Heyyyyy! I want to take a moment to thank all who have reviewed/fav'd/followed so far! I am really happy that you all are liking this story so far!
So Amelia revealed her magic and rick don't care. How's that?! So i'm sure some might be wondering why this has so far focused so heavily on Rick/Amelia and I just want to explain that I had not exactly planned on it at the beginning but I am glad that it does. Rick strikes me as someone who would accept something like Magic immediately and I wanted to get them to the point that she could tell him. I will start writing things with the others included more after this. I still plan on getting rid of Lori and Shane but am unsure how to go about it.
I want to think Elfin69 though for the suggestions for the story so far and I am heavily taking those into account!
Anyways hope you all enjoy this next chapter!

The rest of the day passed quickly and the group left on the highway were alert as they waited for the rest of the group to come back from searching for the missing girl. Carol had fallen into an uneasy sleep against Amy in the RV with her tears drying on her face. They were all worried about the young girl, all except for Lori were hopeful that one of the groups would have found her.
Dusk had just fallen when two of the three groups that had left to search for Sophia returned. When they finally all crossed over the barrier they realized that Rick and Amelia were the only ones not back yet. An uneasiness settled on the group all except for Luna who swept the area with her eyes before hiding a yawn behind her hand.
"It's too dark to keep searching tonight, get some rest and we can go back out tomorrow." Merle said to her.
Luna shrugged. "I'm not worried. If Mia hasn't found her already then she will."
Shane snorted as he wrapped his arms around Lori causing Luna's silvery grey eyes to pin him to the spot with a sharpness none of them had seen before. "You have something to say?"
"Not really. Just don't see how you can expect them to find her when none of us did. Chances are all three or dead or turned." He shrugged carelessly and Luna did the only thing she could and laughed which caused Shane to scowl.
When she finally calmed down she stared at him again. "You don't know Mia. When she promises something, she delivers. She will find Sophia and all three will come back unharmed. It would not be the first time she has had to find someone and save them from certain death and if I was you, I wouldn't talk so carelessly about Rick especially in front of his son." The group glanced at said boy to see him glaring at Shane with so much contempt it actually shocked the man. Carl said nothing however before he turned and made his way to the SUV where he climbed into the back and shut the door. Snorting Luna shook her head and followed saying nothing more to Shane or Lori for that matter.
The group dispersed after that. Daryl joined Luna and Carl after a silent conversation between him and his brother while Merle headed to the truck himself to get some shut-eye. It was quiet as they all settled down to sleep with only Glenn staying up to keep watch for a few hours before he woke T-Dog to take over for him.
It took Luna a bit before she finally fell asleep, but she did with the faith that her friend would return tomorrow with Rick and Sophia and they would be unharmed like she had told everyone.
Rick sighed as he leaned back and looked up at the stars that had appeared in the night sky. Amelia was currently getting Sophia to go back to sleep, they had just finished supper a good thirty minutes before and afterwards Amelia had gone with Sophia to clean up and go to the bathroom she had brought her back and directed her to the tent before joining her after telling him she would come back out after the girl was asleep.
In the meantime Rick was currently contemplating everything that had happened that day. It had been stressful and he had been worried for Sophia, he was also worrying about Carl. He hated leaving his son behind but he knew that Shane would watch out for him even if their friendship was rocky now and he didn't trust him like he used to, he knew he could rely on him to make sure Carl was fine.
Snorting softly he laid down and stretched out with his arms under his head as he stared at the night sky. It was peaceful out here and he knew that he didn't have to worry about any walkers finding them, Amelia had explained the way wards worked and assured him that they would be safe for the night and he trusted her.
He sighed as he closed his eyes and tried to meditate, something he had not done in a very long time. He needed to now though he knew, waking up from his coma with the world the way it was now and freaking out about it would not help him. He knew that he was showing slight symptoms of PTSD and he knew that without the proper medication or a counselor he could very well fall apart if things got to out of control. Though being around Amelia seemed to help with keeping him calm.
He frowned slightly at that thought, not that it was a bad thing necessarily but it could be eventually. He would need to find a way to distract himself when they weren't worried about fighting for their lives against a hoard, until then he would just stay as close to the female as possible. Maybe she has something that could help? Could magic help with something like this? He would have to ask her if she did, he would much rather use something magical to help him get past this than to leave it as it was.
Closing his eyes he felt his body relax more as his mind calmed down.
Amelia smiled softly as she stepped out of the tent and noticed Rick laying down with his eyes closed. She wasn't sure how much time had passed exactly since she had laid with Sophia until the girl fell asleep but she was glad to see that the man trusted her enough to relax even if he was new to knowing that magic was real.
She stayed standing there looking at him for a few minutes just admiring him. She felt her cheeks heat up a bit as her gaze swept over his form. He was definitely her type of male. Biting her lip she sighed almost inaudibly, she knew that she was attracted to him, she couldn't deny that. She had admitted it to herself and since he didn't seem to mind that she was a witch she could almost convince herself that giving them a chance wouldn't be a bad thing but then again either of them could be caught by a hoard of walkers and not make it or be caught by one of the sadistic groups that she just knew was roaming around now and killing other survivors among other things that sickos like them did now that there was no longer a police force or government to keep them in check.
Shaking her head she headed towards him and sat beside him gazing into the fire. She knew that he knew she was there, he had good senses, being a cop did that to you.
It was silent between them for awhile as she collected her thoughts and he laid there. It felt like a good twenty before she heard him sigh before sitting up, one leg folded and the other pulled up with one arm resting on it as he stared into the fire. She watched him from the side of her eye as he took a breath before letting it out. It was comfortable between them, she didn't feel the need to try and break any awkward silence because there was none.
"So magic huh?" He questioned keeping his voice low so Sophia wouldn't wake.
Chuckling Amelia smirked. "Yes magic. As I said earlier it's real, a whole secret society out there."
He flashed her a smirk before gazing back into the fire. "I take it that you guys disappeared because of the witch hunts?"
"Well look at you, smart man. That is indeed the reason my people went into hiding. To protect ourselves from being wiped out. Human's fear and when they fear and don't understand something the determine that it needs to be gotten rid of. Of course it didn't help that the religious people out there convinced so many that we associated with the devil and we were evil." She shook her head laughing quietly.
"Fear leads to lack of common sense in most people." He responded smiling slightly.
Amelia shrugged before looking up at the sky. "I know. It also turns people into the type of monsters that is found within the human population." Rick turned to look at her and even though she wasn't looking at him he could see that deeply hidden pain that he had noticed back at the Quarry. He had a sinking feeling in his gut he knew exactly why her childhood was so horrible. Swallowing thickly and closing his eyes briefly he opened them again before gazing back into the fire.
"Your relatives. They were afraid and abused you because of your magic didn't they?" He questioned softly and she could hear the hesitation as he did, which surprisingly helped her feel better about telling him.
Taking a deep breath she dropped her head and looked at him and smiled sadly. "My aunt...she was my mother's sister. She was jealous of my mother for having magic. She was jealous of her for a lot of things actually and well her jealousy turned to hate and that hate was taken out on me when she woke and found me on her doorstep the morning after my parents were killed."
"That's wrong. What excuse did her husband have? Did they have kids? Did they treat you the same way as their parents?" He questioned his eyes looking into hers. She could tell he was upset and that caused a warmth to spread through her chest.
"They had a son. He used to bully me before I went to my school to learn about my magic." Taking a deep breath she closed her eyes before opening them and looked up into the night sky. "Let me tell you about my life yeah? I'm sure you have a ton of question's about how magic works and all that but I also know your probably curious about what my life was like aren't you?" She flashed him an amused smile as he just shrugged.
"I do. I can always ask question's later if I want to know about something specific."
"True." Amelia bit her lip as she decided where to start. After a few moments she bent a leg and rested her chin on it as she gazed into the darkened woods around them. "I guess I should start with a man who ended up being the most feared Dark Wizard of all time in Britain." Frowning briefly she continued. "His name was Thomas Riddle. He was an orphan like I was, grew up in a non-magical orphanage between the 1920's to the 1940's. He graduated from Hogwarts which is the magical school for Britain sometime in the 1940's and he worked in a dark arts shop for a few years before he traveled and dabbled in some of the worst kind of magic that can be dabbled in. He arrived back in Britain in 1950 and started his crusade in trying to gather support to take over the magical community."
"In 1970 he started the First Wizarding War in Britain. He had gathered enough followers which mainly consisted of those witches and wizards that are called 'Pureblood'." Seeing his confused expression she smiled slightly. "I'll explain what that means later as well what halfblood, muggleborn and squib means."
He nodded once. "Anyway, by this time he had enough support to really do damage to our community. The war raged on from 1970 to 1981, he was on the verge of winning actually when he decided that it would be smart to take attack my family. We had gone into hiding a year before because of a prophecy that he been made about myself and him." Amelia closed her eyes before continuing. "Halloween of 1981 he arrived at the house we had been living in and killed both my parents before turning his wand onto me and attempting to kill me but the spell backfired."
"What spell was it?" He questioned.
"It's called the Killing Curse, it kills instantly, it is not supposed to be avoidable but my mother did something that night that protected me and it destroyed his body. He was still alive of course, he had found a way to survive. Not that anybody knew that at the time of course." She smiled slightly as she spun a tale of her life for him.
As the night wore on Amelia told Rick about her finding out about being a witch, about her years at Hogwarts and the trials she had to face. She spoke of the wonder she felt at being able to learn about the magic that was apart of her. She spoke of her friends and her godfather, of the good and bad times. She broke down and laughed in equal measure as she told him about things that he could only dream of experiencing.
It took half the night for her to finish telling him about her life and things that she had to do and that had been done to her. Afterwards she couldn't bring herself to look at him directly, instead keeping her eyes on the dying fire before them. There was silence for a few moments before Rick lifted his hand and placing his finger under her chin and lifting her head to look at him.
"You Amelia Potter are an amazing woman. To live through what you have to and be as good as you are, it's nothing short of amazing. Thank you for telling me your story Amelia." He dropped his hand grabbing hers instead and squeezing it gently.
"It...it doesn't change how you see me does it? I mean...everybody always treated me one way or another because of something my mother did when I was a baby and because I defeated him a second time..." She frowned briefly as she dropped her gaze to their hands.
"No. I see just Amelia but an Amelia that is extremely strong willed and an amazing woman." He replied honestly before leaning down to look into her eyes. "Though I might be in slight awe of you, it's not everyday that someone can come back from death you know."
She snorted before lifting her head up and smirking at him. "Yes well it was either that or let that bastard take the people that I loved."
They shared a laugh before he smiled at her, his brown eyes soft as he stared into the emerald green of hers. Releasing her hand he brought his up and cupped her cheek gently stroking it with his thumb. "You truly are an amazing person." He said softly before closing the distance between them. Amelia's heart sped up and her eyes closed as he pressed his lips against hers.
The kiss was gentle but the emotions that she could feel in it took her breath away. When he ended it and she opened her eyes and gazed into his she couldn't help the tears that gathered in her eyes. He pulled her into his arms without saying anything. They stayed like that the rest of the night where she eventually fell asleep.
He knew then as he held her that he would do anything to make her smile and protect her even if she didn't need it.
