robot with a light bulb on its head.
And he shook his head violently, getting a strange sensation that particular idea was out of the question. And also those three beings he saw in his head gave him a headache like nothing else. He came back to reality and exclaimed, "Never mind that now! Bocoe, Decoe! Get those little brats now!".
The wet robots looked to where their creator was pointing at, and the duo were surprised to see Cream and Cheese there. However, they obeyed the doctor's orders and started to rush towards the trio.
Cream looked to Tails and exclaimed, "Tails, you go and break that cannon thing! Me and Cheese will distract them and buy you time to stop it!".
The two-tailed fox was about to argue with her once more on not to do something dangerous like so… until he saw in her eyes a certain strength and confidence that actually surprised him a little. She was willing to put herself in danger like so to aid him, and was now hoping to see some confidence from him to her.
After a moment had passed, he gave her a small but confident smile and replied, "Okay Cream! You and Cheese be careful, but keep those two tin-heads occupied while I go and see what I can do about that cannon!".
The bunny girl soon had a smile on her face, glad that her friend was showing confidence in her instead of telling her to stay back. She nodded with determination, Cheese cheering that they would do their best. The duo ran past Eggman, who was again momentarily surprised to see that the fox had actually allowed the bunny girl to do what she was doing.
Bocoe and Decoe rushed towards Cream and Cheese, the duo separating and going in different directions. The two henchbots of Dr. Eggman immediately ran after their chosen targets; Decoe ran after Cream, Bocoe after Cheese.
The tall golden robot was hot on the heels of Cream, but she managed to keep a good distance from his long reach as she ran. Decoe exclaimed, "Get over here, you little girl! Hey! Come back here!". He flailed his arms, trying to reach for his target but to no avail.
Cream giggled and called out, "Not a chance! My mother told me to never go near strangers, and you are as strange as they come!". This got the robot to fuming, his head letting out puffs of steam as he continue to chase her.
Meanwhile, Bocoe was trying to catch his quarry as well. But with his short body and short arms, he was not the speedy-type and Cheese was able to keep out of his reach with ease. The metallic-gray robot exclaimed, "Get over here, you little pest! Ugh! If only I had a bug net to catch an insect like you!".
Cheese merely turned around as he flew, saying something in his native tongue before smacking his short butt in an insulting gesture. Bocoe, who was programmed to be fluent in many languages including Chao, looked rather livid as steam rose from his body and he increased his speed as much as he could.
He exclaimed, "You take that back about my motherboard, you little blue delinquent!".
Cream and Cheese led the two robots on the far side of the room, near the walls as the chase continued.
While this was going on, Tails had been trying to reach the cannon so he could find a way to turn it off WITHOUT blowing it up that could possibly turn them all into cyborgs. However, all of his efforts were blocked by Eggman as he kept himself and his vehicle between the anthro fox and his destructive creation.
He kept zigging and zagging, making sure to block the fox from getting past him. He sneered and exclaimed, "Hahahahaha! Too bad that you can't use your tails here! You would have been able to just fly over me, but I would have just swatted you down like the insignificant insect that you are!".
Tails growled, seeing that he was losing time and patience with the situation here. He then did something unexpected… he leapt forward towards a mildly surprised Eggman, and kicked him hard on the face! His right foot embedded itself deep in the face of the human doctor, a slow-motion effect going on to show that his face looked almost to be caving in on itself!
Normal speed resumed as Tails used Eggman's face like a springboard, leaping away in a backflip style to land perfectly on both feet. The anthro fox saw that Eggman was not just stunned… his face was messed up too! His glasses were cracked a little, showing that the genius had made them to be far tougher than normal ones. But the human sported a bloody nose, said nose now being bent a little & also his mouth showing a missing tooth or so.
The mechanical genius and friend of Sonic smirked and remarked, "Heh, it seems that you just got swatted there! By the way, that's actually a new look for you, Egg-belly!".
Eggman shook his head, which somehow made his features get back to normal though his nose was still a bit bloodied from the kick. He glowered hatefully at the anthro fox and exclaimed, "You'll pay for that, you miserable two-tailed twerp! I was going to let you live so that you could work for me… but it seems now I changed my mind!".
He pressed a button on his control console that looked to have the markings of a sphere with four long curved prongs underneath it. This caused his Egg-Mobile to shake and shudder, causing Tails to frown and take a couple of steps back. The machine than had four hatches open underneath it, which had segmented metal legs of sort come out! The appendages had tri-clawed tips at end of them, and the segmented parts helped to give it much flexibility and movement.
The human doctor laughed out loud and declared, "Ho ho ho ho ho! Take a look at this Tails! I modified my personal carrier to go into a mode that is quite versatile and deadly! I call this form, the Egg-Droid!".
Tails was indeed stunned by this new development, as Eggman was often quite adamant in not wanting to change his personal carrier too much. However, he shook his head to get back to reality and stared at the doctor's new weapon form. He remarked boldly, "That thing won't be able to get me Eggman! New package yes, but same product!".
Dr. Eggman growled in anger and exclaimed, "You'll regret those words, you little pest! Prepare to be captured and beaten!". He worked the controls of his vehicle, pushing the control stick forward. The Egg-Droid moved swiftly towards Tails, showing great mobility and speed as it scuttled toward him like a spider would!
The anthro fox was surprised by the great burst of speed, but he quickly got his cool back as he started to showcase his agility. Even though his tail was disabled, and thus not being able to fly, that did not mean that he was grounded completely per say. He evaded each of the strikes and grabs of the tri-clawed metal appendages, his agility remarkable as he leapt over and through the claws of the machine with ease.
Gradually, Eggman was getting frustrated at this development. The more Tails evaded his robot's claws, the more upset he became. After several failed attempts, he shouted out, "Curses! Okay, so you can seemingly 'fly' even without the need of your tails!".
Tails landed in front of Eggman, panting just slightly as he was a bit winded. He showed agility that one would say was on par with Rouge the Bat, seeing as how he slid and flipped through the holes of the claws with ease. However, he still had much training and practice to do in order to truly be on her level since she was a master thief.
The human doctor soon had a sinister smirk on as he declared, "So let's kick things up a notch!". He pressed a few buttons on his control console… and the room started to shake!
The Egg-Droid leapt into the air, soon landing on top of the cannon but the legs made sure not to crush it. It was now situated over the weapon, like a spider crab of sort. Tails and the others on the platform were doing their best to maintain their footing while the room was now vibrating immensely! In fact, Cream and the robots had to cease in the chase in order to try and steady themselves as they were rocked by the tremors.
The floor than started to slide inward, revealing that the ground was really in sections! Tails leapt high into the air on instinct, but soon remembered that he could not fly! Fortunately for him, he landed on a small circular platform. He looked around to see that the platform was floating in what appeared to be a goo that was bubbling up like lava would!
He stood up and got a better glimpse of the room… and was stunned to see that most of the floor was now gone, the sections sliding into slots in the floor while the middle of the area was now containing the strange gooey substance! About five platforms were floating in the substance, the one he was on included in the count. In the middle was the cannon, still situated and on solid ground with Eggman looking rather pleased at this new development.
While the circular area was wide and expansive, it ALMOST took up the whole space. It ended close to the wall, but provided space for anyone to walk around the edges of it. Cream pointed to the spot and asked Decoe in a trembling voice, "W-What is this?".
The golden robot answered in a proud tone, "Oh, that is the Goo Lava feature that Dr. Eggman created some months ago. It's actually the place where the blue goo that got Tails stuck in the first is made. But he wanted something to be made so that it could force Sonic to fight on platforms rather than on solid ground like usual. But it seemed that the good doctor is using this now for Tails.".
The two than looked at each other, both blinking owlishly for a few moments before Decoe asked himself, "Wait! Why am I just standing here and explaining this to you?". The chase resumed after that, the awkward & cartoonish-like moment gone.
Tails looked to see that he was unable to make any kind of leap to the edges of the pit, but the other platforms were within reasonable jumping distance. However, his train of thought was interrupted when the platform he was on shifted violently. He managed to keep himself steady on the floating platform, but it was not easy. He looked up to see that it was due to Eggman leaping on the area with his Egg-Droid!
The human doctor exclaimed in wicked glee, "Now then... time for you to take a bath in the goo, brat!".
Eggman proceeded to unleash a metallic limb of his droid, which then reached out for Tails. The young fox managed to grab a hold of them in just the nick of time, pushing with all of his might against it. Almost immediately, the Egg-Droid started to push Tails backwards and it thereupon took only a second for the twin-tailed hero to realize that he was now being pushed towards the edge of the gooey lava.
Tails grunted in effort as he struggled in vain to push back the robot's metallic limb that kept on bringing him closer and closer to the edge of the gooey lava. Alas though, his efforts of resisting were unsuccessful. So much so that his arms and legs were each showing signs of strain, as his arms looked to be trembling and his feet were just scrapping on the ground. He turned to look behind him and saw a large bubble bursting out of the blue substance. Hearing the popping sound of that bubble burst only made Tails' efforts grow even more desperate now.
As if the two-tailed anthro's situation wasn't bad enough, Eggman was relishing at the sight of Tails struggling and grunting with effort to try and push back against his machine to no avail. He cackled at seeing the young and resisting twin-tailed fox try to move his feet forward, but it was simply no use as they just kept scrapping on the ground. Tails' exhaustion became more evident as he tilts his head down as if a hero was admitting defeat. And then Eggman began to taunt in his usual tone, boasting "Hahahahaha! Get ready to take a dip, kiddo! Hope you like it, because when it cools and solidifies, you'll be nothing more than a statue for the rest of your little life!".
However, even after having to endure listening to the doctor's sadistic and taunting words, the struggling anthro fox refused to yield as his face contorted to give the expression that he was not willing to give up or give in at all!
Nearby, Cream and Cheese watched as they continued to be chased by the doctor's metallic knuckleheads. They stopped to see the action, now together as they had been chased in circle around the perimeter of the pit. Cream and Cheese were very much worried about their friend, both showing concern and such on their faces.
Their pause in running caused the Decoe and Bocoe to catch up with them, both making flying leaps towards their quarry. Fortunately for the anthros, they heard their yells and looked up to see them coming. The two took a step back, now leaning against the wall as the metal heads slammed into each other at impressive force in mid-air! The impact caused them to let out a loud OOF sound, metal clanging as they knocked each other silly and landed in a heap; Decoe on the bottom, Bocoe on top of him with both groaning in pain.
Cream and Cheese were a bit surprised to see such a crash, but they soon focused back on Tails.
It was at that moment when Tails found himself forced effortlessly by the Egg-Droid to the edge of the lava pool. He turned behind him once more to see the bubbles bursting out of the gooey lava. Seeing this made him quite worried, so he turned his head back to give Eggman and his smug-looking grin a much hateful glare, ignoring the fact that his own body was starting to bend back now.
Cream facial features showed concern and fear as she called out in a frightened tone, "Tails!". She and Cheese felt like having to do something to stop Eggman or his machine from pushing Tails into the gooey lava.
However… neither did the adorable little bunny or her pet Chao notice that a certain small black robot was flying out from one of the vents above.
It was Bokkun, the little TV wielding metal lad and he was looking rather peeved. He said to himself, "I can't believe that I was taken down by that creampuff bunny girl and her little blue pest! Where are they?! Where are they?! Oh, Dr. Eggman is going to melt me down and use me as a paperweight if I don't… ah!".
He looked down, seeing his targets below him. His yellow eyes narrowed, soon turning to red to express the rage he was feeling at the moment. He exclaimed, "There you are! Now to get you and get back in good graces with the doctor!".
Bokkun let out a yell, diving fast now towards the two biological beings.
Cream was too focused on the sight of Tails seemingly losing to the Egg-Droid, but fortunately for her Cheese kept his wits about him. He heard the yell and looked upwards to find that the source of said yelling was coming from Bokkun, who was diving fast and furious towards them! He called out to Cream, his voice able to break through her intense focus. She looked to him and when he pointed up, she was surprised once more to see the black little bot that she knocked out earlier heading straight towards her like a missile!
Thankfully, Cheese actions saved her as she leapt out of the way in time. Bokkun facial expression went from glad-mad to shocked-panicked in a span of two seconds as he flew past Cream… and into the solid metal wall! He let out a yelp of pain as he bounced off of it, becoming a kind of pinball that was now flying fast towards his creator and Tails!
Eggman was grinning as he seemed to be in control of the situation… when SUDDEN his grin morphed into one of pain as he felt something hard slam into the back of his head! He stumbled on the control panels as the momentum pushed him against it, pain etched on his face as he felt his head throb. A goose egg bump rose from the top of his cranium, pulsing and an angry-red color.
He growled in aggravation and turned to see who it was, mild surprised shown before his face turned back once more to anger as he grabbed the one who had run into him by the scruff of the neck. He exclaimed, "Bokkun?! What are you doing here?!".
Apparently, he was still a bit ticked to see him as he had failed his duty from before. More so now that he was the one who had just slammed into him. Said robot was now crying, upset that he had struck his creator and apparently said human doctor was still mad at him for his failure at the jail cell from earlier.
The momentary lapse in force was the moment that Tails needed! The two-tailed fox pained expression from his exertion turned into a smirk before he ran OFF of the goo and let go of his grip on the tri-tripped claws that had been pushing against him!
This caused a reaction, as there was nothing now to keep the machine balanced as Tails was the supposed counterweight. Without him, it fell over with the limbs now being submerged in the gooey pit. Eggman soon realized on what was happening, the Robotnik family member now trying to rectify the situation.
But it seemed that fate had other plans, as high above the area was Shadow!
The black and red hedgehog had seen the entire thing from the rafters above, from when Cheese had disabled Eggman's mini-cannon all the way up to the present. He saw how the kids were holding up on their own against the grandson of his creator, and admitted that they were not that bad. With some training and experience, they would be potent fighters in the future. IF they made that choice to do so.
At seeing Tails being able to handle Ivo Robotnik's machines and surprises, Shadow said to himself, "Heh, you have come a decent way Tails. I don't know if Sonic realizes it, but I do. With some time, you will become as formidable a hero as that blue hedgehog.".
Now at seeing Eggman incapacitated, he decided to end this and soon reveal himself to the trio once everything was said and done. He formed golden chaotic energy into his hands and exclaimed, "CHAOS BARRAGE!".
He threw in rapid succession a multitude of arrow-like spears of energy at the Egg-Droid, raining down on the machine, the black robot and the human doctor a barrage of exploding spears! The explosions were weaker compared to a fully charged Chaos Spear, but what it lacked in a power made up for in quantity.
Bokkun and Eggman were screaming in fear and panic as they were being attacked from behind, the spears of energy not only damaging his creation but also mixing with the blue goo substance in the pit! Tails made sure to stand clear of the attack, looking up to see who was throwing the spears.
The attack was enough that it forced the droid's body more over the edge… and Eggman, Bokkun & the machine went splashing into the gooey lava pit! Tails ran and jumped from the platform so the goo would not get on him, looking back to see the droid, robot and human doctor being swallowed by the substance.
He sighed and looked down at his feet and thought, 'Man, I am so glad I was right about that goo! Sure it's a good binding agent when used, but when heated like it's doing now in the pit…'.
Tails had banked on this theory on a whim, and it seemed that it had paid off. The blue goo substance WAS a very strong adhesive when cooled down, but when heated up… was more or less like regular glue, which gave Tails' feet the stickiness required to put up some resistance. But also enough so that he could escape from it when pulled out. And thankfully, his run across the platform, got rid of the excess goo that was on his shoes.
He looked at the spot where Eggman had dived into, noticing that the blue substance was changing into a greenish color that was slowly spreading. He asked himself, "I wonder why it's changing like that? Could the substance be mixing somehow with those energy spears?".
Tails than looked to the center of the area, seeing that the cannon was still active and the time was now down to fifteen minutes! He was about to leap over and get it… when something exploded right in front of him!
He got splashed by some of the green goo, and could barely have time to examine some on his body when a green metallic claw emerged onto the edge of the ground. Tails forced himself back… and saw that it was the Egg-Droid coming back up! It was still functional, though it was covered in green goo. And the pilot inside was livid, with Dr. Eggman growling and panting hard through gritted teeth as he was also covered in the green substance.
Bokkun was in the same boat as his creator, but said being was not going to have his creation mess up things like before. Without even looking, Eggman reached with his right hand and grabbed Bokkun by the scruff of the neck. This had the little guy's face morph from anger to confusion, than in fright when he was tossed away hard by the human doctor! He yelled loudly, flailing his arms until he hit the wall with a resounding SMACK! Cream and Cheese saw this, wincing from the impact as they saw Bokkun slid down to the ground, not moving at all.
Tails cautiously stepped back, seeing that his nemesis was VERY much not amused at all & felt the angry energy waves coming off of him.
Coincidentally, Decoe and Bocoe recovered from their earlier crash and looked up to see Eggman alive and well. They had been worried about their creator when he was attacked from behind, by both Bokkun and Shadow, and diving into the gooey lava pit. But seeing him emerge like so caused them to cheer, Bocoe yelling out in delight, "Hooray! Dr. Eggman is alive! Hooray!".
The Robotnik family member panted out in fury, "You… You little pest! I am going to enjoy just squeezing the life out of you now!". He wiped away some of the green goo from his face, going back to the control console in front of him to shake his creation free from the gunk that was now on it. The arms in front snapped in front of Tails like a wet towel, flinging some of the now-green substance on him.
It was too quick for him to react, and thus he was now covered from head to toe from the goo. Tails had enough time to dry himself like a house pet or any kind of animal would normally do. But before he could further process on what happened, the young fox was grabbed by a tri-clawed pincer that subsequently crushed him into the wall at lightning speed!
Eggman was grinning madly, seeing that he had Tails right where he wanted him. He then proceeded to have the metallic limb that grabbed his nemesis lift up to his level. Tails was now held up in mid-air, and he could do nothing but try unsuccessfully to free himself.
Cream took notice on this and she again cried out "Tails!", fearing for the young fox's life once more. Before she could do anything else, however, she felt herself being caught and held up by Decoe! Cheese gasped in surprise, but before he could intervene, he was caught and held by Bocoe! The duo had managed to get their wits together, and sneak up behind the two organics while they were distracted.
The tall golden robot kept a tight hold on Cream as she struggled violently, calling out in delight to his creator, "Dr. Eggman! Dr. Eggman! Look! We got Cream and Cheese!".
The human doctor turned to see where the voice of his minion was coming from, looking across from the pit and his expression showing delight. He called out, "Excellent work boys! You two have proven your worth, unlike a certain black robot who shall remain nameless!". His eyes turned briefly towards the comatose Bokkun, shaking his head as he was wondering why he even built the annoying pest.
His attention and eyes soon focused back on his victim, wicked glee on his face as he watched Tails struggle as vainly as possible to escape. The hegemonic villain exclaimed, "Hahahahaha! Well, it seems that you are not so swift on your feet after all. Face it kiddo, you will never be a hero like that pesky blue hedgehog friend of yours. You stayed in his shadow, and a shadow you will forever be!".
Cream, seeing the pained expression on her dear friend, got very angry and called out, "Tails is a hero! He is a hero like Sonic… maybe even more! It's you who don't stand a chance against him, you bad man you!".
The human doctor turned to see the little rabbit girl, miffed on how she was contradicting him… until a nasty grin formed on his face as an equally nasty idea came into his head. He called out, "Decoe, hold the brat a little more!".
Eggman then pushed some buttons, having one of the other arms shoot forward towards the group. Decoe and Cream were surprised at the speed of the appendage, the golden robot letting go of Cream and just in time as the tri-tipped part snapped itself around the bunny girl! It retracted fast, pulling Cream towards Eggman and Tails as she cried out in fear and pain from the sudden actions.
Tails' face showed fear as he called out, "No! Cream!". He started to struggle more, but it was no use as his body was still being tightly restrained. But unknown to him and the others, his struggling and the green goo that he got covered in momentarily was causing something within him. It was subtle yes, but it was there.
Eggman chuckled evilly as he saw Cream now dangling upside down from the claws of his Egg-Droid, bringing her closer to him so that he can see the fear in her eyes. He stated, "Hehehehehe… not so brave when you are face to face with me, eh little one? I do wonder what will happen if I dipped you in the goo here? I bet you would make a lovely lawn statue! Hahahahahahaha!".
At hearing the words… something snapped in Tails! Rage and anger covered him, not just at the situation of him being helpless… but also the threat that the human doctor made to his friend who was like a sister to him! With a roar of anger and might, he put his tails together… and spun them around! Not only was his tails free from the blue goo from earlier, it seemed that they were healed!
Eggman and Cream, along with the rest at the lip of the pit, were stunned to see that Tails was lifting himself up with his own power! The tails beneath him were whirling fast, impressive amounts of wind being created and pushing down on the floating platform!
The human doctor was panicking now, his droid now being shaken up due to the air pressure created by his nemesis' twined-tails. The floating platform now shifted violently, causing the Egg-Droid to rock from the action! In a sudden burst of strength from himself and mighty yell, Tails managed to break free from the holds the appendage had on him!
Everyone was so surprised by this, including Eggman as the two-tailed fox flew high into the air now! Cream was stunned by this, and it showed on her face. But it soon changed to one of delight to see that her friend's tails were not only healed, it seemed that he had gotten a boost of power and strength!
Bocoe exclaimed in surprise and awe, "How did he do that?! That's impossible!".
Decoe added, "Yes! By all rights and calculations, Tails shouldn't have been able to break free!".
The eight year-old did not really pay attention that not only his tails and body were healed up, but also gaining a power/strength boost. Right now, he was focused on his target which was Dr. Eggman. The words from said being still rang in his ears, and seeing Cream still in the grip of the madman had his blood boiling hot!
He exclaimed loudly for all to hear, "NO ONE MESSES OR THREATENS MY LITTLE SISTER AND GETS AWAY WITH IT!". He was all driven on rage now, and it showed on his face and in his actions!
Eggman looked very much stunned, and also a little fearful as he saw that Tails was not only free and healed, but powered up too!
The friend of Sonic dived down at impressive speeds towards Eggman, using his momentum to deliver a powerful kick to the appendage that held Cream! It was enough that it loosened up to let her go, the adorable and brave bunny girl falling down… but Tails managed to swoop in and get her, carrying her bridal-style as he flew away from Eggman and his machine.
All were stunned to see Tails be this aggressive, as this had only occurred when he was defending Vanilla earlier from the robots who had taken her hostage.
The two-tailed fox flew towards Bocoe and Decoe, the metallic-gray robot letting go of Cheese as he raised his arms in fear at the incoming orange organic missile! The duo ran away, Tails and Cream flying past a stunned Cheese who continued to look on in wonder. The flying fox than lashed out with his right leg in a flying kick, which smashed right into the two metal heads! Both robots let out cries of pain and panic as they were sent into one of the metal walls fast!
A CLANG sound was heard, and the ones in the room were treated to the sight of the henchbots now embedded deep in the wall with only their lower bodies sticking out. Though their legs were slumped, indicating that they were most likely knocked out.
Seeing that his attack had done its work, Tails nodded his head and flew back to where Cheese was at. He set Cream down next to him, the blue Chao rushing towards Cream and going into her arms. The adorable bunny girl looked to Tails, seeing that he was regaining himself instead of being lost in his anger & rage like before. She whispered with concern, "Tails… are… are you okay?".
Said fox took in a deep breath to steady himself and answered back, "I am now. In fact… I feel more than okay! I feel… I feel great! Look! My tails have healed, and I seem to be slightly stronger and faster than before!". He had a smile on his face, showing that he was very much pleased with the development. He looked to his tails, which were swaying about with no problems.
Cream inquired in wonder, "But… how is it that your tail got healed up? And that you are stronger and faster?".
The mechanical genius looked to the gooey lava pit, which was now more green than blue in color. He had a pensive look on his face as he answered, "It must be due to the goo. The energy spears that rained down must have changed the goo's chemical structure somehow, though how I have no idea.". It seemed that Shadow's spears were truly chaotic in nature, as if it hit chemicals and such, the after-effects were random at best. Most of the time it would cause an explosive reaction… but not in this case, it would seem.
Some clanging sound was heard, causing the trio to see that it was due to Eggman's machine, which was still functional. Tails got a serious look on his face as he said to Cream in an equal serious tone, "Cream, you and Cheese stay here, okay?".
The little bunny and her pet Chao nodded at their companion, who turned to face the Egg Droid and said "Time for me to end this!". He flew down towards the doctor and his creation, who sneered and lashed out with two of his Egg-Droid's appendages. Tails easily evaded the snapping claws with ease now that had his mobility and speed fully restored… no, more better than ever for the time being! Tails felt that the strength and speed boost he had was only temporary, so he had to make it count!
The fox started to zip everywhere at the machine, battering it with his feet with strong kicks that had power due to his speed momentum! Eggman yelled in rage as he tried to either grab or swat at his foe, his face turning a bit red and exclaiming, "Hey! Watch it! Ow! Stand still you little pest! Argh! Quit it!".
Tails, though, was in no mood to heed the doctor's calls of rage and focused at the task at hand. He continued to beat on the body of the machine, which was the Egg-Mobile itself since it was the very core of the droid form. Eggman was getting exhausted, from his own rage and also from the goo that seemed to have sapped his strength. It would appear that the changed chemicals had different effects for different species.
For Tails, it healed his body & giving him a boost in strength and speed. For Dr. Eggman however, he started to feel anger and fatigue.
After some minutes, Eggman was starting to feel knackered as he panted loudly with his tongue hanging out. Tails saw this and thought rapidly, 'Okay! Eggman has a new toy that is apparently very mobile and from what I can tell from those legs… it's made of a metal that is actually quite resilient.'.
He assumed correctly that the metal that made the appendages gave Eggman's vehicle extra mobility and speed, but also strength as it could not identify a weakness to how to destroy them. Tails continued on his line of thought, 'The thing's pincers have a good grip, but it seems the legs also give weight to… ah! That's it!'.
Tails soon smirked and called out, "Hey Eggman! Try and catch me if you can! Like I said before about that new form of yours; new packing, same product… loser, which is you!".
Eggman was getting peeved once more, making the necessary calculations before taking another leap to where Tails was at. This time, the nimble fox stood his ground and readied himself. When the machine landed on the platform, he paid careful attention to the legs when it made impact. The platform tilted and teetered violently like before, but Tails now saw what he needed to see.
He managed to evade the swiping arms again, this time going under the Egg-Droid and to the place where the platform tilted. A small pile of the green goo was now at the edge, heated and steaming from the pit. Tails stepped in it, making sure to get some good footing in it. He called out in mock horror, "Oh no! I've stepped in the goo! I'm stuck!".
The human doctor turned his vehicle around, looking down at Tails as his feet were indeed stuck in the goo. He cackled and stated with glee, "Hahahahahaha! Well, well. Looks like the fox is not so brainy after all! Now then… prepare to be crushed, Tails!".
He activated two of the arms of his droid, which reached out for Tails. But the young fox reacted in time and flew up sky high, dodging the oncoming claws as they instead punctured right through the wall.
Eggman was bewildered to have just seen probably his most daring robotic fighter literally getting outfoxed by a young anthro fox. The look on the human scientist's face made it clear that he was not happy with this, and he couldn't help but curse the outcome by exclaiming "Oh come on! Give me a break!".
But the doctor's frustrations was far from over. What he doesn't realize is that Tails has now got him and his machine exactly where he wants them. The little fox smirked down at his opponent and said, 'Gotcha!'. He thereupon flew down to the top of the core, looking down at a pitiful-looking human who only raised his head up to glare at him. Tails smirked and came down fast, causing the Robotnik man to flinch and cover himself with his arms.
The doctor assumed that Tails was going to attack him… but he assumed wrong. He felt nothing, and peeked through his arms… to see Tails now grinning at him close-up and pressing a button on the control console.
Tails flew up fast, confusing the doctor… until he saw one of the appendages from his droid form raises up… and smacked him down hard on the head! Stars seemed to explode from his eyes as he felt the metallic tentacle just smack him hard on the noggin, causing him to get KO'd good. He slumped in his seat, the Egg-Droid soon slumping down and landing with a thud on the floating platform.
Miles 'Tails' Prower had done it! He had won!
Said fox was smiling, a feeling of a good kind of pride welling up inside of him as he had just taken Eggman down all on his own! Cream and Cheese cheered loudly, hopping up and down in joy as they shouted their praise to the young lad.
Tails said to himself softly as he continued to hover over the action, "I… I did it… I beat Eggman all on my own! Without Sonic, or without my usual bag of tricks and tech stuff! I… I really did it!".
He felt that he had accomplished something amazing and of great importance in his life, and no one would be able to take that away from him.
The young fox soon regained himself, turning his head to the left to see Cream and Cheese. He smiled brightly as he started to descend towards them, so great in his win over the human doctor… he failed to see something black coming hard towards him!
Bokkun had regained consciousness enough earlier to see everything; Tails bursting free from the hold of the droid, flying in the air and saving Cream, smacking away Decoe and Bocoe… and just wailing on his creator until he had pressed the button that had one of the metal appendages come down hard on the cranium of the Robotnik man.
He had seen his creator go down hard… and he was now livid, as it showed on his face very much. His expression was that of unbridled anger and rage, as he now wanted to avenge his creator very much!
He activated his jet pack, flying off in a rage towards Tails and crashing into him hard! The anthro fox let out a yelp of surprise and pain as he felt himself getting tackled in mid-air! Cream and Cheese watched in horror as their friend was tackled, and both Bokkun and Tails slamming hard into the wall!
Once they hit, they slid down to the ground. Fortunately for the both of them, they landed near the lip of the rim of the pit. Tails moaned as he slowly got up, rubbing his head as he was now in pain. The speed and power boost had worn off, but he was still in one piece & also able to fly.
He groaned out, "Ouch… what hit me?".
A clicking sound came near him, and a parabolic point was in his face. His eyes opened wide to see a ferocious-looking Bokkun, who was pointing his Taser-gun at Tails at nearly point-blank range! The small black robot answered with anger in his tone, "I hit you!".
Tails froze, as this was something he had seen only in a couple of movies on Earth… and he knew that any sudden movements would most likely be his last. He thought, 'Bokkun has now seriously lost his mind! That gun of his… it can only fire electrical bolts that is meant to stun and disable. But at this range…'.
Normally, a Taser gun would be effective but non-lethal at a given distance as the energy would lose some power at being fired from a distance. But at point-blank range… the blast would be in full with no restrictions, and thus be quite lethal to whomever got hit by it.
Bokkun continued on in his anger, "You… You humiliated me! You and that dumb bunny and Chao friend of yours made Eggman lose trust in me! And you have gone and beat him up, and you're not even Sonic! He lost to a nobody! A sidekick! A… A shadow! But now… oh now… I will redeem myself by finishing you off here!".
He was close to pulling the trigger, his face set now to a maniacal grin that would be a close second to Eggman's own grin. He poked the gun at the left cheek of Tails and finished off his crazed monologue, "Hehehehe… I wonder how you will be when you're hit at close range with 500 volts of electricity! I bet that your face is going to be very much black like charcoal! Hehehehe… let's just see for ourselves, shall we?".
There was little Tails could do, as any sudden movement on his part could very well force Bokkun to fire. He closed his eyes, bracing himself for the worst.
The little robot was all set to redeem himself for his creator by finishing off Tails on his own… but he was so focused on his target at the moment, he didn't see a certain bunny girl come up from behind him!
Cream and Cheese were watching the serious drama play out, and the daughter of Vanilla was very much panicking on how to save her friend. She wondered on what she could do to save Tails… and that is when Cheese found a solution by finding a suitable-sized metal bar that had fallen from the rafters above, thanks to all of the slamming that had been going on in that area.
The bunny girl took the bar from her Chao friend, looked at it for a moment, then back to Bokkun & Tails. She understood now what she had to do, nodding to Bokkun before rushing off towards the duo! It was dangerous, it was reckless and foolhardy… but she didn't care, as she wanted to save someone that she considered a brother!
She cried out, "YOU LEAVE MY BROTHER ALONE!".
Bokkun turned in surprise, but it was too late. Cream yelled with all her might as she smashed the bar into the jetpack on the back of the small black robot! The impact was just enough to activate it, causing Bokkun to yell in surprise as he took off quick! Cream had wisely backed away a little so that she was not caught in the sudden blast, both she & the others watching as the little guy started to fly around the room.
He was yelling in panic and fear, doing loops and crazy twists all over as he was flying in the air quick! He tried to de-activate his jetpack, but it was no use as the On/Off function was disabled. He called out, "I CAN'T TURN IT OFF! THAT DUMB BUNNY BROKE THE SWITCH!".
The small robot did a loop, directly above Eggman who was starting to come back to the land of the living. He flew high… and his engine sputtered, showing that it was both out of juice and non-functional. Bokkun let out another yell as gravity got him in her grip, and he plummeted down quick!
Meanwhile, Eggman was awake and very much in a daze. He held his head and muttered, "That smarts… oooh, when I get my hands on that brat, I'll…". Before he could finish his words, he heard something and looked up and saw Bokkun falling down on him. The robot was flailing his limbs about, crying in a panic as he was descending fast.
Eggman muttered in a defeated tone, "Oh no…".
Just as he finished those words, Bokkun landed headfirst on the doctor! Both had their eyes wide open in pain before slumping down, both knocked out!
Cream, Cheese and Tails had seen everything, very much stunned on what had occurred. But when they snapped back to reality, Cream went over and crouched down at Tails. She muttered softly in relief "You're okay, big brother...".
Her words made him smile softly, replying back in a reliving tone, "Yeah, I'm okay Cream... thanks to you, little sister.". Cream took the gratitude beyond some expectations and gave Tails a hug, which the young fox returned as he wrapped his arms around the little bunny.
It was a very touching scene, one that had Shadow smile sadly at that. He saw the two hugging… and his mind imposed himself and Maria Robotnik over the two forms. He said to himself, "Maria… if things had been different… would you have seen me like family, like they do now?".
He shook himself out of his thoughts, the images of himself and Maria vanishing as Tails and Cream were shown. He knew that focusing on 'what-if' scenarios was pointless now, and that it was to be focusing on the future. The black and red hedgehog remembered his promise to Vanilla, using Chaos Control to warp towards the duo.
Cream and Tails broke the hug upon seeing the form of Shadow reappear next to them out of the blue. The two-tailed fox called out, "Shadow! You're here! I had a feeling it was you, seeing those energy spears from before!". He rose up from his place on the ground, still having a hold on Cream.
Said bunny girl asked, "What are you doing here, Mr. Shadow?".
The hedgehog's eyes were focused on Eggman and his Egg-Droid, replying in his usual firm tone, "I'm here to put an end to the doctor's latest scheme. But it seems that you done and did it for me, Tails. Good job on that.".
Tails had NEVER received a compliment of any kind from Shadow in the past, so he had a look of surprises on his face, which Shadow saw briefly from the corner of his eyes. It amused him, and a faint smirk appeared on his face before resetting it back to his serious one. He called out, "Chaos Spear!". His right hand formed a golden glow of energy, and he threw it towards the human doctor, robot and machine with such strength and precision that one would try to recruit him for professional baseball.
The spear of chaotic light flew fast, striking true at the center of the machine! It caused a powerful explosion, which sent Eggman and Bokkun flying through the air! While the Egg-Droid was now decimated completely into a pile of scrap that was now sinking into the gooey lava, some of the shrapnel had embedded itself to the metal wall in various places.
Eggman's suspenders & Bokkun's belt had slid on one of the long metal poles from the destroyed machine during their flight, causing them to get hung up on the metal object. However, the momentum had them slam into the metal wall… with Bokkun getting crunched between the wall and Eggman's bottom as he slid from the momentum of their flight!
So now, Shadow and the others had a prime view of Eggman and Bokkun getting hung up defeated, with the small robot being dealt extra damage due to being crunched hard by his creator's huge bottom.
Shadow was satisfied with his work, while Tails and the others were impressed by both the explosion & from what happened to the human and robot.
However, the victory was short-lived when Tails noticed something! His eyes went back to the Deluxe Egg Robo-Cannon, and saw that the timer was now down to seven minutes! He released Cream and flew back to the center of the pit, working fast as he ripped off the side of the machine, underneath the timer indicator. He looked at the wires, chips and mother-boards that made up the deadly weapon.
Cream, Cheese and Shadow looked at him as he worked, the bunny girl calling out in confusion, "Tails! What's wrong?!".
The two-tailed fox replied in a panicked tone, "I can't shut this thing down! If I had some more time, I could probably have done it… but right now this thing is set to activate! But… there is something I can do about it! Hold on!".
He worked fast, taking apart wires and crossing several of them together. When it was done, the timer flashed from red to golden! He called out, "I've set it to overload so that it could destroy itself, so that Eggman can't use it! But now, the blast might still do its robotization function! So I need to put this whole ship high enough so the blast radius won't get anywhere near the ground!".
Tails flew back to the others, knowing that they only had six minutes left until the machine exploded. He looked to Shadow and asked, "Shadow, do you know where Vanilla Rabbit is at?!".
He answered, "She is at her house. I brought her there after saving her, and promised her to bring you two back to her.".
Knowing that Vanilla was safe brought relief to both Tails, Cream and Cheese. But the fox knew what had to be done now. He asked once more, "Okay! Shadow, you take Cream and Cheese to her! And see if you can get them out of here! I'm going to the control room and have this ship rise up into the air! Hopefully it will be fast enough that the blast and shockwave won't reach the ground.".
Shadow nodded, but Cream and Cheese were against this. She went to Tails and asked in a pleading tone, "But Tails… what about you? How will you get off the ship?".
He answered with strong conviction in his tone, "I will find a way off. Trust me… I'll be back. So please, you and Cheese go with Shadow back to your mom. I'll be right behind you.". He then gave her a hug, which surprised her slightly before returning the gesture.
She whispered to him in a soft, pleading tone, "Please come back to me and Mom… big brother.".
He slowly broke the hold, nodded his head and looked to Shadow. The hedgehog saw the resolve in the fox's eyes, seeing that it was on the same level as Sonic. He returned the gesture, then put his hands on Cream's shoulder. Cheese flew and landed in the arms of his friend, whose eyes never left Tails. Shadow then lifted something up in his right hand… a green Chaos Emerald!
Earlier on, Shadow had raided Eggman's personal belongings in a vault that he had discovered on the ship after freeing the prisoners. It contained what the human had considered precious… and among the treasures was a Chaos Emerald!
Shadow focused his power into the potent gemstone and declared loudly, "Chaos Control!". He and the others vanished in a flash of light, leaving Tails alone.
The fox said to himself "I need to get to the control room fast". Then, ready as ever, he took flight with his twin-tails and flew up to try and get to the control room. Tails was determined to get there as fast as possible, knowing that time is running out and that it is only a matter of minutes before the control room explodes and anyone left behind on the ship will likely perish as a result of this.
~Back with Vanilla~
At the Rabbit home, Vanilla was patiently sitting in the living room, waiting for Shadow to return with the children. Normally, one would be very worried… but Vanilla was tougher than one gave her credit for. As she was waiting, a flash of light appeared before her… and appearing in dramatic fashion was Shadow, Cream and Cheese!
The mature beauty rose up from her chair and exclaimed, "Cream! Cheese! Shadow! You're okay!".
The adorable girl bunny ran from Shadow to her mother, crying out in joy and leaping into her arms. Vanilla embraced both her daughter and the blue Chao in a tight, loving hug as all were glad to be reunited.
Shadow opted to show a small smile at the touching scene, but like always it was brief before his face turned back to a serious tone as he went outside to do something else. Vanilla saw this and called out, "Hold on! Where… Where is Tails?".
The red and black hedgehog answered in his usual tone, "He is being the hero. He asked me to bring those two back while he had something important to do. But he said not to worry… that he will be back once he has finished his task.".
Vanilla realized that Tails was now being the hero, which more likely was going in harm's way now. She was really worried about him, and it showed in her facial expression of concern.
Shadow remarked, "Have faith in him. He is a kid… but he is a brave one. Now, I'm going to warp your house back down to the ground.".
That was the reason he was leaving, to go outside and touch the house so that he could warp it & himself back down to the earth below. Normally, he would not have the power to perform such a task as his Chaos Control had limited range and could not do objects that were as big as Vanilla's house. But that was if he did not have a Chaos Emerald. But now that he had one… he could perform the task with ease.
As he went outside, Cream looked to her mother and stated that she was very worried about her brother. Vanilla smiled softly and told her in a soothing tone, "Do not worry, little darling. Like Shadow said… have faith in Tails. He will come back to us. That I know and believe.".
In a flash of light, the house and Shadow vanished from the Egg Carrier!
~Back with Tails~
The young fox had arrived at the control room. It is at this point that the room, and practically the whole ship, was on the verge of crumbling as time was running out fast.
Needing to act ASAP, the twin-tailed mechanical hero rushed over to the control panel and pulled the acceleration backwards. This caused the entire ship to start descending upwards. Tails took notice of this and said "Okay, that's done. Time to get out of here!". He then took flight on his twined-tails once more and flew out of the control room.
Tails was searching for a way out when a sudden echo of nearby sounds had brought him to a halt. He listened closely to where the abruptly sounds were coming from, then seconds later he heard it again from the direction he was just about to come across.
The anthro fox continued flying through the corridor, and kept on hearing the same abrupt sounds that was coming through his direction. Simply put, the further Tails went, the more he heard the sounds coming through at him. It was getting clear to young fox's ears that what he seemed to be hearing was the voice of someone crying out for help by the sound of it.
He eventually arrived back to the area where Shadow had teleported with Cream and her mother and pet on their way out of the ship. What happened then was Tails heard a loud cry just to the opposite side of where he was standing. Taking a look, his suspicions were all but confirmed when he saw Eggman clinging on for his dear life. Said doctor was having a rant to himself as he lamented "Ah! As if losing to that no good foxy goody two-shoes and watching him defeat my newly super-prototype machine wasn't bad enough, now I am left stranded here. And what do my hencebots do!? Make a run for the exit rather than help out their boss! When I get hold of them, I'll... ah-ahh!".
The sight of seeing his nemesis being on the verge of falling to his doom made Tails think rapidly to how he should react to the situation.
In one aspect to his mind, Eggman is a no-good megalomaniac who takes pleasure in endangering the Mobius population whenever it comes to accomplishing his goals or battling Sonic the Hedgehog. So the fact that Eggman is now just moments away from more than likely falling to his death, well that'll mean no more of his dastardly antics forever.
But being the noble and ethical hero that he grew up to be throughout his life, Tails knew that he was just too good to be the type of hero who would take revenge on those around him. After all he has no vengeance within him, nor does he ever feel the need to hurt anybody who ever hurt him. At times he wanted to do it, but in the end all he cares about is protecting others around him.
Letting out a sigh of conscience, the young fox approached Eggman as the latter was dangling for his dear life. Tails reached out his right hand out to his nemesis said "Here, take my hand!". The doctor was about to respond to this when all the area shook all the sudden, which immediately signaled Tails' confirmation that the ship was now heading upwards.
In that moment, Eggman lost his grip and was a second away from tumbling over to his demise. But fortunately for him, his anthro nemesis managed to grab onto his hand just in time. Tails was struggling to pull Eggman up to safety, but slowly managed to find the strength to make progress in doing so. It seemed as though the young fox will ultimately bring his enemy up to safety.
But soon enough the entire room began to quake all the more rapidly. And in the ensuing circumstances, Eggman slipped down into the pit. And Tails ended up getting pulled down with him thanks to the doctor's overweight body.
Now the twin-tailed mechanical hero had one hand dangling at the edge of the cliff, and the other still holding onto Eggman's. In any case things were struggling for Tails once more as he and Eggman looked set to fall into the green substance that was still in the pit. Tails took a glance at this... and in that moment an idea was starting to form into his head.
Eggman took notice of the youngster's expression turning from worry and thought into an idealistic smirk, blurting out "What are you smirking at now, brat!?".
The little fox answered with a smirk "I'm thinking it's time for a bath after all!". Then before Eggman could respond, Tails released his hand from the dangling edge. He and Eggman tumbled down into the pit, though not before the doctor was just screaming like a youngster who felt scared of heights. Both splashed into the pit, and their fates were now left ambiguous for the time being.
~On the ground~
The Rabbit household was back on solid earth, trees in places around them along with various anthro beings. They were the prisoners that Shadow had managed to set free, who had managed to find parachutes or anything resembling one to escape the flying fortress by leaping off of it. Also with them were Eggman's three hencebots. Bokkun and Becoe and Decoe somehow were able to sneak their way off their leader's ship, but after landing on the ground they have all become too disabled to do anything now. Suffice to say that Shadow is making sure they don't do anything rash anyway.
After peering through her window door to check the all-clear, Vanilla opened the door. She and the others all emerged from the inside to see that they were indeed outside of Eggman's ship.
Shadow walked around the house to see them, then they all looked up into the sky. Cream and the others did the same, all looking towards the heavens to see the immense metal ship now rising at an accelerated rate. Cream was whispering rapidly in a worrying tone, "Come on Tails… come on… come back to us…".
Just as the ship was reaching a good distance from the ground… the drill in front of the ship had explosions come forth in rapid succession! And following that, the whole ship started to explode! Multiple explosions occurred, plumes of fire blossoming in various parts of the craft! Said craft still went high into the air, many of the anthros down below watching their fiery show… while three certain beings were looking on in concern and fright.
Just then… the middle of the Egg Carrier exploded!
The metal craft looked to have split in two, before exploding in a fiery ball that was like nothing most of the anthros had never seen before! It lit up the night sky in spectacular fashion, a mixture of silver among the red and orange fireball! It was the energy from the machine that would turn anything organic into a cyber component… but the silver energy soon faded away, which meant that nothing would be turned into a cyborg this night.
While many cheered that the aircraft was no more, four were not joining in the celebration. Cream, Vanilla and Cheese had looks of horror on their faces, wondering if Tails had gotten out of there… and slowly, fear was creeping into their minds and hearts that he did not escape. Shadow was looking stoically at the air, his expression blank and firm.
Cream and Vanilla had tears in their eyes, starting to believe that Tails did not make it… until Shadow spoke with a slight smirk on his face, "Heh, there he is. Dramatic, just like Sonic.".
The rabbits and Chao looked to the heavens more… and saw an orange and white object coming in fast to their location! It steadily got bigger and clearer to show that… it was Tails!
Cream and Cheese let out a shout of pure joy at seeing the fox, alive and well, while Vanilla still had tears in her eyes… but there were now tears of happiness rather than of sorrow! The anthros looked up as well, and were amazed to see that it was Tails coming towards them… and that he was not alone!
In the hands of the two-tailed fox was Eggman, the human held limp and appearing petrified. Tails looked down to see Cream and their company watching him from the ground. He smiled happily at them.
Tails then turned his attention by to the doctor he is holding up, and smirked at him before saying "Hope you have a nice landing, Eggman!". And with that, he let Eggman go from a couple of feet in the air. Eggman screamed to his horror as he fell onto the ground, landing soundly on top of his minions. They let out an OOF expression at their boss' impact on them, before then Eggman and his hencebots were rendered unconscious in defeat.
Tails landed in front of them, looking exhausted but very much pleased that he had managed to escape just in the nick of time.
He looked up… only to get himself tackled by a furry missile, which was Cream and Cheese as they hugged him tightly. The duo cried, but it was one of relief and joy. Tails' smile turned happy again and he returned the hug, very glad to be back in the arms of his friends whom he considered family. Vanilla and Shadow joined them, followed by the anthro beings who formed a ring around the group.
Shadow spoke up in his usual tone, "I see that you took the time to save them, I see.".
Tails looked up to the stoic anti-hero and answered, "Yup! I took another dip in that green goo, figuring it would give me the power and speed boost like before. I was lucky that my assumption was right, as I got the boost I needed to make my way to the control room quick. I programmed the computer to make the aircraft rise high into the air fast, then went back to take Eggman with me. We escaped the blast, and VERY lucky that none of that silver energy touched any of us.".
He finished, "And also, if it wasn't for that boost of strength, I would never have been able to lift Eggman with me.".
Shadow nodded, while the rest of the anthros were surprised at this. One of them, an anthro pig being asked, "Say, was Sonic the one that beat Eggman? Was he there?".
It was Cream that answered him in a firm tone, "Nope! Mr. Sonic was not on the ship, nor did he defeat the bad doctor. It was all due to my big brother, Tails here!". Again, this brought much murmuring as the citizens of Mobius always saw Sonic defeating the human doctor. To see someone else defeat him, who was considered a sidekick to the blue hedgehog, really stunned them.
Vanilla walked to them and spoke softly, "Cream… you know that Tails is not your brother. But… he can be.".
Both children and Chao looked to her; hope in the eyes of Cream & Cheese, wonder in the eyes of Tails. He asked in a hopeful tone, "W-What do you mean?".
The motherly beauty smiled at him and answered, "What I mean is this… Tails, I would like to officially adopt you as my son. Would… Would you like to be part of the family? To have a home here with us?".
Cream and Cheese were looking like their birthday had come early, looking now to Tails with their eyes shining with hope that he would accept.
Tails was very much stunned by this. He thought, 'Vanilla… wants to adopt me? I… I can be part of the family… officially?'. This was a serious, life-changing decision here for him.
Vanilla put in, "I know that we have to get some paperwork and such involved… but… I would be very glad and honored for you to be part of this family. To be a son to me, and a brother to Cream here.".
The two-tailed fox felt in his heart, and in his mind, on his answer. He looked to the mother and child, plus Chao friend & answered, "I… Yes… Yes! I wish to be part of the Rabbit family!".
This brought a shout of joy from Cream and Cheese, who launched themselves once more and hugged Tails! He returned the hug, tears of joy flowing from his face as well as the others. Vanilla was also overjoyed, and it showed on her face. It was true that it would take some time and legal paperwork… but soon, she would have Tails as her adoptive son!
After the small celebration, Tails and Cream look to Eggman and his pitiful lackeys. The two-tailed fox commented, "Well, I have to say that is one bad scrambled egg. Hehehehe…".
Cream giggled at the pun, even if it was a little corny, and added in, "Yup! He was poached good, and his three bad robots were not all that cracked up to be!". The two shared a laugh together.
Shadow couldn't help but express a faintest smile on his face. He too was overwhelmed by the positive emotions that was coming from the group. Said black and red hedgehog commented to Tails and the others in his head, 'Heh… a dream come true for them all. Good luck kid… no, Tails. Good luck, with this life-changing decision that… I really believe will work for the better.'.
He then approached them and stated, "I believe that I have some issues to discuss with the good doctor. Tails, do you mind if I take him to deliver my own brand of justice?".
This surprised Tails due to the fact that Shadow rarely asked for anything, as he often did what he wanted & not paying much care to the consequences. And he was being courteous to him, which he never did at all with Sonic! He shook his head slightly so snap back to reality and answered, "Oh! Oh, yes of course. Go ahead Shadow. After what he and his minions did to us, you are more than welcome to him.".
Normally, Tails and Sonic would just let Eggman go so he could hatch one of his usual schemes. No jail on Mobius could hold him, as they were not advanced in technology as Earth was.
Shadow nodded and made his way towards the human & robots, intent on delivering justice to them… in a way that would make even the hardcore officers of G.U.N. back on Earth look tame by comparison. He stopped for a moment, turning around to look at Cream, Cheese and Tails.
He stated evenly but sincerely, "You three make a great team. You went well above and beyond your limits and capabilities, going the extra mile to stop Dr. Eggman's scheme & also foil the attacks of his robotic henchmen. You three should be proud of yourselves.".
The various anthro beings were very surprised to hear this, more so for Tails as Shadow did something that he rarely did, and that was to compliment someone like this.
The creation of Gerald Robotnik looked directly at Tails and continued on, "I also want to make amends for my past behavior involving the being you knew as Cosmo. It… It was wrong for me to try and eliminate her in the past. So Tails… what is it that you wish for me to do for you in order to make said amends?".
Tails never knew that he would be shocked this much, Cream and Cheese also in the same boat. The others, however, were perplexed on what they were talking about.
After some time, the anthro mechanical engineering genius sighed and answered in a sincere tone, "There… There is nothing to make amends for, Shadow. I forgive you for what you have done in the past. And… I bet that Cosmo does too.".
Shadow saw that it took some strength for Tails to say something like that, and once more his respect for the two-tailed fox rose. Vanilla called out, "Mr. Shadow, hold on a moment please.".
He looked to her, showing that he was listening. The mature beauty smiled softly and asked, "My daughter's party is actually tomorrow night. I believe that my daughter and myself would be very pleased if you could attend.".
Now Shadow was the one surprised, as the black and red hedgehog NEVER got invited to a birthday party of any kind! His emotions were shown on his face, Tails, Cream and Cheese giggling/chuckling at seeing such a sight. He quickly regained his composure and answered, "I… I believe I can do that. That would be AFTER though I am through with the doctor here.". He gestured to the still knocked-out humans and his robotic lackeys.
Cream walked over to Shadow and put forth in a timid tone, "Umm… Mr. Shadow… before you go and take them to do whatever it is you want to do to them, might I ask you something first? It could be like a present from you to me!".
The adult hedgehog raised an eyebrow at her and inquired curiously, "What do you have in mind?".
The adorable rabbit girl gestured for him to lean down so she could whisper it to him, than gesturing Tails to come over and listen in. When the two boys had gathered around the young girl, who started to whisper to them her present… it caused Shadow to beam with acceptance and Tails to chuckle. Vanilla and the other anthro onlookers were once again confused on the whole situation.
~Next night~
The sun was setting, and the moon was out as the birthday party for Cream was underway at their native village! And some unexpected but very welcome guests had arrived to the party; Sonic, Amy, Knuckles, Rogue, Big, and Froggy!
The group had heard on what happened to Tails and Cream involving Eggman and his robotic minions, so needless to say they were surprised to hear that their small & young friends had managed to defeat the diabolical doctor! So they had come to the party, bearing gifts for the little rabbit girl & also wanting to congratulate her, Cheese and Tails for a job well done.
Tails was looking well, his two tails fully healed and recovered. An expert doctor had told him to take it easy, despite the green goo from before having hyper-healed his injured tail. Now that the effect was gone, he needed to rest a little and not to do any kind of strenuous work for some hours. The doctor had told Tails on how a majority of quick fixes often led to nasty side-effects, but it seems that the two-tailed fox had been lucky as he just needed to take it easy for a bit.
Also attending the party was Shadow, which again surprised the group - especially Sonic & Rouge. The black and red hedgehog had used his Chaos Control to warp the Rabbit household back into place… EXACTLY into place, like it had never been abducted in the first place! Of course, Tails managed to fix up the plumbing and such there, tweaking it out to make sure that everything was truly back in place.
Another sight to see that got them very much stunned was seeing Dr. Eggman there… dressed as a very funny clown! And by his side were Decoe, Bocoe and Bokkun, also dressed up as clowns & doing tricks for the many guests that were part of the celebration.
Earlier that day, Eggman and his lackeys were brought back to consciousness by Shadow and Tails. The black and red hedgehog informed them that his mobile ship was destroyed, and the two-tailed fox had installed a quick but effective jamming tool that would prevent the human from calling on any kind of reinforcements or mobile vehicles of any kind.
Shadow told them that they would become entertainers for Cream's birthday, but before that… they would have to repair as much of the village as they could BY HAND until an hour before the party began.
At first, Eggman and his metal cohorts stubbornly refused to do so. That is until Shadow threatened to use his warping powers in a way that would be severely devastating to them… such as taking them all to either the active core of a volcano, leaving them deep in the depths of the sea or stranded alone in some very remote area of the planet.
Needless to say, the human and his machine minions agreed to the conditions fast. So they rolled up their sleeves and were sent to work, under the direct supervision of Shadow, of course. It was from early morning all the way to 6:00 p.m., where Eggman and his metalhead morons continued to work in the mild afternoon day in fixing the village that he had attacked earlier. Any and all kinds of weapons or any tools that could be used as a weapon were either confiscated or disabled.
Now, the human doctor was being used as target practice for patrons who paid a single gold coin to hurl three ripe fruits or vegetables at him. He was really hating the situation at the moment, especially when it came to Tails' turn. Not only did the young fox managed to hit the perfect target to the point where he won a special prize... a stuffed anthro toy which he gave to Cream for an additional birthday present. But afterwards, he gave Eggman a taste of his own medicine over the nose pinching/tweaking ordeal that he went through. Tails ended up pinching and wiggling Eggman's nose around, like a clown would normally endure in cartoon or in real-life sometimes.
Suffice to say, Eggman was unhappy with what he is going through. His hencebots, though, weren't looking as negative as Eggman was feeling throughout the party. Right now Bocoe was making balloon animals, Decoe doing simple but effective party tricks & finally Bokkun was giving rides for the little ones with his jetpack. All in all, the robotic trio were actually quite enjoying themselves despite on what happened to them earlier.
And while all but Eggman had fun at the party, almost nobody was told about what would happen AT THE END of it though...
Now it was 8:00 p.m., where the party was now winding down. Cream and Cheese had blown out the seven candles on quite a large birthday cake, made by Vanilla and Amy Rose. She also opened up the various presents given to her by her friends and the various guests that had come over.
Vanilla called out, "Everyone, your attention please! I believe that it is my turn to give the final birthday gift to my daughter.". Everyone soon settled down, all eyes on Cream and Vanilla as the mother went to her daughter.
The mature beauty smiled beautifully and stated in a gentle, loving tone, "Cream, you are a very wonderful and special girl. Truly a gift from above that I thank for every day.". Many were touched by these words, especially Cream with Cheese looking very pleased as well.
She continued on, "I often had trouble finding a suitable gift for one such as you, my precious treasure. And… I believe I have found for you such a present.". She then held a gift box to her, which was about the size of a basketball, wrapped up in beautiful orange paper with white ribbons on it.
Cream took the box, untying the ribbon first and opening the top. She peered down to see the contents… only to be puzzled to see that it was a piece of paper. She pulled it out, then looked to her mother in puzzlement. Vanilla merely smiled motherly and urged her softly, "Go on, read it.".
The little bunny girl looked to the parchment and started to read it, Cheese doing the same as he read over her shoulder. She read out loud, "This document is binding to the law of Mobius. And all governing bodies state that Miles 'Tails' Prower is now the adoptive son of Vanilla… Rabbit…".
She and her Chao friend looked to Vanilla is total surprise, Sonic and the others also surprised as this was news to them. They had heard only of Cream and Tails defeating Eggman, as the particular information of Vanilla adopting Tails was left out! Tails was also stunned, but he and Cream had hope in their eyes.
Cream waved the paper and whispered in an awed tone, "Mama, does this mean…?".
Vanilla smiled brightly this time as she answered, "Indeed, my dear. This is my gift to you! As of now… Tails is your official big brother!".
This got many to cheer loudly all around, even Shadow managing a small smirk as he saw everything play out. Sonic, Amy and the others were still stunned to hear the news. Decoe, Bocoe and Bokkun clapped with the others as they looked very pleased at this… minus Eggman, who could not stand to see such sweetness.
Cream and Tails looked to one another, joy filling their being… until it was too much for them to handle! Tails whooped loudly as he spun his tails fast, picking up Cream and Cheese before going high into the air! The many guests gasped as they saw the young fox boy just airlifting his new sister with ease, as they were now high above the treetops, with the moon out and bright with the stars twinkling like diamonds for them.
The little rabbit girl examined to her newly minted brother in happiness, "Oh Tails, this is wonderful! Now you REALLY are my big brother!".
The young fox replied in the exact emotional tone, "Oh yeah! I have a family now, a real family! And… I will do my best to be the best big brother to you, Cream! And of course, you too Cheese!".
The declaration and show of affection was heard by all down below, many very much pleased to hear & see such a thing. They all watched as Tails and Cream halted their excitement to look at each other in a very happy expression.
Cream said "I'm glad to be your sister now, Tails".
Tails replied "And I'm glad to be your brother, Cream".
In the very instance after Tails had said that, he and Cream shared a heartwarming hug together. All of Sonic's friends and fellow attendees were awing in response to seeing this extremely heartfelt moment between the adorable young fox and the cute little bunny.
For Sonic, though, he initially smiled happily at the pair without saying a word at first. But then he did speak by saying to them "Well I'm glad all around for you Tails and Cream. The two of you are the real heroes today".
Both Tails and Cream reacted to this in a similar astonished tone. They both said to Sonic at the same time, "Really?".
The blue hedgehog commented "You betcha. And I'm sure Cosmo would agree too. She'd be real proud of you guys".
Hearing those words made Tails' heart feel more proud of himself, as does Cream as well. Not only did Sonic praise the two, but he also gave them some assurance that Cosmo would've said exactly the same thing as well.
Moments later, Cream gave her now big brother a playful pinch on his left cheek as she responded to Sonic's quote in a happy tone. She said "I agree. How about you, big brother?".
And Tails replied back as he rubbed his cheek on the left side "Yeah, totally!".
Shortly afterwards, Tails and Cream looked over at the land that was below them. The adorable bunny girl pointed out to the distance and said, "Hey! Look! There is the garden! Tails… how about we play in there for a bit before we head back to the others?".
The two-tailed fox smiled and answered, "Sure! Anything for my little sister!". He felt incredible warmth saying that, and it was the same for Cream & Cheese to hear it too. The heroic mechanic than zoomed down towards Cream's garden, ready to play any kind of game with her sister.
The stars shone brightly in the sky, the moon gazing down to mark to all that tonight was the night when two best friends… became siblings for life!

Now that this is done, will focus on other requests that I have made with others. After that, will focus exclusively on my Danny Phantom/Dragonball crossover, which I hope many of you take a good look at it as I will be working hard on it. I will put much effort into it like I did with my Monsters and Magic series!
