The Nowhere Corner
NFG was looking at her work with a proud smile on her face. Another week had passed, and now the former theatre was finally finished with its remodeling. She had finished installing the last of the weapons and defenses. "Gimme enough time and we can probably turn this bad boy into a full-on warship. But I like the name, Nowhere Corner." NFG commented to Modern, who was looking over some papers occasionally adjusting her glasses.
"I've been thinking NFG. So we decided to hold off on reviewing any Ruby ships yeah?" Modern asked as she flipped a page.
"No shit. We would be biased as hell. Besides, it's a common principle to save the best for last." NFG smirked.
"Yeah but that would ultimately mean either we do one ruby ship after the other when done with all these other ships. Or….a large mega episode… And I doubt anyone wants to see a mega episode in what is essentially a shitpost fanfic." Modern pointed out. NFG raised a finger to protest and then lowered it.
"Shit, you're right. Okay what Ruby ships have been asked for so far?" NFG asked while sitting down at the oak desk.
"It's not too bad, we only got three ships asked for so far. Lancaster requested by Heku03 which is Jaune and Ruby." More flipping of pages. "Strawnana? Or is it Strawbanana, which is Sun and Ruby. And finally Milk and Cereal, huh clever name, Ruby and Pyrrha." Modern put the pages down.
"I still think we would be too bias. So maybe someone else should fucking review these ships." NFG said with a grunt.
"I think I know just the people," Modern said with a smile.
Two Hours Later
"Ooo Ren look at this!" Nora was zipping around, looking at the fancy furniture and death robots. Ren gently tugged her away from the robots before they decided she was an intruder.
"Nora we can look around later. Right now we need to do that request that Modern asked for us." Ren and Nora were from the same universe as Modern Ruby, and where Nora dressed in a biker jacket and pink skirt, Ren was dressed in a green button-up shirt and wore glasses, and he needed his coffee all day every day.
As the two sat down, they looked over the notes. "Alright, says just press these buttons. And everything else is just us talking to them or whatever shenanigans happen." Ren shrugged. "Go ahead." He smiled at the immense energy Nora had in her, as she looked over the big glowing buttons, and she eagerly pressed the big red one first of course.
A red flash of light occurred, and in the two guest seats to show up were Jaune and Ruby. From an adjacent hypertime prime universe. Which in layman's terms meant it was like the canon show, but not accurate to it.
"What? Where?" Ruby asked as she looked around the strange room, and then noticed her friends sitting at a desk in front of them, but they looked different. "Ren? Nora? What's going on?" Ruby asked confused, one moment she had been falling into a possible abyss forever. Now she was here.
"I thought you guys were in Vacuo?" Jaune asked equally confused, he had come from a different point in time, before things had gone to hell.
"Ooo green button," Nora said excitedly as green lasers shot themselves into Ruby and Jaune's mind, implanting them with all the relevant knowledge.
"There's a multiverse? … holy shit." Ruby said in awe.
"That's…." Jaune and Ruby turned to face each other at the same time, eyes wide with excitement.
"So cool!" They both exclaimed at the same time.
"Aww, that's adorable," Nora said leaning forward. "I can see why this ship still exists. So with that out of the way, let's get to the questions." Ruby and Jaune blinked, and both backed up after noticing how close they were to each other, blushing just a bit. "First question of the day from Zacatac. What is Universe 58?" Nora looked at Ren in confusion.
"The only thing NFG told me was that no one should have to know what Universe 58 is. She still has nightmares at night just thinking about it. So moving onto the next question." Ren looked at a page. "From BriskPillow642. What do you think fans see in your ship?" Ren looked at Jaune and Ruby to gauge their reactions.
"Heh heh. I don't know." Ruby admitted rubbing the back of her head, a little nervous. It felt odd to her that people wanted to see her get with Jaune, she looked at Jaune who was shyly looking away. "I guess it's because we've known each other for a while and he's a really great friend." Ruby rubbed her arm a little nervous.
"I mean sure I and Ruby get along great. Just wow, I never really thought about it that way." Jaune admitted, blushing. It wasn't like he didn't think highly of Ruby, but ever since Beacon fell, and his own confused feelings for Pyrrha. He hadn't really taken the time to think of other people in that way.
"Well me personally, I think it's because you two are such adorable goobers. I just wanna pinch your cheeks. Granted I still say me and Ren are the most adorable." Nora turned to Ren with suggestive eyebrow-raising. She got a kiss on her forehead in response, Nora whined and Ren let out a sigh as he kissed her on the lips. "Hehe," Nora giggled and blushed profusely.
"You two do seem rather compatible. Sorry didn't mean to sound so clinical." Ren straightened his glasses. "Honestly, I know Pyrrha and Jaune had a close connection." He said sympathetically reaching out and giving Jaune a comforting squeeze. "However, I think that if this ship did happen, however, it does. Pyrrha wouldn't be upset, I think she would want both her friends to be happy no matter what." Ren said with a chuckle. "Life is short and precious, don't wait forever, I should really kick my prime version's ass for that" Ren laughed and everyone laughed with him.
"Don't act like it didn't take you some time to ask me out." Nora nudged him playfully. Then she looked back at Jaune and Ruby who awkwardly looked at each other every now and again. "Hey don't sweat it, we ain't here to force you two to get together, just want to see what you two do think of said ship. We do have other questions from Brisk, but we will save those for the other ships we have to review today. So just tell us what you think of the ship after we show some sweet fanart and vids and yada yada." Nora clicked a slideshow.
One Hour Later of Lancaster Shipping
Ruby and Jaune were completely tomatoes by this point. Ren was sipping from his coffee, while Nora kept cooing at some adorable artworks.
"That was wholesome, very wholesome. Though I think they've had enough Nora. Let's spare them from any more embarrassing moments." Ren then pressed the return button, and Jaune and Ruby were sent back to their universe in the appropriate times.
"Aww, but I wanted to tease them for a little bit longer," Nora said with a pout.
"We still have two more ships to review. We can get some teasing in there, would you like some pancakes in the meanwhile?" Ren asked as he looked for a different universe to pull the next pair from.
"Ooo yus!" Nora said practically drooling at the thought of Ren's delicious pancakes.
Sometime later
Another flash of red light and another pair showed up. But they weren't from a prime adjacent universe. Sun looked around confused, he looked like his prime version. But Ruby looked like a faunus with perky wolf ears and a bushy wolf tail. "Woah…" Sun said looking around the area. "How?" a green laser shooting his forehead was the answer. "Woahhhhhh a multiverse." Sun laughed in amazement.
"I've been here before." The faunus Ruby said, remembering the time she helped review Bumblebee.
"Good now then time for another ship review." Ren sipped from his coffee. "Nora ask the question." Sun was still blinking while it dawned on Ruby what they meant.
"You mean...me and him?" Ruby asked her tail shooting up in surprise, and a large blush on her face. Sun blinked a few times and then looked at Ruby.
"I mean if she wants to. I don't mind." Sun said with an easy-going laugh.
"Sun?" Ruby asked turning a deeper shade of red.
"When I was dating Blake, I never claimed to have ownership of her or anything. And if she wanted to break things off, that's fine. I have no real regrets you know. Besides you're cute, you're awesome, and if you want to hang out or date I wouldn't mind." Sun said with a flirtatious wink, Ruby looked to the side nervously.
"Why would anyone want to date me?" She asked unsure of herself.
"Why wouldn't they? A date is a date. And you can always say no. And if they force the issue and try to make you do something, you can just kick their asses. It's what I would do." Sun while sneakily reaching with his tail to try and grab Ren's plate of pancakes. But Nora hungrily devoured the pancakes before he could. "Besides Ruby, you're one of the best girls I know. You care for your team, you're always leaping into battle for others. But you also know how to still have fun, you don't let the darkness get to you. That's an admirable quality." Sun answered.
"Heh, thanks Sun." Ruby smiled back. "You don't mind me being a weapons dork?" She asked shyly.
"I am not perfect either. Despite these glorious abs." Sun gestured to his abs smugly. "Everyone thinks I am a muscle head, so they don't think much else of me. So really I wouldn't mind the weapons part, you're more than a single trait." Sun said with a chuckle.
"Heh soooo~," Nora asked with a wide grin. "Time for my question." She said, and the duo looked away from each other with a blush. "From the mind of Brisk. Under what circumstances would you two be interested in dating each other. Keep in mind I paraphrased the question." Nora said with a wink. "Though it seems you two answered that question already." She said in between mouthfuls of pancakes.
"Hmm well… I think they don't need any slideshows." Ren said, stroking his chin. "We still have some time before the universal transference beam recalibrates. So… Double Date?" He suggested much to Nora's excitement.
"I am cool with it if she is," Sun said with a charming smile to Ruby, and the faunus girl smiled and nodded shyly. Willing to give it a shot.
One Double Date Later
Ruby and Sun were blushing while holding hands. Nora and Ren smiled as they pressed the button sending the unlikely pair back to their universe. "Will they remember this?" Nora asked, a little sad.
"Not all of it. But there might be some influence in the back of their minds." Ren said having read the manual. "I think honestly it's a very cute ship, the only downside is that it didn't exactly happen. Sun got taken, Ruby didn't show much interest in any of that stuff. But it's cute, unlikely but actually very cute. I like it." Ren chuckled.
"I mean even if you don't like how Ruby has an age gap in all her romances. They can always wait until she gets older or something like that. Except for Ozpin, that is just a hard no." Nora laughed. "And others, but that's more than just age being a factor. So who's next?" Nora asked while adjusting Ren's shirt like a mother hen.
"It will be the last Ruby ship reviewed for a while. After this, NFG and Modern will be reviewing the rest of Brisk's suggested ships. Let's just hope other interesting questions get asked." Ren looked at the screen. "Not that your questions are bad, it would just be repetitive if we kept asking the same questions to every single ship. So yeah, don't be afraid to ask even crazy questions." Ren smiled and then had to wait for an hour for the beam to recalibrate yet again.
One Hour Later
Ren and Nora looked around at the robots cleaning up the dishes and putting up the tables and flowers from the double date. Then the red flash of light, and in the seats were Pyrrha and Ruby. The card reader briefly explained that in their universe, everything was very similar save for one detail. Instead of fighting with weapons, they created their own robot mechas and piloted them. Thanks to an innovative invention by Watts, who didn't turn evil, a unique engine made semblance transference to the mechs seamless essentially giving the mechs the same power as the huntresses like an extension of them.
Pyrrha and Ruby looked around, they were a bit on guard but were already informed thanks to a tweak Ren had done to the transference beam by mixing it with the knowledge dump beam.
"It's good to see you Pyrrha," Nora said squeezing Pyrrha in a bear hug. Pyrrha gasped from the tight hug but managed to hug back. Ruby and Ren winced, knowing full well how strong Nora was. They waited until Nora was done hugging Pyrrha.
"Well then. First off. As you know you're both here to ask for your opinion on the ship concerning you both." Ren said, and Ruby and Pyrrha blinked in shock. "So the first question. Do you think it could work out between you two?" Ruby and Pyrrha looked at each other.
"Well… Pyrrha's great. But I don't know if she is into girls." Ruby said with a blush. "She's pretty cool though," Ruby admitted.
"Ruby is amazing. I honestly do look up to her." Pyrrha said with a genuine smile. "She is always doing her best and knows what she wants to be. I count her and Jaune as my closest friends." Pyrrha looked at Ruby. "Sorry. What I mean to say is, if you wanted to. I suppose we could try it out. Though I will admit I am not used to dating." She chuckled nervously.
"Neither am I? But to answer that question. I think it could work, not that there wouldn't be some complications." Ruby admitted.
"Such as both being huntresses, and our line of work isn't exactly safe. And we would have a lot to figure out about each other. But I think it could work." Pyrrha said.
"So then let's do a double date again!" Nora yelled out in victory, making Pyrrha's jaw dropped.
Two Hours Later
Ruby and Pyrrha's date had been very awkward and then sending the two back home, left Ren and Nora a little drained.
"You know they're cute. But they really need a lot of prodding." Nora admitted.
"Yeah for sure. Though to be fair, that could be said for all the ships we reviewed today. In theory, they would be compatible with her, but Ruby herself would have to take that step forward, and see where it goes from there." Ren said while cleaning up the mess.
"I heard NFG hates all ships, is that true?" Nora asked knowing they didn't have much time left.
"Eh, that's something only NFG could answer," Ren said as the place was cleaned up, and then he turned to the camera. "Thank you all for tuning in for this unusual episode. Next time, Qrow and Robyn will be reviewed, we will use up the last of Brisk's questions. And go from there. Have a good day or night out there." Ren and Nora waved as the screen went to black.
